So, I'll just be honest. I did not expect this story to catch as much attention as it has, and now I'm nervous. However, I will try and live up to whatever expectations you all have for me. Keep in mind that this is a Gamer OC fanfic, which means power scaling will be off the walls. And because this is a Gamer fanfic, expect things that will make no real sense.

The idea of Ultimate Characters is never really explored in a combat scenario, so we never get to see what feats these teenagers have, and I plan to use my imagination to its fullest. So when fights do eventually happen, expect some bullshit.

Now, on to comment/review responses:

Delly (Guest): Yes. Other V3 characters will make an appearance. When, however, is an entirely different story.

MarcusCooper (Ao3): Yup. And yes, I will have a bunch of fun exploring just what "Hard Mode" will mean for our Protagonist.

CURRENT UNIVERSE: DANGANRONPA – PRE TRAGEDY

[Jin Kirigiri – POV]

Being the Headmaster of Hopes Peak Academy would lend someone the ability to see all of the world's talented individuals. Er, well Japan's most talented individuals, seeing as the school didn't do transfer students, not unless it was under special circumstances, and that was only for The Reserve Course. Money was money, after all. If you wanted to be accepted as a Talented student at Hopes peak but lived in a different country, that had been the reason why they had opened up other schools in other countries. But that was beside the point.

Being the Headmaster of Hopes Peak Academy, in Japan, gave way to seeing Japan's talented youth, which was usually accompanied by some of the most eccentric personalities. Jin Kirigiri was similar to that in many, many ways. Granted, he was just a regular guy, and he didn't lead an exciting life.

Well, no, that was a lie. Again, site the "Being the Headmaster of Hopes Peak Academy" as proof of that. So, as Jin sat in his office chair, slicking back his blackish-purple hair, adjusted his black and white striped tie, and fixed the collar on his black business suit, he prepared for what probably was going to be the world's strangest conversation he had the… well, pleasure would not be the right word.

Opportunity would be better, in that regard.

But why? Well, it would be who he was talking to that explained that.

Jolyne Brooks. She was an average student for the first few months of her attendance at Hopes Peak Academy. Sure, she was a Reserve Course Student, but he cared for all his students equally. That wasn't even mentioning the fact that, in the reserve course, she was pretty damn smart and had consistently kept getting A's on every test she did and was on the fast track to potentially being offered a spot as next year's Ultimate Lucky Student, granted if she won the lottery, that was.

So when he heard she attempted suicide by throwing herself off of the Reserve Course building's roof, he nearly choked on his coffee.

Having someone commit suicide at Hopes Peak Academy would've been a TERRIBLE PR nightmare to sort through. And so, when she somehow survived the attempt, she got Mikan Tsumiki – The Ultimate Nurse – to nurse her back to health. It took three months, but she woke up, and she seemed to have forgotten where she was and how she got there according to Mikan.

It wasn't uncommon for coma victims to have some slight memory loss. At least Jolyne remembered her name, although not remembering that she had been a student at Hopes Peak, Transfer Student from Canada or not, Reserve Course Student or not, you didn't just forget that you go to Hopes Peak Academy.

But that wasn't what made him want to talk to her. No. What made Jin Kirigiri want to talk to her was what the Ultimate Lucky Student, Nagito Komeada, had said he saw her do. Apparently, he had been on his way to… well, there was no dancing around it. Nagito had planned to bomb the Reserve Course building, but as he was on his way to do just that, he bore witness to a fist fight.

Now, normally, Nagito wouldn't have cared, something he admitted to Jin. In his words, he "didn't care what the utterly pointless and pathetic Reserve Course Students were squabbling about" however, the moment he saw Jolyne Brooks—whom he knew the name of because he had overhead Mikan saying she was nursing her back to health—manipulate her own blood she spat up to turn into spikes to stab Natsumi Kuzuryu in the back… well, he didn't believe it for a second.

And then he reviewed the camera footage. Needless to say, he nearly spat up his afternoon coffee all over his laptop. Nagito seemed to find it funny, but after the stunt he attempted to pull, needless to say, he had no room to talk. So, when he sent Nagito out of the office, he told the Ultimate Lucky Student of Class 77 – B that he was going to clean all of the Reserve Course Building with someone watching over him after school for the next month and a half.

