Alright, I'm back from a little bit of a break, and by that I mean I updated something else, but now I'm back. During that break, while I was uploading some chapters to one of my other long-running fics, I fully fleshed out what I want to do with the RWBYverse, with a few exceptions namely having to do with the ending, and with certain character arcs. Plot-wise though, we're all done and dusted!
Also, while I didn't make it clear in the last two chapters, I have accepted another OC from someone else. I'm not gonna say the name of the OC, but I will say the name of who it belongs to!
Thank you to Fun_Is_Infinite for submitting their OC!
As I said before if you want your OC to show up in this world, DM me on Discord at DeathlyJazzHands #3106, or DM me on Fanfiction Dot Net, Wattpad, or Qoutev DMs. Keep in mind the rules I set a few chapters back, but in case you all don't remember, I'll restate them.
Rule 1: I will only accept 3 OCs per person throughout the length of this fanfic.
Rule 2: The OC in question cannot be too overpowered, by way of Level, Spells, or whatever (if they are a Gamer) if they aren't a gamer, then those two things don't apply to you. However, you must flesh out your character's abilities so that I know what they can do. But don't forget to make them balanced! I will only accept OCs if they are well thought out.
And finally, Rule 3: Make. Them. Interesting. Give them fleshed-out backstories, give them character flaws, traits, habits, etc. But also, make them flexible, make it so that I as the writer can use them creatively. If they're a Gamer, what God do they represent? Who is their Patron? What race did they choose to reincarnate into? A Gamer's a Gamer! Just make sure they follow the lore I've put into the story. If you're gonna make an OC for me to use in this story, make it so that it falls in line with the lore and the background.
I'm not gonna give you guys an outline, because that's tedious. Besides, be creative! That's what Fanfic is about! Community and Creativity! Keep in mind that this isn't required for me to write this story, as I have plenty of characters lined up to pad out this universe's world, but I would love to see what you all can come up with. And, speaking of you guys, let's get into some responses to reviews/comments!
[Response To Reviews/Comments!]
(Qoutev) TACO SENSEI: Well, he's still Masaru at the end of the day. Kid gonna bonk lol. Also, Chinatsu having bad luck while in Remnant is going to be a pattern. Do not worry, it gets worse.
(Guest) Reader 451: …no. Just… no. Actually, beyond no. You should regret everything, for I am rapidly approaching your location… Steven.
Kolt999: Ah, I see, good to know. I haven't watched that video by Jello, but now it is on my radar. Thank you, my good sir. And yes, that is an accurate representation of the mental state of our redheaded boyo with Sand powers… hey wait a minute.
A-hem, moving on. Ironwood can not and will not catch a single break in this portion of the fanfic. Like, not even a moment of peace will be given to that man. I haven't shown what the Fang are up to, nor have I shown off the lengths to which The Grimm are acting because, again, it hasn't benefited the plot at the moment. But yeah, what you've said is pretty much how it is.
I hope that RIP stands for rest in piss, lol. We here at Jazzhands headquarters hate The Branwen Tribe. This upcoming arc will show that in full force. And yes, it is an Avatar reference.
As for Jamol's kids, well, I'll let you see what I have planned for them as the story progresses. I can't say anything regarding them, but know this: because they have no idea the level of scummy that their father is, they regard him highly.
As always, have a great day Kolt!
Now with that out of the way, let's jump into the chapter!

[Natsumi]
Never let it be said that Natsumi was a fan of deserts. In fact, not only was she not a fan of deserts, she wasn't a fan of the sun constantly beating down on her with no restraint. What made things infinitely worse was that she was stuck in a two-piece suit which both acted as a way for her not to get sunburn—a plus side—but also trapped in sweat and in turn, made her feel like shit.
A part of her wondered if Daimen had chosen for her to be in a desert because of that, or if it had been a complete happenstance that they had gotten sent to where they did. Either way, the quicker that Natsumi got to change into something that didn't boil her alive in the hot rays of the sun, the better.
Unfortunatly, that wouldn't be happening for another 10 days… they had a long journey ahead of them, and as much as Natsumi wished she could just teleport away to somewhere colder, that wasn't going to happen.
But, on the Brightside, at least she wasn't doing this alone….
When she looked up at everyone else, who was a little further ahead than her, they were all trekking on without a care in the world. Everyone except the woman in the white cloak, who was walking next to her for some reason or another.
She glanced at the woman… or whatever it was… as it walked with her. There was some movement under the hood like it was looking at her, and then, out slipped a stitched-together hand with a water bottle. Natsumi took it without hesitation and chugged back the whole thing. She didn't care where it came from, only that the woman had given it to her. And for that, she was thankful. "Thank you… ma'am…" Natsumi breathed out, as the woman in the cloak nodded.
They continued their trek through the desert for another hour in silence. Natsumi continuously looked back and forth from Mahiru to the floor, then back to Mahiru. She felt really bad for what she did to her in the past—being a bully to her and all—and she wanted to apologize to her, but Mahiru hadn't given her a chance to.
