Kendall was loving life at the Palm Woods more than ever the past two weeks, and he could count one simple reason for that change, Jo. Ever since the dance, when they both were happy to declare they were together, together as boyfriend and girlfriend, absolutely nothing made Kendall happier than seeing Jo every single day.

They spent every morning in Palm Woods School sitting side by side, and while both were avid students, but not quite as avid as Logan, they always made their lessons a lot more fun together, either by passing notes back and forth to each other or whispering jokes that made each other crack up just enough to not be caught by Ms. Collins.

Plus they each had a new favorite study partner whenever they wanted, and while not always the most ideal dates, they always managed to even enjoy math as long as they were doing it together. Although for math and science, they usually studied in a group with Logan and Camille to ask Logan questions when needed.

They had also gradually learned more about each other and of course, grew closer. One weekend they decided to spend one day watching a hockey game on TV together, and Kendall may have miscalculated watching it with the other guys…let's just say Jo still wasn't a hockey lover, or a lover of snacks and soda in her hair from Carlos' celebration after the Wild scored a goal.

But then in return the next day, Kendall had watched an ice dancing competition on TV, and his opinion of ice dancers/figure skaters still hadn't changed, and Jo may have caught him drifting off a few times, but she didn't mind. The fact that they were together was more than enough for both of them.

And while Jo had officially met Katie and his mom, who both loved her already, Kendall had also met her dad, and Kendall discovered it was possible for him to be scared of someone's frown even more than Griffin's evil grin when he had a "fantastic new idea" for the band to do.

But most importantly, Kendall wouldn't change a thing about the last two weeks, but he would never have too much Jo, so once he found out he had another day off, he was quick to text Jo on the way back home to the Palm Woods.

Kendall and the rest of Big Time Rush had just returned to the Palm Woods since Gustavo needed more time to work on the new song for Jordin Sparks, which was good news for Kendall since he now had a free day to spend with Jo.

The other three were all riled up about how unfair it was that Gustavo banned them from even talking to Jordin because they were bad luck. Kendall didn't really care, sure they may break things a lot, but it was either because of Carlos, or for a very good reason. Usually at least.

So was Kendall a bit bummed about not being allowed to talk to Jordin Sparks? Sure a little bit, but just like always, there was only one girl on his mind.

"Guys, we're not bad luck." Kendall reminded Carlos and Logan after James ran off in a panic since he broke a mirror, was hit with a football and sunscreen, and was tackled by a crowd of pool-goers. "Just enjoy the day, like I'm going to enjoy my day with Jo by the pool."

Kendall was about to leave the lobby, but Carlos and Logan both grabbed him around the shoulders to stop him.

"Woah, Gustavo said, don't go to the pool if Jordin's there." Logan reminded him.

Kendall rolled his eyes but was thankful when he saw Jordin getting up out of her chair and carrying her purse and sheet music with her. "Oh look, she's leaving!" Kendall continued on his way, not being deterred from spending time with Jo just because Gustavo thought they were all Bad Luck Rush.

Right as he was about to cross paths walking by Jordin, Kendall planned to give her a friendly smile and that was it, but suddenly she tripped on something and Kendall instinctively caught her with his arms around her waist and upper back, and Jordin grabbed onto his shoulders.

"Um…thanks." Jordin sounded surprised as she looked up into his eyes only a few inches separating them.

"It was a lucky catch." Kendall smiled back and acted like it was no big deal.

"Kendall?" Jo's familiar voice called out.

Kendall looked up to meet her questioning gaze. "Jo." He smiled at her just as brightly as always, and then he remembered he was still hanging onto Jordin when he glanced down at her again. "This isn't what it looks like."

"Really?" Jo asked in disbelief, "Because it looks like you're embracing Jordin Sparks."

"It does look that way, doesn't it?" Jordin laughed awkwardly, and Kendall did his best to join in.

"Right." Jo turned around away from the pool, likely back to her apartment. "Let me know when you're done with Jordin and are ready to hang out with me like we planned!" She called out, a twinge of annoyance in her voice.

Kendall grimaced as Jo walked away, and he finally helped Jordin back to her feet.

"So…" Jordin said awkwardly, "Is she your girlfriend?"

"Yep, and now it looks like I'm in the doghouse." Kendall sighed.

"Sorry for the bad luck."

"No! No bad luck, obviously I just have to tell her it was a random accident and I was just helping you out. She'll understand. Speaking of, I should probably get going."

"Good luck." Jordin called out.

Kendall ran through the lobby and got on the elevator up to apartment 2I, and knocked on the door. "Jo! It's me! I can explain!"

A few moments later the door opened and Jo was standing there with an annoyed look on her face, "Alright, explain."

"Hey Jo, look that whole thing down by the pool, I wasn't embracing Jordin. I walked right past her and she tripped on something and I caught her. There is nothing going on between me and her."

