Today's a great day isn't it? I turned 19, posted a chapter within a week, and it's Christmas.
Over a week ago.
"Hey Drew, welcome back. Have you captured any more pirates for us, or are you just here to say hello?" A woman asked.
"Hey Shoko, I actually got two for you. Willy and Kitajima of the Willy pirates." From out of thin air the unconscious duo appeared still wrapped in black chains. "Each worth 25 million, and yes they're alive."
"That's amazing Drew!" The woman praised. "I'm sorry but we don't have the necessary funds to compensate you, please wait here I'll call in the higher ups."
Drew shook his head. "Don't worry about it, I'm actually here to give you 50 million. That mystery devil fruit, I'd like to buy it off you."
"But it's a hundred million." Shoko reminded him.
"With Kitajima and Willy I already have half paid." He handed her a case. "This should cover the rest." He smiled. "It may be more than it's worth."
Shoko handed him a box. "I just wish I was able to identify the devil fruit, I'd never eat it myself. For all I know it may be worth billions. What are you gonna do with it?"
"I already ate a devil fruit." He lied. "Maybe I could find myself a follower or something."
Shoko giggled. "Let me know when you find out what the devil fruit does. I'd like to know if it was useful or not."
'She laughed, this is my chance.' Drew thought. "When are you off work? How about going out for lunch?" Drew asked.
"Sorry, but I have work that needs to be done here. Maybe next time." She apologized awkwardly.
"Of course." Drew laughed. "I'll see you around." As he exited the marine base, Drew sighed heavily. "Rejected again, no idea why I even try." Wings sprouted from his back as he took flight, deciding on getting lunch for himself.
As he flew over to the baratie for his daily meal he noticed a man yelling out for help from on top of some small rocks that rose from the ocean. As he landed he instantly knew who these two were. "His condition looks bad. What happened to the idiot following the strawhats?"
"Please help him!" The man begged. "We've been partners for years now, he can't die yet."
Drew moved him to the side and walked up to the sick man and let his Chains wrap around the body. "There's nothing I can do to save him, his condition is severe. He'll die within the minute." Drew ducked his head in apology as the sick man disappeared from sight. "Johnny right? I'm a bounty hunter like you, your partner is dead. How would you like to join me?"
"You can't be serious!" Johnny shouted. "Whether or not he's dead means nothing, if his bounty hunter days are over, so are mine!"
Drew offered him a meal before picking him up and flying them over to the Baratie. As they ate Drew learned more about the guy than the show had to offer. He dreamed of being a fisherman like his father but one day his father died. In order to make ends meet, Johnny trained and became a bounty hunter. By the time his family was out of debt, he had already grown accustomed to the lifestyle.
"If Yosaku is dead, I might as well live my dream." Johnny told him.
Drew nodded. "Alright, I understand though I'd like to make one more offer." Drew withdrew a box from his inventory and pushed it up to Johnny. "I'll give you this devil fruit, with it you'll grow much stronger. In exchange all you have to do is join me for my next target. I can't handle him alone, I'd like to keep the deaths to a minimum."
Johnny opened the box to see a black fruit with a hard exterior, it had a shell like appearance and the stem looked like a snake. These fruits were said to be magical, he couldn't miss this opportunity. An opportunity to be a fishman and more. Johnny grabbed the fruit and took a bite into it, recoiling from the taste. He smiled at Drew. "One more mission, one more mission and I'm done for good."
Drew held out his hand for Johnny to shake as the two finished their meals. Drew was ecstatic, with the right guidance and a little bit of luck he'll get a really strong partner. One he knew he could trust.
The next day the two bounty hunters awoke from their nap. "Johnny, we gotta get going."
"Who's our target?" Johnny asked.
"There's a local king that's terrorizing his people. We have to get past his guards as well as save the people. We even get whatever is in his vault as payment. Are you ready to go?" Drew asked.
Johnny nodded. "Let's go." That's when a problem arose. "How are we gonna get to this island? We don't have a ship?"
"I'm not carrying you again." Drew said deadpan.
"Maybe I can do something with this devil fruit, how do I use it?" Johnny asked.
"Shit I don't know, just think of something happening." Drew offered.
Johnny nodded and closed his eyes to think, a moment later his body shifted and shrunk as he became a small black tortoise. The form of the tortoise was suspended in the air meaning it had the ability to fly.
Drew immediately began laughing. "You're a fucking turtle! Of all the powers you're a flying turtle!"
Johnny's face turned slightly red. "Shut up! We have a form of transportation now, let's go!" He yelled as he flew off.
