Alright, so… can we just talk about how close this poll is for just a second? I wake up, and I see a bunch of nonsense that shouldn't be possible. Yet here it is, possible. As of today, the poll has been closed. So, let's see what the final results of the polling are.
RWBY – 30 votes [Winner]
Genshin Impact – 29
The Owl House – 12
Kuroinu – 8
I'll be completely honest, I wasn't expecting RWBY to win by only one vote, but here we are. Seeing as that is the case, RWBY is the next universe we will be doing after Danganronpa is over. Genshin fans, guys, my people, we failed this time, however, do not fret, we will get them next time (not that I can participate in the polls) but that's beside the point. Seeing as we didn't end in a tie, I can't say that Genshin will be after RWBY. But, that's a long way from now.
Thank you to everyone who participated in the poll! I hope you're all happy with the result! Now, before we get into my response to reviews/comments…
I have a P-Atr-Eon. Please check it out! The links are all in my bios on Wattpad, FF Dot Net, Ao3, and Qoutev. Just in case, here is the link: gobblegum2?fan_landing=true&view_as=public
And now, let's hope into it!
[My response to reviews/comments]
(Qoutev) TACO SENSEI: I'm glad you're loving the story! And don't worry, we still got 11 chapters left before RWBY happens. There is plenty of time for DICE to be taken down. And, to be fair to Jolyne, since she's vowed to save them, she's been busier than a bee during pollinating season… in the hospital. Not to mention Mono dragging her all over the place.
(Qoutev) Shine375: That we shall. And those "followers"… yeah, they're going to die. Nobody likes traitors, and we all know what happens to traitors.
(Qoutev) JammyJam: Your reactions are warranted. That is pretty much the whole chapter in a nutshell.
(Qoutev) Gh0sty.C0ffee: As I said in my reply to that comment on the actual site, due to my headcanon for Kokichi being that he's Aroace, I'm not gonna put him in the Harem. Now… as a guild member…
Kolt999: As the saying goes: Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. Aoba just so happened to play the stupidest game of all and won the most stupid prize. Lesson learned: Don't. Piss off. Kokichi.
And believe me, when I wrote that part with Chiaki being as overpowered as she is now, that was meant to riff on the fact that Jolyne doesn't ask questions. And, seeing as Chiaki is The Ultimate Gamer, she would be the one to find that out. Your take on her being the perfect companion isn't wrong. If only she wasn't insane now…. And as for her being the most overpowered member of The Council… well, you wouldn't be completely wrong. At least, at the moment.
Another thing: Kokichi being OP is to signify just how underprepared Jolyne and Co. are, which would require them to get stronger. Luckily for her, they have the PTD, whereas Chinatsu and DICE don't. Another perk about being a Multiversal Gamer compared to a regular Gamer. And yes, Nagito is laughing in his grave right about now. Karma is a bitch, and there's no bigger bitch than Nagito.
I can't say whether or not Jolyne will learn Probability Magic from Kokichi, or if Kokichi joins The Grey Council. You'll just have to wait and see. And thank you. Originally, I had planned to go all out with that scene, but then I realized it wasn't going to work out, so I went with what I put there instead. And thank you! Have a wonderful day!
Now, with my responses out of the way… Let's jump into the chapter!

[Chinatsu]
"For fucks sake, listen to me, Dad!" Chinatsu shouted at her father, Kyousuke Munakata, who had his back turned to her as he stared out the window behind his desk. She knew her father was headstrong—hell it was the reason why he had even gotten this far in the first place, but there were times when his being headstrong got him into really bad situations, this one included. "You getting into a fight with her could mean the end of The Future Foundation! It could mean the end of you! I can't lose you! You're the only thing that I have aside from Kokichi that amounts to family!" the blue-haired gamer begged, looking at her father as he kept his back turned. Although, he did glance over his shoulder, but that was all that he was willing to give.
"There is nothing you can say to me that will convince me to stop, Chinatsu. If you understand that, then leave," Munakata said, his tone serious and cold.
{Fatherly Affection with Munakata dropped by 25. [025/100}
"Damnit! This fucking idiot!" "Father! Listen to me! You'll kill everyone by doing this! You, Chisa, me, Kokichi, all of us! We'll all die! Is that what you want?!" Chinatsu retorted eyes narrowed as she glared at the man. The man sighed and turned around to fully face her. His expression was cold, unforgiving, and most of all, annoyed.
If it was supposed to make Chinatsu flinch, or worry, it did not. This was a long time coming. She knew that he had finally snapped, and because of that, she was ready for damn near anything he planned to say.
"Listen to me, brat. I took you in, correct? I can also kick you out just as easily. The only reason why I don't kick you and your brother out of here, along with that troublesome gang of yours, is because of this Jolyne Brooks' very existence. Otherwise, I would've kicked you out of here and cut ties with you months ago. You and your brother have brought us nothing but turbulent result after turbulent result, and quite frankly, I have had enough of it."