Even when they had first woken up, Mahiru made it expressly clear that she wanted nothing to do with her, and that after they found civilization, she would leave the group and go find somewhere else to be because, and she quoted "I don't like being around terrorists who kill because they had a bad day". Which, to be fair to Mahiru, made total sense.
That was what they were to her. And there was most likely no changing that.
It was clear that Mahiru wasn't fond of being near any of them, considering what they did to their world not too long ago.
Honestly, Natsumi couldn't blame her. Unfortunately for her, she probably didn't have much of a choice. Besides, they were in a new world now, that had different laws and different customs, and while they could all speak the same language, theoretically, anyway, that didn't mean they had IDs for this world, money, or… anything, really.
In other words, even if Mahiru liked it or not, they had to stick together.
"You're…. Friends seem…. Mad with you…." The woman's harsh voice rumbled out from the cloak, making Natsumi jump. That had been the first time that the woman in the cloak spoke. And… her voice was strained. Really, really strained. And, it sounded echoey like many voices were speaking at once, but with one clear voice in the center of it all.
There was something different about this woman. And it felt… unnatural. The energy she gave off, was… different. Natsumi couldn't pinpoint what it was that made the woman in the cloak off-putting, but there was something about her that just… rubbed Natsumi the wrong way.
It was almost as if she wasn't talking to a "she", but a "they".
Jasper, for his part, stopped dead in his tracks after hearing the woman talk, before looking over to the woman. His expression was that of confusion, and… fear? No, maybe something else. Perhaps it was shock mixed with fear? Or… fear mixed with surprise? Either way, the look on his face was an emotion that Natsumi couldn't quite pinpoint.
Jasper marched over to the woman in the white cloak and stared at her with disbelief. They held gaze for two whole minutes, as the others from the group started to home in on him. Tears dripped down his cheeks, and then, that was when it hit her. Nostalgia. A glimmer of nostalgia was what was on his face.
But? Why? Was there a history between these two? Or, perhaps, it was relief? Relief that the woman could talk?
"Y-You're… still alive?! I-It's really you, this time! I-It worked… my words really reached you!" Jasper nearly shouted, his voice shaky as a smile broke out on the woman's face.
"It's me… Jasper… It's really me…. Thank you…." The woman said, her voice gravelly, and shaky. "And… no… I… Don't blame… you for what… happened to me. It's all… his fault…"
Jasper looked shaken at that. Honestly, Natsumi had no idea what was going on here, but she wasn't going to interrupt it. "B-but how? I-I… I'm the reason you… you—"
"There is… nothing that he… could do to me… to kill me…." The woman interrupted, before she paused, coughing whilst clearing her throat. "Not after… what he cursed me… with…." The woman continued. "Have to… follow… orders… but… otherwise… free to do whatever I… want…"
Jasper looked deep in thought, before nodding. He had steeled himself, wiping away the tears in his eyes, as he took slow, methodical breaths. After he had calmed himself, his expression was that of seriousness. "I see… well, we can't have himknowing about this. Uh… what about that chunk of rock in your stomach. Does it still function? Did the potion I mix in with the other halves' food break it?"
The woman in the cloak did not respond verbally, rather, she shook her head. "Damnit. That's not good… so you only have control for a short amount of time?"
"Yes…" The woman said as Jasper nodded.
"Alright then. then we should get moving. How much time do you reckon you have before you fold back into the collective of… you know?" Jasper asked as the woman frowned.
"No… idea…" The woman replied as Jasper snapped his fingers.
"Damnit!" Jasper spat. While those two talked, Natsumi looked over in the distance as… something was rushing over to them. No. not just something, but… many something's. Many black somethings. And they all looked like… scorpions? No, really fucking big black, boney-armoured scorpions. And… also… wolves? Bipedal wolves? Or, no, very outstretched… spikey black wolves. And… gorillas. Gorillas with skull faces… no, those actually looked like masks with white armour stuff on their arms and body….
"Just… what the fuck?! Seriously, what the fuck!"
"Uh, hey, guys, you wanna take a look at this!" Fumiko spoke out as the woman in the cloak and Jasper looked over to where the massive army of whatever the fuck those black creatures were, and the more they got closer, the more she could hear their screaming of rage, anger, and vitriol. They sounded hungry… or, just really fucking pissed. Either way, Natsumi was not prepared for a fight, and nor was she prepared to fight a whole ass army!
"Holy shit… an armada of Grimm…! Uh… Death Stalkers, Beowulves, and… Beringals… not the strangest combination I've seen, fuck.. uh… say, you wanna…." Jasper said to the woman in the cloak, who stepped forward. The woman outstretched her arm, getting everyone to get behind her.
"Might… as well… try this new stuff… out…" The woman croaked out as a stitched-together appendage began to sprout out from her body. There was a black matter-like substance that kept the dismembered limbs together, along with rudimentary stitching, and the more Natsumi stared at it, the more maddening it was. The arm was made out of other body parts, just like she saw from before, except there were so many of them that it was hard to make out what they were.
