Cherry Pies and Backwards Baseball Hats

Chapter TWENTY

BPOV

6 months later

When you have a husband as good looking as I do, you can't help but feel proud of yourself for nabbing a guy that could be a GQ model. Then other times, you want to rip every last eyeball, that rolls his way, out of every person that drools over him. These days, it isn't just women setting their sights on him.

I try not to worry too much over any nonsense of him cheating on me. I know his schedule and he knows mine. There's no doubt that he trusts me and the feeling is mutual. It's the skanks that try to rub up on him if we ever try to have fun in public. We've only been out a hand full of times over the last six months. Work has been consuming us along with Ben.

He's almost ten months old and trying his hardest to walk. He pulls up on the couch or anything he can hold on to. Emmett says he's already developed as much as a one-year-old. He very well could be a genius like me. Those are my mom's and my husband's words, not mine.

Since Ben was born, I've taken to calling my husband by his given name. He loves it when we're in the throws of passion. That's a lot because we always make time for fornication no matter what time of day it is. If we have time, we take it.

The day of our first anniversary was the biggest fight we'd had since we got together, but that Sunday, I wanted so badly to kick his ass. Tanya said I should've kicked him to the curb and never looked back. I love every piece of my husband and that includes his flaws.

That night, Jacob and Jose decided to throw a little party for us in celebration of our first year of marriage. Everything was going so well. We were having a great time with only family and close friends. There were nearly fifteen to twenty people in our house. Most of the party was outside with the grill going and my dad manning it. Leah was taking it easy per doctors' orders, so that left my mom, Tanya, Edwards aunt Vicky, to make sure the snacks and drinks were kept filled. Grandpa Chief wasn't able to come because he'd fallen ill a few days before. He instead called to wish us a Happy Anniversary.

Edward was laughing and joking around with Eric and the other men. He was getting pretty drunk, but we were in our own home, so there were no worries about that.

That was until my mom came through the back sliding glass door with my aunt Kathryn following her. Two of her kids were with her; the two youngest.

My mom came straight over as soon as she spotted me. "She just showed up," she told me.

"Did you ask her why she's here?" My blood was starting to boil. The woman knew no boundaries.

"Sweetie," she started just as she gave me a pitiful look. "She has the two youngest with her. What harm can she cause with them here with her?"

Kathryn approached, so we shut up. "Hi, Bella."

"Hi. What are you doing here? I know you weren't invited." She had already made a play at my husband twice.

"I'm sorry. I was in the neighborhood and decided to stop by. I hadn't seen you since..."

I rolled my eyes. "Give me a break," I said, cutting off her explanation. I crossed my arms over my chest. "We don't have anything you want nor do we care what you think."

Her mouth dropped open and my mom put her hand on my shoulder. "Bella, she just wanted to say hello." She turned to Kathryn. "Right, Kat?"

"Well, yeah," she dumbly replied. "You don't have to be so rude."

I shook my head slightly. "You give me every reason in the book to be rude to you."

I glanced over her shoulder as my husband raised his beer bottle at me and entered the house. He just wanted me to know where he was going; even drunk.

"The least you could do is let me visit my sister."

I raised my brows at her. "No. This is my house; you need to leave. If you want to visit your sister, as you say, you can do that at her house. You're not welcome here."

"If I remember correctly, it's my parents' house; they still own this house, so if anyone is leaving, it's you."

I stepped up to her. "Call Poppy. I'm sure he'll tell you otherwise, so I suggest you leave."

"Bella." Mom tried, but I put my hand up to stop her.

"You're such a little brat. You and Ivana's kids get everything from them and mine get nothing."

The truth is, my grandparents love all their grandchildren, but Kathryn's husband takes anything and everything that's been given to them, and sells it. He even takes their money.

"Kat," mom warned. "I think you should go. You can call momma and daddy tomorrow if you have issues with them."

Kathryn huffed. "Fine. Don't think this is over. All I want is to have my family back and you're being a bitch."

"Just go," I tell her.

She gave me a hard, menacing look before she turned to leave. I watched at she made it to the back door before I turned to face my mom. "The nerve of her."

"Bella, she's trying," mom tells me and crosses her arms.

"Mom, she wants my husband. She came on to him both times she showed up at his job."

It had been more than five minutes when Edward went into the house, so I figured he had to use the bathroom while he was inside. That was until I saw Jared sitting on Phil's lap.

Something told me I needed to go inside the house.

