Chapter Twelve: Future and Research

A few hours and one more painkiller later, Sam and Dean found Reina at the library. The table was strewn with books and papers. Reina and Bobby looked as though they were comparing notes. She was sitting on the floor, leaning against the wall, a paper in her hand, and a pen in the other hand, while Bobby sat on a chair, facing her.

"Uh – what's going on here?" Dean spoke, walking up to them, followed by Sam. Sam went over to the table, looking through the books. "Angel lore – these are all the notes about Angel's grace. Is this about – Lucifer?" Sam held up two journals from the pile on the table.

"Not entirely." Bobby turned to Sam. "Where's Cas?" Dean bent down near Reina, who was looking into her pages. "What's this?" He picked up a page. "Jael has some beef – who's Jael?" Before Dean could read any further, Reina just plucked the page out of his hand. "Cas left to see if there was any news about Lucifer," Reina replied, shuffling the page back into the sheaf in her hand, sitting up straighter, slightly away from Dean.

"Where exactly did he say he was going?" Dean asked, his tone irritated. What was that page anyway? And there she was, plucking things out of his hand. "What have you and the little foo- uh ahhm, what have you guys been doing?" He asked, moving to bring a chair over. Sam looked at Dean for a sec – what was with him?

Sam lowered to the floor near Reina, who was staring at Dean. He swore she looked angry for a second before she moved her gaze away from Dean. "Why are you sitting on the floor?"

"The cold – cold wall feels better against the back." She sat up straighter and then winced. Sam raised his hands to help her, but she waved them away.

"I'll let the kid tell you. This is huge." Bobby gestured towards Reina. "Thanks, Bobby." Reina smiled at Bobby shyly.

"I wrote down all that I could remember, from your story in the show, of what happens after you defeat Amara. She and God, go away once – once she defused you" – she pointed at Dean – "A lot of shit goes down after this – but I'll only tell you about the things that happened here same as the story I know."

"What about the rest?" Dean lounged on his chair; his legs spread long. "What about the differences?"

"I uh – I don't think I should tell you those." Reina avoided meeting Dean's gaze. Instead, she looked at Sam as she spoke. "The differences are not relevant – a whole character" She put her hands to her lips. "I'm sorry. The differences are because of a different person, and since that's not happening here, it is just not useful information for you. Plus, it would just mess with your head. Nothing big, really, but –

Look, just focus on what you do need to know, first of which is Lucifer. He's a big pain in the ass, and he needs to either go back into the cage – or be killed.

Lucifer will come back – Once you guys fight him, he's going to jump vessels, and – long story short, he ends up in Mr. Jefferson Rooney."

"The – The President?" Sam gasps. "Yup. And worse. He manages to have an affair with a human woman called Kelly Kline. And she ends up – Pregnant."

"Wow."

"The kid is awesome and powerful – and it so adorable, really – but uh – it would be better if we did not let it be born. Because powerful Nephilim are always dangerous – Heaven is against Nephilim, Demons will want it for hell, everyone in between for themselves, and the power – can cause a hell lot of problems as it can solve. And the men of letters are not exactly going to be friendly about it."

"So, what should we do?" Sam leaned forward.

"The first thing is to make sure Lucifer does not come back as Vince. Even if he does, we have to stop him from jumping the vessel. That opportunity we have to take to imprison him. Angel cuffs won't work, he's an archangel. But assuming we catch him, we have to make sure we can kill him."

"How do we kill an Archangel?" Dean looked at Sam, reminding Reina of many times she had seen Dean look at Sam for facts. "Um… the only archangels we know who died are Raphael and Gabriel. Lucifer killed Gabriel with an archangel blade, and Cas killed Raphael with the power of souls and heaven's weapons."

"And we don't have either of those." Dean brought up the crux of the problem. "We had souls – if we could make another bomb, like-

"No." Reina's voice rang firm; everyone stared at her. "No?"

"No, we can't do that. A, I don't think anyone has enough souls – you raided every possible place – even purgatory is empty, relatively, I think. B. that's a suicide plan. We are not going to do any more suicide plans." She spoke decisively. "Excuse me, We?" Dean arched his eyebrows.

For a moment, Reina stared at Dean, half-defiant, half-something Sam could only guess was liking. "Yes, we. I know I'm not a hunter. But I am going to help make this plan. I can't L– can't let Lucifer make trouble anymore." Sam sensed she was going to say something else – but decided to let it go for now. "Alright, so we don't have souls or heaven's weapons, the other option is the archangel sword. How do we get one?" Sam interrupted, to take the discussion ahead.

"Can we ask the angels? They might have Raphael's or Michael's sword – off chance." Bobby suggested. "I know they're asses, but they might want to help get rid of Lucifer."

"I'll talk to Cas, see if he knows anything. Hell, even Crowley might." Dean took his phone out to dial. "Crowley?" Reina spoke, almost to herself; Sam watched as she shuffled through the pages on the floor, searching.

"What are you looking for?"

"The Colt." She answered, still checking page after page. "The Colt? You know where it is?"

"Yeah. Crowley. He gave it to – argh what's his name – some Prince of Hell." She looked at Sam. "But the Colt can't kill Lucifer."

"Yeah – but – Ah!" She pulled out a page. "Finally. Just wanted to make sure. Ramiel. That's him. The prince of hell, who has the colt AND the lance of Michael. And Lance of Michael may work against Lucifer. It's a thin chance, I know, but we have to ask Crowley." She looked at Sam, talking so passionately, it took him by surprise.

"And what if it doesn't work?" Bobby joined them. "I know we talked about the necessity to kill Lucifer, but we got to keep other options open."

"Rowena." Sam and Reina spoke at once, looked at each other, and broke into a short smile. "Rowena. She's agreed to help, hasn't she?" Reina asked, "We can try to slam Lucifer back into the cage. All we need to do is open it, and push him in."

"How are we supposed to catch him, in the first place?" Dean joined the conversation. Sam raised his eyebrows, in a questioning manner, "Cas doesn't know where any archangel blades could be – He agreed to ask Crowley once he sees him. Him and Crowley together. It's like a bad joke, literally."

"An Angel and a Demon, walk into a case," Reina spoke, almost involuntarily, as she smiled up at Dean. He blinked. "Yeah, something like that."