And what made things worse, or perhaps better, was that the woman seemed to have no trouble lugging that much weight around. Then, the massive limb was greeted with another that also sprouted out of her other arm. She jumped, causing a shockwave to nearly knock them all down, and then, she seemed to disappear into the crowd of Grimm, which was what Jasper called them… and then, the ground shook.
It was almost as if a bomb was let off in that area, as the shockwave that came from her landing was more than enough to cause a small earthquake. It almost knocked everyone off their feet again, Jasper and Natsumi having been the only ones who were able to stand, while the pair of idols fell on their arses, and for Mahiru to crash into Natsumi, who caught her before Mahiru got back up without so much as thanking her.
The army of Grimm, or whatever they were, turned their attention to the thing that landed amidst them, and… Natsumi and company watched as their numbers thinned in seconds. It was so far away that they couldn't see what was properly going on, only that the sea of black was being snuffed out by presumably the woman moving at fast speeds and killing them all.
Natsumi would say it was mesmerizing if she could see the details.
It didn't take long for the woman to come back, her arms back to normal, as she and her white cloak were covered in a black substance. She had walked the whole way back and by the time she got back, the sun was now in the middle of the sky. "Done." As she spoke, the woman in the cloak wobbled back and forth, almost like she was in a hypnotic state of being.
Jasper nodded with a smile on his face, his eyes looking as if they were shining with tears, before he closed his eyes, and bowed his head. "Thank you… Summer. Rest, get your strength back, and one day… I'll fix you, I promise."
The woman smiled weakly, before coughing up a puddle of black, inky darkness, mixed with a coppery-smelling red liquid as she collapsed in a heap on the floor, face first in the sand. Fumiko and Satomi surrounded her, worried expressions on their faces as Fumiko looked over to Jasper. "H-Hey! I-Is she gonna be okay?!" Fumiko asked as Jasper steeled his emotions, his eyes covered by shadow, as a sneer took over his expression.
There was a fury, a rage, an anger deep within his face that Natsumi knew all too well. It was the anger and resentment saved for someone whomst they hated and were desperately seeking to kill. Natsumi would know that feeling… she felt it before. But unlike herself, this hatred was beyond pettiness. It was personal. No, beyond personal. It was almost righteous.
Unlike how she felt when she went up against Jolyne in their… to call it a fight would be to call a curb-stomping a WWF style match up, though she digressed… this was building up for decades.
And whatever that hatred was being saved for, it wasn't directed at anyone here. It was directed at someone else. Someone else who Natsumi assumed either knew of this resentment or, didn't know. Whatever the case was, Natsumi knew that it was going to end in something horrible happening to Jasper, just as it happened to her.
"No…. my guess is that The Dog took back control. Leave it alone," Jasper replied, as he walked past it. Fumiko was about to retort, but Jasper continued. "We've got to get to Vale, then, from there, we can figure stuff out. For now… we have to go. It'll catch up." As Jasper said that, he walked forward. The way he talked… he sounded angry, and… annoyed. Whoever Summer was, it was clear that Jasper held her in high regard. The Dog, which Natsumi assumed was the identity of the pile of flesh inside the woman… he hated it.
Natsumi looked over to the woman, before shaking her head. Deciding that she didn't want to know what happens if she woke The Dog up from a nap, she walked forward with Jasper, with everyone else following soon after.
Everyone except Mahiru.
"We can't just leave her here! What if those creatures come back!" Mahiru exclaimed as Jasper sighed. "She'll die without help!"
The blond looked over to Mahiru, his expression neutral. "Not her. It. It's not a person. Summer is still in there, yes, but that's not her right now. It's a monster at the moment. I had no idea Summer was even still in there. That's probably how…." Jasper trailed off, biting his lower lip before turning away. "Look, it'll catch up, if we don't get to the next town when the sandstorm comes, then we'll be in for one hell of a night, and not the good kind. Let's go."
Without further discussion, Jasper continued walking, leaving a stunned Mahiru behind. Natsumi glanced over at her, crossing her arms, her new tail twitching as it swayed back and forth. "He's not wrong. I don't want to be caught up in a sandstorm, and seeing as he's travelled with her for longer than we ever will, chances are that he's right." As Natsumi said that, and as she glanced at Mahiru, she was greeted by a scowl.
"Of course, you'd agree with him…. Scum…" and then, the redhead marched away. Natsumi sighed, shaking her head. This was going to be an aggravating journey, wasn't it?
[Chinatsu]
It wasn't every day that one got to meet an elf, let alone two. And in the world of RWBY, well… they shouldn't even exist. Yet, here they were, sitting in a restaurant that served both humans and faunus—which should be all of them, by the way—eating pizza.
Honestly, Chinatsu hadn't had pizza in a long, long, long time. Japanese pizza wasn't even all that good, so to just have a regular cheese pizza without any of those strange toppings was refreshing.
That aside, a part of Chinatsu was honestly disappointed with Vale. She remembered it being far more accommodating for Faunus in the show. Like, a million times more accommodating. Every store she and her friends had gone into refused to serve the Faunus, i.e. Saichi and Nagisa. Every time that happened, they left.
