After the sorting, the headmaster started the feast but not without some warning first, he warns that anyone who does not wish to die a painful death ought to stay away from the third floor. there are other warning but the painful death was the only one Shirou take notice.
A painful 'death' warning right off the bat? In a school full of children? As expected of the magical world of another dimension it was full of danger, better be careful later on.
And then sumptuous meal started, the headmaster summon the feast out of thin air by saying some silly words, this worried Shirou as he is not sure what the food is made of.
Thankfully it wasn't long before he realized it was safe to eat, at least it was edible, Shirou thought.
After the feast the student were guided by the prefect to ther house rooms, the gryffindor prefect introduced himself as Percy Weasley, lead them all away in rows.
As they arrive on their house, the Gryffindors were hidden inside the fat woman painting, the first years were quickly instructed to their rooms to rest and prepared for tomorrow. Their luggage was strangely already arrive first.
Before they go to sleep however, Shirou and his other roommate take this chance to introduce themselves to each other before sleeping.
Neville Longbottom, is a round-faced, short, chubby, with a blond hair. He had a pet toad named Trevor, he seemed timid, shy, and a bit insecure, but Shirou had a feeling he is going to be a reliable person in the future.
Ronald Weasley, he have a blue eyes, a long nose, and is tall and lanky, with big hands and feet. He also have a fiery red hair and a freckled complexion which is a trademark of his family or so he claims. The kid is friendly and nice although a little blunt, he brought a pet rat named scabber, who unlike Neville toad, Trevor, seems giving off an unnatural scent.
A magical pet perhaps?
Next is, Seamus Finnigan, is a sandy haired kid from Irish, he is a bit clumsy and a curious boy, as he is shooting question after question towards everyone.
Dean Thomas, is a dark-skinned dark-haired tall boy, the tallest of their group and appeared to be of African descent, he seemed to be a patient one, answering Seamus question with ease. He looks like a good kid.
And finally the elephant in the room.
Harry potter.
The boy is thin and a little on the short side, there's a lightning shaped scar on his forehead that he try to hide, he seems to be a little shy or uncomfortable being the source of attention with young Seamus keep hounding him with question.
Truthfully speaking Shirou knew the boy, not personally of course but through hearsay and rumor, Tom didn't stop bragging about meeting the Boy-Who-Lived to him while he lived on the pub.
Personally speaking though, Shirou feel nothing but pity for the boy, he was worship for being a sole survival of a tragedy which take the life of his parents leaving him orphaned by the age of one.
Somehow Shirou feel related to him, being a survivor of a tragedy himself, he know how hard it was the guilt of knowing yourself as the only one to survive a disaster, though with Harry being a baby when he experienced it he might not need to know the pain of survivor guilt, hopefully.
Eventually young Seamus is finally out of question, and being a child he eventually ran out of energy. Seeing that everyone seems to be tired, Shirou suggested that they're go to sleep.
Before Shirou go to sleep however, he tried to cast a Leviosa spell once more, the pillow he point at finally show some movement, seeing this he smiled, feeling satisfied, he finally goes to sleep.
Shirou awake at dawn, it was his habit to get up early. As he prepared to work out before breakfast, he remember that his body is that of a child meaning he can't do a heavy exercise yet.
On another note, today is also the first day of class. Shirou sighed at that, despite being mentally late 20s somehow he return to school looking like a brat.
Joy.
So after a light workout, a shower, and a light breakfast, Shirou finally start his first class.
The Potions class, taught by professor Severus Snape in the dungeon.
In this class the student is expected to learn, the Potion recipe, their ingredients, how to find them, their usage, and how NOT to use them. Basically students are taught the correct way to brewpotions. Or as the professor put it, to learn the subtle science and exact art of potion-making.
On another note it looks the professor have some intense dislike towards Harry, though from the way he talk it might be he just dislike kids in general, those people do exist especially the magi in his world.
