Day One

It was morning. The sun is shining, the birds are singing, and the air is fresh. Mark was the first to woke up. He tried to get off the bed, but he felt something holding him. He look down and saw someone hugging him from behind. He also felt something on his back.

Something round.

...

...

...

Oh...

With dread he looked behind him and saw W in his bed. He reacted exactly like how you imagined it.

"AAH!"

*THUD*

"Huh? What?"

"Sus!"

"Don't fall on me!"

The other three woke up from Mark's scream and the sound of him falling off the bed. They all looked towards the source and found Mark on the floor and W on his bed with no-

...

...

..Ohhhh

"Hm? Mark? What are you doing on the floor?" W asked oblivious to the fact she's not wearing... shirt.

"What are YOU doing on my bed?!" Mark is basically a tomato right now as he got up from the ground and not look her in the you know what.

"Your bed is comfier~."

"Then you should've picked this one last night."

"Any bed is comfier with you around~."

"Could you please stop being this clingy! It's-" Mark looked at the clock to tell the time. "6 AM in the morning of our first day!"

"What's wrong with that~?"

"WE BARELY KNOW EACH OTHER!"

"Ok, please calm down people. It's, like you said, 6 AM in the morning. Let's not wake the entire academy up earlier than they used to." Sam tried to calm the situation down while avoiding to look at W's you know what. "On the bright side, we get to be the first to get breakfast."

"Yep. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day after all." Tricia chimed in with a tint of red on her face.

Mark stared at the two, and then sighed. "... Fine." He said as he then goes to the bathroom.

"...You're no fun." W pouted while looking away.

Sam sighed. "I just don't want our first day together to be like this, and I don't want to risk one of our teammate having a breakdown on their first day here." He said as he wiped his eyes to clear his view.

"... I guess that's true." W said as she got off Mark's bed and-

Oh

Oh no

Uh... turns out she's uh...

...

*Cough*

...

"...Excuse me for one sec." Sam then proceed to summon a war hammer and knocked himself out with said war hammer. Tricia on the other hand, just continues to stare with her halo and wings brighten up. Her face is also bright red.

"Like what you see~?" W teased her with a smirk. Tricia then responded with fainting. "Hmph. So innocent." She said as she goes to pick up her clothes.

1 hour later

In the cafeteria, the four of them are having waffles and pancakes for breakfast. Tricia's face is still red, Sam having a noticeable hammer print on his face, Mark's face is neutral, and W just smiled while eating their breakfast. They continued to eat in silence, until team CASE appeared.

"Hey everyone!" Amiya called out. Team SWMP responded to her call in their own way. "Oh! You guys are having pancakes and waffles? Count us in!" She said with excitement.

"Nice! Waffles!" Cassie said with a grinned.

"They have other choices if waffle and pancake is not your preferred food for breakfast." Mark said after chewing and swallowing his food. "Also you should hurry, don't want to be late for our first day right?" He then took another bite.

"I could go for some porridge..." Eri muttered.

"Hmm... hope they can make some omelets." Charlie said as she then notices Sam hammer printed face and Tricia's red face. "Tricia, what happen? And why is there a hammer print on your face?" She asked both Sam and Tricia with a raised eyebrow.

"I knocked my self voluntarily." Sam answered.

"Uh... I don't want to talk about it." Tricia said while looking away.

Charlie immediately narrowed her eyes at Sam. "Sam..." She warned him.

"It's not what you think." Sam said as he quickly finishes his breakfast. "I'm gonna go back first, is that ok? Ok. See you there." He asked as he got up and quickly left the building after he puts his plate in the available bucket for dirty plates.

"Tricia... he didn't do anything, right?" Charlie asked Tricia while keeping an eye on Sam.

"No, it's not him. It's uh..." Tricia glanced towards W, who's eating in peace. W noticed, and wink at her. "It's nothing." Tricia said as she also quickly finishes her food and got out of the building.

"... Well, I'm hungry. So let's go!" Cassie said as she drags her team to the counter. Charlie continues to narrowed her eyes in suspicion.

The morning continues without any sort of trouble, except team RWBY and JNPR almost late for their first day. SWMP, CACE, RWBY, and JNPR are all wearing their uniforms with some slight changes to made it more comfortable for themselves. Now they are currently listening to a man with a mustache, Professor Port's, lessons.