It took them nearly an hour to find this pizza place, and it was almost on the other side of town. It quite frankly pissed Chinatsu off. Vale was supposed to be, outside of Menagerie and its sole Faunus population, a safe place for Faunus to congregate and mingle with humans, without the fear of being turned away because they happened to have animal traits.
So… what gives? What was the issue? Why was Vale so, for the lack of a better word, oppressive to the faunus?
Something fishy was going on, and Chinatsu wanted to get to the bottom of it. Well, as soon as she got back into contact with Jolyne, that was.
"So, what brings you two to Vale?" The female elf asked as Chinatsu looked over to the golden-eyed elf. She could ask the very same of her, but, Chinatsu digressed, sighing.
"We… found ourselves in Menagerie and then… well, we were imprisoned, then shipped back to Vale at the behest of chieftain Ghira Belladonna. The ferryman was an asshole, but we made it in one piece, so that's all that matters. What about you guys? Why are you here?" Chinatsu asked as the male elf took a bite from his pizza slice, and swallowed his food, before clearing his throat.
"Well, we're supposed to be attending Beacon! Or, well, at least their entrance exam. Which is brutal from what I've heard. I mean, it makes sense for hunter schools to have a pretty screwed-up entrance exam…." The male elf paused, glancing at herself, Saichi, and Sayaka, before smirking. "Say, why don't you guys come with us? We could use some more company after all," the male elf said as Chinatsu waved off the idea.
As much as she would've loved to go to Beacon Academy and fill out her power fantasy, she had other more important things to do. Also, there was the fact that she was an adult and not someone of senior-year high school age. So even if she wanted to, she would be most likely rejected on the terms of "being too old."
"I'm an adult, I doubt a school would let someone my age waltz up in there," Chinatsu replied as the two elves looked at her with raised eyebrows.
"You're… an adult? But, you look like you're a child. A-and even if you're not a child, I'm sure you could pass off as a 17-year-old or younger, right?" The female elf said as Chinatsu frowned, her expression deadpan.
"I'm 22 years old, for the record, please don't call me a child," Chinatsu said, her tone of voice filled with annoyance, as she pinched the bridge of her nose. "That, and I don't have an ID. I have money, but no ID. Kinda hard to get into a school without an ID, you know? That and transcripts. I haven't been to school, period, and I don't think that anyone, let alone the headmaster for Beacon, would make any exceptions, sans for maybe a few people." As Chinatsu said that, she took a bite out of a slice of pizza, and thought about that stupidly annoying, whiney, talentless Jaune Arc fellow from the show, before sighing. "Besides, I'm not all that interested in becoming a hunter. That means I have to abide by the rules when hunting criminals."
The female elf frowned. "B-but… umm…" the female elf pouted as the male elf sighed.
"Well, it was worth a shot," the male elf said before his eyes widened in realization. "Oh, by the way, the name's Titan, and my sister's name is Jupiter! A pleasure to meet you guys," Titan said, taking a bite out of his own slice of Pizza as Jupiter's frown disappeared, and was replaced by a smile. Chinatsu nodded, finishing her pizza slice.
"Name's Chinatsu, on my right is Saichi, over to my left is Sayaka, and the kid sitting under the table reading the menu because he's bored is Nagisa," Chinatsu said, pointing to each person as she said their name. Nagisa, who was a little bit offended, popped his head up from under the desk and frowned.
"That's cause we haven't been to a bookstore, and I need something to pass the time," Nagisa replied as Chinatsu frowned, before putting her hand in a pocket, accessing her inventory, and dragging out a manga, the manga in question being Volume 1 of One Piece.
"Read this, I've caught up to current chapter releases on my phone, pretty dope so far, I think you'd like it," Chinatsu said as Nagisa looked at the cover of the book, frowned, shrugged, then sat back down on the floor and opened it. The blue-haired woman turned back to face the two elves, who leaned in close to her, making the gamer flinch back. "Ayo, personal space, much?"
"You're like Sir Jasper and Dad, aren't you!" Jupiter asked as Chinatsu blinked. Like… their father and someone named Jasper? As in… they could pull things out of their pockets that had no reason to fit in such a small space… almost like… an… inventory….
"Wait a minute… what the… fuck… does that mean that… oh my fucking GOD are you KIDDING ME?! THERE ARE OTHERS HERE! I mean, to be fair, it makes sense. Gamers can appear anywhere, and considering Jolyne and myself met because of an accident…. You know what? At least I know that there are other Gamers here now… but, does that mean that there's a chance that… another Multiversal Gamer could be here? Oh god… son of a bitch… you know what? I'm not even going to think about that possibility…." Chinatsu thought, sighing as she glanced at the two elves. "Yes, I am. I came here with another one, too. But I don't know where they are…"
The elves looked at one another, then smirked, before Titan spoke up. "Well, we might. Our Dad was muttering about a place called Anima. Dad doesn't let us go out much, but we've seen maps of the world a few times. Anima is where Mistral is located, so your friend might be there!" Titan said, crossing his arms with a confident smirk on his face.
