Cherry Pies and Backwards Baseball Hats
Chapter TWELVE
EPOV
2 Weeks Later
"I keep forgetting to ask. Do you need a week or two off for your honeymoon?" I knew Uncle Al would give me a month if I asked for it.
"Let me talk to Bella. She hasn't mentioned anything about a honeymoon." I used the air gun to put the lug-nuts back on a tire I had taken off so I could do the brakes on a Peterbuilt.
"Just let me know," Uncle Al said. "I've got enough people now to cover you while you're out. Plus, you have vacation time that you never use."
I looked over my shoulder at him. "I'll call you later once I find out."
I cleaned up my area and headed home. The next day was Sunday and lucky for me, no work. I planned to sleep in with my woman. Tomorrow is officially her birthday.
When I pulled up to the house, there was a strange car parked in my spot. I didn't know Bella had plans for company to visit. The front door wasn't even latched all the way and I was surprised Winchester didn't try to make a run for it. He was sitting by the table in the foyer staring at the door like he was contemplating his escape. "Don't even think about it."
That's when he hissed at me and took off towards our bedroom.
Laughter from a man rang out from the living room, then I heard Bella and another man.
Once I reached the living room there were two men I've never met and Bella. She looked so happy. Especially with her feet propped up in the lap of a huge Indian man.
"Mason!" Bella yelled then jumped up from the couch. "You're off early."
"And I didn't know I'd be coming home to two extra men in the house." I leaned down and kissed her. "Who's our company?" I whispered against her lips.
"Oh, these two aren't company. This is Jacob and Jose. They surprised me today, obviously. They decided it was time to come home from the hiking trip in Venezuela for the last six months."
I nodded because I definitely remember her telling me about her guy best friend, and that he's bi-sexual.
When I stepped further into the living room, both men stood up to greet me. "It's finally nice to meet you."
"Yes, definitely nice to meet the man who stole AnaB's heart away from me." I chuckled. "Oh, don't worry though; ain't nobody replacing my Jose unless you become available."
Another nervous laugh escaped me until the other guy stepped in front of Jacob. "Oh stop," he said to Jacob. "You're more my type." Then he stuck his hand out. "I'm Jose." Then he threw his thumb towards Jacob. "This big lugs better half, and if we're hearing things correctly, we've got us a wedding and a baby on the way?"
"No one knows about the baby, yet," I started to say until Jose held up his hands.
"We know all about the big surprise." Then he shook his head. "I have no idea how she's gone this long without anyone noticing she's clearly pregnant. I knew the moment I saw her."
That's when Bella piped in. "We've sort of been avoiding everyone; saying we have plans or one of us isn't feeling too well."
"You haven't even seen your mom?" Jacob asked.
We all finally sat down with Bella on my lap in the big plush chair while the other two men sat on the couch. "You two wanna stay for dinner? I'm not sure what's on the menu for tonight, but you're more than welcome to join us."
Jacob and Jose looked at each other then back at us then shrugged. "We don't have plans."
"I could cook or we could order out from Ray's?" The moment she mentioned Ray's, my stomach growled.
Bella laughed. "Mason's stomach says Ray's."
"I've missed a good sausage pizza. Oh and their Calzones," Jacob said as he reached into his back pocket to pull his wallet out. "Sausage calzone for me." He threw a twenty down on the coffee table.
We ended up ordering two large pizzas and two calzone's with canoli's for dessert. I felt like I ate more food than any of them all together. I wondered for a split second if I was having pregnancy cravings like Bella.
By nine that evening, Jacob and Jose left to head home leaving me with a nearly comatose Bella. She'd been falling asleep an hour or so earlier than usual. It definitely had to be the baby sucking all the energy out of her.
Sometime in the middle of the night, Bella's cell rang. I ended up answering it because she didn't budge from the annoying ring. "Hello," I said groggily.
"Mason, this is Jacob. I'm really sorry to wake you, but I need to speak to AnaB; it's an emergency."
"Sure." I rolled over to give Bella's shoulder a shake. "Babe, Jake's on the phone. He says it's an emergency."
Bella shot up. "What? What's wrong?"
"It's Jake. He says it's an emergency."
I handed her the phone and listened as she spoke to him. "Jake? What's wrong?"
I watched her face as it contorted. "Are you okay? What about Jose?" She rubbed a hand over her face. "Do you need any help?" She glance over at me. "Yeah, give us thirty and we'll be there." She moved the covers from her legs. "Did it damage both cars?" She shook her head. "I'm sorry that happened." She stood up and I followed. "That's fine. You know you always have a place here."
