When I got through the last 'tunnel' meant to lead into the containment area of Dracula's Sword, I could tell this was not going to be too easy for me.
I felt my capacity to use the time-stop no longer within reach. That should be trouble by all means, but instead of this being the result of some absurd barrier that fucked with Sacred Gears, it was actually something else entirely. I could feel the sword nearby, and it was boosting my vampiric nature. So, the Sacred Gear was 'difficult to use', because my body was too high on vampiric bullshittery.
Not a good way to start the last lap for glory, but I wasn't without some preparations for this potential issue. I had expected something causing me to slow down and take this without the time-stop, so I had a few seals meant to turn me invisible and nullify my smell. The only gripe was the chance of causing any noise which could attract any attention.
The small settlement was not as primitive as the rest. I don't know if it was because of the relative closeness to Budapest, or the chance of the funds that were left by the Religious Order's previous stay had been turned into good investments in the world of business and modernity- what I knew is that the large castle-town that had been hidden away through a few old-looking runes was not lacking in some CCTV system that I proceeded to carefully dodge. I just had a feeling they could use even the slight 'disturbance' caused by my invisibility spell to cause me any trouble in the near future.
All in all, this place looked to be a fairly isolated but well-organized town for werevolves. Kids were playing around the small park area, people chatted around and behaved like normal humans and... I found a way into what I was looking for. At first glance, one may think the sword was somewhere within the large mayoral building in the middle of the settlement- but I could sense it was somewhere... down under.
Maybe the official way in was within the 'town hall', or maybe there was another place I couldn't see or knew about. What I knew back then was that I had to get in through the good ol' ways- through the sewers, smacking through some walls. In the current state I was in, I could literally smack walls left and right if I wanted, so I decided to give it a nice test and... yep, decimated a good portion of the walls around by the sewers' area I entered through first.
Quite odd how the blade made my body react as I could tell there was more to it. I could tell the 'Shadow Man' in me wanted to tear everything apart in a wild rage but that's what meditation is for. And seals- Mostly seals, actually. I admit that I am no Chinese Martial Artist and my meditation skills are shitty at best, so it was mostly seals keeping the 'Beast' at bay.
My descent into the lower grounds was a silent but tense affair. Not too slow, but I sure felt the difference of wandering around within a dangerous place without the time stop. Here I thought I would have just waltzed in, yoinked the thing and got back home to cement my rulership over the Tepes Faction but... Well, fate had other things in mind.
After cracking a few more walls, I got to what I was looking for. An empty void that gave off the impression of being the Underworld's asshole to the mortal realm and a large cage kept 'afloat' through a lone chain connecting it to the ceiling. It was really hanging just there, chilling.
...
There was a platform I could walk on, but the distance from the cage was considerable. Lucky for me, I was no meek human. I felt magic burning within as I manifested two batty wings and rushed up to the cage, ignoring the tiny creak of a door opening, reaching the cage, breaking the bars and... finding an odd sight.
It was the sword I was looking for, a curved blade that was a rather dangerous blade even for the user. Its dull sides were purposely magicked to have blood-drains that sucked blood from anything that got hit by it, thus bringing the blood to the user and, if they were not vampires... that could be deadly.
Really deadly.
Instead of just using it, I walked up to it, blinking on the state of it as it had been stabbed onto the skull of a guy with fangs.
Is that Dracula? Oh geeze, I am a big fan, sir. Loved the 'stache and the impalations!
Still, I couldn't be bothered by lingering for long. Right as I removed the sword, I heard a chain break- not by the weight, but by something breaking it from afar. Reacting by instinct, I jumped back where I came from and... I saw something dark, menacing and with blood-red eyes jumping towards me.
"Peekaboo!"
A hellhound! I never expected to ever find one due to how rare this version of those were. Her skin was a dark gray, her fur by the hands and feet was pitch black. Red slitted eyes with black sclera, and... tits, ass and abs. Hot damn! She was wearing a tube top and some tight shorts.
"Oh my... you are so gorgeous!"
Her giddy grin faltered a bit due to a brief bout of embarrassment as we both landed on the platform.
Shaking her head, the wolf-girl got back in control. "So, little kid, what do you think of doing with that sword? It's not yours."
"Technically yes, it is mine, miss," I replied in proper Hungarian, surprising the Hell Pup. "I am going to be the leader of the Tepes Faction, this sword is meant to be mine."
"Well, lil' punk, that blade is nasty and it's best for it to stay there. I will let you go back home with your pretty butt kicked up just a bit if you let go of it," The girl remarked and I hummed calmly.
"Miss, but that would mean disappointing my girlfriend. I can't exactly do that, or I would die of shame," I said, smiling a bit. "Speaking of shame, what's your name, show n' tell?"
Her mouth opened, but a powerful blush surprised her as much as the nickname had.