Chinatsu, on the other hand, felt a bead of sweat drip down the side of her face. Anima, aka where The Branwen Tribe was, aka where Haven Academy was. Aka where Cinder Fall and her goons were…. Why did Jolyne always have to get herself into shitty situations? Like, seriously, it was almost as if she was allergic to not not getting involved with the plots of the worlds she found herself in.
But, that aside, there was something else that was bugging Chinatsu, and it was more than just Jolyne being a magnet for trouble.
She was getting an uncomfortable sense of déjà vu when looking at these two. She had no idea why because she had been stuck in The Danganronpa Universe up until now, but for some reason, looking at the two elves in front of her, she was getting a dreaded sense of déjà vu.
Like… she knew them. But, that wasn't possible. They were entirely different beings, with entirely different lives. They weren't reincarnated souls of people she once knew. That wasn't how reincarnation worked. If you died, you were sent to Heaven, Hell, or reincarnated as a Gamer. And these people were elves through and through—or because they were in the RWBY Universe, Half-elves—so their being reincarnated souls didn't pan out. That, and they would've known about inventories if they were Gamers so that also discredited the idea of them being reincarnated souls.
Maybe it was their eyes? No, not their eyes, the female's eyes. Chinatsu didn't know what it was exactly about them, but the more she looked at Jupiter's eyes, the more a shiver started to travel down her spine. Like… she was being observed. Not by Jupiter, but by someone else. Someone… entirely different. Someone… malicious.
"Golden yellow eyes. The female elf has golden yellow eyes. When Lady Mary projected me the shadows of The Seven, all I could see were the eye colours. Green, Yellow, Blue, Red, Orange, Purple, and Rainbow… Green was Jolyne or the previous wielder of The Multiversal System of the Norse… but the identity of the others still illudes me. Not that I want to meet them, but…"
"Uh, Ouma-san, are you alright?" Saichi asked as Chinatsu shook her head, blinking a few times as she glanced over at the former idol. "You looked a little… spaced out, and, the elf girl was trying to talk to you," Saichi continued as the blue-haired woman looked back at Jupiter.
"I was asking why you were staring at me," Jupiter said as Chinatsu bit the inside of her lip.
"You're eyes… they… reminded me of something someone showed me a long time ago. It's nothing, don't worry about it," Chinatsu said as she stood up from the table, before placing a couple 5 dollar Lien coins—a tip for the waiter or waitress who grabbed it—on the table, and motioned for them to follow her out of the building. "Alright, well, now I gotta go to Anima… how long is a trip to Anima from here via Bullhead?" Chinatsu asked the two elves, who shrugged simultaneously.
"Took like… 2 hours from Vacuo to here, but that's the same continent… from here to Anima? Much less Mistral? You're looking at roughly a 5-hour flight, and that's without any Nevermore or brothers forbid Griffin Grimm getting in the way," Titan said, shoving his hands into his pockets as he relaxed his stance. "But, you should also know that, while Vale is one of the safer places for Faunus… Anima and Mistral… are the second most dangerous next to Atlas and Mantle."
That… wasn't true. Blatantly, that was not true. That couldn't be true. Lionheart, the traitorous cowardly fuck, was the Headmaster at Haven Academy, and he was a Faunus. If he was able to ascend to that level of power, then it couldn't be the case.
Unless… something changed? Come to think of it… she didn't remember Ghira being so jaded against the humans, and in their brief conversation, he seemed like he was mourning someone. Was Kali killed in this universe? Was Blake dead?! This was the Multiverse after all. This could be an entirely different timeline where Menagerie lost way more in this version of The War between themselves and Atlas.
Or worse… something worse could've happened.
"Excuse me," a voice spoke up, as Chinatsu and co. looked over to where it came from. And, it caused Chinatsu's panicked heart to stop, because her favourite character was alive.
Her long black hair went down to the center of her back and over her shoulders, and the same stupid ribbon that she used to hide her cat ears was placed atop her head, and her borderline serious amber eyes gleamed with a multitude of emotions.
She was wearing a black button-down vest with coattails, and a white sleeveless shirt underneath, with part of her midriff exposed. Beyond that, she was wearing a pair of white shorts, and a pair of stockings that started as black but slowly faded to a light purple. On her stockings were the symbol for belladonna flowers—fitting considering who it was. And, last but not least, to complete her look, she was wearing a pair of black low-heeled boots.
Blake Belladonna pointed at Chinatsu, with a serious expression on her face. "You. You destroyed that man's fruit Stand. Why?" Blake questioned as Chinatsu raised an eyebrow.
"Why wouldn't I? He was a racist asshole, and I don't take kindly to racists, ma'am," Chinatsu replied, looking over to Nagisa, before patting him on the head. "Besides, everyone should be able to purchase anything from anyone no matter their race. Right?"
Blake, for her part, lowered her hand and nodded. "Right… You're right… sorry for bothering you. I just wanted to know your motives. Have a good day," Blake said before she began to walk away. Nagisa, however, seemed annoyed. Chinatsu had no idea why, but the look on his face showed that he was troubled.
"What is it, Nagisa?" Chinatsu asked as Nagisa looked at her, confused.