"Really, because it sure seemed like you both knew who you were. And I could see Carlos and Logan watching from behind you. Is this like how you all tried to "impress" me when I moved in?"

"No way, of course not. Jo, I swear, Jordin means nothing to me. Gustavo even told us to stay away from both her and the studio until she's done recording her new song. And I have no problems with that because there is only one girl I want to spend my day with, and she's standing right in front of me."

"Really? So you really don't have a thing for Jordin Sparks? I mean she is pretty, and already an amazing, famous singer." Jo said, trying to sound upbeat and teasing to hide her the fear she had felt earlier and was still feeling a little bit of even now.

"I don't have a thing for her. I only have a thing for you. Is she a talented person? Yes. But you are the amazing Jo Taylor. I told you I want to spend my day off with you. Let me make it up to you, and let's spend today together, just like we planned."

"OK, and how are you going to do that?" Jo raised an eyebrow in question.

"Easy, how would you like to join me in an hour for a girly romantic picnic by the pool?"

"Alright, I'll see you then," Jo said quietly and then shut the door. She walked back over to her couch, sat down, and stared off into space. She wouldn't lie to herself and say she wasn't mad…and a bit jealous when she saw Kendall holding another girl in his arms, but Kendall had obviously been terrified of her seeing them and getting the wrong idea and then willing to explain everything to her. OK, she'd go to the lunch and she knew she could forgive Kendall, especially since there was nothing really to forgive. But she wouldn't mind seeing what he'll do to make up for it.

Well, that could have gone better. Did Jo really think he cared about Jordin Sparks more than her? Well, he'd just have to prove that she could count on him. So he came up with a plan to make up for this morning.

He got everything ready, but when he got back to the pool with the plate of fancy sandwiches, Carlos and Logan were standing next to each other in suits and sunglasses like secret agents.

"I want no part of this," Kendall said flat out. He already had his own mess to clean up.

"Sir, have you seen Jordin?" Logan and Carlos asked him.

"No, and that's the way I want it. Jo thinks I have a thing for Jordin, but she'll change her mind when she sees the nice, girly, romantic lunch I made for her."

"Good luck dude, I hope it works out," Logan said before he and Carlos dashed off to somewhere else. Kendall just rolled his eyes at their antics and focused on making sure everything was perfect when Jo arrived soon.

But then as Jordin was walking past the pool again, a cat flew out of nowhere and landed in her hair hissing and scratching up a storm. She stumbled around blindly until she sat down in the chair by Kendall's table so he reached out to pull the cat off her and threw it away over his shoulder.

After he did so, Kendall sat down to catch his breath. "You ok?"

"Yeah, thanks, Kendall," Jordin said, still breathing heavily.

"Oh! So now you're having a girly romantic lunch with Jordin?" Jo walked up to the table and crossed her arms at him.

Kendall looked from her annoyed face to Jordin's surprised expression, and then down at the girly romantic food sitting in front of them. "No, no I promise this isn't what it looks like!"

Jo glared at him and walked off without saying a word.

"You know, I'm not sure the Palm Woods is as lucky as I remember." Jordin sighed as she attempted to fix her hair.

"Tell me about it." Kendall sighed. "Now I'm happy to help you out, but please stay away from me so I can fix things with Jo?"

"I understand, and I'll do my best. I'm probably just going to go back to my room and keep working on my song."

"Have fun." Kendall waved halfheartedly as he rushed to think of a new idea that could show Jo how much she means to him.

About another hour later, Jo walked through Palm Woods Park ready for Kendall's promised makeup, makeup date. She was still a bit annoyed at him for how she kept catching him with Jordin, but he had once again promised he could explain everything, so she could hear him out, again, but she couldn't find him anywhere. So she did the next best thing when she saw the other three guys standing near the wishing well.

"Hey guys, have you seen Kendall?"

"Um, uh…" Logan stuttered.

"He's over there…" James pointed off to the left.

"He's not in a well!" Carlos shouted in a panic.

"What?" Jo stepped closer and looked down the well, she could recognize the top of his head down there but also… "Kendall? And is that Jordin?"

"It's not what it looks like!" Kendall and Jordin both shouted.

You know what? She didn't even want to know how this happened. The only thing that mattered to her was how inseparable Kendall and Jordin apparently were. He could get out on his own whenever he was ready. She wasn't going to wait for him.

Jo marched back up to her apartment and closed her door behind her when she made it back to her room. She sat down on her bed and lay down, facing the ceiling, trying to work through all the thoughts running through her head. While she may have been opposed to Kendall's attempts to date her originally, he had quickly wormed his way into her heart so that she couldn't help liking him. He cared so much about all of his friends and family, and he was always so sweet, but also devious when he needed to be, just like she was.