"I- you ch-cheeky vamp. I am Veres, the Guardian of the Blood Sword. And flattery will hardly get anywhere?"
I slowly nodded. "I see, Veres. Well, I am Lord Gasper Vladi of the Vladi Clan. I am to be married with Princess Valerie Tepes and you..."
I paused, frowning a bit.
Her eyes narrowed at the pause.
"'You' what, boy? I hope this isn't some new round of cheekiness or-"
"Do you live... here?" I interjected with a reasonable question. "I mean, there's no security cameras around and I would have perceived similar devices. Were you just beyond 'that' door?"
My questioning drew a tense look from the Hellhound as she turned to where I was pointing at.
"That's... where I live- yes!" She half-snapped at the end. "What about?"
"...Veres, do they mistreat you?"
...
...
"Y-you! You think that I will just let you talk over me! I am Veres, I am the Guardian and I-"
"Are you even allowed to wander around out to the city up above?" I interrupted again. "I am not trying to cause any distraction, I just would like to understand since I was told that you were meant to be revered or something like that."
Veres paused, then frowned at me as she expected to see this as a lie but..
"Who told you that?"
"My informant for this place. A blacksmith that had some background check on the place and told me that your family has been guarding this place, thus worshiped as something divine."
...
"Then they lied to you. I am not a divine beast, I am a... A fucking guard dog! A glorified mutt that got the short end of the stick and got turned into this- some sort of pet to leave to guard that fancy sword."
"Oh-"
"And I can't even wander around unless it's night! As if I am some sort of vampire or something-" She paused, looking a bit apologetic. "Sorry."
"Heh, it's alright. I am a Dhampir so I can walk during the day."
"Neat- still, I am- this is fucking stupid!"
She growled angrily at herself stomping on the ground and leaving some marks with each strike.
"..." I walked up to her and she turned to stare at me right as I was close enough. "Wanna work for me?"
...
"What?"
"Wanna work for me?" I asked again, sounding truthful about it. "Like, you know, as a paid worker that can work as my agent or something but you have the freedom to do things on your own."
"...What?"
I sighed. "I am asking you if you want those shackles they put on you broken, Veres."
"Why would you want to do that?"
"Because I am not the bad guy," I replied flatly, shrugging a bit. "I am not on the path of domming the world. I am just a guy, who is a bit of a pervert, that wants to get in charge of the vampires and fix things there. My future dad-in-law asked me to pick this sword to be stored away."
"Stored... away...? Why would a vampire want it to be stored away?"
"I kind of have a couple of Excaliburs back home," I replied without skipping a beat, causing her eyes to widen up at my brag. "Yeah, I am not trying to brag about it, but I personally don't need 'this'."
"Oh, that's..."
Silence resumed for a while and she gave me a long look. "Why would you want to hire me? Why not just let me be?"
"I said I was a bit of a pervert," I pointed out, grinning a bit. "I find you cute and hot."
Her cheeks flared again at the bold compliment and she... snorted. "So, you would want me to be your pet or something?"
"I mean, I have a witch that is seen as that, but she has a lot of autonomy. She was just... how do I put it, hellbent on helping someone trying to conquer the world, so I had to use a bit of magic to refrain her from being a fuck-up and a half."
"Are you going to use magic on me?"
"You into that shit?" I asked back, and she scoffed.
"N-No. I mean, I don't know how it works in bed but..." Veres huffed. "Look, what do you want from me?"
"You work for me as an agent. It can either be a brief guarding job or you get sent around the world to beat the crap out of people in the best of occasions," I summarized the work offer. "Sex is... I would be fine with it after marriage. I can still play with you- but only if you want that. I can tell you wouldn't say no if I treated you somewhat nice."
The hellhound looked a bit conflicted by this and then-
"H-Halt!"
A loud voice called and I saw guards aiming rifles at us. Werewolf guards at that. That's a lot of guns for a little mutt brigade.
"You- Drop that blade! You will be arrested and taken to trial for this slight, vampire."
"Racist," I returned flatly. "Also, what happens to Veres. Does she gets a medal or more rights now she got me?"
The girl looked surprised at the question, confused on why I would bring that up and-
"What? No. Why would she deserve any reward for being a worthless guard?"
I turned back to Veres and she... huffed, aware of her current predicament.
"I accept."
"What?!" The chief guard exclaimed, but I was one step ahead. I had sealed the sword during our chit-chat, and I had a finger stretching to Veres' nose. "Open-"
"Boop!"
"FIRE!"
Bullets went flying, but we were gone in that blink of a second. The other werewolves were shocked at what had just happened. Not only did I took the sword with me, but I also claimed their sweet Hellhound as my newest pet. She wasn't like Burga, yes, but she sounded to be a pretty tsundere nonetheless.
Oh boy, this was a fun stroll~!
AN
Ah yes, double win! The Rizz on this DIO-esque trap is terrifying!