Drew's laughter died down as he took flight, leaving behind a few black feathers. "From the information I have, that bastard king of ours should be on that island down there. He's really strong by east blue standards, had he been a pirate he could've even beaten Arlong." Drew told him.
"So what's the plan?" Johnny asked, causing Drew to erupt into laughter.
"A fucking turtle!" He roared.
As the two landed on the island an alarm could be heard. Drew and Johnny immediately retreated into some nearby bushes and hid as a group of soldiers ran past.
"Damn, they already noticed that we're here. Looks like my plan is out the window." Drew sighed.
"You got a Plan B?" Johnny asked.
"Only for bedroom activities."
"The hell does that mean?"
"Doesn't matter, let's just wing it." Drew decided.
As another random soldier ran past, chains exploded from Drew's fingertips as he dragged him into the bushes. "Tell me what's going on here or expect to be another name on the list!" Drew threatened.
The man looked terrified. It was clear that these soldiers didn't get much training. "We're a part of the king's army." He trembled. "He forces all men over the age of 16 to enlist, our women are sent to his palace and he takes his pick of them. If anyone disobeys, it's our job that they're beheaded. When someone of unknown origin lands on the island the alarm sounds and we're all told to meet up at the King's mansion! I swear that's all I know."
Drew looked deep into the soldier's eyes. "He seems to be telling the truth."
Johnny's form shifted as he finally managed to return to his human shape. "So what are we gonna do?"
Drew looked back to the soldier. "I need you to infiltrate the army, bring me some more people. I need to know exactly what's going on here. If you can do that, then I promise you that your family will be saved."
"Yes sir! I'll do as you command." The soldier said as he ran off to rejoin the group of soldiers.
The alarms were still blaring, they needed to find a safe place to operate from.
The two took flight and scouted out the area when they came to an abandoned building at the edge of town. The windows were broken and the metal door was starting to rust.
As Drew opened the door a few men turned their heads to look at him. "Who the hell are you guys!" The group shouted as they pulled out some rusty knives.
Johnny drew his sword, ready for any sign of confrontation to occur. "Wait!" Drew commanded. "We're not here to fight, we're here to get rid of that king of yours."
"You're going to fight the sky king?" One man said in surprise.
"Who the hell is that?" Johnny asked in confusion.
The group looked at Johnny, realization slowly taking over their features. "You two aren't from this island are you? How'd you get so far inland? With the alarms that went off earlier, they should've caught you by now. They've been searching for hours, it's likely that whatever ship you came on is gone now."
"We have no need for a ship, this place isn't too far from our island. Though I think it's time you explained who this Sky king is." Drew's chains circled around the men in a threatening fashion.
"Sky king is a man with strength equal to that of even the strongest of pirates. He has a 40 million beri bounty and can even walk on air." The man told him.
Drew's grin widened. "He has a bounty? This day just keeps getting better." He stared at the man who squirmed under his glare, he knew the man was hiding something but he chose to let it go. "Alright then that's the person I need to defeat." Drew thought about what he could do with the extra money, maybe he could finally head to the grandline. The only reason he stayed here was to try and get his date with Shoko, turns out that wasn't happening.
For the next few minutes, Drew was talking to the soldiers trying to figure out what exactly the Sky king's abilities were. He found out a good majority of the army hated the dude but couldn't contest him, as long as he took care of the king, the island would return to peace, he had already sent out a recruitment order to those that disliked him.
Drew looked out over the massive group of soldiers and smiled. "We will take out that pesky king of yours! All we need from you, is to make sure he didn't see it coming!"
"To war!" The soldiers yelled as they began advancing on the castle, the battle had officially begun.
The first objective was for the soldiers to cut off reinforcements by destroying the bridges that led to the other islands. The castle was on a small island at the center of the archipelago.
"Ghin!" Drew called as the soldiers darted off. "I need you to head in the direction of the communication tower and destroy it. We can't have anyone knowing what's going on before I make it to that island."
Johnny nodded. "I'll get it done, I just hope they aren't too powerful. To be fair I'm not very strong."

"I'll try my best." Johnny told him as he transformed and flew off.
"A flying turtle." Drew chuckled again. He'd never get over that, at least it was useful. A hundred million well spent.
Johnny looked at the guard on the bridge leading to communications and wondered whether or not he'd notice a flying turtle. "I better take him out just in case." He landed on the bridge in front of the man who stared at him in confusion.
"Is that a flying turtle?" The man roared with laughter. "I've seen some strange animals but a flying turtle has got to be the strangest."
Johnny growled as he reverted to his human form. "Stop saying that, I'm not even a turtle! I'm a tortoise, they're two different things." Johnny told him.