When she said that, it made me worry for her friend, and once she ended her call, she changed into some yoga pants and a t-shirt. She explained what happened as she got dressed then pulled a brush through her hair. "Jake's house caught on fire. By the time they were woke up by the smoke alarms, half the house was already in flames. They think it was electrical. It burned up both the cars; they have nothing left."
"Fuck, that sucks, baby." I pulled a t-shirt over my head and slid my feet into a pair of my sneakers.
"I know. They don't have anywhere to go, so they're coming here. We have to go get them, though. I hope you don't mind. You know Jake is more or less my brother and I would do..."
I pressed my fingers to her lips to stop her from talking. "I wouldn't have it any other way. I know what he means to you. They can stay downstairs."
We pulled up in front of Jacobs blackened house. The fire department was still there spraying the house down. There was barely a brick left standing. They're lucky they got out in time.
Jake and Jose had robes on and were leaning against the fire chiefs suburban when I shut my truck off. Bella started crying the second she saw the house. She went straight to them and wrapped her arms around them. "I'm so glad you weren't hurt."
Jacob and Jose had devastation written across their faces. "Thanks, AnaB. We had no one else to call."
"You know you always have a place with us; we have plenty of room for you, and you can stay as long as you need to."
I hugged both of the men, as well. "Were you able to get anything out?"
"We can't go back in until the fire department says we can. It may take a few days."
"You can use my car," Bella told Jake. "Mason and I can carpool until you get stuff worked out."
"Thank you, again, AnaB. You're a life saver."
I was glad my full sized truck was a crew cab. Even though Jake was a tad bigger than me, him and Jose fit just fine in the back. It stumped me for a few minutes, though, because we'd be putting a lot of miles on my truck because she works clear on the other side of town from where I work.
Bella had a Jumbo Jack attack on our way home, so we went through the drive thru at Jack in the Box. I hated eating this late at night, but I knew if I didn't get something, I'd want to eat half of hers.
When we got home, Bella helped Jose make up one of the beds downstairs. All the beds were usually made, but after Eric and Tanya had stayed with us a while ago, Bella stripped all the beds and washed all the sheets and comforters.
Jake and I sat in the living room and talked a bit while Jose and Bella were downstairs. "I've known AnaB my whole life and I know just about everything about that girl. Hell, I even know the first time she got her period. She even made me go to the store with her to buy her damn pads."
I chuckled at him. "Did you actually buy them, or did she?"
"She did, but I was right there with her. I was even with her when she got her first bra. That's when I knew I loved her because she let me see her in her new bra."
I gave him a surprised look. "Are you freakin' kidding me?"
"Nope, but that was when I first started to discover that I liked men, too. We've just, you know, been through a lot together."
I nodded. "I'm sure a room full of gay men could find something to love about her."
Bella and Jose walked into the living room. "All done," she said. "There's towels in the linen closet by the bathroom. I know you don't have any clothes, but I'm sure Mason might have something you can barrow until you can get your own or buy some."
"Cool," Jake said. "We'll worry about that tomorrow. It's way passed our bedtime, right now." He stood from the couch and approached Bella to hug her. "Night, AnaB."
Jose hugged her next then we all went to our rooms.
"Has anyone ever told you that you have a heart of gold?"
She smiled at me just as she pulled her t-shirt off. "Nope."
Then she pushed her yoga pants down before crawling into bed with just her panties on. That's when I couldn't keep my eyes off the tiny basketball sticking out on the front of her body.
I got undressed only to climb in next to my future wife, and pulled the covers down to expose her stomach. I placed my hand over our baby boy and rubbed. I couldn't wait to feel him move around. Then I moved my hand down further to slip under the elastic of her panties.
She opened her legs for me to have easier access to her promise land.
I found her clit easily and rubbed around in small circles then dipped down to her opening to find her nice and slick. I made sure to have her worked up and ready before I maneuvered between her legs and pulled her panties off before I threw them on the floor. She looked absolutely delicious, so I didn't hesitate to go in headfirst. Her feet were propped open on my shoulders as I dined at Bella's for the next ten to fifteen minutes.
Before her orgasm had calmed, I was up and pushing inside of her. I held myself up and watched as I made love to my fiance. I was loving pregnancy sex more and more every day. Especially in the morning before I leave for work.
After we were cleaned up, we snuggled in for the rest of the night. "Did Jake own his house?"
"No, it was a rental, but he's lived there for about two years, maybe three. It's his uncle Quil's house."
