The Phantomhive Girl
Chapter 6: A Talented Butler
Upon their return in London's society, Celine immediately got to work in helping her brother be the Earl of Phantomhive with Sebastian's aid.
In addition, she and her brother helped Sebastian learn to cook, bake, clean as well as learn the duties as the head butler of the Phantomhive family.
In return, Ciel and Sebastian helped Celine learn how to act as the Lady of Phantomhive and her key roles. Including, how to control her big appetite and crave for something sweet.
At the end, their hard work officially paid off.
Elizabeth was overjoyed of her fiancé's return, but then she realised that she had overgrown him. From that point onward, the Lady of Midford sought to be a wife capable of protecting Ciel.
As for Celine, the young bluenette continued training on her fencing skills as well as improve her reputation such as being a socialite and detective in her own right. But also impress herself as Edward's future wife.
Celine raised her cup of tea and slowly took a sip, enjoying its fragrant, spiced, astringent and a strong flavour.
It was Masala chai that was originated from India.
The Lady of Phantomhive wore a turquoise blue velvet dress with long sleeves and had little white buttons on it as well as a frilly part at the end on the skirt. She had white tights on with matching turquoise high heeled shoes with small bows on them. Her bluish black hair was styled with two curly locks falling by the cheeks, bookending neat bangs. The rest of her hair was pulled back behind the head where it falls loosely, with some spilling out in front of her shoulders. There was a small turquoise bow on her head.
After placing down her teacup, Celine then continued eating her breakfast meal which was consisted bread streaks with tomatoes and mushrooms accompanied by a few Swiss eggs.
It was a quiet morning.
Nothing out of the blue.
Except, her brother and their butler was outside the manor solving a case for Queen Victoria. This wasn't a surprise to her.
The Phantomhive earldom was in charge of a strictly confidential agency which had been under the direct control of Queen Victoria for generations.
The Phantomhive agency covered up any number of criminal acts carried out by the Royal Family and eliminates all who may seek to harm the Royal Family as well as every thread linking to the Royal Family's involvement, no matter how dirty the method.
As the Lady of Phantomhive, Celine knew her role would also be to help Queen Victoria like her brother does.
Her thoughts then went on Sebastian's.
Despite her friends admiring Sebastian for his good looks and quirky nature, she couldn't help but feel that there was something off about him.
Something…sinister.
It was strange though.
After finishing her breakfast, Celine went to the library of the manor to read a book called 'Black Beauty' by Anna Sewell.
It was a story about a handsome well-born and well-bred horse of the era that was initially owned by kind masters, but was sold to successively crueller owners.
Eventually, he collapsed from overwork and ill treatment, though in the end he was sold to another kind owner and recovered.
It was weird to be back in Phantomhive Manor after everything that happened.
Every part of the Manor looked the same not just its front or back.
There are still times that the bluenette was plagued by night terrors every night of those horrible days being imprisoned by that dreadful cult. She wouldn't scream or cry that would draw attention, but the kind that once she woke up from she could not allow herself to go back to sleep.
BOOM!
A slight frown appeared on Celine's face as she lowered down her book to make her way to the kitchen.
When she arrived the Lady of Phantomhive arrived to her destination she found the servants; Baldroy, Mey-Rin and Finnian covered in smoke and their hair bushy.
"That was a close shave."Baldroy chuckled. "We were close on starting a bloody great fire."
"You did start a fire!"Mey-Rin scowled.
Celine cleared her throat causing Baldroy, Mey-Rin and Finnian to get startled and notice her.
"Hey, Mistress Celine."Finnian responded.
"Would you three kindly tell me what were you doing?"Celine questioned.
"Well, I got the idea of wanting to cook the Master and your upcoming meal more quicker, but I've added way too much oil which I made it go up in flames."Baldroy exclaimed with a nervous smile.
"I did tell Bard it was bad idea, but he wouldn't listen."Mey-Rin responded.
"So, we decided to help him out though it didn't do much good."Finnian commented.
Baldroy, Mey-Rin and Finnian became nervous when they notice angry aura waves going around Celine while her eyes flashed dangerously, making them panic and bow to the ground in shame.