Sam tried his best to stay awake, Tricia drew eyes on her eye lids to make the illusion that she's awake, Mark listen intensely while writing some important part, and W is, surprisingly, listening. Charlie listens, Cassie is sleeping, Amiya tried to stay awake, and Eri stares into the distance, and the others are basically dying of boredom. After what felt like hours, things got a little interesting.

"Now, who can prove themselves to be a true huntsman?" Port said as he made his way to the cage of a boarbatusk(?) that was captured by him.

"I-"

"I do!"

"Excellent, Miss Churchill! Now come down here to show them what it's like!" Port said as he called W down.

"You can do it W!" Sam cheered on.

"Yeah, you can do it Winston!" Mark also cheered with a slight smirk.

"Oh you are so getting it later!" W warned as she made her way to the locker to prepare.

"Heh, I like to see you try Winston!" Mark said as he leaned in.

"I'm confused. What is their relationship?" Yang asked who was sitting behind Sam.

"I have no idea." Sam answered. Blake was minding her own business when a bright light interrupted her. It was Tricia's halo and wings getting brighter.

"Hey!" Blake called out to Tricia. She then hits Tricia with a blank book, which promptly causes her to wake up.

"Apple pie!" Tricia shouted in surprise. She turned around to look at Blake. "What's the big idea?!" She whispered asked in annoyance.

"You were too shiny." Blake said as she go back to mind her own business. "Also could you please get my book back?" She asked.

"Oh. Yeah I tend to do that while sleeping." Tricia calmed down and reaches to the grab the fallen book. "Here you go." She said as she gave Blake her book back.

"Thanks."

"I wonder how her weapon works..." Ruby said while daydreaming W's weapon. Sam's alarm watch went off grabbing everyone's attention.

"Ah almost forgot." Sam then proceed to take out his scroll and headphones. He then spotted W, in her usual attire and baseball bat on her back, and got an idea. "Yo! W! You mind having some tunes while fighting!" Sam shouted, which made caught the attention of almost everyone.

"Sure! I don't mind!" W said as she then turned to look at the professor. "You don't mind, right prof?"

Weiss did mind. "Are you kidding me? Of course he would min-"

Port interrupted Weiss. "I don't mind."

"What?!"

"Music helps us calm down in certain situations. Ho ho! Why, I remember this one time I sang proudly as I stood to protect a village from a horde of Beowolves back in the days!" Port said. "Go ahead young lad!" He gave the ok towards Sam.

"Just pick one that's cool." W said as she got ready.

"Ok!" Sam said as he quickly searched for a good song.

"Released the Grimm!" W said with an excited grin.

"Alright!" Port said as he pulls the lever and a boarbatusk shot out of the cage and aims towards W. As soon the boar grimm came out, Sam found the perfect song.

Play : Undefeatable - Sonic Frontiers OST

The Grimm crashes W and dust flew everywhere. As soon as the dust settled, their eyes went wide. W was just standing there holding the grimm with her left hand with the grimm still spinning. She have a smirk on her face as move forward a few steps. "Perfect pick boss." She said as she then reaches for her bat and knocked it back. The grimm got angrier and charged again with the same tactic. W let it hit her, but this time she wasn't holding the grimm again.

Lots of worried gasp can be heard. All that worry was immediately gone when they saw W managed to tank that attack and didn't flinch once. The grimm change tactic to attack her from all side like a pinball. The audience got scared of getting hit and promptly hid, except her team and CACE. Each hit still didn't flinch her as she just mockingly yawn. This got the grimm REALLY angry, and went in for the killing blow. W noticed this and started to get serious. She transform her bat into its gun form and holds it one handed. The grimm charges one more time and she managed to dodge and stab her gun to its weak point. She then shoots the grenade and the area around her was covered in dust again. Her team and CACE along with Port looked through the dust and found W still standing without a scratch and the grimm dead on the floor.

End song

"I win." W said with a smile as she then got back to back to her uniform.

"That was awesome!" Sam cheered as he put his hands up with his scroll on his right hand.

"There's too much dust!" Mark said as he wiped his face and clothes.