{Fatherly Affection and Reputation with Munakata dropped by 125. [000/100}
"Now. If you had even an iota of smarts in that vacant brain of yours, you'll see yourself out, and never enter my office again, unless it is to tell me that you're leaving. Those other five individuals, and their leader, Gundham, listen to me more than you ever did. They are the future of this country. Not you or D.I.C.E., you are a failure, and I regret ever adopting you."
But… she wasn't expecting to hear that.
She… didn't even know what to say to that. She didn't know what to do after that. She just stood there, looking at Munakata with a mortified expression. And, instinctively, her left hand clenched into a fist. Chinatsu felt tears bubble in her eyes. "You take that back," Chinatsu growled, glaring at Munakata, whose expression did not change, even in the slightest.
"No. I mean what I say. All you've done has cause us problems. You and your brother. Our funds have been wasted trying to procure magical talent. It would appear that you're not who we're looking for. Or, better yet, maybe there is no such thing as talented magic? Only talent can bring about hope. Those without cannot. I've seen it firsthand. You have no talent, and if you know what was good for you, then you would leave. Chinatsu."
Anger boiled in her veins. He was too far gone. It was clear as day now. She had hoped that maybe after some time, and after the critical hit that The Future Foundation took when the Kuzuryu Clan backed out of their funding, same with Towa Corp, he'd open his eyes and realize that all he was doing was marching toward his demise, financially, and morally.
But, as it appeared, that was not the case.
"Is that how it is, then? You want to throw me and Kokichi away because of this fucking company? Because of this stupid organization? You want to disregard everything because of some stupid Hope Obsession?! Fucking fine, but I won't let you have your cake and eat it, too."
Chinatsu raised her right hand, and a yellow glow covered the outline of her palm. Munakata raised an eyebrow and was about to say something when Chinatsu snarled. "Paralysis."
The moment she cast the spell, Munakata's whole body went rigid, his face stuck in that same stupid expression he had been making the whole time. He tried to speak, but his lips couldn't move, as the only things coming out of his mouth were grunts.
"I don't know what happened to you, Dad, but something must've occurred in the last decade for you to forgo your morals and, evidently, your common sense," Chinatsu began, as she turned to face the doorway. "Unfortunatly for you, you seem to not understand that those with Magic are talented, based solely on the fact that we can use it at all. What you were doing with D.I.C.E. was seeing who had the most talent, I knew that since day one. After you found the prodigy, you were going to wave us away back to the streets. That was the only thing I didn't realize until just now."
Chinatsu began to walk away, as Munakata's grunts and groans became louder, even though he couldn't move his body, his pupils seemed to dilate further as she continued to walk away. "You're not the man I used to know. You're not the man who adopted us from the streets all that time ago. You're a monster, too obsessed with Hope and this ongoing shadow war with Despair to even look your own children in the eye. You'd rather stay with your company than make time for us. But you know what, that's fine!"
Just as Chinatsu opened the door, the blue-haired Gamer smirked, before staring at Munakata with a devious, downright evil smile. "Because you can die along with the Future Foundation that you love oh so much~!"
And with that, as she ignored his screaming grunts, she left. She made a beeline for the training room, and when she got there, everyone was there. Including the new five members of The Future Foundation. She looked pointedly at the group of five and glared at them. "If you want to live in the next 10 minutes, you'll leave this building and stand a far way away."
The redhead, Mahiru Koizumi, if she remembered correctly, who was learning how to use Future Sight, blinked a few times and looked at Chinatsu with a confused expression. "What… do you mean by that?" Mahiru asked, as Kokichi, who she knew had just come back from meeting with Jolyne, had his eyes widen.
"No way… did he really…?" Kokichi asked as Chinatsu nodded. The purple-haired teen bit the tip of his thumb in frustration, before looking to rest of D.I.C.E. and gesturing for them to follow him. Gundham looked at her with a suspicious gleam in his eyes, however, he seemed to have a brain, and followed Kokichi and D.I.C.E. to the exit of the building.
"I'm glad Gozu-san isn't here and is still returning from Hope's Peak…. I'd hate to kill him in the blast…." Chinatsu thought as she sat down on the floor, legs positioned in such a way where both feet were touching, and for her elbows to rest on her thighs, as her hands clapped together. She sat in this position for ten minutes, and once she got the notification that everyone important was out of the building, Chinatsu's eyes opened.
They had become pure, white balls of nothingness. White light leaked out of her hands, as she began to unleash Divine Hellstorm, her most powerful spell, strong enough to level whole buildings in one attack. It was Holy Magic, meaning it was based on how much her faith stat had been specked into. And once she had unlocked it, her faith stat was something she focused on increasing.
And while Divine Hellstorm wasn't at its max potential, she did know this.
It was powerful enough to wipe out this building, and everyone in it from orbit.
After two seconds, she unleashed the spell. And a moment later, a bright white beam of light came crashing down on her, doing no damage to her considering it was her spell. The floors and walls cracked and turned into dust, as screams from everyone else inside the building filled her ears like music.
If her father wanted to get rid of her. She might as well get rid of him, right? It only made sense.