"I hope he had renters insurance." I placed my hand on Bella's stomach, a habit I had gained after she told me she was pregnant.
Bella adjusted herself for us to spoon and I put my hand right back where it had been. "I'm sure he does," she said when she put her hand over mine.
The next day when we all decided it was time to climb out of bed, I headed straight for the kitchen for my coffee, and I wanted to make breakfast for Bella. It's her birthday, and I wanted to pamper her, but Jacob and Jose were already sitting at the table with a spread of breakfast. I was surprised the smell didn't wake me.
"Morning," I said going for my cup. "You two sleep okay?"
"As well as we could considering," Jacob said. "I got a call from the investigator already. It was definitely electrical. It started in the attic above the laundry room."
"That was quick. Investigations usually take forever for something like that." I poured my creamer into my cup before pushing start on the Keurig machine.
"Not when the investigator is a family member," Jose said. "Jake's cousin Embry was the inspector."
I gave them a smile. "It's always nice to have someone like that around."
Jake and Jose looked a little worse for wear, but considering they just lost everything they own, who wouldn't be? "Embry said the structure is stable enough for us to see if there's anything salvageable. The far back room is the only one that didn't get touched by the fire, but water ruined a lot of stuff in there."
I joined them at the table to dig into the food. I would take some to Bella as soon as I was done. "We can head over when you're ready. You can take Bella's car so me and her can meet you there with my truck just in case you can save some stuff."
"Thanks Edward," Jose said. "You and AnaB are life savers."
"You're family,' I tell them then look up as Bella dragged herself into the kitchen. "Morning sunshine. Happy Birthday."
She looked so damn cute with her perfect, tiny stomach sticking out from the bottom of her tank top. "Thank you," she grumbled. "Who cooked?"
"I did," Jose said. "My boyfriends stomach woke me up, plus, he told me it was your birthday today, and I wanted to do this as a birthday breakfast for you."
Bella hugged Jose. "Thank you. I really do appreciate it."
Then Jacob had to throw his two cents in. "Don't forget to admit that your farts woke me up," Jacob said in defense of his growling stomach.
"Maybe Jose and Mason should share a room," Bella said. "There's been some nights I have to sleep with my head under my pillow."
"You're one to talk," I shot back. "Ever since we found out she's pregnant, all she has to do it roll over and she rips ass."
She smacked my arm. "I do not, you jackass."
"I'm sorry AnaB, but I have to take Edward's side. We grew up together, remember, and we were always spending the night with each other."
"You're both jackasses," she said as she opened the fridge and pulled the orange juice out.
Once we ate and cleaned up, I got some clothes together that Jake and Jose could wear. They were lucky we all wore close to the same sizes. The clothes fit Jose perfectly, but Jake, well, I had a pair of short that fit him perfectly, but the shirt I found for him, it was a little on the tight side around his biceps.
By one o'clock we were headed over to Jake's to see what could be saved. It was heartbreaking to see how much they lost. Both of the cars were burnt out completely, and there wasn't much they could really save. Jacob had a safe that was fire and waterproof. Most of all of his important papers were stored in it, so he could get everything taken care of. He had renters insurance that would cover everything and his uncle's homeowner's insurance would cover some, too. The house was a total loss, as far as we knew. It would have to be completely torn down and rebuilt. Jacob said his uncle wasn't even sure he wanted to do that and mentioned just selling the lot to let someone else build what they wanted.
Jake and Jose were outside putting some stuff in the back of my truck while Bella and I were putting stuff into boxes that were salvageable. They had some clothes that just needed to be washed. Bella volunteered to go shopping with them later for more clothes.
"You sure you're okay with them staying with us?" I knew she was only trying to be courteous to my feelings about the situation.
"Baby, I already told Jake and Jose that they were family, so yes, I'm sure; we have plenty of room."
Bella took three steps towards me and gave me a hug before I leaned down to kiss her. "You're amazing," she says. "And I love you."
"I love you, too." I pecked her lips one more time. "Let's get this done so we can go get some lunch. I'm starving."
"Me, too," I hear from the doorway. It was Jake. "Does the birthday girl want anything special?"
Bella couldn't help the smile that graced her face. "Well, since you asked." She closed the box she just finished with. "I want Spaghetti Factory." It was actually called The Old Spaghetti Factory, but I honestly don't think anyone says the entire name.
"I'm game," I said as I put a few more books into a crate.
Once we were done, we made a pit stop at the house to unload the eight boxes of stuff that was salvaged. Jake and Jose were going back the next day to take inventory of all the stuff they lost.
Thank you!
