The Phantomhive Girl
Chapter 7: A Visit From the Midford Siblings
The London streets were bustling as always with the citizens going on with their daily lives.
"Get your paper here! All the latest new!"the Paper Boy shouted. "Prostitute mysteriously murdered!"
A bell chimed as Ciel walked in wearing a dark teal blue cloak, hat and black gloves with Celine next to him and Sebastian following them from behind.
Celine wore a white and pale blue long-sleeved dress with a pair of white thigh-length stockings and pale blue Mary Jane shoes. Her stylish coat was dark teal blue like her brother's and wore a pale blue hairband on her head.
"Mm? Oh, hello children."the shopkeeper greeted. "Did your father send you for something?"
Ciel remained calm while a hurtful look appeared Celine's face at the mention of the word 'father'.
"Actually, they're here on their own business."Sebastian responded with a smile. "We need to pick this up."
Sebastian handed the shopkeeper the order for the cane.
"Oh, you're the one for that walking stick."the shopkeeper said before turning to his drawers and opened one to take out a black cane with a silver handle. "I was wondering who'd have a use for one as short as this."
The shopkeeper handed the cane to Sebastian.
"Naturally, I didn't think a chil-"the shopkeeper started.
Sebastian suddenly pointed the end of the cane right at the shopkeeper's face.
"Straight as an arrow."Sebastian admitted with a smirk. "A magnificent stick indeed, sir."
The old shopkeeper looked completely shocked.
Sebastian placed a bag of money on the counter as he handed the cane to Ciel.
"Keep the change."Sebastian insisted. "Good day."
When the Phantomhive siblings and their butler, left the shopkeeper fainted.
Ciel and Celine began heading back to their carriage with Sebastian.
"That ridiculous strength of Finny's is a menace."Ciel scoffed. "How could someone accidentally break a walking stick? It's a pain to special-order a new one."
"Come on, Ciel."Celine chuckled. "The poor guy apologised in tears for what he did."
"Indeed, my deepest apologises."Sebastian agreed with a smile. "What a pity to go through all that trouble. You haven't even had a growth spurt in years."
Ciel, Celine and Sebastian passed a toy store where a boy was looking at the toys inside with his mother.
"Look, mama!"the boy said excitedly."It's a brand new rabbit toy from Funtom see!"
Celine smiled a little at the young boy before noticing a group of girls around her age talking with each other.
The Lady of Phantomhive looked down and notice the girls were wearing stylish high heeled shoes causing her to become a sad a bit.
"I really need to start wearing high heeled shoes."Celine thought as she followed her older brother and their butler. "I'm growing up."
Ciel and Celine arrived in front of their carriage as Sebastian opened the door for them.
"Now, young master and mistress."Sebastian said. "Let us return to the mansion quickly."
In the Phantomhive Manor…
Finnian was in the garden and currently crying near a tree that was completely broken in half.
"I did it again."Finnian whimpered. "He was really mad when I broke the cane yesterday! Sebastian's gonna be angry again."
The young gardener soon broke into more tears.
"And I promised to watch 'Rowdy Count VIII' with the young master and mistress!"Finnian cried. "If he gets mad I can't watch…?"
Suddenly, Finnian heard a sound from behind him.
There was hope filled in his eyes as he turned towards the sound.
"Cou…Could it be?"Finnian asked happily. "The Rowdy Cou-"
However, Finnian never got to finish his sentence as he was suddenly grabbed by someone.
Then his screams were heard throughout the Phantomhive Manor.
Afterwards...
Sebastian pulled the carriage up to the front of the manor and let Celine out after Ciel.
"I'm sure you are tired, master and mistress."Sebastian said. "I'll prepare tea for you immediately."
The butler lead the Phantomhive siblings up the front steps and opened the door.
Just before Ciel and Celine stepped inside, the two siblings stopped and stared at the front lobby with shocked looks.
"What's the matter?"Sebastian asked with a confused look and became shocked when he glanced at the front lobby. "Ughhh!"
The front lobby from the top of the stairs was decorated with white and pink streamers, hearts, ribbons, rabbits and flowers.