Once the deed was done, and once there was nothing beneath her, she stayed floating in the air using Levitate. She looked beneath her and saw that there was nothing left of the building. No corpses of members. No rubble. No nothing. But most importantly, no Kyosuke Munakata. Floating down from her position, she landed on her legs and walked across the street to see the rest of D.I.C.E. staring at her with wide eyes, along with the other five individuals.
"Let it be known…. That if anyone disregards D.I.C.E., ever again, for being useless…. They will remember this day and pray that it does not happen to them. We've suffered under them for long enough. It's time that D.I.C.E. goes independent," Chinatsu said, before looking over to Gundham Tanaka, Mahiru Koizumi, Hiyoko Saionji, Mikan Tsumiki, and Teruteru Hanamura. "And I think having new members of D.I.C.E. to help celebrate, would be a lovely idea. Don't you think, Tanaka-Kun?"
Gundham stared at her for a few seconds, then sucked in a breath, and nodded. The two shook hands and bowed. After sending him and the others an invite, all of which were accepted in a matter of seconds, D.I.C.E. now grew to having more than 10 members.
"Let's hope The Grey Council will watch the news. I don't doubt for a second that news broadcasters won't catch wind of this, just like they did with Wakasu National park. If they were smart, they'd back off… but if not, I don't mind slaughtering a bunch of weak fools, and a Multiversal Gamer! Lady Mary would be proud of me for such an achievement! She might even break this stupid level cap for me, too!"
And with that last thought, Chinatsu gestured for everyone to follow her, as they travelled to wherever they'd go next.
[Jolyne Brooks]
Waking up in something that wasn't a hospital bed was something that she was grateful for. Finally, she was waking up in something that wasn't a dire condition, and finally, she was sleeping in her dorm room again, and not some shitty, uncomfortable, unlikeable hospital bed. Her eyes trailed down to find that Sayaka was still hugging her, and based on the light snoring she could hear, she was still asleep.
And while Jolyne would've loved to stay like that for another few hours, in the loving embrace of her now girlfriend Sayaka Maizono, there was stuff that needed to be done. Glancing at the time, Jolyne sighed. It was 7:30 in the morning, and that meant that, if she was correct about assuming things, Sayaka needed to be awake and ready right about now.
Thankfully, Jolyne had a spare uniform that was clean, seeing as Sayaka's was not. "Note: find the school's laundry mat and clean Sayaka's uniform and casual wear. Then, meet everyone back at the rooftop for a debrief on what we're going to do, and then, train till our heart's content so that we can beat the snot out of that other Gamer, and the rest of her Guild." As Jolyne thought that, a groan came from her left, as Sayaka slowly sat up, rubbing the sleep out of her eyes.
The idol yawned, covering her mouth as she did so. Jolyne sat up, and stretched, puffing out her chest in the process, which, when she glanced to where Sayaka had been, she noticed a small blush had crept up on her face. A small cracking sound echoed around her, as a satisfied smirk appeared on the mage's face. "Ah~ nothing like a back crack in the morning. That's a sign of good things," Jolyne murmured to herself, looking over to Sayaka, whose blush was now fading. "Mornin', Sayaka," Jolyne said, earning a small smile from the idol.
"Good morning, Jolyne," Sayaka replied, shocking Jolyne with a quick kiss, before gingerly getting out of bed. Jolyne blinked a few times, then smirked, before doing the same. "Uh… Jolyne, I was wondering…. Do you have a spare uniform on you?"
"Knew it." "Hold on, gotta grab it first," Jolyne replied, walking over to one of the dressers, the one with the shorts, and sliding a hand into a shorts pocket. From there, she accessed the inventory and dragged out a freshly cleaned school uniform. She tossed it over her shoulder, before looking over it to see if Sayaka caught it—she did, and she did it with ease.
The idol looked it over and frowned slightly. "It's a bit big…"
Jolyne shrugged. "I'm a bit big, sue me. Besides, I'll get your stuff cleaned after the meeting. Unless you already planned on doing it?" The mage asked, ruffling through the clothing drawers. Seeing as all hoodies were cropped, and seeing as she was all for hoodies, she grabbed a pink one. Why pink? Because why the hell not? Black and white were cool and all, but she needed to wear more than just that. On top of that, she also grabbed a pair of baggy jeans, seeing as she refused to wear the form-fitting kind. Or, as she found out just now, yoga pants. Those made people sweat faster and were way too form-fitting for her. Aside from the usual undergarments, that was what she had planned to wear for the day.
"I was planning on doing my laundry. I use a certain kind of laundry detergent to make sure that nothing gets left on it, and I don't know if you'd know the brand. Thank you for offering, though," Sayaka replied.
"No probs," the dual-haired teen said, laying the clothes on her side of the bed, well, at least the side she woke up on. Jolyne noticed Sayaka biting her lip and raised an eyebrow. She seemed… troubled, and now Jolyne was curious. "Uh… what's up? Something on your mind?"
Sayaka tensed, then glanced at Jolyne. "Uh… about last night…. I'm, sorry for what I did…."
