Alright, I think it's about time I squeeze out another chapter for this thing. It'll be longer than the last one, that I promise you. I also know how the irregular schedule could potentially kill this story to the algorithm, but tbh I don't care all that much. I just like to write things and post them and see what people think. That, and I have a life outside of this as well as other stories I write. But that's enough of me complaining. Before we get into this chapter, I want to go over some comments/reviews I've gotten for this story in the past month I've been away.
(Response to Reviews/Comments)
(Guest) Duke: Jolyne's original gender? Well, I think I've hinted at it a few times in the chapter before last and the one after it. While her original gender doesn't quite matter for this story, I'll eventually reveal it at some point. As for the whole Fire Emblem thing, since I haven't played Fire Emblem Three Houses (Though I do plan on it at some point) I don't think I can do that idea justice.
Onxio: I can't tell if these are pairing suggestions or requests, or just stating facts because I agree with you, those are indeed rare AF. However, do keep in mind that while this is a harem, the whole love stuff will be playing less of a main role and more of a side note. As for these two pairings, in particular, seeing as I've already chosen the pairings for this universe, you might just be surprised about one of them being a possibility. Which one that is, you'll have to find out later.
L (Ao3) [Chapter 3 – Expect The Unexpected]: Yes, that was indeed very cold.
L The Potato GOD (Ao3): It had to happen eventually. Someone had to be suspicious of Jolyne at some point. Why not make it who would be the most obvious to be as such?
And now, we shall begin.

[Jolyne Brooks]
She couldn't remember a time when she last had scrambled eggs and sausages with a side of toast. Probably around the time she was 8 years old if she had to make an educated guess. After that, it had just been cereal with a glass of orange juice. Regardless of what she had when she was younger and most definitely not this person, her hunger was satisfied, and her thirst for Apple Juice was quenched. She was lucky that the cafeteria was open 24/7 around here, otherwise, she would've probably starved to death.
Well, maybe not starve to death, but it would definitely feel like it. A part of her was shocked that she wasn't given a hunger bar or something like in Minecraft to track her starvation and when she needed to eat, considering she forgot to eat the whole day. That would just be bad all around. Then again, growing up dirt poor and never really expecting there to be food in the house gave her that mentality. That, and the System probably didn't want her to be TOO reliant on it.
Regardless of that, now that she had a meal, courtesy of one person by the name of Teruteru Hanamura, she smiled. Teruteru had what one may call a bit of a perverted streak. He was unabashedly perverted and wore the title of a pervert with pride. Admittedly, she was a bit put off by his perverted tendencies and how he spoke as if he intended to date-rape her or something akin to that. But seeing as he was just that, perverted, Jolyne wasn't all too phased by how he portrayed himself, despite the initial shock. It wasn't as if he was going to try to do that. Right?
Even so, if he tried anything, it wouldn't end well for him.
Outside of that, though, he was an amazing cook – errr… chef. Seriously, those had been the BEST eggs, sausages, and toast she had ever had in her lifetime, both as Jolyne and as the person she once was. And then there was the teen himself. Despite his overweight appearance and his strange pompadour hairstyle, as well as his short height of 4'11, the guy was just a normal dude, as well as an honest individual. A bit too honest sometimes, but then again she had only JUST met him, so perhaps he was a bit different the more she talked to the boy.
Admittedly, his food was as good as he made it out to be. You know, minus the whole "panties falling off" shtick he so boisterously proclaimed. She laughed when he said that, not as an insult, but she found his sense of humour and flair to be that much better when saying some of the things he said. It made him seem like an actual high-class chef cooking for the world elite. He also had hints of a southern Japanese accent, so there was that.
He took slight offence to her laughing, but she cleared things up, so they were on good terms. Besides, there was no harm in the way he spoke. Sure he was a bit strange, and sure he was perverted, but then again what teenager wasn't? Whether it be in their mind or outspoken, what was the harm to admitting the God's honest truth as to how someone was feeling?