"Our mansion!"Ciel gasped.
"It's horrible!"Celine panicked.
"What happened to this place?"Sebastian questioned. "Why it's a disaster."
"Sebastian!"
All of a sudden, the three servants rushed to Sebastian, Baldroy and Finnian dressed as a baby and rabbit respectively and tackled him.
"What is going on here?"Sebastian demanded. "And why on earth are you all dressed like lunatics?"
"Ask the crazy girl!"Baldroy hissed in fright. "The crazy girl!"
Baldroy pointed toward another room.
"The crazy girl?"Ciel said in confusion.
Celine frowned. "Let's check it out."
Ciel and Celine headed with Sebastian toward the door.
The trio carefully peeked inside to see Tanaka smiling with a blonde wig on his head.
A young blonde girl was talking to him which caused Ciel and Celine to become shocked since they both know who it was.
It was Elizabeth.
Eizabeth was a thirteen year old girl with emerald green eyes and waist long golden blonde hair worn in two big drills. She was wearing a frilly orange dress
"These ribbons are good too! But these satin roses are the cutest!"Elizabeth remarked in delight. "But like I thought you wearing that is totally adorable! You look like Antoinette!"
Elizabeth then squealed in joy when she caught of Ciel and gave him a bone crushing hug as Celine quickly took a few steps back.
"Ciel, you're back!"Elizabeth remarked happily. "I missed you so much!"
"Elizabeth, what a surprise!"Ciel answered in awe.
"Oh, how many times do I have to tell you, call me Lizzy!"Elizabeth exclaimed enthusiastically to the now dishevelled boy before proceeding to hug him again. "Oh, you really are the just the cutest thing ever aren't you darling boy, I could just eat you up!"
"Hey Ciel! Don't try getting so close to my sister!"A boy's voice snapped. "I still have yet to consider you as my brother-in-law!"
Edward then came forward, surprising Celine.
Edward was a young man with short blonde hair and emerald green eyes. He wore an expensive sophisticated suit and brown shoes.
"Oh, Edward."Celine responded. "You're here too?"
"Celine."Edward answered.
Celine soon walked towards Edward until she was at reasonable distance and curtsied.
"It is a pleasure to see you again, Edward."Celine greeted while curtsying.
"T-There I-isn't any need to be so formal, Celine."Edward said with a slight smile. "Please call me, Eddie."
Celine then decided to come to Ciel's aid when he notice suffocating from Elizabeth's hug.
"Hey, Lizzy."Celine greeted with a small wave.
"Cece!"Elizabeth squealed in delight as she let go of Ciel and engulfed Celina into a bone-crushing hug as well. "How can I forget my favourite girl cousin!"
"Interesting to say, I am the only girl cousin you have."Celine muttered as she struggled to breath. "Unfortunately."
Edward then brought out a bouquet of peonies.
"I-I wanted to give these to you. I thought you would like them."Edward admitted while looking away.
Celine smiled widely and took the bouquet from her
"Thank you, Eddie."Celine thanked gratefully. "They're beautiful."
"Once my brother heard that he could go and see you, he went straight to the flower shop and made sure to get one of your favourite flowers."Elizabeth teased kindly.
This made Edward's blush and deny such the statement.
"It was like that, Lizzy."Edward scowled.
Celine just simply smiled while blushing a bit.
"I hope you won't get so close to my sister as well, Edward."Ciel informed with a slight frown. "Remember I haven't accepted you either."
Sebastian walked over to Elizabeth and Edward.
"Lady Elizabeth, Lord Edward."Sebastian greeted with a bow. "It has been a while since I last laid eyes on you both."
Elizabeth released Celine to curtsy towards Sebastian with a bright smile while the bluenette regained her breath from being hugged tightly like her brother.
"Oh Sebastian, it's so good to see you."Elizabeth greeted cheerfully. "I have a souvenir for you too."
"Eh?"Sebastian said in confusion.
"Here!"Elizabeth declared.