"Too messy." Charlie said as she shook her head to get the dust off her.

"Are you a tank?" Cassie asked.

"Why do I feel like I know her..?" Amiya asked herself.

"Same." Eri said.

The other students got up and saw the mess. Weiss was the first to comment. "That was really dangerous! We could've died because she kept provoking that thing!" She shouted.

"At least we're alive." Sam reasoned.

"That still doesn't excuse the collateral damage!" Weiss shouted again.

"I-! Actually yeah, that might become a problem." Sam admits that her way of fighting is too destructive.

"Hmph. Good." Weiss satisfied that someone agreed with her. The bell rang signifying the end of the lesson. "If you'll excuse me." She said as she got of her desk and went to the door.

"... Huh. For a Schnee I was kind of expecting her to be racist towards you considering that you are uh..." Tricia commented.

"It's fine." Sam waved it off. "I got used to it. Besides, if I really want to improve relations between humans and faunus," He glanced towards Tricia and noticed her halo. "And possibly your kind, I'll just be honest with myself, and not hide like a CERTAIN SOMEONE." He said with emphasis on 'Certain Someone' as he looks at Blake. He looked back to Tricia, and didn't saw Blake hurriedly exits the classroom. "I mean seriously, it's very obvious what kind of book she reads. Just be confident with what you like, no need to hide it behind a math book or something." He said as he looked back to Tricia. He looked back again and saw that Blake went missing. "Huh, where'd she go?"

Tricia was a bit confused about the part when he say 'Possibly Your kind', and narrowed her eyes in suspicion. 'Does he know what I am?' She thought in her head. She shook that mind and got up. "Come on it's lunch time." She said a she went towards the door.

"Ooh! Nice! Me want sandwich!" Sam said as he went towards the door followed by his teammates, W who just got back, and CACE.

At the cafeteria

Both teams CACE and SWMP are now eating lunch, with Sam eating a sandwich as he declared earlier. It was a normal day for friends to gather up and eat together while chatting. Nothing can ruin this moment.

"Heh. Are these even real?"

"S-stop it!"

Except bullying and racism mixed together in the middle of broad daylight for everyone to see. "Really? In front of everybody?" Sam commented as he continue to eat his sandwich.

"How? It's only day one..." Mark asked in confusion with his eyebrow raised.

"Really tempted to shoot that guy..." Tricia said.

"Want me to throw a grenade?" W suggest as she brings out a grenade from her pocket.

"Nah, too quick and painless. Hit him with a frying pan and then put a grenade right under his belt. That should do more damage." Sam said.

"Guys, please stop making plans to kill the guy. He's just a bully." Amiya said. "There are two ways to defeat a bully, one is to befriend them, the other is to beat the shit out of them."

"Wow, didn't know our resident good girl is a foul mouth." Cassie commented with a smile as she eats a burger.

"Heh. You should've seen her when someone called her the D word." Eri said.

"What's the D wor-?" Sam was cut off when suddenly the bully switches target to their table.

"Well, well, what do we have here?" Cardin said as he and his team are observing SWMP and CACE's table. "One scrawny dude, one angel, one cockroach, and 5 freaks. Heh. Didn't know they accept all of you here." The rest of his team laughs.

'Oh great...' Sam thought in his mind.

"Would you kindly leave us alone." Amiya asked them to leave.

"Ho ho! We have someone who thinks she can order US around." Cardin laughed along with his team. W was about to throw the grenade, but Sam stopped her by mouthing 'Down girl'. "Did you really think we're going to simply listen to a freak donkey like you?"

...

"...What did you just say?" Amiya's tone got colder and her aura turned menacing. The others noticed that the room got colder as Amiya rise up from her seat.

"Oh! You think a donkey pipsqueak like you can handle me? Let alone us?" Cardin said not noticing the menacing aura.

Amiya took a deep breath. "Call me that, one more time." Black energy starting to swirl around her fist.

Cardin grinned. "D-" He didn't even get a word out as he was launched outside through a wall. Amiya lower her fist as the black energy dissipates. She then glanced at the other three remaining members.

