Rayleigh never expected to have a pupil again.
Not after Shanks and Buggy.
After Roger's death.
So many things changed after his friend's death.
Rayleigh changed.
He stayed hidden and tried to live a quiet life. Maybe he met some old friends occasionally but mostly spent his last days away from the marine's eyes in the world's darker corners.
And even though Shanks told him how extraordinary this boy was that he met back in the East Blue, Rayleigh never thought he would end up teaching him.