Elizabeth placed a girlish pink headdress on Sebastian's head causing Ciel and Celia to stare blankly at the flashy bright accessory that was placed on their butler.
"You're always dressed in black, I thought this would be a nice change."Elizabeth admitted. "What do you think?"
The three servants, including Ciel and Edward, turned their backs to hold back their laughter while Celine sweat dropped at Elizabeth's choice of accessories for men.
Judging by Sebastian's glare towards the servants, he was not pleased even a bit, but he knew to insult a gift from a lady would be rude.
"I am deeply honoured that you went to so much trouble for a humble servant."Sebastian replied with a bow. "Your generosity overwhelms me."
"Happy to help."Elizabeth responded with a bright smile.
"In any event, Lizzy, what are you and Edward doing here?"Ciel questioned.
"Since mother and father allowed Edward to visit Celine, I also asked if I can come along with him."Eizabeth exclaimed kindly. "They said it was fine as long as we were both safe."
Elizabeth once again enveloped Ciel and Celine in a tight hug while Edward slightly sigh at the sigh.
Baldroy went over to Sebastian while looking at Edward and Elizabeth.
"Sebastian, who exactly are they?"Baldroy asked.
"They are the master and mistress' future spouses in several years."Sebastian declared.
Baldroy, Finnian and Mey-Rin became horrified at Sebastian's respond.
"THE MASTER AND MISTRESS' FUTURE SPOUSES?!"Baldroy, Finnian and Mey-Rin shouted in unison.
"Lady Elizabeth and Lord Edward are of the nobility after all. They're children of a Marquess."Sebastian exclaimed. "Nobles marry other Nobles. That is how it works."
Celine looked at Edward.
"So, Lizzy can you kindly tell us why you decided to decorate our manor?"Celine asked innocently.
"I thought that this place could use a little more life in it."Elizabeth admitted happily and turned to the room. "I decided I want to do something special for our visit."
"Ugh, the mansion."Ciel groaned. "It's so pink."
"What's wrong Ciel?"Edward scoffed. "Don't like the way my sister tries to liven up the place?"
"I think what Ciel is trying to say, 'Thank you for making the manor more colourful, Lizzy'."Celine remarked and thought distastefully. "Though it honestly look too girly."
An excited gasp came out from the Lady of Midford's mouth when she got an idea.
"Oh! I know!"Elizabeth said in a cheerful tone. "Now that manner is decorated so prettily, why don't we have a ball tonight?"
Ciel cringed at Elizabeth's declaration while Celine had a unsure look on her face.
"You can be my escort and we'll dance around all night long. The same goes with Edward and Celine."Elizabeth admitted joyfully. "Isn't that a wonderful idea?"
"A ball?"Celine said thoughtfully. "We haven't had one in the manor for a while."
"It actually had been two years and a half since the last one, Cellie."Edward admitted.
"Right."Celine replied with a sheepish smile.
"A ball?"Ciel scowled. "No-"
Elizabeth grabbed Ciel as she twirled around with him.
"You wear the clothes I pick out for you won't you?"Elizabeth asked with a bright smile. "Pretty please, they'll be so cute on you!"
"Listen, I don't want to-"Ciel started.
"And, of course, I'll be dressed to the night as well!"Elizabeth stated dreamily.
Celine tried to quietly sneak out out of the room, but got caught by Elizabeth much to her dismay.
"Cece!"Elizabeth laughed and grabbed Celine's wrist. "You come with me! I want to make you even cuter than you already are!"
"No, Lizzy!"Celine shouted in terror. "Please! No!"
Elizabeth joyfully dragged Celine out of the room as the others watched them go in silence.
"Wait, I said no ball!"Ciel protested and the door closed. "Ugh!"
Edward glanced at Ciel.
"Well, you're going to have to accept my sister's wishes, Ciel."Edward declared firmly before becoming angry. "Though don't expect that I will accept you after the ball!"
Ciel frowned as Edward walked away from him.
"I was going to say the same thing to you."Ciel muttered.
In Ciel's Study...
Ciel sat in his chair in his study with his head in her arms as Sebastian prepared tea for him.