She had felt like this before, when Kendall forgot to ask her to the dance, and she had worried if he had asked someone else instead of her, but today… Ok, Kendall catching Jordin and helping her out, she could believe it. But why would he be sitting at the lunch with her, that he had promised Jo was for them? And now they were stuck in a well, together, just the two of them. She was used to hearing about all the insane situations and messes Kendall and the guys got themselves into. Once was forgivable, twice was a coincidence, but three times was too much to ignore. Three times today Kendall had promised something fun for them to do, but every time she saw him, he was with Jordin, and way too close to her for Jo's liking.

They had only been officially dating for two weeks, but Jo couldn't help herself. She really, really liked Kendall, no matter what they were doing together, and even when it was something they disagreed on what was fun, as long as they were together their time was always amazing. But today they weren't together, despite all the promises Kendall made, he had time after time been with Jordin. And here she thought he was hers, and she was his, but Kendall must not feel the same way. Was he really like James, who "accidently" asked out 10 girls to the dance? Plus Jordin Sparks was already rich and famous, maybe even more so than Jo could ever be. Beyond a few music videos with BTR she hadn't had any big breaks yet.

Was Jo being a bad girlfriend, being so protective and admittedly…jealous? She let Kendall explain the first time, but when nothing changed from what she could see, over and over again, she didn't think she was in the wrong. But whatever he could get out of whatever mess he was in by himself and whenever he was ready he knew where to find her.

Jo lay there fuming for a while, because being mad at Kendall, and jealous of Jordin, even though she wasn't as happy to admit that, were both easier to think about than the other emotions she was hiding beneath the surface.

The next day after everyone made it out of the well, and Jordin convinced Gustavo to make Count On You a duet with Big Time Rush, it was time for Jordin to leave so she could head back to her tour. She had all her bags packed and was saying goodbye to all the guys in the lobby.

"You guys, good luck on your album." Jordin pulled Carlos and Logan in for a hug first.

"Lucky!" They congratulated themselves with a fist bump as they leaned into the hug.

"Cause I could use a really great opening act in concert," Jordin said as she hugged James, and then had to give him a reminder to let go.

"And I hope you and Jo work things out." She said to Kendall before pulling him into a hug as well.

"Don't worry about it, everything's gonna be fine," Kendall said with total confidence even if he was worried inside. They had finished recording late last night, and Jo hadn't even responded to his usual goodnight or good morning texts.

"Huhem." Kendall heard someone loudly clear their throat and his heart dropped because he would know that voice anywhere, unfortunately even when she was mad at him.

Unbelievable. Kendall was starting to think maybe it was Jordin who was bad luck, and not just Big Time Rush.

They broke apart immediately, but Jo simply turned around and marched away past the pool.

"Here, take these," Jordin suggested and shoved a bouquet of flowers from Bitters' desk into his hands.

"Thanks." Then Kendall started running after her. "Jo! It's not what it looks like!" He yelled as he followed her, even though she was only speeding up even more until she was running away from him, even though he kept calling her name, and begging her to stop.

She took the stairwell and Kendall followed behind her until he was finally stopped by the door to her apartment slamming in his face.

"Jo? You know it's me." Kendall knocked and talked through the door. "Please, I know you're mad at me right now, but please just let me in and I can explain everything." Kendall waited a few minutes, but nothing happened.

He took a deep breath as he tried to think of something that could work, and well, he didn't know it if would or not, but he could at least try. He stepped as close to the door as he could and started singing softly but loud enough that Jo would hopefully hear it, putting all of his emotion into his song.

Baby you can put your trust in me

Just like you can count to three

You can count on me

And you're never gonna see

No numbers in my pocket

Anything I'm doin' I'll drop it for you

Cause you're the one I'm giving my heart to

Cause you're the only one

Don't hurt me, desert me

Don't give up on me

What would I wanna do that for

I really hope you understand

That I really want to take your hand

Then I will put mine over your heart

I promise to be careful from the start

You're trusting me with lovin' you very very carefully

Never been so vulnerable

Baby I'll make you comfortable

Now I'm about to give you my heart

So remember this one thing

I've never felt like this before

You gotta go easy on me

Kendall stopped singing and took a few deep breaths, but thankfully he heard the click of the door unlocking a moment later, he was face to face with Jo, and to his horror, she didn't look mad, instead, she had tears in her eyes.

"Jo…I please I can explain everything." Kendall said quietly.

"Come on in." Jo stepped back from the door and led him over to her couch. She sat down on one end, but Kendall chose to sit right next to her as much as he could without feeling like he was crowding her.

"OK Jo, I know you have lots of questions about me and Jordin, but I swear on all that I hold dear. There is nothing going on between me and Jordin. I can give you an explanation for everything you think you may have seen, but I promise the only thing I wanted to do was hang out with you yesterday. But also tell me what I can do to make this up to you."