Jolyne rolled her eyes, sighing. "Look, Sayaka, it's… well it's not fine. I get that you were heated, and I get that I had wound you up by being all flirty and whatnot, and I'm sorry for leading you on. Just… ask first. Okay? Like I said last night. I don't mind doing it with you, hell, it'd be my first time as well, so you're not the only one new to it. But I'm just… not ready. Okay?"
Sayaka nodded, her mood seemingly changing back to happy, or at least a facsimile of being happy. "Alright, that's good to know," Sayaka said, turning around to face the bathroom. "Uh… do you want the first shower, or can I?"
Jolyne scoffed. "You're the one who has classes. My class is dead and or missing. You go first," Jolyne replied, as Sayaka nodded, though her expression changed to a more concerned one. She was probably thinking about the missing ones—the ones that most likely were going to be after their throats now. Which, to be honest, Jolyne wouldn't be too shocked about.
Once the idol disappeared into the bathroom, Jolyne sat down on the bed and cupped her chin. She knew that she needed to train. But time flew by fast in the PTD. How long would she end up staying in there with The Guild, because she was planning on bringing them all in there so that they could get stronger? Mukuro didn't need it, per se, what with her being level 750. But, she also had no magic abilities or Mana.
Then again, did Mukuro even need magic? She was The Ultimate Soldier and all. Hell, without magic, she could catch bullets with her hands. That kind of inhuman reaction time had to mean she had inhuman strength too, and maybe inhuman speed. Bullets went at the speed of sound, so that meant that she could move that fast.
For a human, that was impressive.
And so, with that in mind, Jolyne devised a plan.
"Mukuro will be the one to guard this room and my Ultimate Lab," Jolyne thought, grabbing her last spell token. "I have no idea what level Junko is… or if she has magic or not. She has yet to display any of those abilities, CHECK revealed nothing to me, so I'll have to ask her if she does or not during the meeting. Natsumi already has a spell, though I have yet to see what else she has at her disposal."
The mage flipped the coin several times in her hands, sighing. "Then there are the children. They all have Stand Abilities. I think that's more than enough for them at the moment. Giving them magic on top of a Stand would be too much for their brains to handle. Unless it's a passive spell, that is, and I can't be too sure if that's what's going to come out of the Token, and not something stupid like an overpowered "summon God" spell or whatever."
Jolyne flopped backward on the bed, staring up at the ceiling, the light reflecting off of her nightgown, which caused it to show off more skin. Not that she gave a damn, but that was beside the point. "And Chiaki already has Dragons Lightning. I can't in good conscience give her another token. I like her, but she's fucking crazy. I'm not gonna play favourites with Sayaka, she already got one… and it gave her an instant Death skill. It probably has some consequence like draining her Mana reserves per use, or at least using half of it." Jolyne hummed, turning over to her side and tracing the blankets in a circle with her index finger.
"I still have a few Stand Discs, but I think I'm gonna save those for when the opprunitity presents itself. Seeing as I can effectively mind control anyone when I force one on them, Jin being a perfect example…." Jolyne sat up again, glancing over at the calendar. It hadn't been changed since… "Fuck… what month is it? The calendar still says it's March, yet…."
The mage shook her head, that wasn't important. The date wasn't important. As far as she was concerned, figuring out what she was going to do was more important.
[Plus 5 INT for wise decision-making]
Jolyne dismissed the pop-up and continued her train of thought. "Hnn… I could always be greedy. But… even still, I already have enough spells at my disposal." Jolyne pursed her lips. That wasn't true, and she knew it. There were going to be people who were infinitely stronger than she was. And while she didn't know exactly how strong Kokichi had been, him being able to knock away her Great Eruption like it was nothing was definitely worrying.
Although, she did notice one thing. He never once tried to do two things. Maybe it was because he didn't think he'd have to, but Jolyne had a sneaking suspicion that he couldn't handle more than one thing happening at once. For example, she assumed that he couldn't deflect one thing at the same time. But then again, that was all that it was, an assumption. And if she tried to figure out what exactly he could do via some dumbshit like going after him at the level she was at, she'd just be killing herself.
"Fuck it. I'm pretty sure I'll get something stupid out of it anyway. C'mon game, let's go!" Jolyne thought, beginning to snap the coin in half. What she didn't expect, was for it to glow black. "Uh… Mono? What the hell is this?!" Yet Mono didn't respond. The dual-haired mage felt a sense of dread coming off the coin, but there was nothing that she could do about it. She had already started snapping it, and her fingers weren't letting up no matter how hard she tried.
So whatever was about to come out of this coin, she had no choice but to take it. And it made her worry. And so, by the time she was done snapping the coin, black and red energy flashed over her in an instant, as she felt a great big knockback almost strong enough to send her tumbling into the wall just outside the shower. A dark, shadowy-like being rose up from the coin, and slammed into her stomach, causing Jolyne to gasp in pain.
It felt like something had entered into her body, possessed like a demon wound, and started worming its way through her body. She felt her blood run cold, and her mouth go numb. Try as she might, she couldn't move, not even an inch. It almost felt like she was on the other end of her Despair Aura spell. But this… this was far more potent.
