Preparation for the first match.

Yami woke up early on the "first day" of their free week, he first headed to the cafeteria and ate a nice and notorious breakfast.

Then he went to the football field and he found that he wasn't the first one there.

BAM!

A ball shot through the air with high velocity and went into the top right-hand corner of the net.

Yami looked at the source of the kick to find that it was…Baro?!

The black-haired "King" felt that someone was staring at him so he looked to the source and found Yami looking at him a bit dumbfounded.

"What do you want you peasant?" Baro shouted at Yami belittlingly him.

'He's definitely Baro' Yami snickered to himself.

"What are you laughing at?!" Baro demanded loudly.

'Can you quiet down you're gonna pierce my ear!' Yami winced.

"I'm laughing at nothing now can you lower your voice or else you're gonna make my ears explode." Yami said as he picked up a ball and put it on the penalty spot.

"You what did you say to me?!" Baro said while clenching his hands.

"Are you deaf?" Yami raised his leg and smashed it into the ball.

The net swished as the ball successfully went into the bottom left corner.

"You You!"

"Me?" Yami smiled as he set up another shot.

Baro decided that he had had enough.

After all, he's the "King" How does a "peasant" like that random guy dare treat him so disrespectfully?!

Baro stepped closer to Yami and winded up for a punch.

"Stop right there!" a voice said just as the punch was about to land.

Yami and Baro looked to the source to see it was an orange-haired guy.

'Kunigami!' Yami gaped.

Then he and the rest of team Z walked through the door.

"Yo Kunigami!" Yami waved.

Kunigami nodded at him but his main attention was on the self-proclaimed "King"

"What do you think you're doing trying to punch my friend?" Kunigami said as he stepped closer to Baro.

"Yeah!" the rest of team Z shouted.

"And who are you mister knight in shining armor?" Baro retorted not backing down.

"The name is Kunigami, but you still haven't answered my question."

"I can do whatever I want and no one can do anything about it." Baro said getting even closer to Kunigami.

Everyone tensed and it seemed like it was going to get violent.

"You-" Kunigami started but was cut off by Yami: "Knock it off let's just go to the other side of the field."

Kunigami thought about it, nodded and team Z followed Yami's suggestion.

"Peasants." Baro threw one last jab at them before returning to practice.

Team Z sat down in the penalty area forming a circle.

"So can you explain what happened?" Kunigami said after sitting down.

Yami nodded and told them what happened before they arrived.

"He really got angry and even wanted to hit you from that!" Chigiri said dumbfounded at the hot-headed Baro.

"I know right, what's wrong with that guy?!" Isagi added.

"What's his name anyways?" Kuon asked.

"Baro." Yami said in a menacing voice.

"By the way have you heard the rumor?" Naruhaya asked bringing the attention to himself.

"What rumor?" Isagi shot back.

"That we're gonna have an evaluation test tomorrow!" Naruhaya revealed.

"What?!"

Running Test

"On your marks…Go!" the sweet voice of Anri loudly said.

Team Z started the running test.

It was a 100-meter run.

In the lead, there was Yami and Chigiri.

Yami was barely beating Chigiri, but he knew that Chigiri wasn't running at his full speed because of his fear of getting another injury.

Time:

Yami: 11, 85 seconds.

Chigiri: 12 seconds.

Bachira: 12, 65 seconds.

Kunigami: 13 seconds.

Raichi: 13, 50 seconds.

Kuon: 14 seconds.

Isagi: 14, 34 seconds.

Gagamaru: 15 seconds.

Naruhaya: 15, 3 seconds.

Okuhito: 15, 10 seconds.

Imamura: 15, 20 seconds.

In this test, they were required to have an average running speed of 20km/h and run for as long as they can.

Lunch Time

After the first day of getting whatever you want from the café, everyone was assigned a side dish depending on their rank besides rice and miso soup. (A/N: too lazy to write Cafeteria every time so Cafeteria=Café)

"Natto again?" Imamura said in disgust.