I tried to be as quiet as I could so I could catch Kathryn up to something. I knew she was still in the house because her kids were still outside. I heard her talking as I came up to the kitchen. There was a wall that blocked my view, so I stood there to listen to who she was talking to.

"I think you need to be with someone closer to your own age. Bella's still a baby and she's such a spoiled little brat. It makes me sick just thinking about it."

My heart started pounding when I heard my husbands voice respond. "And you think you're closer to my age?"

"I'm only 33; that's a five year difference," I heard her say in return. "I'm more experienced and I definitely know how to treat a man."

I heard the pop of a beer cap being removed from a bottle. "That very well may be true, but..."

She didn't let him finish. "It is. I can prove it to you. You just have to let me show you. Let's go downstairs while Bella's outside, and I'll suck you dick better than she can."

Edward chuckled. "I think I'll pass; it's our anniversary."

It was quiet for a moment too long before I heard a beer bottle slide onto the counter, so that's when I decided to make my presence known, and as soon as I turned the corner, fire ripped through me. "What the fuck?!"

Edward pushed Kathryn away from him. "Bella, she's the one..."

"Save it!" I screamed before punching Kathryn in the face then punched my husband in the mouth and left the room.

I caught them in a lip-lock as Kathryn had her hand on my husbands dick.

"Bella!" I heard Edward coming after me.

I walked outside, picked up Ben from my mothers lap and headed back inside. Kathryn was just closing the front door.

Edward was still following behind me, calling out my name. He even grabbed at my arm, but I jerked it away from him. As soon as I walked into our room, I slammed the door in his face and locked it. I put Ben on the floor for a minute so I could grab Edward's pillow. I wasn't letting him anywhere near me for the rest of the night.

"Bella, open the door. You have to let me explain what happened. You have to know that I'd never do anything to hurt you; I'd never cheat on you."

I opened the door and threw his pillow in his face. "I can't look at you, right now."

"Baby, pl..." I cut him off with the door slamming in his face, again.

I picked Ben up and sat on my bed. I listened as Edward begged from the other side. I was flaming pissed, so the tears hadn't shown their ugly head yet.

I clicked the TV on and picked up a few baby toys off the floor for Ben to play with before sending my mom and Tanya a text. I let them know that I wasn't feeling well and turned in early.

Mom said she'd clean up and call me the next day. Tanya tried at the door, but I urged her away.

Within the hour, Ben was finally asleep on his stomach, so I curled around him and finally let my tears fall until I cried myself to sleep.

Ben slept all over the bed and all over me. I woke up to tiny baby fingers being shoved up my nose. "Morning, Benny." He gladly blew baby spit bubbles at me. "You hungry little man?"

I reached down next to the bed and grabbed a clean diaper and changed him before laying back down, raising my shirt and feeding my son his breakfast. It took about an hour until he was finally done. I nearly fell back to sleep, but it flashed in my head about what happened the night before.

I believe Edward would never cheat on me. He'd have to be so completely out of it to not remember. Even in that state of mind, I believe that I'm so ingrained into his head that no matter the situation, he could still say no.

I placed Ben on the floor with his toys and went about changing my clothes, brushing my teeth, my hair, and believe it or not, I put a little bit of make-up on.

Ben had a plastic ring shoved into his mouth when I bent to pick him up. I could already see how his teething experience was going to happen. "Mommy needs some coffee."

As soon as I opened the door, my snoring husband came falling through. He jerked awake when he realized I had stepped over him. "Oh, thank God."

He jumped up from the floor and took Ben when he reached for him. "There's my little guy." Edward kissed his cheek. "Daddy didn't get to tuck you in last night."

I walked past him and headed for the kitchen, and he followed. "Are you going to talk to me today?"

I wanted him to grovel. "What's there to talk about?"

He must have set everything up for me the night before because my mug and a k-cup was already in the machine. "You know exactly what needs to be talked about." He grabbed the creamer from the fridge for me. "Your aunt."

I stood back and looked at him from head to toe. "That hag you had your mouth on last night?"

"Yes." Then his head jerked to look at me. "Wait, she's the one who did all that."

"I'm sure she did, but I didn't see you trying to push her off." I poured some creamer into my cup as the machine began to brew my caffeine. "Am I not good enough for you anymore?"

Edward put Ben in his highchair and pulled the cheerios from the cabinet to put some on his tray. "Bella, how can you ask me that? You know I'd never do something like that intentionally."

"Do I?" I started to pull the stuff out to make french toast and sausage.