A chill ran down her spine, as the sensation of whatever the fuck just hit her died down. It was almost like the coin… attacked her. Not only that, but it hurt, a lot. She took no damage from it, thankfully, but it was something that she never wanted to feel again.
And then, a pop-up came out of nowhere.
[New Spell Unlocked]
[Demonic – Soul Tear] (Lv. 1/1)
Description: By flicking your hand upward, you can shoot out a concentrated, and focused blast of pure Hell Energy, and hit someone directly at their soul. Upon being hit by this, their soul will be torn to shreds, stunning them immediately, and breaking their will to do anything for a few minutes. There is a 5% chance for instant death to occur when someone is blasted with Soul Tear. This spell costs 1,500 Mana to perform, after which, there is a 10-minute cooldown between blasts. Every use of the spell will also do damage to you in percentages. The first use is 5% of your total health. The second use is 10%, and so on, up until you hit 90%, at which case every subsequent hit is a guaranteed instant kill, but at the cost of nearly all of your HP.
.
Perma Debuff Gained – Demonic Rage
Description: When you've lost almost all of your health, you will enter a state of barbarism, so fierce that you cannot tell the difference between friend and foe. While you will become invulnerable to all attacks for 5 minutes, as well as all your stats being increased by 250%, you will lose control of your senses, and attack anything that moves.
.
Perk Unlocked – Blood Drinker
Description: No, this does not turn you into a vampire, but you can now drink blood. Depending on the Blood type, you will receive a random buff of random quality. Also, blood will taste like sweet cherry juice when you drink it, so you don't have to taste that yucky copper crap! Blegh! Gross!
Jolyne blinked a handful of times upon seeing the three text boxes appear in front of her. She… unlocked a new spell, and she got a permanent debuff for having it? What kind of ass backwards bullshit was that?! Better yet, there were higher ranks than Mythical? If Demonic was anything to go off of, then that implied there was the opposite, that being Holy magic.
But still… why didn't Mono or Daimen tell her about them? That seemed like a massive oversight, or, at the very least, a stupid play that would only harm her in the long run. And what if someone other than her had been the one to snap that coin, and get assaulted like that? It wasn't just a simple attack. It felt… different. She felt… violated after it had slammed into her. Like something inside of her had been ripped apart and stitched back together.
It was awful and had it not been for her magic defence and endurance being so high, she might've been killed by that, or worse. At least, that was what it felt like….
"Mono… what the fuck, was that?!"
[I can sense your confusion, Jolyne Brooks. So, allow me to explain. Demonic Magic and Holy Magic are like secret rewards that you can get from the Gacha system. They are so rare, that they do not even show up in the potential prize pool. In order to even unlock either side, you have to have above 100 Karma in either good or evil. Considering you have 150 evil Karma, that means that you have unlocked the chance for Demonic Magic to be given to you. The same would've happened if you picked good Karma, but for Holy Magic. However, Demonic Magic is dangerous, and comes with a lot of take away's to balance it. Such as Soul Tear and its self-damage. And, all Demonic Spells are maxed out at level 1, so they cannot get stronger. They are also exclusive to Gamers, so you wouldn't have to worry about any of your allies or Guild Members accidentally getting Demonic or Holy Magic.]
That was… a lot to take in. It was also slightly relieving that no one else would have to deal with that nonsense. But still, one thing bugged her about this whole "Demonic" and "Holy" magic nonsense. "Why did I get a Perma debuff? Is that something that's unavoidable, and applied to both sides, or what?"
[Holy Magic gives traits and skills, while Demonic Magic gives Perma debuffs and Perks. Normally, Regular Gamers can only pick one and use that kind of magic permanently, at least, when applied to those two categories. But, seeing as you are a Multiversal Gamer, you can wield both Demonic Magic and Holy Magic. You are not locked behind any choice. But keep in mind, you can only unlock Holy Magic once you get your Good Karma up to 100. You can't increase it now because you've been locked into this route, but in the next universe, you can do whatever you please in terms of routes. At least, until you lock yourself into a certain route, that is.]
Jolyne sighed, standing up as she tried to regain her balance. She looked at the wall behind her and noticed that a small dent had been caused by it. She frowned, as the door to the bathroom opened. Sayaka came out, her expression dripping in worry, her hair still wet, with only a towel covering her modesty.
"Jolyne, what happened?" Sayaka asked as the mage shrugged.
"I snapped open a Spell Token, and when I received the spell, it launched me into the wall because of the force of the acquirement," Jolyne replied, rubbing the back of her head. "That's the first time that's happened, and I hope it'll be the last…."
Sayaka looked at her as if she had gone insane, shrugged, then slinked back into the bathroom to get changed into her school attire. When she came back out, Jolyne realized just how big the blazer looked on her. She might've only been an inch taller than Sayaka, but her weight had been the thing that made it look bigger.
Jolyne would like to think that she was at least a decent weight, 125 pounds wasn't obese, nor was it fat, but Sayaka's measly 70 pounds was fucking mental. She looked like a stick, and it showed. Jolyne's school uniform on her looked like a pair of balloon pants draped over her body. Even so, Sayaka didn't seem too annoyed by it. "I see what you mean now," Jolyne quipped as Sayaka giggled to herself.
