Originals: Reunited (Dabekah)

Summary: Set some time after Originals S5 and VD S8. Twenty years after losing Elena, since he never took the cure, Damon comes to New Orleans, needing to find some place else to be, away from the memories and pain from losing Elena. That's when Rebekah finds him drowning his sorrows. What will ensue between them? Will they get together like we got a glimpse of in VD S3?

It was a dismal night, as Damon sat at the only bar in New Orleans, having his usual shot glass of Bourbon. It had been twenty years since Elena had died human, but it still felt as if it had been yesterday. Time had yet to help him heal, so he was here to try and get away from the pain and memories Mystic Falls had given him of Elena.

The youngest Mikaelson Original sister entered the bar, needing a drink after everything this century had given her, but stopped in her tracks for a few moments, seeing a quite familiar Salvatore. She'd had a one-night stand with him many years ago. It had been a year before her and her two siblings had come back to New Orleans. And a part of her still deeply cared about the elder Salvatore. The other half wanted to pretend that she hadn't seen him, but she decided to join him. After all, she knew that he wouldn't chance being around her siblings unless he needed a second place to call home.

Once she arrived at the bar, she sat next to him.

"Now, what's brought the famous Damon Salvatore to my backyard?" she asked.

He looked at her.

"I'm not sure you'd understand."

"Try me," she encouraged him.

"Tell me, Rebekah. Out of 1,000 years of love, did you ever find that one person you knew was truly right for you?" he wanted to know.

"I thought I did once, but he turned out to become a worst monster than Klaus himself," she answered, remembering when Marcel had almost succeeded in wiping out her family.

"Well, it's been twenty years, but time has yet to heal," he replied.

When he spoke about it being twenty years without healing, she realized that he'd lost Elena. She'd never liked her, but she'd never wish anyone, let alone Damon, lose their love. Klaus had done it to her too many times for her to count.

"I'm sorry you lost her, but I'm sure she'd want you to move on," she sympathized. She really did want to make him feel better.

"And how do I do that? It took about 150 years to get over Katherine. I can only take so much," he replied.

After she'd downed her own drink that she'd ordered, she looked at him again.

"Come on. Let's get out of here. I know exactly what you need."

She got to her feet, as he downed what little of his drink was left, and then he got up and followed her out of the bar.

Once they were in an alley, away from prying eyes, they began to make out, giving one another a distraction that they both needed.

The next day, despite Klaus not being thrilled about it, Damon moved into the compound with her. Then they spent all day keeping each other company in her room.

That night, having heard about a party being thrown in the witches' honor like they did once every year, they went to the party, though they arrived when it was half way through.

Rebekah and Damon were a little ways away from the food table, when the lights began flickering, before completely turning off. Then it was panic inside, which led to them getting separated. And that was all that was needed.

As Damon went through the crowd in search of Rebekah, he was unaware that the blonde was being taken by a vampire and hybrid. The female was secretly Lucien's sister, Dana Castle. The hybrid was William Pierce. Dana wanted revenge for what happened to her brother, while William wanted revenge because of what had happened to Katherine. Because of that, Dana and William took Rebekah to get back at them both. Dana also took her to get back at Klaus for killing Lucien.

When Damon found Rebekah, he saw her being taken by two people, which he sensed were a hybrid and a vampire. And it looked like she'd been vervained. He only recognized the hybrid, though. Even with vamp speed though, he knew he couldn't save her from them, as he saw them disappear out of the back exit.

An hour later, he arrived back at the compound to get some assistance from Klaus and Elijah with saving Rebekah. After all, no one messed with their family except each other. The Mikaelsons were a lot like the Salvatores, though Damon was the only Salvatore left now.

The elder Salvatore entered the parlor, which was where he conveniently found the Original hybrid.

"We have a problem," he informed the king of New Orleans.

Klaus had been finishing a shot glass of Bourbon, when he'd said that, which made him get up and set it on the nearby end table. Since he hadn't heard his little sister, he assumed the worst.

"What happened?" he demanded as nicely as he could. He never got along with the impulsive vampire, but he'd never let that get in the way of saving Rebekah. He'd looked out for her for a thousand years. He wasn't going to stop now.

"We went to a party and something happened. We got separated during the chaos and a vampire and hybrid took her. I couldn't get there in time to stop them."

Klaus gave an angry growl, but it wasn't directed towards the vampire before him. It was directed towards those that had been bold enough to take his most precious sister. He loved all of his siblings, but Rebekah and Elijah were his favorite. Just like always, there was going to be hell to pay, once he found those responsible. He was smarter now, though. He wasn't going to go in without a plan.

The one-thousand-year-old hybrid looked at the vampire.

"Do you know either of them?" he needed to know.

"I only recognize the hybrid. His name is William. I didn't know about him until ten years after I lost Elena. I think he wants revenge on me for what happened to Katherine. I don't know who the female vampire is, though," he informed Klaus.

"Now, why would this William care about what happened to dear Katerina? What did he share with you?"

"Because he's her brother."

"Well, this certainly makes things a lot more interesting. Now, doesn't it?" Klaus commented with a smile. Then, when the Original asked him to describe the vampire, Damon did so. That's when Klaus got curious as to why a vampire he didn't know would come after his younger sister.

Rebekah woke up in what looked to be an abandoned warehouse, tied to a chair, and feeling weak from being injected with vervain. She saw that she was the only one captured, so she hoped that Damon was okay and was getting help. She didn't know the vampire, so she didn't know what the vampire wanted. She knew it couldn't be good. She also wondered why the hybrid had gone. Hopefully, he hadn't gone after anyone she cared about.

She looked at the vampiress.

"What do you want?" she questioned.

Dana approached.

"Don't worry. This has nothing to do with you. It has everything to do with Klaus. Klaus killed my brother, Lucien. A little revenge is in order."

When Dana informed her about Lucien, she was shocked at Lucien having had a sister that none of them had known about. But then again, several centuries ago, the castle that Lucien had been forced to live at had been big enough to keep secrets. Plus, back then, they'd all paid more attention to Aurora and Lucien than they had of anything else while staying at the castle. That was, before they'd had to flee due to their father having gotten close to where they were.

"You know, I enjoy revenge as much as everyone else, but this is kind of petty. He's already dead. And it's your own brother's fault. He tried to kill Klaus and went after some of us, as well. He was a family friend once, but things change. I'm sorry, but Lucien deserved what he got for what he did and tried to do," she replied to her. To her, this kind of revenge wasn't worth it. Like she'd said, Lucien was already dead, so revenge meant nothing. Especially, when she knew that it would only end with Dana getting killed, too. Rebekah cared, sure, but anyone that went after her or her family deserved what they got.

It didn't take long for Klaus to find out where Rebekah was, and he easily killed the vampire, while Damon got Rebekah out of there. They knew that they still had to deal with the hybrid, though. And Damon knew that the hybrid was going to be much more harder to get rid of. After all, the hybrid having known Katherine meant that he most likely knew Katherine's old tactics when she'd been a vampire. Even if he didn't take after those tactics, he'd still be hard to get rid of, considering he wasn't just a vampire.

A few days later, Damon was attacked in an alley by the hybrid, but Rebekah showed up and was able to kill him, saving Damon.

A month later, he and Rebekah officially became a couple. Klaus didn't care even, so they had nothing to worry about with him. Because of that, Rebekah and Damon got a happy ending with one another, both living in the compound, rather than moving somewhere else.