"Yes, you have to," he pleaded. "You're the only woman I want and will ever want."

"You let her touch you. How am I supposed to know it won't happen, again?" I cracked open six eggs into a square dish, added vanilla extract, some cinnamon and a couple of teaspoons of heavy whipping cream. "I can't get that image out of my head."

"I'm sorry. I didn't expect her to do something like that. She must've known you were there, and caught me off guard."

I could feel the tears stinging the corner of my eyes. "She touched your dick."

"And you broke her nose." He pulled me into his chest and hugged me tightly. "I'd never do anything like that on purpose to hurt you, and if I did, I'd gladly let you break my nose." He kissed the top of my head. "If it's any consolation, you busted my lip open."

"You deserved it," I cried into his chest. "How can I trust you drinking around other women from now on?"

He stepped back from me. "I'm not going to stand here and say I'll never be drunk around any other girls because I can't guarantee that. I was drunk last night and like I said, she caught me off guard. She knew I was drunk and tried to take advantage of me, and thankfully I wasn't so far gone that I wouldn't remember."

"You can't ever be like that away from home or without me around."

"Yes, ma'am." He reached for my hand. "Can we start our anniversary over? Please?"

"We definitely need to." I wrapped my arms around him until Ben screamed a happy scream at us. He wanted to be hugged, too.

Since the night I punched my aunt in the face and broke her nose, she hasn't shown her face around my house or at Edwards job.

Apparently, after her husband James found out what happened, that she didn't succeed at seducing my husband, he beat the hell out of her. She ended up in the hospital for more than a week because of her injuries. James finally ended up in jail, which was something that should've happened long ago. A judge granted a permanent restraining order against him to stay away from her and the kids.

My grandparents have, since then, purchased a house big enough for her and her three kids. There were stipulations, though. James wasn't allowed to step foot on the property. If he were to be caught there, she would have to move out without her kids. My grandparents said they'd take her kids away and give them the life they deserved.

She kept to her promise and as far as anyone knew, James doesn't know where she's at. He's shown up on my mom's doorstep looking for her and at my grandparents house. My grandfather threatened him with a gun and he hasn't seen nor heard from him since.

I still don't talk to my aunt. She'll never be welcomed in my home or around my family. I'll never trust her no matter what the situation is.

Graduation was coming up real soon for Tanya and Eric. Those two were still connected at the hip. It's been the longest relationship Tanya's ever been in and I've never seen her happier.

"He wants to get married and have babies," she had told me one day while we were out shopping for a graduation dress for her. "I'm not sure about babies, but marriage, I'm all for it."

"Since when don't you want babies? You love Ben." I held a dress up to see if I'd like it.

She gave me a pouty look. "Benny's different; he's my nephew." She held up another dress. "I don't think I'm the parenting type."

I smiled up at her beautiful face. "I've watched you with Ben, and I can guarantee that you would be a wonderful mother. Eric couldn't have picked a better woman to spend the rest of his life with."

"You're biased. You have to say stuff like that because we're practically sisters, and because you love me."

"Oh stop." I handed her a dress that I knew would look great on her. "I do love you, and I know you love Eric so much that you'd want nothing more than to make babies with him, so imagine for just one minute how cute your babies will be and how happy you will be by reproducing with the love of your life."

Her eyes glazed over as she imagined her future. A smile spread across her lips as if she just found out she won the lottery. "We would have gorgeous babies, wouldn't we?"

"Absolutely." I draped the dress I wanted over my arm. "So, maybe you should start on those babies right away because Jake and Jose are adopting a baby."

"What?!" She practically screamed. "When?"

"They've already met with an agency, and they're also thinking about a surrogate."

She gave me a stunned look. "Can they afford either?"

"They have some money put away from the insurance settlement. I think they're leaning more towards the surrogate because the baby will be biologically Jake's or Jose's."

"Are they getting married?" She started putting the dresses she didn't want back on the rack.

I smiled. "Yeah. Pretty soon, actually. You'll get an invitation."

"That's cool," she said. "I'm in no hurry to have a baby, though. Those two can procreate as much as they want. I'm surprised that Mason hasn't knocked you up, again."

I held my hand up. "Oh, no. That'll have to wait a while longer." We started walking towards the check-out. "I caught him changing the date on the calendar for my next shot so I'd miss it. I had to make sure I got a reminder from the doctor's office for my injection."

"Oh, he's bad." She giggled. "How long are you going to wait?"