"Well, it's not actually as bad as I thought it was going to be," Sayaka said, tugging at the sleeves. "While it does look a little bit big, it's not too bad. It honestly could be worse," the idol said, before heading toward the door. "Well, gotta go! I'll see everyone at lunch period!"
And with that, Sayaka was out of the dorm, as Jolyne smiled. Now, it was her turn to take a shower. And after that, she'd check out the Cafeteria to get something to eat. And after that, she would probably read that Chronicles of Nick book she had started. And then, she'd meet everyone at the rooftop to discuss their plans.
Jolyne let out an annoyed groan. "Being the leader of a Guild is so much work~!" And with that thought, she grabbed her change of clothes and walked into the bathroom to have that coveted shower, and so that she could actually start her day.
[Makoto Naegi]
There were a lot of things that you could call Makoto Naegi. Boring. Repetitive. Useless. Average. Hopelessly average. Dull. Normal. Overtly normal. Etcetera. The list went on. On that list of things, Makoto believed half of those things, that being that he was Average, hopelessly so, dull, and normal beyond a reasonable extent. Although, Makoto wouldn't say that he was boring, repetitive, or useless.
Besides, his classmates seemed to think he was okay. He even got to see Sayaka again, even if she had hardly remembered him. They had nice conversations every now and again, and he would be the first to admit that he had a slight crush on her, but then again, who didn't? She was world-renowned as an Idol, so it was understandable that people would have a crush on her.
The only thing separating him from those people was that he was realistic. He knew that there was a below-zero chance of them ever being a thing. They lived in two completely different worlds. Makoto only got into Hope's Peak based on luck, and that was it.
Besides, what exactly would that relationship entail? Him being a housewife while she was out working herself to the bone, and being too tired to do anything afterward? Sure, more people would kill just to have a chance to have that reality. But Makoto wanted to do his own thing. Another thing that Makoto was was carefree. He had dreams of his own, even if they were a bit generic.
So that kind of idea, or relationship for that matter, was not what he wanted. He wanted to be in a relationship where both parties did an equal amount of work, and where there was no reason to have to be kept up with some stupid drama. He knew his place in the world, and that was as a regular person, even if he was a Hope's Peak Academy Student.
Well… that was before now. Back then, before things started to get weird, he had that view of himself. Now? Not so much. And the reason behind that was because of his luck and… another thing. But, that was for later.
To explain what he was talking about when it came to his luck: there would be times that he put in two 100 yen coins in the vending machine, and 10 cans of his favourite drink would come out instead, even before he had pressed the button. There was also the time when he had dodged all the dodge ballsduring a gym class, and the thrower was Sakura Ogami of all people. There was a time when he narrowly avoided being involved in a shooting in a library when he went to get a book for Kyoko, who was in the hospital after recovering from a gruesome injury that she didn't want to talk about.
He had absolutely no idea as to how that was happening. But, he noticed it start to happen after it was found out that Nagito Komaeda had died. The day after was when his luck had increased. Of course, he had found out that whenever his luck did do something, he'd get a splitting headache, but that was it.
Oh, and then there was Kyoko, whom he thought he had befriended. At least, with how they spoke to one another, which wasn't very often, she'd call him by his first name and never just "Naegi" as everyone else did. He had assumed it had to do with the whole "being the reason why she had been taken to the Hospital and saving her life" thing.
It was funny. Well, maybe not funny, but it was an interesting story. He was walking down the hallway and had passed by The Ultimate Magician, Jolyne Brooks. The two spoke for a brief second about how the weather was abnormally good for the middle of fall, and departed after that. When he turned the corner, however, he had found Kyoko writhing in pain and clutching a skeletal hand. Her skeletal hand, to be exact.
Immediately, he had grabbed his phone from the pocket of his blazer and thanked God it had a full charge. He called 119, and minutes later paramedics arrived to take her to the hospital. He got caught up in his studies afterward, but after a week, he went to see her, and she had seemed happy to see him. That was good, at least.
He remembered grabbing her skeletal hand, something she tried to stop, and when he did, something… strange happened. His hands… he didn't know what happened, but they glowed a deep yellow. Like he had been embuing something onto her. The next thing he knew, she could perfectly move the thing like it had nerve endings and muscle.
He still couldn't explain it. But ever since then, the doctors had called him in to help other patients. In the last month alone, he had activated this strange yellow glow at least 20 times, and all 20 of those times, those who had been touched by his golden glow were healed of all their ailments, terminal or otherwise. They simply…. Ceased to exist.
He remembered something that Hifumi, before the incident, had mentioned to him., in Dungeons and Dragons, there was a class that you could play as called "Paladin," which gave the player a skill called Lay On Hands, which acted as a healing skill, something that was crucial to some campaigns. That was what he had started to call this mystical ability he had gained out of nowhere.