"We're so sorry, Mistress Celine!"Baldroy, Mey-Rin and Finnian apologised in shame.
Celine let out a sigh.
"That's alright."Celine assured with a small frown. "I won't tell Master Ciel or Sebastian about it. For now just clean up and don't try doing anything like that again."
Celine then began walking out of the kitchen.
"Yes, young mistress!"Baldroy, Mey-Rin and Finnian thanked gratefully. "And thank you!"
Once she was away from the kitchen, Celine let out an irritated sigh.
After Sebastian became a professional butler and Ciel was given the title of 'Queen's Watchdog' like their father, her brother hired Baldroy, Mey-Rin and Finnian to become their servants of their manor.
All three of them didn't have any actual skills to be servants and they easily ruined things. But there was another reason only she, Ciel and Sebastian knew the three servants were good at which they don't discuss with anyone or outside the Manor.
"If those clowns ever end up doing this in front of any guests that come to the manor, I'm going to lose my temper."Celine thought in a bitter tone.
A sound of horses belonging to a carriage arriving at the front of the Phantomhive manor caused Celine to go over to the window to see who it was.
It was Ciel and Sebastian.
Celine made her way to the entrance to greet her brother and their butler.
"Hello, Ciel and Sebastian."Celine greeted brightly. "Welcome back. How was the case?"
"Not so challenging, Celine."Ciel said bluntly. "The drug dealers didn't provide that much of a risk."
"That is because you can't lose with me by your side, master."Sebastian informed with a smirk.
Ciel sent Sebastian a glare as Celine brought her attention onto him.
"Oh, Ciel. That reminds me."Celine remarked. "While you were away, the horses for our stables have arrived. I'll show you to them."
Ciel and Sebastian followed Celine to the stables of the manor to see two horses there.
One was black as night and the other was pure white like a delicate pearl.
The horses had been a late birthday present, bought from a travelling horse-coper.
"Since we are going to learn to hunt, I was told these horses are the best for the job."Celine exclaimed.
Ciel looked at the two horses, studying their elegant yet strong appearances.
"Then let's test them out."Ciel suggested.
BANG! BANG! BANG!
Both Ciel and Celine wore their riding attire as they hunted in their family's woods with Sebastian following in tow.
Three partridges landed on the ground as the Phantomhive siblings lowered their rifles.
"Looks like only one of us gunned down two partridges, big brother."Celine sneered.
"Surely I did since you're too scared to shoot a duck."Ciel complemented with a smirk.
"Hah!"Celine chuckled. "I can hunt more better than you! Race you!"
Celine rode off, making Ciel do the same.
"Ride as fast you can, Celine!"Ciel insisted. "But in the end, I'll beat you!"
Ciel and Celine rode off deeper into their family's woods as Sebastian looked on with an amused smirk on his face.
In a Different Day…
Celine was accompanying Rosemary in the busy London streets.
Rosemary was moving the pram that had her infant sister, Sylvia, laying down inside it.
Sylvia Von Montgelas was a three months old baby girl with dark peach coloured hair and hazel eyes. She wore a frilly pink outfit with a white bonnet on her head. She had a pacifier on her mouth.
"You and Ciel are so lucky to have such an amazing butler like Sebastian, Cellie."Rosemary giggled and blushed shyly. "His so handsome for an older man. I hope I get to court him one day."
Rosemary sighed at the mere thought of spending a romantic evening with the Phantomhive butler while Celine stared awkwardly at her.
"Yeah...I don't see that happening."Celine replied with a nervous smile. "I mean, what are the chances of that happening?"
Rosemary then pouted her cheeks.
"Oh, come on, Cellie."Rosemary scoffed. "Try not to kill my fantasies."
Then Tineke came out from a nearby dress shop to greet Celine and Rosemary.
Tineke Behrens was an eleven year old girl with long caramel blonde coloured hair that was styled in a straight style with a maroon headband on her head and deep cyan eyes. She wore a maroon dress with puffy sleeves held in multiple places with beige lace, a beige collar with a big bow in the middle and a silver belt, as well as white tights, maroon shoes. Around her neck was a necklace that had the Star of David gemstone on it.