"I want Ben to be potty trained. I don't think that's too much to ask for, is it?"

"It's more than enough, and speaking of babies, how's Leah and the newest member of the Swan family?"

Leah had started out with a perfectly healthy pregnancy until around her twenty-seventh week. Her blood pressure started to be very unsteady and higher than normal. Her feet and hands began swelling way too much, and headaches were blinding her. She ended up giving birth to my new baby brother two months premature.

Jonathan Charles was only 2.5 pounds when he was born and lived inside an incubator for two and a half months. Leah practically lived at the hospital until baby JonJon was able to go home. He's only been home close to a month.

"Leah's good and JonJon has to do breathing treatments three times a day." I handed the cashier my credit card. "I think she's decided to have her tubes tied."

"How's your dad feel about that?" Tanya put her three items up on the counter as I signed for mine. "I would assume he's okay with it."

"I guess he's fine with it. He said it was her choice."

"Would you ever get your tubes tied?" She started digging in her purse for her wallet, I assumed.

I shrugged my shoulders. "I honestly don't know."

We finished our shopping trip and stopped at Sweet Tomatoes for some lunch. Ben was with aunt Vicky while I was out having some time for myself. We even stopped at the salon for mani's and pedi's.

Graduation was the next day, and we planned a night out with the graduates. There were two rooms booked for us at The Phoenician. It wasn't my first choice because it's so expensive, but Eric's parents were taking care of the bill for both rooms as a gift for Eric. He actually passed the Bar Exam and had a secured position at the law firm where his dad is partner.

Tanya, on the other hand, was going to work with a firm that did a lot of pro-Bono cases. They dealt mostly with real estate.

Her gift from her parents was a loft apartment in Paradise Valley near the firm she was working for. I assumed Eric would be moving in with her, but even though they spent countless nights together at her apartment in Tempe, they were still holding off on living together. Tanya wanted to be married first before she took that step.

It all came down to a matter of time before they were married, and I was pretty sure she would get pregnant soon after.

My mom was keeping Ben overnight for us. It would be my second time ever being away from him. We were lucky that Ben loves all three of his grandmothers so much. I didn't foresee a problem with him throwing a fit when we dropped him off.

After the graduation ceremony that was being held at the ASU stadium, we were taking a limo ride to our destination for the rest of the night. We were having dinner at The Thirsty Camel by the resort. I've never been nor desired to ever go. Edward was the same way, so tonight we were taking advantage of Eric's gift.

"I want to propose a toast," Edward says as he holds up his dark ale. I was still sipping from the glass of wine that was served with dinner. "This is to my cousin who's been there for me with everything I've ever gone through. You've been my best friend from the moment you could walk. We're only a few years apart in age, but to us, it never mattered. Now, you're finally a college graduate. You're going to be a big time lawyer and work your way up to partner one day." Edward paused for a few seconds to smile at his cousin. "You've even found the love of your life. If she's anything like her best friend, then she's a keeper. Put a ring on that, brother, before someone tries to take her away from you."

Eric chuckled. "Over my head body."

We laughed and raised our glasses higher. "To Eric, whom I wish tons of success in business, and tons of luck with your beautiful woman next to you. May all the dirtbags and douchebags that ever try to cause you problems, go suck a Ferocactus and choke on the spines."

"Here, here!" We all cheered.

Then Eric stood up. He seemed a little nervous about what he was up to. "I have a few things to say before I get drunk and forget about this night." He had been drinking Seven & Seven, and raised it. "Mason, I've looked up to you my whole life. I followed you and begged my mom to let me spend the night with you every chance I got. Even when you changed into a dick teenager, you kept me right where you were. You were my keeper and best friend. Even though I never really followed too much of your advice, but tonight I'm finally going to listen to you." He dropped to his knee right in front of Tanya. Her hand slapped over her mouth. "Tan, the moment you opened your mouth to tell me to fuck off, I knew I loved you and I knew I wanted to spend the rest of my life with you." He reached into his dinner jacket pocket and pulled out a red velvet box. "Tan, you've helped me grow up; you've helped me know exactly where I wanted to be in life. I love you, and I want nothing more than to have you as my wife. Will you marry me?"

Tanya's eyes flooded with tears as she smiled down at Eric. "I hope you asked my dad."

We all laughed. "Baby, that was the first thing I did."

"Good," Tanya said. "Because now your stuck with me, so yes, Eric Yorkie, I'll marry you."

Thank you!