Though he had to admit despite the professor attitude, he is good at what he do. Clear explanation, to the point presentation, easy to understand teaching, mastery of the teaching material. Not even the teacher in clock tower could deliver knowledge like professor Snape, considering he is teaching children that's making it even more impressive.
And then came the practical part of the lesson, the actual potion brewing.
His first potion, The Cure for Boils.
It was an elementary potion and the recipe could be found in any potions books.
As Shirou finished brewing his potion, the professor come in to check the result. when professor Snape taste his potion, he then looked at him right in the eye.
"Mr. Emiya..." The professor started.
"Tell me, have you ever brew a potion before?" Professor Snape asked Shirou, in which he merely scratch his cheek.
"Uh, no..." Shirou answered not sure, when the professor looked at him strangely he quickly added.
"But I know how to cook, does that help?" Shirou asked. Professor Snape looked back at the potion he made before replying.
"Evidently." The professor said icily, before walking away. Until an explosion steal his attention away.
Somehow Neville managed to melt Seamus's cauldron, as he added the porcupine quills before taking the potion off the fire, which caused the classroom to be filled with acrid green smoke and the failed potion to seep over the floor, burning holes in people's shoes.
"Idiot boy! I suppose you added the porcupine quills before taking the cauldron off the fire?"
Shirou sighed, as he walked to help Neville and check if he had any serious injuries. He had a feeling this is going to be a usual occurrence in this class.
At the end of the class, Shirou had mixed impression about the potion class.
After break they were off to their second class today.
The Defense Against Dark Arts, taught by Professor Quirinus Quirrell, held on class 104.
And as far as Shirou concern the bane of his life.
Why? Well...
After opening the door of the classroom he was assaulted by a familiar yet disgusting stench, it was a stench of a rotting corpse and a fresh blood. A stench Shirou is overly familiar with a certain creature, as he often hunt down said creature.
The Dead Apostle.
And the stench was coming from the professor in front of him.
Fuck.
So much for learning, damn his E-Rank luck.
Quirrel is a mess of a teacher.
He is stuttering or sometime stumbling while teaches his subject.
Unfortunately for Quirrel, as he explaining about a dark creature to the class, Shirou who decided to sit in the back didn't bother to listening to him, as he secretly glared at Quirrel wondering the best way to exterminate the dead aspotle in front of him without, one, known to anyone, and two, without harming anyone in the castle, or worse getting expelled from Hogwarts.
Luckily for Quirrel, rationality didn't leave Shirou yet. After all he believe there is no way the school will hire someone who is a danger to the student body, with this in mind Shirou panic addle mind started to calm down. Of course he is still wary of this 'Quirrel' if that is even the man's real name, what he needed is justification and opportunity to dealt with him, but for now Shirou will stay his hand.
A single suspicious action, and Shirou vow to exterminate the dead apostle right here and then.
When the class ended, Shirou was the first to get out of the class. Wishing to be as far as possible from the 'professor' as soon as possible.
After lunch break, there was a free period for the first years student.
For first years student most of them uses this time to finish their homework, while other to check the extracurricular course provided to them, Shirou though opted to go in to the library for some basic research.
On his way to library he come across Mr. Filch the caretaker of Hogwarts and his cat Mrs. Norris wandering around the schoolcorridors. Shirou was going to ignore him in favor of going to the library, when he suddenly thought of something before turning back as he goes running after Mr. Filch.
"Mr. Filch! Wait! I have something to asked!" Shirou called to him, while the man looked back scowling.
After the free period, come dinner time.
After dinner there is still time before they were off to sleep, Shirou and his roommates uses this time to finish their homework.
He had to help the children with their homework, as they struggled with potion most particularly Neville and Ronald.
By their account, it seems professor Snape is too intimidating for them to focus on his teaching.
Ahh yes, the classic example of bad attitude brought down the students result.
After helping them with homework, reviewing the studying material, it was finally time to sleep.
And just like the night before Shirou practiced some spell before sleeping, this time the book he point at is finally floating in the air, smiling, Shirou finally goes to sleep.