"Celine. Rosemary."Tineke remarked as she walked up to her two friends. "Wait for me."
"Hey, Tineke."Celine greeted.
Tineke notice Sylvia on the pram and smiled.
"Is this her?"Tineke asked. "She's adorable."
"Her name is Sylvia. She is named after my father's great-aunt."Rosemary explained. "I'm still getting used to having a sister. She keeps me busy all the time."
Sylvia started whimpering causing Rosemary to pick her from the pram and put her in her arms.
"You mustn't spoil her, Rosemary."Celine commented. "No one likes to spoil a child."
Celine and Rosemary looked at Tineke as Sylvia quietly gurgled in her sister's arms.
"Tineke, do you have any plans for the summer?"Rosemary asked.
"I'm going to Vienna with my mother and step-father to visit a couple of my family members."Tineke answered. "We'll be celebrating 'The Three Weeks' together."
"The Three Weeks?"Celine said. "What's that?"
"It is actually a period of mourning commemorating the destruction of the first and second Jewish Temples."Tineke exclaimed. "But the Three Weeks is also a time for feeling the brokenness that characterises every heart and every life."
"So in a way that holiday is like a time for remembrance?"Rosemary suggested.
"You can say that."Tineke responded with a nod. "Though my parents aren't very religious like my relatives though."
Sylvia cooed as she suddenly started pulling Rosemary's cheek.
"Ow!"Rosemary groaned and glared at Sylvia. "Sylvia, quit pulling my cheek! I'm not a doll!"
Celine choked her laughter while Tineke covered her mouth to lightly giggle.
Half an hour later, Celine returned back to Phantomhive Manor.
Ciel and Celine sat down together watching Sebastian having a fight with a guest that happened to be a Master of Kenpo.
However, Sebastian defeated him.
The guest laid down on the ground defeated as he coughed out a bit of blood from his mouth.
"This technique is my school's last secret!"the guest scowled, glaring at Sebastian. "Who the hell are you?!"
"I'm the Phantomhive family butler."Sebastian replied as he removed the dust on his gloves. "What good would I be if I couldn't use a technique of this level."
Sebastian turned around to give Ciel and Celine a smile.
"In other words, young master and mistress, I've won."Sebastian remarked. "Please review what you learned today and prepare for tomorrow as promised."
Ciel scowled in annoyance since he expected to see Sebastian defeated while Celine lightly clapped at Sebastian's victory.
"That was impressive, Sebastian."Celine complemented.
Baldroy, Mey-Rin and Finnian were astonished by Sebastian winning his match against the Master of Kenpo.
"That was great, Sebastian."Finnian declared.
"That makes it 50 wins in a row."Mey-Rin admitted.
"Our butler is amazing."Baldroy chuckled.
Ciel let out a sigh.
"A Master of Kenpo came all the way here."Ciel said. "I thought today I would see you beaten."
Sebastian smiled. "That's unfortunate."
Celine held out a glass of lemonade.
"Here, Sebastian. Drink this."Celine insisted. "You must be dehydrated from all that fighting."
Sebastian took the glass of lemonade from Celine and drank it while the bluenette shared a smug smile with her brother.
After he finished drinking the glass of lemonade, Sebastian brought his attention on the three servants.
"By the way what are you lot doing here?"Sebastian asked.
Baldroy, Mey-Rin and Finnian became nervous at Sebastian's tone of voice.
"Have you finished weeding the courtyard, Finny?"Sebastian said.
"Ah..."Finnian started.
"Mey-Rin, have you washed all the beddings?"Sebastian asked.
"Umm..."Mey-Rin said nervously.
"Baldroy, shouldn't you be preparing for tonight's dinner?"Sebastian questioned.
Baldroy nervously laughed as he looked away.
"If you've got time to be loafing around here, then do your work!"Sebastian ordered.
Sebastian scolded the three servants with an intimidating glare that sent them off and scampered out of the area.
Celine quietly giggled at the sight.
"Speaking of work, Sebastian, there was a phone call from Chlaus in Italy."Ciel admitted.