"You didn't hear it, did you?" Nagisa replied, looking over at Blake's fading figure, his eyes narrowed. "There was malice in her voice… for some unexplainable reason, she hated you."
[Jolyne]
Ronin stared at her, gobsmacked, eyes wide and full of shock. "Y-You… killed them all? With… a single attack and… a Grimm?!" Ronin said as he glanced over at Tyrone, who was curled up in a ball, fast asleep in the corner of the inn. A few of the customers were terrified of him, which made sense, he was a big spikey wolf that could probably take up a full empty bedroom by himself alone. If someone weren't to have feared that dog, then she would have to question if they were all up there in the head.
"I mean, yeah? From what Jolyne just told us, they were just humans with basically no abilities at all whatsoever. I don't see how that's so shocking," Rantaro spoke up as he crossed his arms. "I'm pretty sure I can beat them. Maybe not as quickly, but I definitely could. Healing Magic can be used in some very nasty ways if you're creative," Rantaro said, as he summoned one of the runes, which made Ronin recoil. "Cancer is caused by cells mutating, and, well… I think we all know where this goes, right?"
"M-Magic… not, a Semblance? Magic is… real?" Ronin questioned as Rantaro looked at him with a raised eyebrow.
"I mean, why wouldn't it be? Of course, magic exists. Anyone can learn it if they have Mana," Rantaro replied as Monica's Hermit Purple wrapped around the salt shaker and snagged so that she could add some salt to her rice curry, meanwhile Jataro was drawing… something involving a poor woman being impaled on a wooden spike.
Ronin breathed out, closing his eyes as he clasped his hands together. "You guys… do you not understand what you're saying right now?" Ronin asked as everyone looked at him, Puzzled. "Magic has been said to be a myth for over 500 years. If what you're saying is true boy and that Magic is indeed real… then that changes everything."
Jolyne narrowed her eyes as she looked at the ground. Magic was a myth here? Then, how did that explain the Grimmoire, an item seemingly native to this universe? And, by that logic, shouldn't the Grimm not exist? Wouldn't Tyrone cease to exist if that were true? The Grimm were magic constructs, created and fuelled by life force and Mana—at least, Tyrone was, anyway.
The dual-haired Dragon… Witch looked over to Tyrone and frowned. "There's no way that Magic was a myth here… people cannot be that stupid to not know what Grimm reallyare, right?" Jolyne thought as she looked back at Ronin. "Then that doesn't explain the Grimm. If Magic was considered a myth to you guys, then you shouldn't know what The Grimm are."
Ronin raised an eyebrow. "Their Remnants natural response to Human and Faunus-kind. Everyone knows that why would it be any… different…" Ronin trailed off as his eyes widened. "Wait, don't tell me… are you suggesting that the Grimm aren't… aren't natural?!" Ronin asked, his tone filled with alarm as Jolyne nodded.
"How did you think I have Tyrone? That I tamed him from the wild? No, I created him using my life force and mana. Grimm are magical constructs. Meaning that whoever creates these things has a vast amount of life to spare, and, a metric assload of Mana," Jolyne explained as she crossed her arms. "At least, that's my guess, considering how I was able to create Tyrone using my life force and mana. Although, it could be possible that Tyrone is a special case, and that the other Grimm are indeed natural. Either way, my point still stands."
Ronin glanced over at Tyrone, before looking over to Jolyne. "You… created that Grimm? Can… other people create Grimm, too?" Ronin asked as Jolyne shook her head.
"Not naturally. I was only able to create Tyrone by using this," Jolyne began before pulling out The Grimmoire. "This was what allowed me to summon Tyrone. That was only because I had sacrificed some of my own Life Force to do so. It quickly came back to me, of course, but that's only because of what I am that allowed me to do that. For someone like you? You probably would permanently lose that Life Force. Not to mention, you'd also need Mana, which you don't have," Jolyne explained, before putting the Grimmorie back in her inventory.
"Speaking of that," Rantaro spoke up, narrowing his eyes at Jolyne. "You still owe me that explanation later about what you are," Rantaro said as he and Jolyne kept eye contact for a few seconds before Jolyne relented and nodded, Rantaro doing the same as he stood up. "Now, if you excuse me, I'm going to go explore the town and a little bit beyond. If you need me, I'll be around," Rantaro said, bowing to Ronin and thanking him for the meal, before leaving the inn.
"I'm gonna go with him, Monica's bored," Monica spoke up, before pushing away from the table, thanking Ronin for the food, and following Rantaro out of the inn. Jolyne watched them leave and sighed. At least that meant she could have some time alone and not have to worry about them. She trusted Rantaro to be able to defend himself, and Monica should the occasion come, providing of course it wasn't anyone major.
"You're people are very kind, Ms. Brooks…" Ronin said as Jolyne shrugged.
"Eh, they're just good people. I'm glad I met them, even if it was through… not so positive circumstances…" Jolyne replied as Ronin looked over to Jolyne and smiled.
"Ms. Brooks. I… Thank you, for defending our settlement. Even if it was in an unorthodox way. Not only that but… you opened my eyes to something. How can I repay you?" Ronin asked as Jolyne frowned.