"No Kendall, I…I… I'm not mad anymore, at you at least. Just in the heat of the moment, I hated seeing you looking like you were interested in another girl, and I'm sure every time you just helping her out with something right?"

"Yeah, first she tripped, then a cat flew in her hair, and then James and I accidently knocked her into the well, and then trying to help her out I fell in the well. And right now, it was just a goodbye hug. So I can promise from now on, I shouldn't be running into Jordin anytime soon."

"OK, I know I can believe you, but every time my stomach just got all twisted up in knots and…it was easier to act angry than what I was really feeling."

"And what is that Jo?" Kendall asked, he slowly reached out to grab hold of her hand, and thankfully she didn't try to pull away from him, but she turned her head to the ground instead.

"Just dumb ideas got into my head, just seeing you like that, like you may like someone else, someone who's already worlds better than me in every way," Jo said quietly, not looking up at Kendall as she did so.

"How is Jordin better than you?" Kendall asked, he was genuinely shocked at the statement.

"Because she's Jordin Sparks! She's already famous and on magazine covers, and is an amazing singer and she's even had a few acting roles, and I know I've only been here a few months but, I haven't made a name for myself yet… and I wasn't just jealous, I was scared I was going to lose you."

Kendall felt his own heart hurting now, did Jo not have any faith in him? "Jo, first off you're wrong. Jordin Sparks is not better than you in every way. 1. She isn't from North Carolina. 2. She doesn't like tricking building managers and playing pranks. 3. She doesn't know Judo. 4. And I could keep going on, but most importantly…she isn't Jo Taylor. I promise Jo you can count on me, just like I know I can count on you. I know we just started dating a few weeks ago, but I have no plans without you in them. Don't you agree?"

"Yeah, I do too Kendall, I know I'm being dumb, and probably a terrible girlfriend, I know I can trust you…but I've just never felt this way about anyone, and when I realized I felt jealous… and threatened I just didn't know how to handle it. And I really didn't want you to realize what I was really feeling."

"No Jo, your feelings aren't dumb. I will always like all your feelings, our feelings are what makes us, us. But promise me this, if I ever make you mad, just tell me, please don't avoid me."

"I promise Kendall, if something like this happens again, I won't run away." Jo finally looked up to meet his eyes once again.

"But seriously you tell me what I have to do for you to forgive me and I will. I'd do anything for you. I promise."

"I do forgive you Kendall, even though there's nothing for me to forgive, I was the one acting crazy. Can you forgive me?"

Kendall answered resolutely, "No you weren't acting crazy, you were acting human. And totally honest, if our roles were reversed and I saw you just in the wrong place at the wrong time with some famous guy, I know I would most likely act the exact same way. So as you said, I forgive you too, even though there's nothing for me to forgive."

"So, are we cool now?" Kendall asked, "but even though you did forgive me, these are for you." Kendall grabbed the bouquet he had set on the couch behind him.

"Awe. Thank you Kendall they're beautiful." Jo smiled as she took them and gave them a sniff, their scent helping her calm down.

"Not as beautiful as you." Kendall smiled back at her, happy just to see her smile once more.

"Ok, but I do have to ask, is that a new song?"

"Yes it is," Kendall said excitedly, "it's called Count On You, and you won't believe this…"
Kendall trailed off for a moment. "Um promise you won't get mad, or worried or anything?"

"I promise." Jo set the flowers down on the coffee table in front of her and scooted closer to Kendall, inviting him to put his arm over her shoulders while she rested her head against his shoulder.

"OK after you left the well, believe it or not, James, Logan, and Carlos all ended up down there too. So with nothing better to do, we helped Jordin figure out her song, and we found out it was supposed to be a duet. Eventually, Freight Train came and pulled us out, and Gustavo was going to kill us for well, knocking Jordin Sparks down a well, but after we caught a skunk Hawk sent him, he agreed not to kill us, and Jordin told him about the duet so we recorded it together."

"So you recorded with Jordin? And that's the only thing you did with her?" Jo asked, but this time her voice was teasing.

"Absolutely. I'm pretty sure it's going on her next album though, so you'll have to wait to hear the real deal."

"Well I thought it sounded beautiful with just you singing, I can't wait to hear you with Jordin and the rest of the guys."

"Oh yeah, it was great. But anyway, my offer still stands, anything you want me to do, I'll do it, just say the word."

Jo thought for a moment and then snuggled closer to him. "My dad is already at work for today, and I don't have any auditions, so how about we just stay right here without anyone else to bother us? Let's have a movie marathon today, with just you and me, no one else."

"I think that sounds amazing." Kendall squeezed her shoulders tighter and smiled in happiness. He was grateful beyond words that he finally knew everything was going to be ok again.