"Turtle, Tortoise same thing. Now how about you leave before you end up dead, I don't have time to play with animals." The guard snickered.
"I've been in need of some stress relief." Johnny said.
The guard drew two pistols and began firing them rapidly. "Bullet rain!"
Johnny shrieked as the bullet closed in on him, he shrunk and flew out of the way before transforming back and slashing out with a black crystal blade. Which confused him considering that he didn't remember picking up the sword.
"Oh!" The guard said in response to the near slash on his cheek. "Color me surprised, it seems turtle boy does have some skill after all, no matter I'll end you quick enough. My name is Mick, tell the others in hell how badly I beat your ass." The guard swung aiming to pistol whip Johnny.
"You're getting a bit cocky for a good for nothing guard." Johnny dodged to the left before punching the man in the chest, the black crystalline metal forming into a gauntlet. "Okay, I'm sure that wasn't there before."
Mick jumped back as he glared at Johnny. "You're going to DIE today!" Mick yelled as he caressed his chest.
Johnny snarled at the older man. "Big bro Zoro would be disappointed if I lost to a weakling like you."
The talking stopped there, Mick shot two bullets before rushing in with a left hook. Johnny ducked underneath the blow but was caught by a devastating uppercut to the chin that sent him flying back.
Not one to taunt a downed opponent Mick fired a couple more rounds at Johnny but was surprised to see a strange form of crystal, metal, or both block the bullets.
Johnny jumped back up and grabbed onto the hard material as it formed into a sword. Mick, still confused, paused in his assault which granted Johnny an opening. "Tortoise cleaver!" He yelled as he cleaved through Mick's body. "I'm a Tortoise, not a turtle, remember that."
Johnny took out a mini transponder snail before calling Drew. "Hey big bro Drew, I made it to the communications building. I'll let you know when it's disabled."
"Good work." Drew praised.
Inside the building. Johnny was flying around in his small tortoise form, a creature not even the size of a hand. 'Here it is.' He thought. He flew through one of the vents making it inside and dropping down into the room, knocking out the man that was in the middle of a call. "I wonder, what's the best way to shut it down? Fuck it I'll just destroy the place." With a slash from the crystal blade the room went dark.
Once he made it outside he called Drew once more informing him of his success.
Back with Drew.
"Alright I'm storming the castle now, we finished all of those weak soldiers, most of them barely have any training. I'll go ahead and take care of the boss battle." Though Drew replied with confidence he was a bit nervous about the fight to come.
"Hello I've been expecting you." The sky king said with a devilish grin, flames rising up from the floor. He wore an all black suit with white shoes and his hair was sky blue.

"I'm surprised, I thought everyone on this island was a weakling, well I guess I'm not completely wrong, you may be pretty strong by east blue standards but if I wanna make it in the grand line then beating you is the least I could do." Drew continued. "I'll give you one chance to leave the island safely."
Sky king looked at him and laughed. "What could you possibly do against me?" He asked as he rushed in to deliver the first blow at blinding speeds. Drew clashed with the man as the two jumped back, signaling the start of the battle.
"Sky overhead!" The man shouted as he delivered a dangerous kick that would've made even Sanji proud. Drew smirked as he dodged to the left and closed the gap with a kick of his own hoping to hit the man while he was still in the air.
Sky king immediately pushed off the air dodging the kick with a laugh. "You're never going to hit me like that!"
"Wings of the reaper!" Drew smiled. "You're the sky king right? Let's take this fight to the sky."
Sky king jumped up. "It's your funeral."
Drew ascended higher and higher into the air with Sky king close behind. Abruptly he stopped and turned around. "Back down you go!" He yelled as he dropped on top of Sky king and threw him towards the ground.
Before crashing into the floor Sky king jumped off the air rocketing out of the way of the kick coming in from Drew.
"Sky slash!" He yelled, taking out one of Drew's wings.
'15 damage taken! Bleed has been activated, you will lose 1% of your health per second.'
"You bitch, I loved those wings! Now I gotta dispel the technique!" Drew yelled. Sky king tried to climb further into the air but suddenly his leg was grabbed by a black chain. "Get over here!" Drew cheered inwardly. 'Always wanted a reason to say that.' When the Sky king was in range, Drew sent out a powerful elbow taking the sky king's leg out of commission.
"If what I heard about that technique is true, then you won't have enough power in your legs to jump."
"You… you BASTARD! I was holding back before but now I'm going to go all out!" Sky king yelled as he activated his fruit to the maximum, his face red from his anger. In an instant he stood in front of Drew. "Sky swipe!" He swiped Drew's legs from under him causing the bounty hunter to fall on his back. "Sky stomp!" He roared with laughter as Drew rolled out of the way. "You're not getting away that easily! Sky slash!"