"I believe the wisest course of action would be to go along with Lady Elizabeth's plan as Lord Edward said."Sebastian stated as he poured tea in a cup. "I don't think she's going to listen to reason."
"Can't you just give her some tea or something and get her out of here?"Ciel retorted. "I don't have time for a stupid ball."
"My lord."Sebastian said as he placed the cup of tea in the desk. "Lady Elizabeth would like a dance, you cannot refuse her."
Ciel lifted the tea cup, turning his head away from his butler.
"Master."Sebastian responded.
"What now?"Ciel questioned.
"I know I've never seen you dance before but, I assume that you can."Sebastian suggested.
Ciel simply hid his face behind a nearby group of papers he held up to look at.
"Oh, I see."Sebastian responded and turned to cut a slice of orchard fruit cake he had prepared. "Well, that explains why you're always such a wall flower at social engagements."
"I have too much work to do."Ciel declared. "I don't have to to waste on dancing."
Sebastian took the papers away from Ciel.
"With all do respect, dancing is a necessary skill for a person of your position to posses."Sebastian declared as he shoved the slice of cake in front of his young master face. "In your line of work master, social contracts are important to maintain."
"Ughh..."Ciel scoffed uncomfortably.
"The world expects any noble gentleman to posses at least rudimentary dance skills."Sebastian explained. "If you turn down too many invitations simply because you cannot dance, your reputation in high society will suffer greatly."
"Fine, I'll do it."Ciel retorted with a irritated look as he took the slice of cake. "Now stop the lecture. Call me in a private tutor or something. Mrs Bright or Mrs Rodkins should work well enough."
Sebastian took out his pocket watch to look at the time.
"We don't have enough sufficient time to call in a tutor for you, my lord."Sebastian stated and smiled at Ciel. "There's only one option. With your permission, I will be your dance instructor."
"Don't be ridiculous!"Ciel argued angrily slapping his fists on the table. "I'm not going to take dance instruction from a man! Besides, do you even know how to dance?"
"The Viennese Waltz is my specialty."Sebastian declared proudly. "I was a guest at the Schonbrunn Palace in Vienna from time to time."
Ciel stared at Sebastian with a stunned look as the butler offered his hand to him.
"Now if you would do me the honor, my lady."Sebastian said. "May I have this dance?"
Sebastian began to teach Ciel how to dance.
"Let's begin. To lead, you start the first step on your heel."Sebastian instructed as he placed his hand on his upper arm. "Be sure to keep your hand firmly upon the lady's back. When the music starts, lead with your left foot. Now. Next we'll try a natural turn. Slide your foot forward, like this."
Ciel nervously danced with Sebastian while clinging to his butler for support.
Sebastian looked at Ciel and let out a sigh.
"Unlike the young mistress, your natural ability for dancing isn't so much lacking as it is non-existent, my lord."Sebastian declared. "You cannot simply cling for dear life onto your dance partner."
"You're too tall!"Ciel complained with a frown. "It's not working!"
Sebastian removed his hand from his master's and gripped his cheek to pull it.
"Most importantly, You need to wipe that gloomy look off of your face."Sebastian added. "The lady will take it as an insult."
Ciel scowled as Sebastian tried to make his face smile.
"No, let's have a smile."Sebastian insisted. "Pretend that it's fun."
"Let me go!"Ciel shouted.
Ciel slapped Sebastian's hand away from him causing the butler to become surprised.
"Master."Sebastian said.
Ciel turned around and narrowed his eyes on the blue gem embedded on the ring.
"I can't smile. I forgot how."Ciel admitted with a hint of shame. "I don't know how to pretend like I'm having fun. Not anymore."
In Celine's Bedroom…
Celine stared at her reflection in a mirror, wearing the dress that Elizabeth picked out for her.
