Cherry Pies and Backwards Baseball Hats

Chapter TWENTY-THREE

EPOV

Bella's Finally Pregnant

I felt tiny little hands smacking at my face and pokey little fingers pulling at my nose. I knew it was Ben and decided to pretend I was still asleep. Each time I twitched or rubbed at my nose, he would giggle and do it all over, again.

Then I started grumbling and making weird noises to make him laugh. He squealed when I grabbed him around the waist and shoved my mouth over his belly to pretend like I was eating him. His giggles were music to my ears.

"You're trying to pull daddy's nose off." I munched at his belly some more before sitting up. That's when I noticed Bella wasn't in bed with us. "Bella," I called out and waited for a minute for her to answer, but she didn't reply. "Mommy!"

"Yes?" She came through the door holding a few folded towels.

"We wanted to know what you were doing." Ben crawled away from me, but I grabbed his foot and pulled him back making him laugh, again.

Bella smiled over her shoulder. "Folding laundry." I heard the linen closet door bang closed a moment later. "You mind getting him dressed? I laid his clothes out on the changing table."

"Sure." I hopped up from the bed and snatched Ben before he tried to climb down. "Come on, bud. Let's go change your clothes."

I put Ben on the floor when we entered his room. The clothes Bella had put out were right where she said they'd be, so I grabbed them before sitting on the floor nabbing a diaper along the way.

Ben had made a beeline for his toy box and started tossing the toys out. "Get over here, little man."

"No!" He refused. "Hip, daddy."

"He's in your bed." I jumped up and grabbed Hip from his bed. "Here." I held him out. "Come get dressed."

As soon as I sat on the floor and Ben saw Hip, he came running at me. "Hip, daddy, Hip."

He let me change his diaper then stood up so I could slip some shorts on then his shirt.

I noticed the shirt was new and had writing on the front. I didn't pay any attention at first because I was used to him wearing shirts that said stuff or had a picture printed on them. Only this one made me do a double take and read it two or three times. "Big Brother."

"Bella?" I called out to my wife.

"Yes?" I jerked around and saw her leaning on the door frame.

"What's this?" I pointed to Ben's shirt. "Is this his shirt?"

My wife smiled at me. "Is there something wrong with it?"

"Well, it says Big Brother." Then I looked closer at the shirt where it had something smaller written below Big Brother. It was a date that was six and a half months away. "Oh my God." I turned to look at her. "You're pregnant?"

She came further into Ben's room. "What else would it mean?"

"You're pregnant!?" I couldn't help the excitement in my tone.

Bella smiled at me and placed her hand on her very flat stomach. "It finally happened." She dropped down on her knees in front of me. "Happy Birthday."

Bella wrapped her arms around my neck. "You're pregnant?"

I was still trying to process it all. "Yes," she replied. "I'm ten weeks along."

My arms had a mind of their own and tightened around her. "You're pregnant." Those were the only words I could speak as I felt the tell-tale sign of tears gathering in the corner of my eyes. "You're pregnant."

Bella moved back to look at me. "This doesn't mean you can stop putting out. I still want sex every chance we get."

Before I could say another word, or utter You're Pregnant, again, I flipped Bella around, so she was laying on her back as I hovered over her. "I have no problem, whatsoever, putting out to my pregnant wife."

Just as I pressed my lips to hers, Ben did a tiny toddler leap onto my back. "Horsey."

He loved it when he could get on my back while I crawled around the house with him calling me Horsey. While I had his mother pinned to the floor, he was ready for play time.

I couldn't keep the smile off my face as I helped Bella up. She stood in front of me as Ben tried to climb on my back. I ceased the moment and wrapped one arm around Bella's waist and placed my head on her stomach. "Do you realize how happy I am, right now?"

I pressed a kiss to where our new baby lay inside her womb. "I'm just as happy," she told me. "As long as my morning sickness wears off, soon."

"Morning sickness this time around?" I smiled up at her. "I guess we're having a girl."

"We'll know in a couple of months." I stood from the floor and slipped Ben over my shoulder. "So, what's the birthday boy want for breakfast?"

I wiggled my eyebrows at her. "What does every 30 year old want from his wife?"

"That's something we'll talk about later," she replied then walked away. "Right now, while I'm not feeling sick to my stomach, I want breakfast."

Bella made a huge variety of breakfast foods along with my favorite. I loved her french toast casserole. She adds small pieces of sausage to it which makes it the best ever. I was surprised Jake and Jose didn't catch a whiff of it, but they really weren't talking to us at the moment. It would pass in due time, but right now, my wife wasn't exactly their favorite person.

I wondered when Jake started to not have so much trust in his best friend. It was a weird situation if you asked me. They were living in the perfect love triangle. It was none of my business, but they were about to bring a baby into the middle of it all. Some people would say Jake had it good. He had a boyfriend and a girlfriend living under the same roof and Sabrina was almost seven months pregnant. At one point, Jake and Jose were going to get married, but that whole situation changed when Jake continued to sleep with Sabrina.

