Hey, it's been a while. Yk, life just gets in the way sometimes. But I'm back and summer is around the corner so I will be able to update more often. It's a short chapter but I'm planning to update again tomorrow.

The smile dropped from Will's face as he knew he would have to have an uncomfortable conversation with his clients. He re-entered the courtroom and walked up to the pair, one with auburn locks and the other with brown receding hair. They were deep in discussion until he interrupted them by saying,

"Mr and Mrs Grant, if you want another lawyer, I'll get you a list of other lawyers but don't go behind my back. Especially not during trial. Do you understand?"

The pair looked at each other. Mr Grant looked close to tears as he said,

"We were just nervous."

"I understand that," Will cut back, "We all are. Do you want to make a change?"

Will's tone was so firm and serious that everyone in the courtroom saw his intense passion for law. His eyes were fixed on Mr Grant, awaiting his response.

"Mrs Florrick has worked on our case for a long time. That is why we asked her," Mrs Grant said, attempting to explain their actions.

"I am aware of that. But I have spent countless nights, going over Ali- Mrs Florrick's notes, verifying that I have all of the facts straight. Mrs Florrick may have spent more time on your case, but in her words, I am the better lawyer."

The ending was said with triumph as the image of Alicia saying it mere moments ago, with her dark lipstick and effortlessly long legs, filled Will's brain. He would never tell her but the compliment made him… heal a small part of the anguish. It was the recognition from Alicia that he was indeed the better lawyer. It removed the idea of her leaving because he had nothing left to teach her. That was now ruled out.

"No," Mr Grant said firmly, "Ignore my wife. We still want to keep you."

"Good," Will said shortly, eyeing both of them up.

Court resumed, and within the first five minutes, a bad joke was cracked by Mr Delany, who ran the B+ club at the college the young Grant and the victim had gone to. It was asked why the victim had stopped going to the B+ club and Mr Delany had retorted that she had stopped getting 'B+'s. The judge already didn't like him, Will could tell. In fact, the judge was only half-focusing, finding the smudge on his watch to be far more interesting. The police officer was also not paying attention. Will noted that his gun hung unprotected, the latch not done up. Will could see the young Grant's eyes spark with an idea as he saw it. Will knew he could not let his client do anything stupid. If he did, then the chances of him winning the case was whittled down to zero.

He made sure to tell the guard during the break to fasten up his holster and perhaps to move slightly away from the young Grant just as a precaution. The guard raised his eyebrows but did as Will asked. Will had a lot more sway than the police officer did and he did not want to lose his job over something as trivial as holstering his gun properly.

That last part... The ending is foreshadowing for something that will never happen in this story because Will's death was a write-in. There were clear plans to make him last until season 7. Hoping you guys can recieve more clarity from the chapter being uploaded tomorrow!