The Lady of Phantomhive wore a navy blue dress starting with the collar, the collar had a white pinstripe with white lace. It had white lace with a pink choker with a sapphire gem on it. The waist was a pink belt with pinstripes. The sleeves also had white pinstripes and white ruffles and pink bows. The skirt was comprised of drapes with pinstripes and bows attached to it. There were also a few ruffles layers. One was blue with white pinstripes, one is pink, and the last one was white. Underneath she had white stockings and navy blue high heeled shoes with little white bows on them. Her bluish grey hair was pulled back in curls and had a white bow with a sapphire gem attached behind her head.
"Hmm..."Celine said with a smile as she looked at herself. "Not bad."
As Celine looked at her reflection, she imagined herself as a young woman in her beautiful wedding dress before being lead down the aisle and-
She snapped out of her thoughts, when she remembered the painful events that occurred almost three years and made her lose her innocence.
How can she ever heal from that?
Celine still loved Edward so deeply.
But the idea of marrying him after everything that had happened to her, Astre and Ciel made her hesitate.
Was it because she was scared that she might lose him like she lost her parents or something would shatter her newfound happiness in the future?
Celine shook her head and frowned.
"I am not going to be left in the dark again."Celine thought with a firm look. "I am the Lady of Phantomhive. I will survive whatever there is to come."
In the Front Lobby of the Phantomhive Manor...
Edward wore a dark green tuxedo and black shoes.
He waited for the Phantomhive siblings as Mey-Rin helped Elizabeth get ready for the ball.
Elizabeth wore a red wine lolita-style dress with pale pink lace trimming that had three layers on the pink skirt, a rose pink bow on the chest area and bell sleeves. She also wore white stockings and dark brown Mary-Jane shoes. On her hands were pale pink gloves. Her hair style was the same and had a red wine ribbon band with little pink roses on her head.
"Blue is definitely Ciel and Celine's colour. It will look so good on both of them. You should see the clothes I've found, I got them today in London! They're great!"Elizabeth admitted to Mey-Rin, who was adjusting the girl's dress properly, worrying she might make a mistake. "Ciel will look dashing and Celine will look beautiful."
Elizabeth brought her attention on Mey-Rin.
"Now, time to get you dressed up."Elizabeth declared happily. "I'll make you look so adorable!"
Elizabeth moved to pull off Mey-Rin's glasses causing the maid to panic and back away from the blonde haired girl.
"I'm really far sighted!"Mey-Rin panicked. "I can't see anything without my glasses, milady!"
"You don't have to see at a ball to have fun."Elizabeth remarked. "Now hand those over silly."
"Ugh! No no no!"Mey-Rin protested as she held her glasses. "Please! Please!"
"Lizzy-"Edward started.
Edward wanted his younger sister to leave Mey-Rin alone, but a voice stopped her from doing so.
"Just leave her alone."Ciel ordered.
Everyone looked up to see Ciel and Celine standing up the stairs with Sebastian standing by his side.
Ciel wore a navy blue suit with short pants and a matching tailcoat held halfway closed with a metal chain fastener and a muted light blue vest overtop a white shirt. A large white bow sits center of the cravat, white stockings and brown buckled high-heel shoes. On his head was a navy blue hat with a blue and white-striped ribbon which had a few blue roses to the middle. On his hands were black gloves.
Elizabeth and Edward stared at there future spouses in awe.
Edward held out his hand, when Celine walked down slowly and put her hand gently in his before he lead her to the dance floor
"You look wonderful this evening, Celine."Edward declared.
Celine blushed a little and gives her fiancé a shy smile.
"Thank you, Edward."Celine responded.
Elizabeth smiled brightly and rushed over to Ciel.
"Ciel! You look adorable!"Elizabeth giggled. "That outfit is absolutely perfect!"
Elizabeth laughed as she threw herself at Ciel again and holds his hand.
But then a dark angry look appeared on the Lady of Midford's face when she sees that her fiancé was not wearing the rinf she brought him.
"Ciel, why aren't you wearing the ring I brought you?"Elizabeth questioned darkly. "It matches your clothing perfectly, now where did it go?"
"What's the big idea, Ciel?"Edward questioned with a glare. "Are you too good to wear something my sister bought?"
"The ring I already have on will work."Ciel answered simply.
Celine went forward to defend her older brother.