"You don't have to do anything," Jolyne replied as Ronin crossed his arms.
"No, I am going to do something. You saved this village from a fate worse than a Grimm Invasion. The least I can do is repay you. Name anything, and I'll do my damnedest to make it so it happens," Ronin stated, his tone of voice not allowing for any room for argument.
"Well, if you insist…" Jolyne droned. "Then I want two extra pillows for my bed, and, I want to be able to walk in here and sleep without paying a single dime. Food I'll still pay for, as you're still running a business, and, I'll help with whatever you need me to in exchange for a free bedroom."
Ronin nodded. "Consider it done," the boar, or pig—honestly, Jolyne still didn't know and wasn't bothered enough to ask—faunus said in a matter-of-fact tone of voice, as Jolyne got up from the table.
"If that's the case, then please excuse me. If you need me, I'll be in my room," Jolyne stated, before leaving Ronin with Jataro, who was still drawing away. Jataro looked over at her, waved, then went back to drawing. Jolyne shot a glance to the sleeping Tyrone, who didn't so much as move an inch when she started walking up the stairs.
Good.
Once she got to her room, Jolyne sat down on her bed, and pulled up her inventory, before grabbing the Legendary Gacha Token. The token in question was given to her after she killed Izuru. She had been waiting to use it once she got some time to herself. There was also the thing to do with The Legendary Stand Disc and the ten other Stand Discs that she could use for The Stand Gacha.
She'd use that later. Right now, she had this Gacha Token to use. Closing her eyes, she began to snap the token, and a bright golden light shone from the snapping token. She inhaled sharply, and when she exhaled, the token snapped completely, revealing a…!
Strange looking fig. The fig was pitch black, with a dual-headed stem that appeared to have the shape of a snake head. It also had strange spirals that echoed a bright white decorating the fruit. Jolyne blinked, looking at it, before the notification came up.
[Congratulations! You've obtained the Hebi Hebi no Mi: Model – Black Mamba!]
[Legendary – Hebi Hebi no Mi: Model – Black Mamba: Congratulations! You've obtained a Hebi Hebi no Mi: Model -Black Mamba! This is a Zoan Type Devil Fruit that gives the user the ability to transform into either a half human half Black Mamba hybrid, or, a Black Mamba relative to the size of the person in question. It also gives the user the abilities of a Black Mamba, like extremely powerful poison, skin shedding, and other snake-related abilities! WARNING: YOU HAVE ALREADY EATEN A DEVIL FRUIT! CONSUMING THIS WILL KILL YOU! HOWEVER, YOU CAN GIVE ANYONE YOU PLEASE A DEVIL FRUIT!]
Jolyne stared at the fruit and frowned. So, she couldn't eat it, but she could give it to someone else? For a split second, she considered giving it to Sayaka, but then she remembered that Rantaro, for as useful as he was due to his healing powers, had no offensive abilities at all whatsoever.
She doubted that she'd be the only one getting into combat in the future, so giving Rantaro something to fight with would be more useful than just giving it to Sayaka, who at least has an instant death attack, and most likely some form of self-defence training—she was an idol after all, and everyone knew that idols were secretly badasses.
Storing the new Devil fruit she got in her inventory, she pulled out the Legendary Stand Disc next, as the Gacha menu for it appeared right before her eyes.
[Stand Gacha! Featuring: JOJO Villains!]
[Chances of obtaining a Stand owned by one of the 8 original main villains is higher than any other! A whopping 30% Increase! (0.001% to 0.031%)! Don't waste it!]
[Legendary Draw! X1] - - - - - [Draw 1] - - - - - [Draw 10!]
Jolyne didn't waste any time and pressed the Legendary Draw option as the record scratch from the last time she had done this rippled throughout her mind once again. The banner collapsed and opened like a door—just like last time—before a handheld jukebox appeared in front of her and it asked to be tapped—yet again, just like last time—and so, she did. When she did, music began to play similarly to last time….
Vocal Percussion on a whole 'nother level, coming through my mind!
Vocal percussion on a whole 'nother level, coming from my mind…!
Let's GO!
Just like the first time, when she had drawn the Legendary Stand Soft & Wet, which she had yet to give to someone, but would in the future if someone needed their Stand replaced or upgraded to fit a dire situation. Or, if she met someone who she would add to the team… she was getting sidetracked. The Disc appeared in front of her with a yellow hue, before the same violent clash of energy hit the DISC, causing it to crack, and then reform into a Golden Stand DISC. And then, the DISC fell into the darkness, as a voice spoke to her.
[My Stand is called Vitamin C… it makes you severely soft…!]
[Legendary – Vitamin C]
[A Stand that looks like a jester from the top half, but from the bottom down, looks like a giant tsunami of hands! If these hands touch you, you become severely soft, to the point where even the folds of money can cut you like scalpels!]
Jolyne looked at the new Stand Disc in her possession and put it back into her inventory. Once again, she'd save it for someone who she thought could properly wield it, and be useful to her and her alone. That kind of power… was deadly in the hands of an enemy. And she needed to have less of those. Especially if she was going to live a successful life in this world.