"Lord Chlaus?"Sebastian asked.
"Oh. That's right."Celine responded. "We wanted to talk to you about that."
"Let's head to my study."Ciel instructed.
In Ciel's Study…
Ciel went to his study with Celine and Sebastian.
"So Lord Chlaus is coming to prison in person?"Sebastian asked.
"Yes. He contacted me and Celine to say that he found the goods."Ciel exclaimed. "It seems that he went to quite a lot of trouble this time."
"He'll arrive at 6am."Celine declared. "So this means the negotiations will take place here. But you know what that means by now, Sebastian."
Sebastian smiled and put his hand over his heart.
"I understand."Sebastian answered. "I'll make sure Lord Chlaus receives the best hospitality."
Then an uncomfortable expression appeared on Sebastian.
"By the way, my lord and lady, what was in that lemonade?"Sebastian questioned.
"It's Tanaka special blend with salt."Ciel answered. "I stopped drinking it after taking one sip."
"He must've mistook for sugar since both salt and sugar are white."Celine sneered.
Sebastian's eye twitched in irritation before calming down.
"I have preparations to do, so I'll excuse myself."Sebastian replied.
Ciel focused back on his morning newspaper while Celine nodded slightly while focusing back on reading the book she held.
In the Kitchen…
Sebastian was working on the preparations for Lord Chlaus.
"The silver is polished to a spotless shine. The tablecloth is crisp, clean and wrinkle-free. There is not a single bruised blossom among the master's favourite white roses."Sebastian declared proudly. "And finally, the highest quality ingredients have been gathered to prepare a first-rate dinner. The table is perfection. This will be an elegant Phantomhive welcome."
Sebastian finished the flower arrangements of roses, carnations and tulips on a glimmering silver vase.
Just as Sebastian was about to start preparing the meat for the main dish, the bell sounded from the study.
"Still so much to do and the master calls me now."Sebastian responded with a frown as he dusted off his gloved hands. "Perhaps the mistress is craving for a dessert again."
Sebastian slipped on his coat and left the kitchen to attend to the two siblings as the three servants watched him walk away.
"A guest is coming. All right, then this is our chance. Sebastian looks down on us all the time."Baldroy commented. "Today we will be so perfect he won't even know what 'it 'im. "Ah!". Yeah, that's what he is gonna say."
"Ah!"Mey-Rin and Finnian said in unison.
"That's for him to say, not you."Baldroy reminded.
"Oh. That's a good idea."Mey-Rin remarked with a smile.
"Right, we have to stop relying on Sebastian for everything."Finnian commented.
"It's settled then, we got a plan of attack!"Baldroy declared confidently.
Baldroy, Finnian and Mey-Rin brought their fists up high.
"Let's get to it!"Baldroy, Finnian and Mey-Rin answered in unison.
In Ciel's Study...
"I'm a bit hungry."Ciel stated from his chair behind his desk as Sebastian stood a few feet away from him. "I'd like something sweet to eat."
Celia stood near the window, her eyes turned to the butler from the book in her hands.
"Me too, Sebastian."Celia added. "A few raspberry macarons for me, please?"
"You shouldn't eat now, Master and Mistress."Sebastian reminded. "You don't want to spoil your appetite for dinner with your guest this evening."
Hearing that, Celia's happy face melted into disappointment, but understood nonetheless and quietly returned to her book while her twin brother still persuaded for something sweet to eat.
"I don't care about that."Ciel declared. "Make me a parfait."
"I'm sorry, sir."Sebastian apologised, still refusing the order.
This caused Ciel to click his tongue while Celine slightly frowned in disproval.
A While Later…
Sebastian had a closed eye grin, masking an urge to run a rampage after seeing the dried up garden as if a forest fire occurred; the collapsed cupboards with shattered china and the torched ingredients for the main dish in the kitchen.
"Now, how exactly did this happen?"Sebastian demanded with a fake smile.
"I thought things would go faster if I used extra strength weed-killer on the garden."Finnian explained.
"I was trying to reach the tea set we use for guests, but I tripped and the cabinet fell!"Mey-Rin admitted.