"Edward, please."Celine said with a nervous smile. "That ring is very important to Ciel."
Elizabeth began to throw a tantrum at Ciel's respond.
"No! I went to so much trouble! That ring isn't cute at all!"Elizabeth complained angrily and dropped on the ground to cry. "Oh why wouldn't you wear the ring that I picked out specially for you, you're so cruel! I just want everything to be perfect for our lovely..."
"That's not it."Celia sighed.
"Lizzy, this ring is-"Ciel started.
Elizabeth suddenly stopped crying and a wide menacing grin formed on her face as she turned and jumped towards Ciel, aiming for the ring.
"Hm! Hah! Fooled you!"Elizabeth laughed as she held the ring. "It's mine now!"
"Lizzy."Ciel scowled.
"Please, give the ring back."Celine begged calmly. "It is something very important."
"This is far too big for Ciel, Cece."Elizabeth remarked and looked at Ciel. "The one I bought will fit perfectly. Just put it on and-"
"Give it back!"Ciel snapped and reached out his hand. "Give me that ring now, Elizabeth!"
Everybody, even Celine, Edward and Sebastian, gasped and stared at Ciel, surprised that he actually raised his voice at her.
Elizabeth stared at her fiancé, feeling hurt by his harsh words.
"Wha-why are you so angry at me?"Elizabeth asked quietly. "I just, wanted."
Ciel remained unfazed and deepened his scowl.
"What's wrong?"Elizabeth cried in heart break. "I just wanted to make everything look adorable that's all. So why, why are you so angry?! I hate this ring! Take it!"
Elizabeth clenched her fists and threw the ring to the ground causing it to shatter.
Celine became shocked at Elizabeth's action and covered her mouth.
"Oh no."Celine whispered in heartbreak. "Not Papa's ring."
Ciel grew even more angry as he charged towards Elizabeth and raised his hand in the air, ready to strike her.
Elizabeth gasped in fear as he's about to hit her, but Sebastian appeared by his side and grabbed his wrist.
Celine sighed softly in relief because she really didn't want her older brother to slap Elizabeth.
Ciel looked at the head butler.
"Master."Sebastian said and puts the cane in Ciel's hand. "You forgot the walking stick we went to so much trouble to get."
Edward glared at Ciel.
"What's the matter with you, Ciel?!"Edward scowled angrily. "You would hit my own sister for an accessory she just broke?!"
Ciel lets out a shaky breath, realizing what he was about to do and stared at Elizabeth as she started to cry and looked down at the now destroyed ring.
"Forgive my master, Lord Edward and Lady Elizabeth. But that ring was something very important to him."Sebastian declared. "It's a precious heirloom passed down to the head of the Phantomhive family. He's grown quite attached to it, it's truly one of a kind. Please try to understand why this upset him."
The future Marquess of Midford looked at his fiancée.
"So that ring previously belonged to Uncle Vincent and the other Phantomhive heads before him?"Edward assumed with a hint of shock.
Celine gives a weak smile.
"That's right."Celine agreed with a nod.
Elizabeth's eyes widen, feeling dreaded with guilt about what she has done to Ciel.
"I-it was that important?"Elizabeth sobbed. "And I destroyed it. Ciel, please, I-"
Celine sees Ciel picking up the shattered ring from the floor.
"Brother, what are you doing?"Celine asked in a nervous tone.
Ciel doesn't respond to his sister as he walked over to the opened window and throws the shattered ring away outside.
Everyone gasped again when he did that, knowing how important that ring was.
Elizabeth rushed over to the window as Ciel walked away from it.
"Ciel, wait!"Elizabeth protested. "What are you doing?"
"It doesn't matter."Ciel answered simply before looking at his sister and the servants. "It was nothing but an old ring after all. Even without it, I'm still the head of the Phantomhive and that won't change."
Sebastian smirked while Celine looked troubled at her brother's action.
"But that ring was the only thing we had left that belonged to Papa."Celine thought with a hurtful look.
Ciel turned back to Elizabeth and sees that she was still crying.
"How long are you going to cry?"Ciel asked.