The look Jin got after that was both priceless and also concerning. But, that was something to worry about later. Right now he had to talk to one Jolyne Brooks, and hopefully get some answers as to how she could now all of a sudden manipulate blood.

After a minute or two of waiting for her to show herself, Jolyne walked through the double doors to the school's office. The pink and black-haired teen looked annoyed, and her gaze wasn't exactly all that excited. Although, her body language seemed to appear that she was ready for whatever he had to say to her. If she was, then that would mean he might get the answers he's looking for.

"Good afternoon, Brooks-san. How is the afternoon treating you?" Jin questioned, giving the teen a welcoming smile, only to get a frown in response.

"Waking from a three-month coma, and then getting attacked by someone from the Kuzuryu clan… and the younger sister of its heir, no less…. honestly, I don't know about you, Headmaster, but I think that in and of itself is self-explanatory," Jolyne replied dryly, sitting in the chair in front of the desk.

"I see…." Well, he most certainly wasn't expecting that as a response. But that did seem to be exactly what her day had been like if the security footage was to be believed. "Now, Brooks-san. I take it you know full well why I called you here, correct?" Jin asked, cutting straight to the point, which seemed to earn a smirk from Jolyne.

"You mean this?" Jolyne asked, and before Jin could question what she meant, she grabbed the knife that he had on his desk from eating his lunch and stabbed it into the palm of her hand. Jin almost jumped up to grab the knife, only for her blood to spew out, wrap around the handle, and place it back on his desk before then seeping back into her skin and creating a barrier of sorts to prevent any more blood from leaking out.

Jin's eyes widened at what he saw. "So… my eyes weren't playing tricks on me. You really can control blood. But it seems that it's only if it's outside of people's bodies, right?" Jin questioned, looking up at Jolyne, who was gritting her teeth. "Oh, uh… are you okay?"

Jolyne simply snorted, shaking her head with what looked like a disappointed gleam in her eyes. "Yeah, I'm fine. It'll heal over in a matter of hours anyway," Jolyne replied as she put her cut hand beside herself. "Is that all you wanted to know? Because, If I'm being honest, I just want to get to the cafeteria and get something to eat…." And as Jolyne said that, her stomach growled.

Jin had to stifle a laugh before clearing his throat. "Ah, well, I suppose I can't keep you for long. However, I would like to offer you something," Jin said, earning a raised eyebrow from Jolyne.

"Offer me what? I don't think I quite understand," Jolyne questioned as Jin formed a small smile on his face, taking out a piece of paper that looked more like a sign-up sheet.

"Well, taking into consideration you have some never-before-seen ability that not even the best of Magicians in the world have, and seeing as we've been looking for some sort of magician-based talent… how would you like to become Hopes Peak Academy's very own Ultimate Magician?" Jin asked, as, in the back of his mind, he really, really hoped that she accepted.

The Steering Committee would have a proverbial seizure trying to figure out what made her tick. Not that he liked what it was they were doing, but he didn't have much of a choice but to comply with what they were doing. Besides, this would throw them for a loop. They wouldn't be able to continue their Ultimate Hope project without knowing how her talent worked, and because it was basically something out of a sci-fi Manga, they would no doubt have an incredibly hard time trying to deduce some sort of logic out of it.

And if it meant pissing off and delaying The Steering Committee, then he'd do damn-near anything.

Jolyne looked at him with a frown. For a moment, he was worried that she would deny it, but then, she reached for a pen on his desk. Taking the lid off the pen, she scribbled the title Ultimate Magician, replaced it with Ultimate Mage, and then put her signature at the bottom, as well as the rest of her credentials.

"Don't lump me in with all those card shuffling, bunny rabbit pulling, dove appearing loonies. I'm built differently than them. Besides, that look on your face says you want to annoy the living shit out of someone. Normally, I don't agree to obviously sketchy stuff like this, but if it means annoying the hell out of what I can assume are your superiors, then count me in."