Yeah, he was a bit… open about his thoughts, but she chalked it up to him being outspoken.
But why? Why was she so "okay" about Teruteru's… everything? Well, it reminded her of her older brother in her past life. She didn't remember much about him, but from what Jolyne could remember, he was almost as much of a horndog as Teruteru was.
Granted he wasn't open about it, but he had his moments, and it was quite cringe-worthy sometimes, but it reminded her enough of him that she was able to put up with it. Not to mention she had her moments when she was… not Jolyne Brooks, so it wasn't like she wasn't used to that crap. She understood it wholeheartedly. And for that reason alone Jolyne wouldn't judge him.
Taking the paper plate her food was served on and throwing it out, she saw the titular short man hang up his apron and walk out of the kitchen with a smile on his face. The boy looked overjoyed with himself, and as he walked out of the kitchen, his eyes met hers, to which he smirked. "Well, how was it?" Teruteru questioned as Jolyne flashed him a small smile.
"Well, I must say, it was fantastic. Though you have a bit of misleading advertising. My panties didn't fall off, and therefore I am a bit disappointed," Jolyne joked, elbowing him on the shoulder as Teruteru shook his head in a bout of confusion.
"You're… not mad?" Teruteru muttered to himself as Jolyne snorted.
"Oh please, I've heard worse from my brother overseas," the dual-haired teen lied, albeit only partially. He wasn't overseas, but rather in a different dimension, but that was neither here nor there. Shrugging in an 'oh-well' kind of way, Jolyne put her hands into her hoodie pockets and huffed out some air. "Don't get me wrong, though, it threw me off a little bit, but I'm used to hearing that kinda crap from him. Just don't be so open about being perverted and you might not get any knees in the groin as a result."
Teruteru seemed to chortle to himself quietly, wiping the sweat from his forehead. The two walked out of the cafeteria as he turned around to close the door behind him and lock it with a key he had in his school uniform's pants pocket. "Well, call me shocked. Most of my classmates, future or otherwise, hate my pervertedness. Jokes or otherwise." As the short man said that, he cracked his neck from side to side, loosening it to get rid of the stiffness. That had been because he had been staring down at pots and pans for almost 13 hours. It was like getting computer neck, but for cooking. "Well, I'll see you tomorrow in class then, Brooks-chan," and with that, the small man left down the opposite hall.
"Maybe he doesn't have a dorm here? That's possible. Principal Kirigiri did say that not every Ultimate Student had a dorm in the school," Jolyne thought as she got a notification out of the corner of her eye.

"Neat! Not useful right now, but neat! Now that I think of it, though, that means that I might get a perk by befriending all of my future classmates. Come to think of it, that didn't go off for Mahiru. Maybe I didn't do enough to trigger that. Regardless, now I have an incentive to be social… damnit." Jolyne thought, frowning as she walked back to her dorm room. Opening the door, she walked in without a care in the world, closed the door behind her and locked it, picked up IT once again, and continued reading.
It might have been nearing 11 PM, but she still needed to finish this Quest before the end of the week. And while she was only on page 183, she knew that if she hammered this thing out, she might be able to complete the Quest before the week even ended.
But when she sat on the bed, she almost immediately crashed and fell back on her pillow, her book laying down on her chest. Though to her it felt like she blinked, and despite her only really "blinking" she found herself groggily sitting up in her bed, her book falling off of her and closing on the same page she opened it to. As a result of the "blink and you'll miss it" rest, Jolyne felt refreshed as she wiped the sleep from her eyes.
"What the…?" Jolyne murmured, looking over to her book. "But I was reading, what happened?" Jolyne said, scratching the back of her head.
"I believe I can explain that," The voice of The System sprung out in her head as Jolyne hummed.
"Well, what are you waiting for, explain," Jolyne said with a groggy-sounding tone of voice. She felt refreshed, and oddly enough she felt as if she slept a normal 8 hours worth of sleep, despite only JUST closing her eyes not even a split second ago. The System let out a robotic chuckle as it continued in its emotionally departed computerized voice.