"I-I'm so sorry."Elizabeth cried.
Ciel takes a handkerchief out and wipes the rest of Elizabeth's tears away.
"Your face is a mess. Completely unsuitable for a lady."Ciel admitted and smiled. "How could I possibly ask a lady with a runny nose and puffy eyes to dance?"
"To dance?"Elizabeth asked softly.
Not a second later, everyone all began to hear violin music playing and looked over to see Sebastian, standing on top of the staircase while playing a violin.
"He's incredible!"Mey-Rin remarked.
"He plays the violin, is there anything he can't do?"Finnian asked.
Mey-Rin stared at Sebastian with admiration.
Ciel smiled at Elizabeth.
"So then, you're agreed?"Ciel questioned and reached out his hand to her. "We'll forget our cares and dance the night away. It's decided."
"Yes."Elizabeth answered with tears of joy.
Ciel and Elizabeth began to dance together.
Celine smiled at the sight and went over to Edward to offer her hand to him.
"Shall we dance as well, Eddie?"Celine asked kindly.
Edward gently clasped his fiancée's hand and smiled back at her.
"Of course."Edward answered.
Edward and Celine started dancing together while Ciel danced with Elizabeth, all of them ignoring the misfortunes that happened and enjoy the rest of their evening.
Later that Night...
After the danced ended, Edward and Elizabeth were given a room to sleep in.
Ciel complained to Sebastian as his butler placed on his night shirt on him so he could sleep.
"It's finally over. What a horrible day it's been."Ciel retorted. "Aunt Francis is going to come and pick them up tomorrow."
"You seem to have enjoyed yourself for a while, my lord."Sebastian admitted.
"Don't be so foolish."Ciel commented simply.
"Am I the fool here?"Sebastian questioned.
Ciel glared at Sebastian as he kneeled before him.
"I know the importance of this ring."Sebastian said and placed his hands over his. "And yet you put on that act for your sister, Lady Elizabeth and Lord Edward."
When Sebastian removed his hand from Ciel's, the Phantomhive ring appeared in the Earl's thumb.
It was completely intact.
Like it never broke before.
Ciel gasped in surprise and looked at his smiling butler.
"If I couldn't do this much for my master well, then what kind of butler would I be?"Sebastian asked. "But you should take care. It is precious this ring. It has seen so much."
"That is true, it's always there. This ring has seen the death of many masters."Ciel declared as Sebastian placed away his eye patch. "My grandmother, my father and eventually this ring will witness my own death as well. It's heard the dying screams of the Phantomhive family for generation upon generation. I close my eyes, I hear them too. Voices echoing in my head. If I throw the ring away, I won't have to listen to them screaming anymore. At least that's what I believed. Hmph, ridiculous, yes?"
"My, look how high the moon has risen."Sebastian said as he proceeded to tuck his young master into bed. "You must get some rest, sir. You don't want to make yourself ill do you?"
Sebastian took the candelabra and walked to the door until Ciel spoke up.
"Sebastian, stay with me until I fall asleep."Ciel ordered.
"Goodness, are you displaying weakness in front of me now?"Sebastian questioned with a smile.
"Just a simple order."Ciel muttered.
Sebastian smirked and stood by Ciel's bedside, kneeling down to him.
"I will stay here."Sebastian assured gently. "I am by your side forever, master. Until the end."
Ciel soon fell fast asleep after listening to his butler's words.
Then Sebastian walked out of Ciel's room and closed the door before he began to think about Ciel's opposing earlier words.
"I'm still the head of the Phantomhive and that won't change!"
"Stay with me."
Sebastian quietly opened the door of Celine's room and saw the young mistress sleeping peacefully while holding one of her stuffed rabbit toys.
The butler then gently closed the door to prevent Celine from waking up.
Sebastian placed a hand to his face and when he removed it, there was a smirk.
It was interesting that his young master showed weakness to him instead of his own sister.
"Now, I must prepare for tomorrow."Sebastian declared.
Sebastian walked in the hallway holding the candelabra as the darkness got engulfed by it's light.