Jin couldn't help but smile as he stood up, and then, bowed. "Thank you, Brooks-san," the Headmaster of Hopes Peak Academy said, Jolyne standing up and mimicking him before the two raised themselves. "Now, tomorrow, you will be joining Class 77 – B. That would be room 1 – B, which is just down the first set of stairs from my office and to the right. By 3:30 PM tomorrow, you will have an Ultimate Lab set up for you. Now, what kinds of things do you need to progress your new… Talent. Yeah, we'll call it that… what are you going to need for it?" Jin asked as Jolyne cupped her chin.

"I'm gonna need… a lot of books about the arcane… or as close as you can get to that. I'd say 50 of them to be exact. If you can find stuff like that, as well as several canisters of blood so I can practice with my Blood Control spell, then that would help me plenty. I'm only going to grow more powerful as the days carry on, so I'll ask for what I need then… or I'll just buy it myself. Either way, that will be all, Headmaster Kirigiri," Jolyne replied as Jin nodded.

"Very well. Thank you for your time, Brooks-san. You have the rest of the day off. Also, considering that the apartment you were renting evicted you during your time in your coma, I've decided to give you a dorm within the building. They're on the first floor of the school. Your room will be the first one on the right. We'll get you a plaque with a nametag for the dorm later tonight. Just head there, and set yourself up. Some of the other members of Class 77 – B have dorms, but not all of them. Here's a key to the room, as well as an E-Handbook," Jin said, passing Jolyne a black tablet with the crest of the school on the back as well as a key with a dangle on the end with an empty slot to be filled with a nametag.

Jin watched as she put the device in her breast pocket, then took the key and put it in one of the blazers' side pockets. "Is there anything else you need to tell me?" Jolyne questioned, only to receive a shake of the head.

"No, I believe that is all for now. If you have any questions, you may come to my office at any time. After all, as an Ultimate Student, you're now a part of the world's elite. I'm sure your parents in Canada will be excited to hear about this, Jolyne. You should call them tomorrow. If I were to guess, they would love to hear from their daughter," Jin said, a small melancholic smile on his face, earning a slight nod from the two-toned-haired girl.

"Have a good afternoon, Headmaster," Jolyne said, standing up and leaving the office. Jin watched as she left, sighing. He didn't get all the answers he wanted, only the confirmation of Jolyne's abilities. He didn't ask the right questions, but that didn't mean he couldn't try again in the future. Jolyne seemed like a nice person, albeit with a bit of a snarky attitude, but that was to be expected. She always did have that type of personality, but it seemed to be amplified ever since she woke up from the coma.

"Regardless, I got what I wanted. Now to inform a certain Chisa Yukizome…."

[Jolyne Brooks – POV]

"Not gonna lie… that could've gone worse. I almost expected to get expelled. Not get put up the hierarchal ladder like that…." Jolyne thought, walking around the school to find the dorm rooms. The half-and-half-haired teen was in disbelief after what happened. True to form, she hadn't expected to be promoted to an Ultimate Student, whatever the hell that meant, all because of some blood magic.

Well, in reality, that actually made a lot of sense. Considering that there was no one else in the world who had any abilities like the ones she had, and while she had no intentions of exposing herself, again, it seemed like the world had other ideas.

"Whatever…. I guess if the world's going to know my name, I have to show them what a true Mage can do… question is, how am I supposed to—"

Jolyne blinked several times. Her magic attack, defence, and crit went through the goddamn roof, as well as her mana. "And all of this because of a title… goddamn. I didn't even realize that was what those meant! I thought it was just an add-on to my tag! Ha! Fucking hell!" Jolyne thought as she looked over her stats.

"My HP gained another 25 health, as did my stamina. Although, my Charisma, Luck, and Faith didn't level up. Something tells me I have to get those up by interacting with others…. Great, I have to break my anti-social streak. Shit…." Jolyne frowned at that idea. She didn't mind interacting with others, but now she had to somehow come off as charismatic.

Let it be known that Jolyne was as charismatic as a piece of buttered bread. Even in her old life, she was a recluse. Granted, that was more or less because she had a compromised immune system, so she couldn't really leave the house without wearing what pretty much amounted to a hazmat suit, but that was beside the point.