The attack took away Drew's arm. "Damn, my arm! Can you stop doing that?!"

"Time for the climax of this battle!" He dashed forward with a kick, sending Drew flying outside of the castle. As Drew rolled across the ground he noticed an army of soldiers standing over him. It seemed that reinforcements had arrived, he could see Johnny trying his best, fighting with a swarm of black crystals at his side.
Johnny glanced at him. "Sorry big bro Drew, I don't think this is a fight I can win. I'll try to keep a few of them off you, I trust that you can handle this."
Drew began to laugh. "I haven't had this much fun in awhile! I knew coming to this world was the right choice!" As his laughs grew more and more demented he exploded in a burst of speed taking out as many soldiers as he could. "The sacrifice has been paid."
'Gained 1000 exp! Exp till next level: 1850.'
'You have reached 100 eliminations, skill obtained.'
Hell's reaping(For each kill your health is instantly recovered.)
"Surrounded by weak enemies." Drew's grin grew wild. "The Reaper will be pleased!" Drew grabbed one of the loyal soldiers of the king and snapped his neck immediately regenerating Drew's arm.
"Kill him!" Sky king ordered his soldiers.
All of the surrounding soldiers left Johnny and rushed in at Drew. Drew was quickly overwhelmed by the wave composed of hundreds of soldiers. "I will not be defeated!" Drew yelled. "Not yet." Drew was jumping in and out of death being on the brink just to be healed by another kill. Black chains began to snake out around the group.
The chains created a huge dome, covering Drew and the huge group of soldiers. He began to slowly close the chains as he kept fighting. Within a couple of minutes all the soldiers were dead. He released his chains and fell to the floor.
"Look at you, beaten and bloodied on the floor. It's sad really, but after I kill you I'll be known as the man who defeated death itself." He jumped into the sky and rocketed down. "Sky execution!"
Drew tried to move but he simply couldn't, his body was done. The only downside of Gamer's mind was the inability to feel pain. For the first time since he came to this world, Drew died.
24 hours in the past.
"DAMN IT!" Drew yelled angrily as he came to his senses. "How the hell did I lose?" In front of his eyes 4 cards shown on a screen.
[You have been defeated! You may take a skill from the warrior that killed you, please make your decision.]
Drew sighed. The card he drew had been overclock, with the card chosen he felt immense pain, something he had forgotten about since his arrival, he was shown the King's worst point in life. "Damn! I knew there was a penalty, but how the hell did they manage to torture a king?"
"Drew… Drew!!" A voice yelled in annoyance. Drew looked up to see Shoko. "I said welcome back! Have you caught any more pirates for us or are you just here to say hello?"
"Hey Shoko, I was just daydreaming." From there Drew lived his afternoon exactly like he had done before. He got rejected, again. He even tried a different approach but no dice. What changed was his meeting with Johnny. He had been able to arrive a bit earlier than before.
"Please help him!" The man begged. Drew picked the two up and dragged them over to the Baratie where Yosaku was able to get some treatment.
He proposed the same deal to Johnny, this time as a way to pass the time while Yosaku was being treated. After a good night's rest the two woke up bright and early and made their way to the island that held their target. Instead of landing on the island they stood perched on top of the beautiful castle, looking down waiting for the right moment.
After a couple hours the Sky King stepped out of his castle to look at the sky. "It's time." Drew said as the two dropped down aiming for a stealth kill. Sky king sensed the attack, grabbing Drew and throwing him away.
"Who the hell do you think you are?!" He asked. "Attempted assassination of the king is treason. I could execute you for that!"
Drew laughed. "A weakling like you, could never kill me!" He chose to leave out the fact that technically he already had. That was a secret he'd keep to himself, no one needs to know about his system.
[A new quest has been created.
Defeat the Sky king!

"Oh is that so, guess that means I'll have to kill you to prove you wrong." Sky king growled.
"Johnny, make sure this good for nothing king doesn't get any reinforcements. I'll take care of him alone." Drew told him.
The bounty hunter stood looking at the king. With the sound of Johnny's footsteps fading, the two rushed at each other. "Wings of the Reaper!" Drew called.
"Sky dash!" Sky yelled flying forward at blinding speed. It seemed he'd be going all out from the start.
The two clashed in the middle, causing the castle to shake and begin crumbling. The wind from the clash had blown both of the warriors back.