"You see, for you, whenever you sleep it happens quite literally in the blink of an eye, and depending on how well you rest you get a buff to your Stats for the first few hours of the day. It did not happen this time due to the mattress quality not being "up to snuff" as you would say. But, rest assured, it can still happen. This is not a perk specifically meant for you, but rather a feature that comes with being a part of The System."
Jolyne hummed as she stretched out her arms and opened her inventory to swap out into her school uniform. "Neat. And how much longer do I have till the Quest is over? The reading one?" Jolyne asked as The System flashed an image in front of her face that looked like a week-long calendar. There was an X over the previous day, Wednesday, and a dot on the day that they were on, that being Thursday.
"You have, including today, three days to finish that book you are reading. You are currently 15% through the book. If you read as much as possible today you may be able to get to 55%. This is counting for if you tend to appear in class today. If not, you could get through to 65%."
"Well, I can't just NOT skip class. Much to my own chagrin. Because let me guess, you're gonna give me a—"

"Good god. Three quests, huh? Well, not like this isn't something I CAN'T do, but sheesh… also, assassins? Gimme a goddamn break," Jolyne frowned as she stood up, cracking her neck side to side. Yakuza or not, that was just cold. Too cold if you asked her. But then again, what was she supposed to expect? A welcoming committee? Certainly not.
"I am merely trying to—"
"Help me? Yeah, I know. I wasn't complaining to YOU, was I?" Jolyne retorted, letting out a dry sigh. She had to kill five assassins out for her head, admittedly something she probably wasn't strong enough to do, but she'd manage. She had to introduce herself to her new class, at least 11 more out of the 16 people at least. The final one was easy. It was basically asking her to get stronger. No harm no foul, as the saying went. She wasn't about to complain about getting stronger.
Ironically enough, it just might help her with her assassin situation.
As Jolyne stepped out of her room, she stared forward down the hallway, making sure not to bump into anyone this time. As she walked out, she made her way around the building. Before long, she found herself standing in front of the classroom belonging to Class 77 – B. It was on the third floor, and those flights of stairs were something that she was not a big fan of. Seriously, wouldn't it have been better if the school had an escalator or something? Each of those staircases had to have AT LEAST 30 stairs each to them. However, she was able to get up them, and therefore that was all that she needed.
Didn't mean she didn't get to complain, though. Perhaps she should ask the Headmaster about that?
"No more delaying. Just open the door and enter. Shouldn't be too hard, right?" Jolyne thought. And just as she was about to open the door to the classroom…
"Okay, class! We have someone new joining us today! It was a surprise to even me till the last minute, but I've heard it was for good reason. And, if my intuition is correct she's just outside the door. Come on in!"
"That's not creepy at all whatsoever," Jolyne thought, shaking her head as she put her hands on the sliding door handles. Opening them with ease, she walked inside and immediately felt hostility from a baby-faced blond-haired teen who was sitting in the back. His verdant green eyes narrowed upon seeing her, though she simply gave him a straight face with no real emotion behind it. On the inside, she was fucking terrified, but she didn't want to show it on the outside. You know, for obvious reasons.
"That has to be Fuyuhiko Kuzuryu. Noted…." Jolyne thought, letting out a barely audible sigh. As she walked up to the front of the classroom, she stood with her hands in front of her, and as she did that, she bowed.
"Hello, my name is Jolyne Brooks. And, rather than tell you my Ultimate Talent seeing as none of you would believe me if I just said it, I'd rather show you," Jolyne started as she lifted herself, looking over to the teacher. She had long orange hair and wore what appeared to be a light blue skirt suit with what appeared to be a white dress shirt underneath. Overtop the outfit was an apron that covered her entire dress. She wore black stockings and black high-heel shoes. "That is, of course, if you'd be so kind as to let me, Sensei," Jolyne asked as the teacher smiled.
"Well, I certainly don't mind. Though I have to ask, what will you need?" The teacher asked as Jolyne smiled curtly.