"Anyone else?" Amiya asked. The other three ran away to get their leader, and Amiya sit back down and continue to finish her lunch. Everyone present are now really scared at Amiya, even that one bully victim from before. All except W and Sam, who continues to eat their food like nothing happened.

After finishing their lunch, all of them got out and was greeted by teams RWBY and JNPR. "Hey guys." Sam called out to them, in which they all respond back. As they walked pass each other, Tricia accidentally tripped and fell down. Sam quickly got down to check on her. "Tricia you ok?" He asked.

"I'm fine." Tricia assured him as she got up and felt there's something on her hand. It was a black ribbon. "What?" she said in confusion as she looked back and saw Blake with her cat ears out.

...

...

Ohhhhhh

"...Wait what?! Blake! You're a faunus?!" Sam shouted grabbing everyone's attention. Everybody's eyes are now on Blake, who's eyes are wide in shock. She then uses the great secret technique that has been taught to almost everyone since the ancient days.

Run away!

"Wait! Blake!" Ruby called out in worry as she then tries to catch up to her.

Weiss, on the other hand, is shocked that her teammates is actually a faunus in secret. "What?! She's a faunus all along!" She exclaimed.

"Well, her bow did twitch from time to time..." Yang said.

Tricia is currently frozen in place and looking really pale while looking at the black ribbon on her hand. Sam pats her back. "Don't worry, once we found her, we can apologize to her later." He then check his scroll to see what time it is. "We should go, our last class for the day is about to start."

Later after lunch time is over, Glynda is now currently looking at the hole in the wall that was caused by Amiya. She sighed in annoyance and fatigue. "I really need a day off." She said as she then fix the wall back to normal.

Later in the afternoon

Sam sighed in relief. "Finally, it's over for the day." Sam said as he lied down on his bed. Team SWMP is now currently in their dorm room after their last lesson for the day.

"Forgetting something?" Mark asked as he sit down on one of the desk with his books.

"Oh right, we should go help them find Blake." Sam said as he got up.

"Yes, also we have homework." Mark said.

"On the first day?!" W was shocked about the homework as she got up from her bed.

"I think the professor meant it as us learning it ourselves, not an actual homework to be graded..." Tricia explained as she remember back.

"Oh thank goodness." W said in relief as she slumped back to her bed.

"Still doing it." Mark said as he took a seat and does the 'homework'.

"Oh well, I guess it's just us then." Sam informed Tricia, as he was about to go to the door, he was stopped by her. "Huh?"

"I should probably the one to go, I did cause the incident after all." Tricia said.

"Nope, I'm team leader, and that means whatever one of you do in the future, I'll be responsible as well." Sam informed them.

"What? No, I can't let you-"

"-Take the blame? Nope, I WILL take the blame."

Tricia seeing as he wasn't taking 'no' for an answer, she gives in. "Fine." She said as they both got out their dorm and leaves W and Mark alone.

As time pass by, Mark already finished about a quarter of all the question available. "Hey, Mark~.' W called him, in which he responded with a sigh and turned around.

"What is it-" He stopped himself as he saw that W is seemingly not wearing anything.

"Want some~?" She teased him.

Mark responded by falling down his chair and knocked himself out.

With Sam and Tricia

"Yo Blake! Where you at?" Sam shouted as he called out for Blake. It was almost night, and curfew was about to start.

"Blake! Please! I'm sorry for revealing who you are! It was an accident!" Tricia shouted as well.

Sam noticed something in the distance. "Hey, isn't that..?" Sam focus his eyes and found Ruby and Yang walking towards them from afar.

"Hey Sam! Tricia!" Ruby said.

"What up?" Yang greeted them.

"Hey guys. Looking for Blake?" Sam asked.

"Yeah, we can't find her anywhere." Yang said as she looked annoyed.

"What are you guys doing?" Ruby asked in curiosity.

"Oh, we're looking for her too actually." Sam answered as he then pointed at Tricia. "It may be an accident but she still feels guilty about the whole thing and want to find her to get her forgiveness. So I, as leader, decided to help her out, and also because I felt guilty for shouting it out loud." Sam rubbed the back of his head.

"Alright then, we can split up to cover more grounds. She can't go that far." Ruby suggested, with the three nodded their heads in agreement. As soon as they're a few feet away, Tricia closes her eyes and focus. Her halo shines brightly in the dark evening.