Since Bella made her feelings known about what was going on, they've barely spoken to us. Bella misses her best friend, but also knew she wouldn't go groveling back to him. I told her it was her choice and I wouldn't push her to apologize. It was a screwed up mess anyway.

"When are we telling everyone? Are we going to wait like we did with Ben?" I shoved more food into my mouth.

"We can tell the now, if you want," she suggested as she put a few more pieces of egg on Ben's tray.

I mulled it over for a few seconds. "Let's wait a few more weeks. I just want us to know for a bit. I like how we waited with Ben."

She smiled up at me. "Sure. How about we have a BBQ or something and announce it then?"

"Sounds like a plan." I took a few more bites and imagined Bella's stomach as it grew with Ben. The only different so far, was her morning sickness. I had a good feeling we'd have a girl this time.

Later that evening, my mom showed up with a small cake for me for my birthday. I had already stressed to Bella that I didn't want a party or company. I just wanted it to be us. After she told me about the baby, that was the best gift I could ever ask for. Plus, a party had been the furthest from our minds lately. My uncle called, and so did Eric. That's all that mattered as of late.

My mom stayed for a couple of hours and played with Ben until he was nearly falling asleep. She offered to bathe him and get him ready for bed. She was so good with him, and I knew that the news of the new baby was going to make her extremely happy. I was pretty sure Bella would be okay with sharing our news.

"Tell her," Bella said. "I know you want to."

I gave her a guilty look as we listened to my mom playing with Ben in the bathtub. "Are you sure? Because she can wait like everyone else?"

"Tell her," Bella said smiling. "I think she deserves to be the first to know, don't you? She is your mother, after all."

I nodded. "I do," I agreed. "Let's wait until she gets Ben down."

It was nearly thirty minutes later when my mom finally emerged from Ben's room. "That kid has so much energy."

"Tell me about it," I agreed. "Come sit and visit with us for a bit before you head home."

She took a seat next to me on the love-seat and wrapped her arms around me. "I can't believe my baby is 30 today."

"I don't feel 30."

"How's 30 supposed to feel?" Bella asked.

I shrugged. "I don't know really. Maybe a married man with a year and a half old and one on the way?"

"I think you already have that covered."

I watched my moms facial expression. "I don't know about that. When I was 30..." Her sentence trailed off as she finally realized what I said. "Wait," she said. "Benny is 1 ½ and you..." Her eyes grew wide. "Oh my God!" She looked over at Bella. "Are you pregnant?"

My wife nodded. "10 weeks," she said. "Congratulations. Grand-baby number two is in the making."

Mom jumped up and started clapping. "Oh my God, really?"

I nodded, again. "We just found out. Bella surprised me this morning."

She wrapped her arms around my head and kissed my temple. "This is the best news. I'm so happy for you two." Then she made her way over to Bella. "Are you okay? Have you been to the doctor yet?"

"I'm fine," Bella answered. "I've only been to see Esme to confirm. I haven't made an appointment with my OB yet."

"Does the rest of the family know?" Mom finally sat back down. "Ben's going to love being a big brother."

"You're the first," I tell her. "We were going to wait, but since you came over, I couldn't hold it in."

"We're going to have everyone over in a few weeks to tell them." Bella explained. "And I'm assuming Ben won't know the difference until I start showing."

"I used to dream about having another baby before your dad died," my mom tells us. "I had another boy and you two were best friends."

I gave her a small smile. "That's why Eric was around me so much, huh?"

Mom nodded. "Look at you two, now. You're best friends, aren't you?"

It was my turn to smile. "You know we are. Besides my wife, I couldn't ask for a better best friend."

"I think it's great that he and Tanya married. I have a feeling that those two will start popping babies out real soon. I can't wait until my sister's a grandmother."

Bella's brows rose. "It might be a while for babies for those two. T wants to work a while before kids."

A couple of weeks later we were trying to get stuff ready for our BBQ. Bella felt like complete shit, though. We almost canceled, but she said she'd be okay if she just took it easy.

Her morning sickness was so bad that Esme had to prescribe her an anti-nausea pill. It worked for the most part, but I still felt so bad for her because every time I turned around today, she was running to the bathroom. Thankfully she has an appointment this coming Monday. Her first with her OB.

By 4pm, everyone we invited was all accounted for. Charlie had the food on the grill as Renee, Leah, and the other ladies were getting the rest of the sides together. The more food was passed under Bella's nose, the greener she got. The ginger ale and saltine's she was living on lately, weren't helping. I hoped her OB can give her something that will help.

When I noticed everyone was sitting with their food perched in front of them, I decided it was time to share our news, but just before I got everyone's attention, Jake and Jose arrived. I had called Jake earlier in the day and invited him. I was glad they put their differences aside and decided to come.