"My Intelligence stat hasn't gone up. So I probably gotta get that up on my own time. Good to know." As Jolyne finally made it to the area where the Dorms were supposed to be, she approached the first room on the right, inserted the key, then turned the lock. Once she opened the door, she quickly closed it behind her, locked the door, then sighed.

And as soon as she entered, she was assaulted by an overabundance of the colour red. "Okay, that's gotta change… these walls are ugly as sin…" Jolyne quipped, walking deeper into the room.

The room itself was clean. From what she could tell right away, there was no dust, or at the very least any large build ups of the stuff. In her previous life, she was allergic to dust. If she was still allergic to it, then that would mean she would be having a sneezing fit right now, but she wasn't; so in other words, she didn't have anything annoying that tied her down.

Observing the room around her, she was quick to notice the double-sized mattress in the plain and average bedframe. "That will also change to a queen-size by the end of this week. I will not sleep like a peasant," Jolyne declared, looking over to one of the empty double-shelved bookshelves. Since this was her personal room she would probably fill that up with Japanese translations of the books she liked in the past.

That was, however, if they existed in this dimension.

"I swear to god if the Dresden Files don't exist here, I'm going to lose my shit." As Jolyne thought about that, she sighed. "Well… I won't lose my shit, I'll just be heavily disappointed." There were a lot more important things she had to do in order to get acquainted with this universe, the Dresden Files would just have to wait… even if it annoyed her to no end.

The rest of the room was a simple dorm room. It had a dresser to put clothes in. A generic and lame painting from sometime in the 1900s. A bathroom with a shower, toilet, and sink. There was also a small coffee table to put things on, but outside of that, there was nothing special about it.

Sitting on the edge of her bed, Jolyne looked down at her uniform and scoffed. Going into her inventory, she switched out of it and put on her casual clothing. "Much better…." As she said that, she fell back on her bed and looked up at the ceiling. There were a lot of things she had to think about. Namely, because they were important.

While getting a phone was important, as well as finding out if The Dresden Files existed here, they were small pennies compared to the shit she had buried herself in. Well, not that she had much of a choice. The System kinda forced that on her, but then again, what else was she supposed to do? Ignore the quests?

"Fuck me… I just had to get myself kneedeep in shit… just means I need to practice my Blood Control spell…" Jolyne thought, looking over at the bedframe. Standing up from the bed, she stood at the edge, and then, raising her hand and opening her palm to where she had hurt herself with the Headmasters knife, she slammed her palm on the edge of the board.

She ended up doing 4 damage to herself, re-opening the wound as it bled. She sucked in a deep breath before activating her Blood Control Spell. "Fuck, this hurts…." Jolyne thought as the blood pooled in the palm of her hand. She focused deeply on the red liquid, thinking of something to do with it, but her mind kept drawing up blanks.

After a minute passed, and as the blood continued to pool into the palm of her hand, she thought of something for it to morph into and smiled as the blood travelled up to her elbow. As it spread, she could feel something in her grow stronger, almost as if she was becoming more adept with the spell. It was almost like she had grown a more intimate understanding of what it was meant for, and when that knowledge came to mind, her smile turned into a wicked grin.

The blood coated her lower arm and fingers till it formed a claw around them. The blood coated her arm in such a way that it began to look like armour. The armour itself looked as if it had been layered upward, and the further up it went, the bigger each panel got, starting from the wrist up to the elbow, where it jutted out far enough to look like a spike at the end. And then, as it solidified, a notification came into her peripheral.

[Spell Level Up! – Blood Control: Level 2! Construct unlocked: Bear Claw!]

[Description: Bear Claw is a construct that can be formed at the shake of a hand, so long as you have an open wound, or if there is blood on the ground. When it is formed, any physical damage you do is doubled. You can form it on one hand, or both. To deactivate the construct, you must shake your hand again]

"Huh… neat!" Jolyne thought, looking over the gauntlet titled "Bear Claw." She wanted to test it out, but she had to assume that time would come later. "It hasn't even been 24 hours, and I already have some sort of control over my magic. In fact, it's only been an hour since I unlocked the damn thing. Though, If I had to guess, this gets hard to level up in the future. Although, the more I use and experiment, the more Exp I get for using the spell. So maybe not?" Jolyne thought, shrugging as she shook her hand.

