Chapter 1
Swinging through the city, heading for the bank, Spider-Man did his utmost to pick up his speed.
'C'mon, c'mon. Shocker's not gonna wait around, if I don't catch him before he gets away from the bank there's gonna be a lot of damage, a lot more than what'll happen even there.' He thought to himself.
Regardless he swung quickly around the corner of the building and began heading straight for the bank which he could now see dead ahead of him. Even as he swung closer he saw the explosion that had likely come from Shocker making his exit from the bank. Luckily he had arrived just in time and found Shocker at the base of the steps leading up to the bank, holding a large bag, no doubt full of the cash he had just stolen. Swinging down to, and grabbing hold of, a nearby lamp post, Spider-Man swung around it and landed crouching on it, sideways.
"Hi Shocker, fancy seeing you here." He called out in greeting.
Shocker looked up and his eyes narrowed. "Seriously, you of all people!"
He swiftly raised one arm and launched the powerful shockwave from his gauntlet but, warned by his Spider-Sense, Spider-Man easily dodged although the lamp post was demolished and the building behind it ended up with a crater inside it.
"Oh come on Herman, is that how you treat a friend?" Spider-Man quipped.
Growling, Shocker turned to face him, seeing where he landed. "We are NOT friends."
Carefully flipping over another attack, Spider-Man continued. "What, I thought all that time we spent talking science and stuff was us being friends. Boy did I misread this relationship."
"You talk too much." Shocker grumbled.
With that he launched another attack.
Spider-Man was ready however, he dodged again but cringed at yet more damage being piled up.
"Aren't you getting a little carried away with the shock blasts, Herman." Spider-Man commented. "I mean, you're starting to rack up more damage costs than the amount you've stolen. Speaking of which, really, stealing from a bank, again?"
"I don't care and you know I need the money!" Shocker cried out.
Reacting at once, before Shocker could attack again, Spider-Man quickly launched several quick web blasts, coating Shocker's gauntlets in webs.
"Yeah, you've said that before." Spider-Man remarked as he swung closer and landed on top of another lamp post, this time next to where Shocker stood. "And like I've said before, there are other ways to make money."
Shocker growled. "There is no other way to make the amount I need, you know that!"
With that he nevertheless attacked again, managing to break the webs as he launched another blow which Spider-Man managed to only barely dodged.
"Oh Herman, I'm disappointed." He remarked. "I was giving a chance to cool down."
Shocker growled but then turned away and, using his gauntlets, launched himself up onto a nearby rooftop and from there further away, trying to escape the police cordon and get away.
"Not happening, Herman!" Spider-Man cried out.
He immediately pulled himself up to the top of the building with his webs, avoiding the damage. He then leapt after Shocker and began to swing through the streets after him as he continued his destructive rampage to escape.
At the worst possible time, while swinging after Shocker, Spider-Man heard the sound of his phone.
"Really?" He complained before realising. 'Oh wait, this might be about.'
He realized who was actually contacting him and answered, while still swinging.
"Hi Hopper, what can I do for you?"
With a grunt at his cheerfulness, Jim Hopper replied. "You can put a stop to that maniac before he causes any more damage. Stop him before he hurts someone."
Spider-Man grimaced. "No worries, I'll take care of it, I'll just get him!"
He was forced to dodge, mid-sentence, just as he had said 'get' as Shocker stopped long enough to turn and fire an attack at him.
"Yeah, I've gotta focus here."
"Fine." Hopper grunted. "Just be quick, already clearing things up at the bank, call me when he's subdued and I'll send some officers over."
"You got it." Spider-Man replied as the call ended. 'Alright, Herman. I gave you a chance, this ends now.'
With that he swung somewhat closer, just as Shocker launched himself up again. Spider-Man launched his webs and, catching home, pulled himself right into Shocker, tackling him to the ground and knocking the money bag away from him, webbing it to a nearby wall.
"NO!" Shocker cried.
He used his gauntlets to knock Spider-Man off and leapt up. But Spider-Man was already back on his feet and used his webs as a slingshot to launch himself, feet first, at Shocker, hitting him in the face.
"You brought this on yourself Herman." He called.
With that he acted quickly, once more using the webs to subdue him, this time forcing him to have his arms crossed over his chest, so he couldn't use his gauntlets without hurting himself and then webbing him upside down from the nearby lamp post.
Catching his breath, Spider-Man shrugged.
"Well, sorry it came to this, Shocker. But it's business as usual."
Shocker simply let out an angry incoherent series of noises, struggling.
With a casual laugh, Spider-Man turned. "Don't worry, cops will be here soon, think they'll have your usual cell ready for you too. Take care."
With that he swung away, making a call.
"Yo, chief, got Shocker all webbed up, sending you the location, the money is there too, it's uh...tuck to the wall of a nearby building." He explained.
"Oh terrific." Hopper grumbled. "Well, guess we can wait till it dissolves. Good work, just wish you could've stopped him sooner."
Spider-Man sighed sadly. "So do I."
With that the call ended and Spider-Man swung away until he stopped on a rooftop and began catching his breath again. He had to admit, it was hard to face the damage caused by people like Shocker. Nevertheless, it was over and he was now free to carry on.
'Or not.' He realized. 'Crap, that took longer than I thought, I'm gonna be late for school.'
He immediately took off running and began swinging as quickly as he could, desperate to get to school before it was too late, he was already in trouble for being late twice this week already.
'Please let me make it in time.' He thought desperately.