"Thanks for coming, guys," I told them. "Grab some food and join us."

I waited while Jake and Jose filled their plates and found a place to sit. That was my cue to make the announcement.

"Hey everyone," I called out. "Bella and I are happy that you all showed up and if you hadn't guessed by now, we have some news to share."

"You've knocked my daughter up, again, haven't you?"

The entire party laughed. "Affirmative Charlie, I sure have. She's about 12 weeks along."

There was lots of cheering and congrats shouted. That's when I noticed Jake get up and make his way over to my wife. I saw her smile and stand up only for Jake to wrap his arms round her and pick her up. A moment later, she was crying and blubbering into his shoulder. I knew they wouldn't stay mad at each other for too long.

I was also surprised that Sabrina didn't come with them. Jake probably realized it was too disrespectful to Bella to bring her. I didn't have an issue with her, but my wife, well, that's a whole different story. I hoped they could work it all out before the new babies are born.

Jose had tears in his eyes, too. "Oh, and Charlie, remember when I told you that your daughter was a little freaky deaky?"

Charlie held his hand up. "Don't remind me."

I chuckled. "Okay, we won't go there, but just so you know." And the look he gave me, was definitely going into the record books.

For another hour or so, everyone laughed and enjoyed themselves. Paul was playing with Ben in the plastic turtle sand box his Nana got him while baby JonJon was being passed around from one lap to the next. He was doing so much better and going longer without having breathing treatments. It was nice to see everyone happy.

"I blame you for this," Bella says to me as she hovers over the toilet to throw up.

"I know," I chuckled. "But it'll all be worth it in the end."

Bella groaned. "You say that because you're not the one pregnant."

"I know," I tell her, again as I place a cool, wet washcloth on the back of her neck. "I'm sorry."

"No more babies after this," she says as she sits up and leans back against the wall by the toilet.

I pouted at her. "But what if we get boys? That will be three boys. Don't you think they would want a baby sister eventually?"

She rolled her eyes at me. "Three kids is enough, Edward."

"How's four? One more after these two then we can be done?" Bella scooted around so she could lay her head in my lap.

We were quite busy just 20 minutes before Bella had to make a mad dash to the toilet and throw up. She'd been bouncing up and down on my dick when she got the sudden urge to vomit. I felt bad for her because she's been continually sick since we found out she's pregnant, and at her first initial appointment when they did a trans-vaginal ultrasound, that's when we found out we had two little beans incubating. They're fraternal and we're actually pretty excited about two. We, of course, just want two healthy babies, so we didn't care what gender they came out to be. The best and hardest part about all the excitement is we're keeping the second baby a secret until D-day.

"I think I just heard Ben." Bella sat up so I could go check on our little man.

"Be right back."

Ben was sitting up in his crib and rubbing his eyes. "Hey, buddy. What's wrong?"

"Daddy pee," he says then points to a wet spot on his sheet.

I reached down to pick him up. "It's okay, bud. We'll get you all cleaned up." He had been wearing pull-ups the last few days and tonight he had a leaking accident.

"Momma seepin'?" I knew he wanted his mother as soon as I picked him up.

Just as I sat him on the floor, Bella came into the room. "What's wrong, bubba?"

"I peed," Ben answered and stood so Bella could pick him up. "Daddy fix it?"

I smiled at how well he was talking. "Daddy will get your bed all fixed up while we go to the bathroom and clean you up."

It only took five or six minutes to get Ben's bedding changed and a fresh, clean blanket. He ended up in the bed with me and Bella, anyway.

When I woke up the next morning there was a tiny leg laying across my neck. Even though we're in a king-sized bed, Ben could take up the whole area. With two on the way, I imagined for five seconds what it was going to be like with three of them in the bed. Five seconds was all I needed for the image.

When I looked over towards my wife, she wasn't there. She probably spent most of her night in the bathroom. I wish there was something I could do to help her. The nausea meds weren't working anymore and eating small meals or snacks helped most days until she would catch a smell that would set her off.

I pushed Ben's leg away from my neck and headed to the bathroom. When I was done, Ben was still passed out as I went in search of Bella. I found her laying on the couch watching TV.

I sat on the floor in front of her. "You okay, baby?"

"I'm so tired. Every time I get to sleep, I have to jump up and run to the bathroom."

I kissed her forehead. "I'm sorry. I'll take care of Ben so you can rest as much as you can." I glanced over my shoulder at the time. "Are you working today?"

"Yeah. I have a full schedule." She looked horrible.

I kissed her, again. "Okay. You just lay here until you have to get ready. I'll get Ben to my aunts."

"He's gonna throw a fit." She moved to sit up. "If I keep laying here, then I won't get up."

"Don't rush around. I'll message Al and let him know I'll be late. He'll be okay with that."

She rubbed her hands over her face. "Twins, who would've thought."

Thank you!