"There was a lot of meat to be cooked for dinner, and it was gonna take a long time, so uh, I used me flamethrower."Baldroy declared.
The three servants slowly shrank under Sebastian's menacing stare.
Baldroy simply looked away and scratched the back of his head while Mey-Rin and Finnian apologised through tears.
"Oh! We're so sorry!"Mey-Rin and Finnian sobbed in shame. "We didn't mean to!"
Sebastian drowned out all commotion the servants were making, concerned about the ruined preparations for the arrival of the guest.
"Our guest will arrive just after 6."Sebastian thought as he pulled out his pocket watch to see how much time they had left for improvising. "At most we have two hours left. Not enough time to replace the tea set or find premium meats. What should I do?"
The butler brought his attention back on the panicking servants.
"Calm down, all of you. Perhaps you should try taking a page out of Tanaka's book, and start behaving like…"Sebastian started and then got an idea when he notice Tanaka's drinking cup. "Everyone. Listen closely and do exactly as I say, understand? We must be quick about this."
Sebastian walked towards Tanaka and lifted the cup from his hands.
"We might save this night yet."Sebastian admitted.
Baldroy, Mey-Rin and Finnian then started helping Sebastian prepare for Lord Chlaus' visit.
Sebastian started cutting a couple of meat before Baldroy carefully brushed them with soy sauce and mirin (rice wine).
"Hey, Sebastian."Baldroy spoke up. "Is this really okay?"
"Yes."Sebastian said with a nod.
"Sebastian!"Mey-Rin called out. "Found 'em!"
Mey-Rin ran forward, carrying a stack of wooden boxes until she tripped on her own feet, causing the boxes to fly out of her hands.
Before any of the containers touched the floor, Sebastian skillfully balanced one on his foot, caught some in a stack on his hand and Mey-Rin on the other.
"Oh, honestly."Sebastian sighed as Mey-Rin's face turned bright red. "How many times have I told you not to run inside the manor, Mey-Rin?"
Mey-Rin quickly backed away, realising how close she was to Sebastian.
"I'm so sorry, sir!"Mey-Rin apologised. "My glasses cracked and I can't see a thing!"
Sebastian lifted his foot balancing a box and stacked it among the pile he was balancing on his hand.
Then Finnian came forward holding a bag that contained flower seeds.
"Sebastian."Finnian remarked. "I bought the things you needed from the flower shop."
Sebastian simply smirked.
"I see. Well done, everyone. These are the last items we needed for dinner."Sebastian announced. "And now I believe you can leave the rest of it to me and relax for a bit. But I need you to do well, very well, during dinner tonight."
Sebastian then walked away, leaving the three servants by themselves.
Baldroy looked at Finnian.
"He said it twice."Baldroy said.
"Ooh."Finnian commented. "That's serious."
Later that Night…
A car drove by to the main entrance to the Phantomhive Estate.
Then the driver came out, revealing himself to be Chlaus.
"Well, England seems so far away."Chlaus complemented. "It's been a while since I've been here."
Ciel and Celine sat together in the stairs, looking at a book together before they notice Chlaus walking forward.
"Ciao, Zio Chlaus."Celine greeted kindly.
"Chlaus, you came."Ciel responded.
Chlaus hugged Ciel and Celine.
"Good evening, Ciel and Celine."Chlaus greeted happily. "How are you both? Are the two of you well?"
"Yes, Zio Chlaus."Celine answered.
"Though we haven't grown that much."Ciel said bluntly.
"I'm glad neither of you haven't changed."Chlaus remarked.
Celine smiled. "You haven't changed either."
Ciel, Celine and Chlaus headed upstairs as Sebastian opened the door to the lobby.
"Welcome, Lord Chlaus."Sebastian declared.
Sebastian, Finnian, Baldroy, Tanaka and Mey-Rin all bowed at the Phantomhive siblings and their guest.
Chlaus was surprised to see the entrance of the manor completely the same as the one before.
"This manor looks beautiful."Chalus commented. "Exactly as the one before."
Ciel didn't say anything while a sad smile appeared on Celine's face for a moment.