"You got natto? All I got was pickled radish." Isagi said shaking his head.

"Must be nice to have a high-ranking look he gets Gyoza!" Imamura's voice was laced with jealousy. (A/N: I think Gyoza are dumplings filled with a mix of minced pork, mushrooms, and cabbage. Sounds very delicious.)

Gagamaru the one in question savagely ate the dumplings with his hands not using the chopsticks.

Naruhaya run past Gagamaru and stole one of his dumplings immediately eating it.

"Hey give it back."

"Sorry already ate it!"

Sleep time

Isagi couldn't sleep.

Remembering his scores in the test he felt that it wasn't enough.

'I don't have time to rest' He thought.

'At this rate, I'll drop I don't think I can beat anyone here. They're all stronger than me and I'm eating nothing but pickled radish!'

'Plus I don't even know why I kicked the ball at Kira'

"Practice…..practice….practi-ouch!" Isagi screamed as he got hit in the head with a ball.

"Isagi~"

"Wanna train with me one-on-one~" Bachira singed.

"Okay…" Isagi slowly replied it seemed like the hit on the head did some damage.

"I'll be the ref." another voice said.

"Yami?!" Isagi was surprised.

"Yo."

Team Z indoor training field.

"Hey, Bachira can I ask you something first?" Isagi started.

"What?" Bachira said while stretching.

"When we were playing tag you passed the ball to me…..and you said you did it because you knew that I'd hit Kira-kun…..why'd you think that?"

'Here it comes…..' Yami thought in anticipation.

"Hmm…Because…There's a monster inside me."

'Huh?!'

Bachira rushed forward and started "dancing" with Isagi.

"It only comes out and talks when I'm playing soccer."

"Steal that goal…..dribble around that guy…move around more."

'I won't let him get past me!'

"But in that moment…"

Bachira turned around and faced Isagi.

"The monster said to me….' pass to Isagi'."

"'He has a monster inside too.'"

Bachira said as he used his heel to flick the ball over Isagi's head getting past him.

'A monster inside me?' Isagi was confused.

"You can hear it right? The monster's voice."

'What is he talking about?'

'But…..the one who kicked then is a me I don't know…..'

'I…..want to know….the true form of the monster inside me!'

"Messi, Ronaldo and Noel Noa….all those guys have monsters inside their hearts….I bet that's the sign of a striker…that's what I believe."

"One point to Bachira." Yami decided to speak out at that time.

"Wanna go again?"

Isagi sighed his mind was in a mess.

"Yeah…"

"Bring it~"

The two rushed at each other but a loud voice through the speakers stopped them.

"We've finished compiling the data from the tests please return to your rooms. We will present the new rankings."

When the trio returned to their room there were a lot of sounds coming from it.

Isagi looked at his ranking and found that it had gone up from #300 to #274!

Suddenly Ego's face appeared on the TV screen.

"Nice work you unpolished gems are you enjoying life in blue lock?"

Murmurs of displeasure rang out.

"The reason it's shitty here is because you're shitty at soccer you idiots."

"Allow me to explain."

"as I said before there are five wings in blue lock teams B through Z twenty-five in all…..are split into groups of five and are living together…since one person was kicked out of each room in tag there are currently 275 of you in blue lock."

'Damn it so I only went up one rank!'

'That was some short-lived joy!'

"You're split into teams in order of rank. Ranks 1 through 11 are team B, 12 through 22 are team C…so you get it right?"

"your team Z is in the lowest ranked of the five wings…..wing #5…additionally…your team is made of the bottom tier in this wing numbers 265 to 275."

"Seriously?! Don't lump me in with this trash!" Raichi angrily said.

"Look who's talking." Kunigami shot back not missing a beat.

"Those in the upper ranks are enjoying good food and training….and are leading a lifestyle befitting of a top striker….whoever is best at soccer is king here in blue lock."

"Now let's begin blue lock's first selection."