"A simple knife, that's all," Jolyne replied as the teacher raised an eyebrow.
"A knife? I mean, I don't see why not. Hmm… Pekoyama, can you lend Jolyne here a knife?" The teacher asked as the titular swordswoman looked over to Jolyne. She narrowed her eyes and glanced over to Fuyuhiko, then walked up to him. He passed her a dagger, and with that now in hand, she approached Jolyne and passed her the knife with a glint in her eye.
In response, Jolyne simply stared, took the knife then silently walked over to a desk in front of everyone, all of which who watched with confused anticipation.
"What is she doing?" a teen with bleached blond hair asked, her skin paler than even Jolyne's, and her eyes were as blue as shining diamonds. She wore the same school uniform as everyone else in the room did, though it looked much more regal than everyone else.
"Who knows? We're about to find out, though. If it involves her talent then I'm sure it's worthwhile," a boy with the same colour hair, though a bit more white, asked, his brown eyes gleaming with suspicion. This was Nagito Komeada, someone who knew that Jolyne was a reserve course not only 10 hours ago. "Whatever. She's probably faking it. The unworthy can't be born worthy. Whatever this disgusting faker will be called out as such after this."
Jolyne stared at the knife, then placed her hand on the table smack dab in the center of the table. She raised the knife high up in the air, a slight frown on her face. She didn't know if this would be beneficial to her in the future, but getting it known that she was a mage might allow her to scare Fuyuhiko to call off the assassins. Or maybe not, she didn't know. What she did know, however, was that this would make one hell of an introduction. Not only that, but it would make it so that she would complete the prologue of the "Teachers Pet" quest.
A few people thought she was about to play the knife game—the one where you stab in between one's fingers and increase the speed after each successful hit. However, that was quickly disproven when she stabbed the center of her palm with a mortifying squelch as blood splashed from the wound.
"What in the nine circles is she doing?!" A boy with black and white hair spoke, standing up straight as his scarf flowed behind him. His one red eye and his other grey one widened in confusion as he gripped onto his bandaged arm which had been visible due to his left sleeve having been rolled up. "Is she trying to summon the great demon Beelezubub?!"
"Ibuki thinks she's going to puke!" A girl with black, white, pink, and blue hair said, reclining in shock as she paled ever-so-slightly. She had spiked piercings in her ears, as well as three dotted piercings under her lower lip, along with the school's uniform, minus the tacky blazer.
"T-that's extremely dangerous! W-Why would you do that?!" The voice of Mikan Tsumiki spoke up, her expression one of worry as Jolyne smirked, lifting her hand up to show that the blade stabbed right through her whole hand. A few people's eyes widened, those people being one's who believed that it was some sort of twisted magic trick—the teacher included in that bunch of people.
Then, she ripped the blade out, a gross-sounding squelch following it as blood freely flowed from her now open wound. Several people in the room went green in the face. And then, as the blood dripped from the floor, the blood began to bubble, and as it bubbled, it began to take shape into something.
"H-Hey. Look at the blood… It's… moving?" Teruteru questioned, raising a disgusted eyebrow as Jolyne shook her hand, the blood going toward her arm as it covered it from the upper elbow to the bottom of her hand. As the blood gathered and continued to be pulled from the wound it began to form what appeared to be a gauntlet of sorts, spikes protruding from the elbow downward, going from 2 meters out to a short 5 inches by the wrist. The fingers were clawed, and in the center was a blood red orb, while the rest of the gauntlet was a normal vibrant red colour, all the while her arm glowed a deep crimson.
Wide eyes filled the room. It was like they had witnessed something only seen in movies. A few people, namely one Chiaki Namami – The Ultimate Gamer, who was a pale-skinned, light pink-hair coloured teen wearing the school's uniform – had to rub their eyes to make sure they weren't seeing things. To make sure that their eyes weren't making them see something that wasn't happening. But no matter how many times they tried to deny what just happened, they couldn't find themselves able to do just that.