Or maybe, it wasn't out of nowhere, and he had it for the longest time without a need to activate it? Whatever it was, it had caught a few people's eyes, and he had helped out those who needed it. One thing he learned was that, while his newfound power could heal others, it had a limit. He couldn't make them magically grow back limbs, nor could he bring others back from the dead.
What he did find out that he could do was allow the elderly to feel young and brisk again, such as with Tengen, the school's former Headmaster. While he appeared old, when he used the ability on him, he no longer needed the cane that he used. He could walk normally, with no hunched back, no nothing. He had regained his former strength, as well as agility and stamina, all the while appearing old.
And after he found out about that, he did something that changed his life irrevocably after that, and in his opinion, it was for the worst.
He had gone to nursing homes and given the elderly their youth back and had even helped his mother with her arthritis, giving her that mobility she hadn't had in two decades. There was just one caveat. Whatever he did to heal others drained him completely afterward. He had to sleep for long periods after using it once. After he used it on Kyoko, he had passed out right then and there, unaware of what he did.
Of course, the more he used it, the more he found it easier to not be knocked out after each use. But that point still stood, whatever it was he had gotten, and whatever his luck had done to give him it, was something that he was grateful for.
That being said, the steering committee had asked to speak to him, and after a terrifying meeting with them, and demonstrating his powers and explaining to them what the drawbacks were, they had changed his Ultimate title. He was no longer The Ultimate Lucky Student, but rather, The Ultimate Miracle Worker.
Honestly, he had no idea how to feel about it. It wasn't a talent, it was a power he was given by some… being or whatever it was. That being said, he was all over the news as being known as the kid who allowed a bunch of elderly people to feel their youth again, and as a person who could cure cancer with a single touch. Some people had their doubts, even some people calling him a fraud, but even so, he couldn't help but agree with them.
He wasn't some miracle worker. He just so happened to awaken some stupid power that he didn't even want, and now, here he was, back in the hospital, using his power on yet another person and healing them of their stage 3 lung cancer. The person in question was a 10-year-old boy, and when he was done, he felt extremely tired after the fact.
Makoto was thanked, and sent on his way, stumbling out of the hospital room with an almost dreadful amount of exhaustion. He was hardly ever at school anymore, often finding himself bouncing from home to home healing the sick. And it had only been a week since he got this newfound ability.
Was that what being a true Ultimate felt like? Because if it was, he hated it. He hated it. No, he didn't hate it per se, but he was beginning to long for the days of mediocrity. Slumping against a wall, Makoto let out a small, tired sigh. He just wanted to sleep, get something to eat, and sleep some more. He was getting so fed up with having to bounce from place to place, and with his schedule becoming more and more hectic, he was starting to think that he was slowly becoming a slave.
The only reason why he was continuing this nonsense was that for every person he healed, the hospital e-transferred his parents and himself 100,000 Yen. He had been able to make over 2.4 Million Yen in less than a week, and now, his parents had moved from that old house they lived in, to something nicer, and with enough room to finally get a dog—a Shibainu, to be exact.
"Mr. Naegi," a voice called out, as Makoto lazily lifted his head from the slouched form he had taken up. In the distance was another doctor, and he almost wanted to curse him out for even being in his field of vision. The doctor continued to approach him, and once he got close, he stopped. "Mr. Naegi, we have a resting room set up for you. Unless, of course, you wish to head home, in which case I can arrange for someone to pick you up."
"Option two…" Makoto drawled, as the doctor nodded, before walking away. He had already healed his sister of her illness, which she was thankful for. If he remembered correctly, she was trying to get into contact with Brooks-senpai, because she wanted to know how she was doing. Despite having told Komaru that she was fine, and was actively in school, that wasn't enough for Komaru.
And speaking of Brooks. Makoto found it… odd. Ever since she showed up, things had… changed, around Hope's Peak Academy, and not for the better. On the first day she showed up, a Reserve Course student was rushed to the hospital. Two days later, assassins are reported to have tried to kill her and caused damage to the school's property. A few weeks later, things seem normal, until Class 77 – B goes missing, with the only people coming back being Jolyne Brooks, The Ultimate Magician, and Chiaki Nanami, The Ultimate Gamer.
And now, things were starting to go back to normal…. Until yesterday, when a random gust of wind happened, and destroyed the school's emblem, causing it to fall on someone... that being Celestia Ludenburg, a classmate of his…. She died instantly.
And he witnessed it firsthand.
Her blood splashed all over his face and clothes.
That twisted, marred expression was forever burned in his subconscious.
Because of it, he felt…. Changed. He felt himself become more… apathetic. He didn't know why, but a part of him thought that it was just his brain's way of coping after seeing something that gruesome.
Because of her death, Hifumi became a shut-in, and later found him in his dorm room on campus, dead, his wrists slit and a suicide letter saying that "he couldn't live in a world without his "master" and that he would serve her in the afterlife."
Not that Makoto was one to judge… but she seemed to hate him. Well, then again, maybe not. They did seem close. Maybe there was something there. Hifumi had been working out so that he could "better serve his master." Celeste had also started calling him Hifumi instead of Yamada, so there might have actually been something there.