"Whatever, I'll be getting more as I level up, anyway. At least, I'd have to assume that's the case. 'Cause otherwise, that'd be pretty gay," Jolyne muttered, the gauntlet seeping back into the cut in her hand, which immediately regenerated thanks to her health regen.

She looked over at her Mana reserves and frowned. When she activated "Bear Claw" it ate up all of her Mana at once. A concerned expression filled her face as she watched the Mana bar fill up. "It's a pretty hefty spell. So if I want to use it, my Mana has to be full. Otherwise, it would be pretty much useless…." Jolyne thought, sighing.

"I'm gonna have to find a way to make my Mana expand, because otherwise, I can't use my strongest attack, and I'll have to rely on manipulating blood from a distance," Jolyne muttered juggling her door key around, to which she frowned. "I could've just stabbed myself with the key instead of banging my hand on the bedframe… God, I'm stupid…."

"Well, when I said I was stupid, I meant it as a Joke. I didn't mean you to give me a fucking Quest, System!" Jolyne snapped, only for the emotionless robotic voice of The System to respond to her.

"I am designed to help my user by giving them things to do and giving them rewards for progressing themselves. I am not going to sit around and listen to you complain because of your shortcomings. I want to see you succeed. No matter what it is you find yourself doing."

Jolyne sighed. "Whatever…." The heterochromatic-haired teen replied, looking at the calendar she had just noticed on the wall. All of the dates were crossed out till the current day, showing it to be Tuesday. She had four days to complete the quest. "Well… time to go purchase the Japanese Translation of IT. Can't be that hard to find, can it?"

[Rantaro Amami – POV]

Out of all the things that Rantaro Amami saw himself doing today, sitting in the bookstore sampling a survival guide was something that… actually, no that made total sense. At least if you knew him, that was. Although, the guide itself was uncomfortably incorrect, and quite honestly, the green-haired teen found it funny.

He had just come back from a trip to Amazon Jungle after taking a dare that he couldn't survive in that place for a year, and now he came back to Japan to collect the money he was owed by his friend who really thought the Amazon Jungle was somewhere that would be even remotely difficult for him to survive in.

After all, Hopes Peak Academy was considering offering him a space in the school for next year as The Ultimate Survivalist.

Rantaro Amami stood at a height of 179cm, and for a 15-year-old, that was rather tall. He had avocado-coloured hair, so much so that one of his friends called him Rantaro Avacado for the longest time, and still did to this very day. To make things even better, he had matching coloured eyes, too. Currently, he was wearing a blue and white striped shirt with a giant compass motif on the right side of the shirt.

Underneath his favourite shirt, he had two more: A white one, and a black one, though they were more for looks than practical use. Along with his shirt, he wore a necklace that had a sloth claw attached to it, acting as the centrepiece of it. For pants, he had tight black jeans. He also had several rings around his fingers and bands around his wrists, all of which were to remind him of his twelve sisters, all of which had gone missing, and were presumed dead by his mother, father and local authorities.

Rantaro, on the otherhand. He believed they were out there somewhere. Henceforth why he travelled the world. Unfortunatly, he hadn't found any of them. But that didn't mean he was going to give up. And until he found them, he would continue to search the world.

Even if it were corpses he found, he didn't care. All he cared about was getting closure as to where they had gone. Because in his mind, that was the only way to redeem himself for not paying enough attention to them when they were still with him.

As he put the book back on the shelf, he sighed. He supposed he had spent enough time skimming through a thoroughly incorrect "survival guide," seeing as it was almost 1:30 PM, which was usually when Tarzan was on TV.

Tarzan was his favourite show, and he'd rather die if he missed an episode.

However, before he was on the verge of leaving the bookstore, he heard a crashing sound coming from one of the aisles over to his right. "What the…?" the deep-voiced teen muttered, peaking over the aisle to see a black and pink-haired foreigner slam a book into the shelf.