Her dragon's tail flopped to the right, as she hummed. There were a few things that she wanted to do before—
She was interrupted by a notification, and the smell of smoke entering her nose, along with screams and cries for help. She was immediately brought to attention, as she stared down the sudden notification with a narrowed eye.
[Welcome to the world of Remnant – Part 3!]
[Quest: Save Monica! Again! Oh, and Rantaro too, while you're at it, I guess. Oh and stop the Bandits, again, while you're at it!]
[Actions have consequences, and some of those consequences are dire! You pissed ? off, really badly. And now, you're going to pay for it! ? has kidnapped both Monica and Rantaro, as they had left the Settlement of Styx! You have 72 Hours before they are executed! What Joy! Oh, and the Bandits from before? Yeah, guess what? They weren't only coming from the south, they were coming from the north, too! You got jabaited! HA!]
[Rewards: 75,000 EXP, 1,000 Lien, Monica's Survival, Rantaro's Survival, Plus 15 reputation with Rantaro, plus 75 reputation with Monica]
Just before Jolyne could even collect her thoughts, Ronin burst through her door as the smell of smoke filled her lungs. "Jolyne! The Bandits! They just… they just appeared at the rear of the settlement! I-I don't know what the hell—"
Jolyne stood up, anger in her eyes as she looked over to her window. Fire bellowed from buildings, as people with weapons slashed at anyone they could. Crops were being burned off in the distance, and livestock was being killed. She hadn't explored the settlement much, but she didn't have to to know that the damage to the settlement would be damn near irreversible if she didn't do something now.
A knot built up in her stomach. Whoever this mysterious person was… they were going to get a very rude awakening very soon. She wasn't about to allow them to get away with this. She was going to kill them. Or, at the very least, she was going to maim them irreversibly.
No one… No one hurt her friends. No one hurt her teammates…. And no one hurt her kids.
"It seems that someone in your group of four was a liar, either that or the Bandits thought ahead…" Jolyne growled, her tail smacking the floor as her hands clenched into fists. "Not only were their Bandits coming from the south… they were also coming from the north… and they were closer than those to the south…. Styx was going to be raided no matter what…"
Jolyne's teeth ground against each other, as she spun around to face Ronin. "But they made a mistake… I have a mental link with those I came with… and they're in danger. And if there is one thing you don't do…. It's hurt, my people!" And with her singular eye flaring a bright green, Jolyne ran past Ronin, and jumped down over the inside balcony as Bandits broke into the building holding weapons, there were four of them, out of most likely thousands, and with so many innocents in the way, she couldn't cast a spell like Bellowing Thunder or Finger Laser, which left her with only a few options.
"Get—"
Before the first Bandit could speak, Whitesnake slashed his hand across the bandit's head, stealing their Memory Disc, before then punching through their chest and kicking their corpse into another person. The second Bandit couldn't react fast enough before they had their face brutally burned off by the magmatic hand of Jolyne, and the last two Bandits were instantly downed by a flex of her Despair Aura, turning them into mouth-foaming bodies, to which she slashed their necks with her scythe, collecting their souls, bringing her soul count back to a total of 80. It was nothing like 150, but it was better than nothing.
Although, she noted that one of them had a shattering effect around them when she flexed her Despair Aura. She had to assume that that was what an "Aura" was, the one that CHECK referred to when she used CHECK on Qrow Branwen.
Jolyne looked around the room, trying to look for Jataro, who was down here moments ago, only to find him hiding underneath a table. She pointed for him to go up the stairs, to which he did so without so much as saying a word. When he was gone, Jolyne looked over to the massive Beowulf she had summoned to see if he was okay.
And, well….
Tyrone was currently thrashing the corpse of another bandit that had broken into the inn near him, blood coating his jaws, before he looked over to Jolyne, and pranced over to her with a dopey dog-like grin on his face. One of the souls was still in her hand as he approached, and when he did, something strange happened. His nose touched the soul on accident, and then… it went in him. Like, it quite literally floated into his body as his eyes flared red for a split second before a meter appeared above him.
[Tyrone Evolution – 1/50]
Jolyne blinked at that little uptick above his head, as the Beowulf panted like an excited dog. "Evolution, huh? Well then… I'll look into that later. Right now, I have to save Monica and Rantaro first." "Tyrone… Kill anyone like the ones you just saw… do not hold back."
The Beowulf howled and charged the streets as Jolyne stood in the doorway, as several more Bandits gathered in front of her. Behind them were fire, blood, corpses, and chaos. All of these people… all of these innocent people were dying. And it was because of these bastards.
She might've been a bad person, who was willing to end the world over being treated badly by some people around her… but at least what she did gave the people of the last world she lived in a chance to survive.
This… was different.
This was an outright massacre, with no thought given to the people around them. Just like what she did to the Kuzuryu Clan, but much, much worse. "You tricked us by splitting up…. I'll give you one thing, and that was that that was smart…. But, as you'll soon learn…." Jolyne's right arm transformed into pure Magma, as the bandits got ready to fight, getting into stances befitting of amateur soldiers.
"Nothing you did would save your pathetic lives."