Sebastian walked over to Chlaus as Finnian took his hat and coat.
"Sorry to keep you waiting, Lord Chlaus."Sebastian apologised.
"Long time no see, Sebastian."Chalus responded and notice the three servants. "It seems like there are some new faces here too."
Sebastian led Chlaus to the courtyard with Ciel and Celine following from behind.
"You have something to talk about with the master and mistress."Sebastian assumed. "I'll make the preparations for dinner right away. Please go through the courtyard."
"The courtyard?"Chlaus said in confusion.
"I have been told by my master and mistress to prepare the hospitality which rewards your efforts this time."Sebastian explained. "I'll be happy if it meets your expectations."
Sebastian then opened the door to the courtyard, revealing itself to be styled in a traditional Japanese garden.
"Please make yourself at home."Sebastian insisted.
"Excellent!"Chlaus praised. "A traditional Japanese rock garden!"
Sebastian walks ahead of the three aristocrats a couple of steps while gesturing to a table not far.
"The tea has been prepared."Sebastian declared. "Pease, come this way."
Celine walked with Chlaus and Ciel to follow Sebastian to the table.
Sebastian helps Chlaus sit down.
"Wilted trees with flowers."Chlaus commented. "This is called 'Wabi-sabi', isn't it?"
Ciel and Celine sat down together as Sebastian began to pour green tea in their cups.
"Ah, green tea."Chlaus remarked. "You're a perfectionist too."
"I'm honoured by your kind words."Sebastian answered with a closed eye smile.
"The way things are going I'm looking forward to the dinner."Chlaus admitted.
"By the way, Chlaus."Ciel responded. "About the goods…"
"As promised, I've bought them."Chlaus declared.
Chlaus brought out a new board game for Ciel and a historical novel called 'I Promessi Sposi' by Alessandro Manzoni for Celine.
"Here is the game you wanted, Ciel. It hasn't been released in Italy. It was quite difficult to get."Chlaus explained. "And the historical novel I got for you, Celine, happens to be called the most famous and widely read novel in the Italian language."
Celine looked at the historical novel in amazement before hugging it in delight.
"Thank you, Zio Chlaus."Celine thanked gratefully. "I love it already."
"Thank you for your efforts."Ciel declared. "There's no need to put emphasis on how hard you worked."
"About that."Chlaus chuckled. "A prince would 'reward' his subjects for their effort, wouldn't he?"
"If there was a game worthy of reward."Ciel sighed. "The game that I finished recently, didn't have any interesting end."
"Hmm, it seems that there isn't any game that's right for you."Chlaus remarked. "At any rate, you'll ask for the next game right away, won't you?"
"That's right."Ciel answered with a dark smirk. "I have an insatiable desire for games."
Celine quietly took a sip of her green tea.
Ciel had changed so much since the day they lost their parents and…Astre.
The dreadful cult that kept them prisoners and abused them, left both of them with scars that won't never heal and have to carry them for the rest of their lives.
But that didn't stop neither of them from their roles as members of the Phantomhive name.
"It's because of that, despite your youth, Phantomhive has matured into the country's number one toymaker."Chalus admitted with an unfazed look. "You'll make a name for yourself when you're older."
"Sorry to interrupt your conversation."
Sebastian informed the dinner in front of the Phantomhive siblings and Chlaus as they wondered about the simple presentation of beef on top of rice in a bowl.
"The preparations for the evening meal are complete."Sebastian stated. "Today's menu is the head family's chef, Baldroy's, Beef Donburi."
"This is dinner?"Chlaus said in confusion. "Is this Kyoto Haute Cuisine or something?"
"Did you know, Lord Chlaus?"Sebastian insisted. "This is a traditional Japanese delicacy, a dish offered as a sign of gratitude to someone who has accomplished important work. That is the dish called 'donburi'!"
Celine stifled a giggle behind her hand after seeing the dazed expression that Chlaus had while listening to Sebastian's rather intense explanation.
"It is said that the dish 'Houhan' was only eaten in the royal court."Sebastian continued. "However, commoners also wanted to try it and this was the origin of Donburi. Furthermore, I thought you would be tired of sophisticated food. To allow you to simply savour the high quality meat, I have prepared it in this style."