The two dashed in and engaged into a close combat duel. Sky threw a left jap, Drew dodged and threw a right, Sky quickly deflected the attack with his arm, throwing out a left elbow in the process. Drew blocked sliding Sky's arm off his, Sky pressed onward attacking with a right palm which Drew hurriedly dodged to the left. As he dodged he threw out a right hand jab which was caught by Sky who proceeded to grab a tighter hold of the bounty hunters arm and knocked him slightly off balance. While Drew struggled to regain his balance Sky king kicked his side as he circled around with another flash of his fist. Drew retaliated by turning around and blocking Sky's attack with his left arm. He then dropped low but Sky was prepared with a kick which was blocked with the right arm.
While Drew's arms were occupied, Sky king's speed increased in an instant. Another kick flashed out striking Drew's chest with another directly after to his upper torso, Drew's wings gave out as he was sent crashing into the floor. Sky king ascended into the air, "sky blade!" He yelled as blades of wind flew at Drew in a flurry. The blades impacted directly in front of him as Drew jumped back, landing on a wall hoping to keep away from the flying menace. Sky king blasted forward with an attack, bringing them back into a close combat fight.
Drew tried to set up an attack but Sky king pushed his arms back and followed with a quick jab to Drew's chest, Drew went for a left cross to the king's face but he ducked low and sent a right kick to Drew's shoulder, followed by a right jab to his throat.
The king grinned. "Let me praise you before you die, the power you showed… was quite amazing! You would have been the greatest in the east blue, if only I wasn't around!"
'Was that… never mind.' Drew thought.
"You're capable of taking attacks that would've beaten any normal person. I'll give you a chance." Sky king said. "Join me and I'll offer you a spot right by my side."
"I'm alright." Drew told him. "I'm not content with taking over such a weak part of the sea. I'm off to the grand line, in my line of work all that matters is the bounty. Helping people comes second."
"The grand line is nothing special, in order to prove that I'll head there and establish a new country. I'll be the strongest in the world, the king of the ocean. No, I'll be an emperor, the most powerful being in the world!" Sky king yelled. "Let's end this, you better give your all in this next attack."
"If that's what you want, I'm down." Drew smiled. "Overclock! Reapers chain!" Chains exploded from his body, circling around the area and thrashing about in a violent fashion.
Sky king climbed into the air and began blasting down at maximum speed. "Sky council!"
"Chained Execution!" As the two attacks collided it caused a massive shockwave, both fighters were hit and dust began clouding the area as the castle crumbled on top of them.
10 minutes later. Two bodies rose from the rubble. "I see you're still alive." A bloodied blue haired king said.
"For a second I thought I'd die. What's more surprising is the fact that you're alive, like a little blue roach surviving things that should've killed you." Drew mocked.
"Looks like we both lost." The sky king laughed.
"No." Drew shook his head. "Just you."
Johnny made his way into the clearing, panting heavily and bleeding. In his arms was a single soldier. "I saved you one of the bad ones like you asked."
Drew smiled. "The reaper will be pleased." As he killed the soldier his injuries were healed and he stood up.
Johnny walked up to the sky king and finished the job. "Bastards like you don't deserve to live, right big bro Drew?!"
Drew looked over in shock. "What did you do?! My quest! My money! They take 10% off if the person is dead, you know! "
Johnny rubbed his head sheepishly. "Sorry Big bro, I forgot." Within an instant his face changed to that of excitement. "This devil fruit you gave me is so good! I can control black crystals and form them into whatever I want."
Drew looked at him with a dead expression. "You're still a fucking turtle, crystals or not you look ridiculous."
Johnny was insulted. "No I don't! He waved his arms which shifted to scales and his back grew heavy."
Drew laughed harder than he ever had before. "I take that back, now you look ridiculous. That hybrid form of yours is ugly as hell!"
When the two made it back to the Baratie they were greeted by a healthy Yosaku and Johnny bowed to Drew in a thank you. "Thanks big bro, Yosaku and I are gonna stay here and clean up the east blue. I'd like this to be a peaceful place we can return to. We'll meet again in the grand line."
Drew nodded and shook the man's hand. "Until then, stay safe." Wings sprouted from his back as he took flight. 'Should I go say bye to Shoko? Maybe I could try one more time to get that date.' He immediately shook his head. 'Nah, I'll head to the grand line. Maybe I can find a nice girl there.' He sighed heavily. 'Being a bounty hunter is so much work.'

Walidcan: Thanks for the advice, I wasn't aware that's how it felt from the readers side. It's been fixed obviously. Now it makes sense why I stopped reading stories after seeing others do the same.
Final thoughts
Should I write like this more often, less about the game and numbers and more on the action? I mean all numbers will remain calculated by me but would you like chapter like 1-5 or chapters like this. Also after every major arc I do plan on taking a brief break on one of the other gamers like I did here.
