Boston, Massachusetts

Enid Dawson was yet again hosting the annual Daughters of the Revolution tea. It was a group made up of ladies from families that dated back to the colonies and had fought for the country's freedom. They would mainly run charity drives, galas, and tea parties like the one Enid was hosting. At these tea parties, they mainly gossiped and this time the gossip was surrounding the scandal that was just hitting the Hockleys of Pennsylvania. What a mess. The son's seemingly deceased fiancee had shown back up in a small town in Wisconsin, married to someone else. The girl had faked her death during the Titanic disaster and now all of high society were in an uproar.

"I can't help but think of that poor mother. What must she be thinking now that the girl has shown back up alive and well? I hope the Hockleys don't try to make them pay back all that money that had been spent," Enid chuckled, just as the butler entered carrying a telegraph.

"For you, my lady. It's from a Randall Drake," The butler handed over the message.

"Randall Drake? Why I haven't heard from him in years! Not since he had moved to Philadelphia! I wonder what this is about! He was just as devastated as I was when my dear brother disappeared without a trace," Enid frowned.

"Well open it and read it dear," Milly Townsend, one of Enid's best friends urged, wanting some new gossip to discuss.

Enid did just that. She took the card out of the envelope and read, "Dearest Enid, I do hope that you remember me. It has been years since we've seen each other. I am writing from Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin to let you know that I have found out what had become of your brother Eric. It turns out that he had settled down in this town, got married, and had a son. Sadly, six years ago, there was a fire that killed Eric and his wife, leaving his son Jack an orphan. Jack is 21 years old now and has a wife and child of his own, if you would like to see him and where your brother had settled, telegraph me back and we'll make arrangements for your travel. Yours truly, Randall Drake."

"Oh, how exciting!" Milly gasped. "Finally, we know what happened to dear Eric. And he has a son? Oh, Enid, you must meet him!"

"I intend to do just that. Renald! Give me a pen so I may send my answer!"

"Yes, Miss."

Enid had to admit, she was shocked by this news. She had been so heartbroken when her twin brother had run away and disappeared off the face of the earth. She had hoped that he was still alive somewhere enjoying the life he wanted to live since he had been so unhappy in Boston. But to know that he was dead, that she never even had the chance to see him again, it broke her heart. At least there was a part of her brother still on the earth. His son and she looked forward to meeting him and bringing him home to Boston, where he belonged, with the rest of the family.

…..

It was the middle of the night. Lily was in bed and so were Tommy and Leah. Fabrizio and Sarah were still on their honeymoon but would return the next day.

Jack ran a hand through his hair as he slipped into bed next to Rose, who was looking through his portfolio.

"Found anything that you particularly liked?" Jack chuckled as Rose closed the binder and sat it on the nightstand.

"I like them all, even though they're all pictures of me and Lily. Don't you have anyone else to draw, Jack?"

"No one as beautiful as you and Lily. You both just inspire me the most," Jack shrugged with a small smile.

"But what happened to being inspired by life in general. By the human condition? It's the reason why you hate cubism and dotism so much. Even though I love it."

"I know, I know. Truth, but no logic."

Rose simply giggled and climbed onto his lap. "Exactly."

Jack gasped, feeling his body react to hers. Looking at her, she was so beautiful, with her red curls just flowing down her back and shoulders, her breasts pressing against the white fabric of the nightgown, begging for his hands to cup them, her lips pink and parted, begging to be kissed, her green eyes lit with the brightness of her desire for him. "You're so beautiful…"

Rose leaned forward, settling against his hardness that was covered by the thin layers of his pajamas. She wrapped her arms around his neck and whispered in his ear. "Put your hands on me, Jack."

Jack moaned as she claimed his lips and her covered breasts were pressing against his hands, begging for his touch. He pulled out of the kiss, panting heavily. "This is in the way…," he gripped the material of the nightdress and pulled it off over her head, exposing her body to him. He licked his lips, seeing how ready she was for his touch.

She sighed as she felt his artistic hands on her, molding her into something beautiful and magnificent. She closed her eyes as her lips were once again against his and her tongue slid into his to dance alongside his tongue in a sensual dance.

Her hands slid down his chest and abs just to grip his pajamas and tug them down and off, leaving his own body exposed and ready for her. She gasped she took him in and felt him fill her up. They clung together as they moved together in slow motions, savoring the act of just being together and consummating their love.

Finally, with a euphoric cry from them both, they reached the stars and came back down, panting heavily, exhausted, but sated.

Rose fell against his chest and sighed happily as she felt his arms wrap around her.

"I love you so much, Jack. I can't imagine not having this with you...not having you…"

Jack smiled, kissing her sweat-soaked red curls. "I can't imagine that either. I just hope that you never regret being with me, Rose. I know things could be changing for us financially...and I know how much you had hated that world…"

Rose sat up and looked into his eyes, her own eyes clear and full of emotion. "I hated that world because of how the people who surrounded me treated me. Mother, Cal...they were the reasons I hated it. Not that world itself. If I had you in my life from the start, I would have been happy. Rich or poor. So, you have nothing to worry about Jack. No matter where we are, or what we do...no matter what cards life deals us, I'm happy as long as I'm with you."

"Are you sure? Because, if you rather we not even acknowledge the Boston Dawsons, just say the world."

Rose simply laughed. "I rather you explore every inch of your family. The Chippewa Dawsons and the Boston Dawsons, just as long as you're happy and we're together."

"I have to admit though...I'm nervous. There has to be a reason why my father had run away from it all and not looked back. Didn't even mention that I had an aunt or grandparents. What actually happened for him to do that?"

"It is a wonder."

"I have so many questions for him, yet he's not here to answer any of them. A part of me...I can't help it, I'm mad at him, Rose! I feel like he lied to me! That my whole childhood had been one big lie! That I didn't know him at all!"

"Oh Jack," Rose kissed away a single tear that was sliding down his cheek. "I'm so sorry."

"Now I have to get to know these strangers, have them come and be a part of my and my family's lives and I don't even know if it's a good thing because I don't know them, all thanks to my father!'

Rose winced, realizing something as she watched Jack struggle with this revelation about his father's past. "Seeing you go through this...it's making me glad that Cal found us and told my mother of my survival. I can just imagine our children feeling the same way you do if I kept her in the dark."

"Kind of makes you see how things could have ended up later on down the road, huh?"

Rose simply nodded. "I never want them to feel like this...that we lied to them. Like they never knew who their mother was…"

"Now they won't. Ruth found out. She came here and you two talked and now have peace with one another."

Rose smiled moving her hands from his face to his damp blond hair. "It's going to be alright, Jack. Our family will be alright. If they come here to meet you, you'll solve your father's mystery. You'll find out why he had run from his family and kept them out of your life. Then your anger may fade to understanding and you can move on and we'll all be the better for it."

"I'm almost afraid to find out if I'm honest. I don't know why, but I am."

"Fear can be a good thing."

"It can also be bad. God, I wish that Pa had told me about his family instead of keeping it a secret. I'm just a bundle of nerves about this now."

Rose kissed him once more. "Then let's go to sleep. Put it to bed for the night and think about it some more in the morning."

"How about one more trip to the stars, and then we can go to sleep," Jack smirked.

Rose smirked. "I do love the way you think."

She claimed his lips in a passionate kiss once again and they were off for another voyage, coming down only to fall asleep in each other's arms, laying all their worries of the day to rest for the time being.