Finnian's eyes glittered with admiration as he, Baldroy, Mey-Rin and Tanaka hid behind the entrance to the courtyard.
"Now that's our Sebastian for you!"Finnian whispered.
"He saved the day."Baldroy remarked with a thumbs up.
"Ho ho ho."Tanaka chuckled.
"It is my turn next."Mey-Rin murmured nervously.
Then Chlaus let out a hearty laugh.
"Ha! Ha! Ha! Ciel! Celine! This is great! You always surprise me!"Chlaus laughed. "There are a lot of people in this industry who lack humour. You two are not among them, so it seems things will be interesting for now on."
Both Ciel and Celine smiled at Chlaus's sentence.
"It's an honour."Ciel remarked.
"That's very kind of you to say that, Zio Chlaus."Celine responded.
Chlaus looked at Sebastian.
"I didn't think Donburi was such a meaningful dish."Chlaus remarked. "You really are knowledgeable."
"Thank you very much."Sebastian answered.
"It's just like you said."Chlaus commented as he tucks a napkin into his collared shirt with a smile. "I was getting tired of Italy's rich foods. Let's eat."
Chlaus, Ciel and Celine then started eating their Japanese themed dinner with their chopsticks.
"The vintage we are pouring tonight was specially selected to compliment the flavor of soy sauce."Sebastian admitted and looked at Mey-Rin. "Mey-Rin. Now, Mey-Rin."
"Yes, sir!"Mey-Rin said nervously.
"Why are you just standing there?"Sebastian whispered in the maid's ear. "Pour the man a glass of wine."
"Of course, yes, sir!"Mey-Rin answered quickly.
Baldroy frowned at Mey-Rin's sudden behaviour.
"Hey..."Baldroy said.
"What?"Finnian asked.
"Is it just me or is Mey-Rin acting a little strange?"Baldroy questioned.
"Sebastian is watching me."Mey-Rin thought as she nervously held the bottle of wine with her shaking hands. "I can't take it. Don't look at me that way!"
Heat rushed up to Mey-Rin's face causing her to spill wine on the table while Chlaus was busy enjoying eating his meal.
"Mey-Rin, stop it!"Finnian panicked. "Can't you see you're spilling the wine?"
Ciel and Celine stopped eating when they notice the wine was spilling towards Chalus.
However, Sebastian pulled off the tablecloth without messing with any of the arrangements in a blink of an eye.
Chlaus stopped eating when he notice the tablecloth was gone.
"Oh?"Chlaus said in surprise as he placed his bowl down. "Where did the tablecloth-a go?"
"A speck of dirt, most unsightly."Ciel explained with a smirk. "I had the cloth removed so it wouldn't distract us. Think nothing of it."
"Please accept my apologies, Lord Chlaus."Sebastian apologised. "Do continue enjoying the meal at your leisure."
Chalus smiled at Ciel and Celine.
"Your butler is very talented, Ciel and Celine."Chlaus praised.
"Heh. Talented?"Ciel said with a smirk. "He's just doing his job as one of our subordinates."
Celine simply smiled as she ate the last fish piece from her bowl.
"You're strict, aren't you?"Chlaus assumed. "But even if you looked all over England, you wouldn't find such talent."
"What Ciel means that we didn't hire Sebastian for being talented, Zio Chlaus."Celine replied. "There's another reason."
"And what's that, Celine?"Chlaus questioned.
"We haven't eaten desserts that are delicious as his."Ciel admitted.
"Eh?"Chlaus said in confusion.
"You can't have a good butler who is not able to make amazing sweets."Celine remarked.
Chlaus laughed at Celine's sentence.
"Ha! Ha! Ha!"Chlaus laughed in amusement. "That is the most important thing for a child."
Chlaus, Ciel and Celine then ate the dessert that Sebastian prepared for them for the day's evening.
A delicious apricot and matcha mille feuille for each of the three aristocrats to satisfy their sweet tooth.
Hope you guys enjoyed this chapter:)