Jolyne moved the clawed fingers around, the sound of metal scraping up against metal echoing throughout the room enough to make some people flinch. How blood could become as tough as steel was something that they didn't understand, but then again, they just watched someone stab their hand and turn their blood into a gauntlet, so their suspension of disbelief was pretty much shattered.
Whatever reality they had been living in was gone, and now that they were introduced to this once Reserve Course student turned witch, wizard, what have you, it led to them rethinking their opinions about a certain breeder within their class and his inane ramblings.
"If it wasn't apparent already, I guess I should explain. What I just did was something known as Blood Control. A magical spell that I have been practicing for a while now. This is one of the constructs I can create, and right now the only one that I can manage for a prolonged period of time. This is Bear Claw. While I have not tested it out in combat, I do know that it could probably rend bones and flesh to nothing but mere shreds with a single slash. As I said before. I am Jolyne Brooks. And as for my Ultimate Talent, I am The Ultimate Mage. In fact, I am the only mage in existence, as far as my knowledge is concerned at least."
As Jolyne finished her explanation, she scanned around the classroom to gauge their reactions. Wide eyes? Check. Pale faces? Check. Satisfaction on behalf of herself wanting to terrify a bunch of people for no reason other than "just because?" Double check!
Speaking of CHECK, she activated it to see all of her classmates dotted around the room, their names, levels, and surface level stats.

Out of everyone in her class, Jolyne had to admit that she was a bit shocked to find that Gundham, the one with the scarf, had small traces of Mana. It might only be 10, but 10 is better than nothing at all. That would be something she needed to keep on top of. If there was someone other than her who could use magic, she could very well teach him the arts of controlling his Mana and increasing his Mana pool.
Not only that but having someone who could spar with her using magic would be better than not being able to spar with anyone at all.
"Note to self: Train Gundham with his magic and help him increase his Mana pool if possible to make him an actual Overlord of Ice like his nickname in tales," Jolyne thought as she hummed.
The Ultimate Mage looked over to her teacher and smiled. "Oh, where are my manners? Uh, may I ask for your name, Sensei?" Jolyne asked, knowing full well she could just use CHECK to see. However, due to her Mana being almost completely drained and not having enough to cast CHECK again while still using Blood Control and Bear Claw, doing things the old-fashioned way would be far better.
Yes, her Mana regenerated even while using spells. No, she didn't want to re-cast CHECK again. Yes, it was lazy, but she did not care all too much.
After blinking repeatedly, the colour seemed to return to her face as she cleared her throat. "O-Oh, uh, yes! Yukizome Chisa. It's a pleasure to meet you Brooks-san!" Yukizome said as Jolyne smiled.
"A pleasure to meet ya, Yukizome-Sensei," Jolyne replied, looking over to Fuyuhiko, and with a subtle movement, her eyes switched from jovial to determined, which had seemed to be enough to make the boy flinch.
"I don't want to disrupt what everyone has planned, and while I would love to join you all in class today, I have to go for the time being. I was asked by the Headmaster to head to my Ultimate Lab on the top floor after I introduced myself to you all. I will answer questions about what you all saw at a later time. For now, I must be off," Jolyne commented as she turned to leave the room, shaking her arm as her gauntlet flowed back into her hand, along with the rest of the blood she dripped and splashed around the desk.
"Oh, and, if I'm correct on what my CHECK spell said to me when I was surveying all of you… Gundham Tanaka, I believe one of you is named, if you wish to practice and channel your Mana with me later on, I'd be glad to help a fellow mage in the making."
And with that, she left, making a previously wide-eyed Gundham's eyes open even wider than they were previous to her sudden announcement.
Chaos erupted shortly thereafter. Not that Jolyne was able to see it, and nor did she care. She had an Ultimate Lab to check out, and assassins to look out for and eventually kill.

Rewards: 5 Karma (Good), 500 EXP, 1,000 Yen, 1 Gacha Token

And as she stood in front of the slide-open door to her Ultimate Lab, she readied herself, and slowly opened the door…