The teen was wearing a black hoodie with white tights and red socks pulled up over her ankles. On her feet were black runners, and from what he could tell, the teen seemed to have bags under her eyes, almost as if she hadn't slept for days. Either that, or she had a pretty bad sleep schedule. It was the first time Rantaro ever saw her in the bookstore, which meant she was a new customer. Though, why a foreigner would be in a Japanese Book store and not one of the many English ones was lost to him.

"Stupid fucking bookstore doesn't have what I'm looking for! Seriously, how hard is it to find a Stephen King novel! I thought that guy was super popular?!" The teen growled, sighing. Rantaro blinked a couple of times before approaching the teen and tapping her on the shoulder. "Huh?" The teen muttered, snapping her face in the direction of the green-haired survivalist.

"Hey, if you're looking for some Stephen King novels, just check in the Translated section at the back," Rantaro said, earning a smile from the girl.

"Thanks!" The teen said, walking to the back of the store as Rantaro huffed, shaking his head. He didn't mind foreigners. In fact, he felt humbled that there were people who wanted to visit and or live in his birth country. He just wished the older population would be more accepting of them.

As he left the store, he watched as the girl had already found what she had been looking for, and as soon as she purchased it, she walked up to him, seemingly unaware that he had been there. Although the glance and thankful smile she gave him seemed to denounce that idea. Something fell out of her pocket, that being a card of sorts. When she realized that it fell, she went to grab it, only for Rantaro to pick it up.

"Jolyne Brooks, The Ultimate Mage?" Rantaro read aloud, looking up at the duel hair-toned girl with a raised eyebrow. "Looks official… Do you really go by The Ultimate Mage, or is that just your preference?" Rantaro asked, only for the card to be swiped out of his hands.

"You wouldn't understand even if I told you. Yes, officially, I am The Ultimate Mage. Yes, I am unheard of. Why? Because I've been in a coma for months, m'kay?" The supposed Jolyne replied, making a clicking sound with her tongue.

"Coma, huh? How?" Rantaro questioned, raising his eyebrow higher, showing intrigue as the teen sighed.

"Do you really need to know why whole life story, or are you just curious to a detrimental degree?" Jolyne snapped, crossing her arms. Rantaro simply shrugged, a small smile on his face as he deflected the obvious attempted insult.

"Just curious. It's not every day you run into an Ultimate who's underground as well as unheard of and is also a foreigner transfer student by the looks of things. You can say I'm just a little bit interested to know why. But if you don't want to share, that's cool too," Rantaro responded, which seemingly caught her off guard if the embarrassed blush on her cheeks hadn't been a big enough clue.

"I— You know what, touche, good sir," Jolyne said, a neutral expression taking over her once annoyed face. "I attempted suicide and failed. My consequence was a coma, as well as amnesia. So I don't even know why I decided to off-myself. I was only told that through the nurse after I asked why I was in a school's nursery."

"Well, that was unexpected…." Rantaro thought, a briefly shocked gleam in his eyes. "I see… well, that's quite the interesting story," Rantaro replied, reaching his hand out for a handshake. "Rantaro Amami. It's a pleasure to meet you, Brooks-san. Or, would you rather if I called you Jolyne?"

The duel hair-coloured teen smiled, taking his hand and shaking it. "Jolyne is fine, Amami. Or is Rantaro good enough?"

"Rantaro's fine," the green-haired teen replied, pulling his hand away. "It's been nice chatting with you, but I gotta get back to my apartment. Call me," the teen said, walking away with his hands in his pockets. Did he really put a piece of paper with his phone number in her hands while they shook hands? Yes, yes he did. Was it a smooth move on his part? He didn't think so, but if it was interpreted that way, then that was alright with him.

And judging by the fact he didn't see the paper fall to the floor when he glanced over his shoulder, he'd have to say that his attempt in making a friend was a success.

-To Be Continued-

Wow, I really am speedrunning the V3 cast showing up, aren't I? Don't worry, this won't be a common thing. But yes, Rantaro has made his appearance. I don't plan on introducing any more V3 characters after this point for a while. And before anyone gets worried, don't worry, there will be a fight in the next chapter. What kind of fight? Well, you'll just have to find out.
