Chapter 8
Will was wasting no time as he swung through the streets, heading for the location that was given by the police scanner.
'C'mon, c'mon...I can't let them get away with this!'
He was angrier than usual at this attempted robbery, if only due to the fact it was a F.E.A.S.T. supply truck being attacked. The anger spawned from the work he did as a volunteer at the nearest F.E.A.S.T. Centre that his mother also worked at, being practically second in command. All the hard work the F.E.A.S.T. Centre did helping the homeless of New York depended on those supplies.
Will glared as he swung around the corner, he was almost there. 'I am not going to let these guys steal from those who need those goods more than anything, people who have practically nothing themselves, how can they be so low.'
With a growl he flipped through the air and landed on the ledge of the nearby building, looking down at the stopped F.E.A.S.T. truck, blocked in by two other cars, a group of masked men, all armed, at least two with guns, the others with crowbars or similar blunt objects, all threatening the driver who seemed to have locked himself into the truck to protect himself and the supplies within.
'He's locked in there with the keys, the only way to open up the back and get to the supplies...He's desperate to protect them, I'll make sure his efforts were worth it.' Will told himself.
With that he nodded to himself and soon swung in.
The driver of the truck grimaced as one of the two gun wielding thugs snarled.
"Get outta there, now." He snapped. "Don't make me shoot."
"Not today buddy."
There was a few gasps and shocked shouts, the driver looked up hopefully. Meanwhile the gun toting criminal yelled as his gun was completely coated in webbing and was yanked out of his grip. It was then Spider-Man landed in the midst of the thugs and shook his head.
"Normally I'm a cheerful guy and have some funny quips for any occasion." He remarked, his voice sounding darker than usual. "But you guys don't deserve that, doing something as despicable as this."
"Quit your yapping, spider, get him!" One yelled.
The men all tried to attack him but Spider-Man easily weaved between them and even got two of them to strike each other with their crowbars, before swiftly webbing them to the ground. He then yanked the metal bars out of the hands of two others and throwing them aside. The other gunman took aim at Spider-Man and fired. Spidey easily dodged however and rendered the gun useless, just like the other one.
"Alright, enough playing around." Spider-Man said at last, in that same dark tone.
With that he wasted no time either webbing up or knocking out the thugs until the threat was over.
"Spider-Man." The driver gasped, hesitantly getting out the truck. "You, you saved me."
Spider-Man turned around and relaxed. "Yeah, glad you're alright, well, good luck. Hope you can get these to the shelter soon, I know those poor people will need them."
The man nodded. "Yeah, good looking out, Spidey, police will be here soon. I'll need to talk to them first but should get the supplies in before the day is done."
"Glad to hear it, okay, take care." Spider-Man replied.
With that he swung away, finally feeling calmer.

Back in his civilian clothes and a good deal calmer, Will entered the local F.E.A.S.T. Centre and looked around smiling, it was bustling with activity, new arrivals being helped get settled in by the people at the front desk. He waved hello as he passed with them replying cheerfully. As he entered the main hall he looked around, checking to see if anyone needed anything right away.
"Hey, Will, you made it."
He turned and smiled at Mike who also volunteered at the shelter.
"Hi Mike." He replied. "Yeah, how is everyone?"
Mike nodded. "We're all good here. Mr. Creel is waiting for the truck to arrive, so we may be needed soon."
"Right, of course." Will replied, hiding a knowing smile.
Mike nodded and passed a book to one of the people seated by one of the beds set up with them taking it gratefully.
"Well, I've got things covered here, if you want to go check on the kitchen and see your mom, go for it. Maybe she'll have something for you to do." Mike remarked.
Will smiled. "Well, if you're sure."
Mike confirmed and Will headed through to the kitchen where he saw his mother looking over a few items in the kitchen, likely in the middle of a stock check.
"Hey mom."
She turned to him and smiled widely. "Will, glad you made it."
Will grinned. "Of course, so...anything you need, I can help out."
"Well, there are a few boxes we need to move before the truck gets here." Joyce explained. "Just this way."
Will happily joined her and they soon got to work until finally they were done with that.
They finished just in time as at that moment, a tall man with medium length neatly styled blonde hair, pale skin and blue eyes with a light smile on his face, dressed smartly, approached them.
"Good, glad I caught you two, we just our new supplies in, in fact the driver was almost attacked by some masked gang." His smile widened as he said the next part. "But they made a mistake and he got saved by Spider-Man. So he's got a real story to tell and we can continue helping these people, let's get the stock in."
"Of course Mr. Creel. Come on Will, let's go." Joyce said.
Will agreed happily and Mike joined them as they went to do just that, aided by Mr. Henry Creel, the founder of F.E.A.S.T. himself. It was this pro-active attitude and his strong desire to help as many of the homeless as he could that made Will and Mike admire him and made them all the more eager to volunteer at F.E.A.S.T. and to help people too.