With people dying so much, Makoto was feeling a pit open in his gut. And while he hadn't really known why that had happened, he chalked it up to how things had begun to change around the school. Before, walking through the gates gave him a sense of hope. Now, he dreaded walking through those gates.
"Whatever… at least I'm going home. Tomorrow… Tomorrow will be better. I'm taking a break tomorrow. I'm going to ignore every phone call, and I'm going to sleep all day… or play Mario Kart with Komaru. I'll probably do both…" Makoto thought, before standing up and heading toward the exit of the hospital.
He just hoped that someone else was having a better day than him. Nothing could be worse than how he was having it right now.
Right?

"Perfect Shield Wall. God-like Strength. Godspeed. God-like Reflexes. Perfect Reflect Damage. Unbreakable Endurance. That should be enough… not that it matters…" A tired, bored-sounding tone of voice murmured as a six-foot-tall, lanky teenager with long black hair that flowed all the way down to the center of his knees, stood in front of a massive titan of a machine, built by the former Ultimate Robotisitc.
Not that it would be there for much longer.
The boy took a single step to the right and was already behind the giant robot before it could reel its arm back. The boy then reeled his arm back, and punched the robot in the side of its dome, destroying the robot's head while also decapitating it at the same time, the shockwave of which caused cracks to form in the Bomb-tested and cleared for use glass that those pesky scientists stood behind.
"Tch…" the boy thought, before landing on the ground similar to that of how a superhero would. "Even with this robot… it goes down in one hit. How boring…." The boy thought, standing up straight as he dusted himself off, deactivating the spells he casted on himself.
"Amazing, Izuru! Keep up the great work!" An irritating voice came over the intercom, as Izuru snarled. He didn't acknowledge the voice, simply walking down the hallway back to his "room" which was more or less a holding cell. They kept him couped in there almost 24/7, only to take him to test their latest robot or whatever on him to see if he could destroy it or not.
And ten times out of ten he did. Without fail. He knew that he would, and they knew that he would, yet they kept doing it anyway. They made him perfect. Why the hell wouldn't they realize that yet? Emotionless he may be, but that didn't mean he couldn't get angry or irritated. He wasn't a robot, he was human. He might've been created, true, but he still had some emotions that were fundamental to being human.
And right now, he was irritated. Very irritated. He wanted to explore the world, not be used as a test subject. He could easily break out and kill everyone here. It would be a very simple task. But, at the same time, they had this little chip in the back of his neck that he couldn't reach, which forced him inside the cell once they said "keep up the great work." His body would move on its own, marching him back to that claustrophobic cell of his and keeping him sitting in that same, stupid-looking position until a guard came to get him to do more experiments.
Now, granted, four days ago, he had come really close to destroying the chip during a test by setting off the fire alarms in the building using Fire Tornado and blocking them from hard booting the sprinkler system by using Technology Destroyer to get at the computers. From there, he dug into his neck usinghis superior strength, and narrowly, just narrowly, was he able to get the damn thing out.
Until they regained control, and forced him into a stationary stance, knocking him out, moving the chip further down his back, and keeping him from doing anything about it.
And while it all seemed hopeless, he was The Ultimate Hope, so he didn't really have a choice but to hope that something would come along and help him. When that didn't happen on day three, he gave up on the idea that someone else would show up.
However, that didn't mean he had completely given up. He was working on something. He had been researching a lot of different applications of his magics. And if he could somehow use Technology Destroyer within his own body, he could destroy that stupid micro-chip, and be free from this testing nightmare.
And once he got out, he would go after everyone on the steering committee, and make them understand just who was in charge. And then… he'd find out why there was this annoying voice in the back of his head telling him to go back to Hope's Peak Academy. A school where the best of the best join forces and help each other grow, and become better for it.
And deep down, a part of him knew that there. At that school. Something was there for him. He didn't know what it was… but he wanted to know. He was determined to find out what exactly it was that was calling him there. Why his mind was so hard focused on going back?
Maybe it was the remnants of that boy Hajime Hinata, who became his vessel to enter this world, that wanted to go back to Hope's Peak Academy? If so… he'd have to agree with it. After all, as far as he was concerned, while his name might've been Izuru Kamakura, he was also, in some very strange, very bizarre way, Hajime Hinata.
After all… it was his blood that made this body move. It was his skin that he lived in. It was his eyes that he used to see through the world. It was his lungs he used to breathe in the air around him. In retrospect, he was a parasite, leeching off of Hajime Hinata's body. But, then again, it was what Hajime Hinata wanted.
So, in that sense… maybe it was his body now…. Honestly, he didn't care. All that he cared about was what it was that drew him to Hope's Peak Academy.
"Perhaps there… I will find someone who will be my equal…. So that maybe, just maybe, this world won't be as boring as I envision it being, and not as infuriating as this stupid, waste of my time underground dungeon, portrays it to be," Izuru thought, frowning as he tapped his fingers against the ground. "And perhaps there… I'll find the person who allowed these old sacks of flesh to give me these supernatural, beyond logical abilities… And if I find them… I will annihilate them for making my life a pain in the ass."