"Ricerca." Tricia muttered and sensed someone up at a tree near her. That someone is in sadness and fear with a pinch of anger towards Tricia. She slowly approached the tree and found Blake curled to a ball up at the tree branch.

Blake sniffed as she wiped her tears, not noticing the glowing light coming from behind her.

"Hey."

"Ah!"

"Ah!"

Blake was startled that she fell down the tree, along with a startled Tricia who lost her focus due to Blake. Blake stood up from the bush, ready to leave and hide in another spot.

"Wait!" Tricia called for Blake. "Please! I'm sorry!"

"Sorry?! After revealing who I am in front of everyone?! No chance." Blake was about to go, before Tricia hold her hand. "Hey! Let go of me-"

"Calma." Tricia muttered as Blake suddenly calmed down, Tricia's halo also dimmed down. "Just, calm down please. We could... talk about it?" Tricia suggested.

"... Fine." Blake said as the two of them took a seat at a nearby bench, and talk they did.

Blake revealed her past as a White Fang Activist and took part in many protests. One day, White Fang turned into a terrorist group hellbent on making equality through force. Her parents disagreed, and she left her home to go with Adam, someone she admired at the time. When the two of them were on a raiding mission, she made a decision to quit the White Fang and turned over a new leaf. She also said she hide her identity with the help of her black bow Tricia accidentally removed.

"... I'm going to be honest with you, that's a really idiotic decision."

"... Excuse me what?!"

"I mean, if you want to show them who you are, not what you are, it'll only makes thing worse for everyone."

"And how is that possible?"

"Because you're lying to them, and to yourself."

"I-"

"Look." Tricia scooch closer to Blake. "Do you see this halo on my head and the wings on my back?"

"Yes?"

"What do you think they are?"

"Your semblance?"

"Wrong. It's part of me, think of it like an extra appendage like that ears of yours."

Blake blinked in confusion. "What?"

Tricia took a deep breath. "I'm... not from around here. As in not from Remnant."

Blake paused to think for a few seconds and then paled.

"Nononono! I'm not the kind that takes your soul and bring you to either hell or heaven. That's Death's job." Tricia calmed Blake down as quickly as she can to calm her down. "Have I ever told you that I used to stay at home and not go out at all?"

"N-no."

"You want to know why?"

"Because of your..." Blake gestured towards Tricia's wings and halo.

"Correct. When I arrived, no one liked me for who I am. So I just hide inside the house and never come out. But my mother, adopted mother, came to me and told me to be proud of who you are and stay confident. She also told me that no matter how people hated you and call you names, prove them wrong by being nice and help them when they need it. Eventually people accepted me, although some of the kids my age are still hated me because I'm sort of the reason why their favorite teacher left."

"What happened?"

"She died. Because of me."

Silence fell on the two of them. Blake eventually broke that silence. "I-I won't pry."

"Thanks. I haven't got over it."

"I see..." Blake sniffed as tears fell down her face. "Is it really t-that easy?"

"I'll be blunt, no. But I'll assure you that one day, they'll eventually accept you, along with everyone one of your kind." Tricia smiled. Suddenly Blake hugged her and cried on her shoulder. "There, there." Tricia comforted Blake while patting her back.

After a while, Sam and the rest found them with Blake sleeping with a peaceful look. They go their separate ways and rest for the night in their dorms.

Next day

"Hey Blake, feeling better?" Tricia asked her as they walked together to class.

"Yeah, actually." Blake answered. "It's quite refreshing letting them out." Blake's ears twitched.

"It's better to just let it go and be proud of yourself. Look at me." Blake looked at Tricia as they walk. "What do I look like to you?"

"Someone that can make good apple pies."

"Not the point but true, and?"

"Someone confident about herself."

"Correct! Now come on, don't want to get late on our second day." Tricia and Blake made their way to class. From afar Sam looked at them with a smile.

"Heh, didn't know she had the ultimate technique of talk no jutsu." Sam muttered.

"What was that?" Mark asked.

"Nothing."

...

...

"Hm? I thought I felt something."

Anyway thanks for the patience and see you in the next chapter, the Jaundice part of RWBY volume 1.
