Welcome to the final island. Will Takumi's friends pull through without him? Let's find out.
Sonic stood over the edge of a cliff. His mind was occupied with what was discussed the moment they came to this last island. "Everyone…"
"This place should be safe." Alphamon said looking up at the large Ancient structure behind them. "The door is sealed so nobody will be attacking you from behind or above."
"Are you sure you guys won't need our help out there?" Rapidmon Armor asked.
"You know you guys and Takumi weren't the only ones fighting during that incident, right?" Arata asked.
"Yeah, we got this!" Nokia said. "You three just keep Takumi safe!"
"Understood." Craniamon replied. "We shall guard him with our lives. Please… find his mental data."
"Leave it to us." Yuuko replied.
"I must get going." Alphamon said. "I don't know how long I can keep the degrading of the boundaries between our worlds from worsening… Do we have a means or repairing them?"
"I can use Chaos Control too." Sonic said. "Once I have all the Emeralds, I can undo what Crusadermon did. You just have to keep it from getting worse until then."
"I'm counting on you." Alphamon started walking away. She then stopped. "Hudiemon…"
The human-Digimon hybrid looked at her. "Yeah?"
Alphamon closed her eyes. "…You were right about me. I… haven't always been the best role model or the most responsible person with Takumi. And my arrogance has put him in unnecessary danger at times. The fact that's he's going through this because of my mistake back then with Bagramon proves it. And now here I am about to take off while everyone else saves him. That is another failure on my part as his superior. Maybe part of me hasn't changed from who I used to be…"
Everyone looked at her. "Kyoko…" Yuuko murmured.
"Who you used to be?" Keisuke asked.
"Hey, admitting the mistake is the first step to change and becoming better." Sonic grinned. "That alone makes you better than Eggman."
"I guess there's no hiding my arrogance either." Mirei said. "Hudiemon was also right about me. I am a coward. One too scared of changing the future to the point where I can no longer know what it holds. Takumi was able to make his own future even without knowing what destiny had in store for him. What I thought was naiveite and arrogance was strength."
"Do you foresee yourself learning from this mistake?" PileVolcamon joked.
"I cannot tell you what the future holds."
"I guess not." Sonic groaned. "Are we sure you're not a fake Mirei too?"
"Mirei after everything that's happened who cares about what destiny wants?!" Rosemon Burst Mode asked. "Can't you for ONCE just use that power to make your own fate?! Don't you think you owe Takumi that much?!"
Mirei growled. "I can't tell you what the future holds because I can no longer see it! I haven't been able to since the change in reality!" Everyone stayed silent. Mirei sighed and looked away. "And go figure, after I lose that power a Digimon impersonates me leading to all of this. I acted like my ability to see all was a power, a gift. But it was a crutch. I became over reliant on it, and now it's come back to bite me. That's why I'm willing to help you and Takumi now… even if it means turning to methods I would normally not allow. I can't act like I'm above consequences for my actions anymore."
Alphamon faintly chuckled. "I suppose we both still have some growing up to do."
Mirei adjusted her glasses. "I suppose so."
"Alphamon, what you're doing is helping Takumi too." Keisuke said. "Bringing him back won't do much good if the world goes kaput."
"The guy's got a point." Arata said. "And we certainly can't say you're sitting back from a safe distance now."
"Don't worry Kyoko." Nokia smiled. "We'll get Takumi back!"
Alphamon nodded. "I'm counting on you." She turned away. "I… I also miss Takumi. Both as Kyoko and as Alphamon." She took off into the sky.
Hudiemon walked up to Keisuke. "Once Mirei summons Ryuji and Chitose's Digimon here, we should get going too. We need to find Crusadermon."
Keisuke nodded. "Right."
Rosemon Burst Mode looked at Yuuko. "You sure you don't want to run after her again Yuuko the blackhearted? You're fine with someone else having your precious revenge?"
"Sheesh, you trying to pick open old wounds or something?" Sonic asked.
"Rosemon..." Everyone turned to Yuuko as she spoke. "You're right to look down on me for how I was before. I got so caught up in my personal desires that I lost sight of my friends. My badmouthing of Takumi, him being tortured by Crusadermon... those things are mistakes I made because I took those around me for granted. You would think I'd have learned my lesson after what happened in Under Zero but... I messed up again. I disrespected and hurt your brother and I'm sorry."
"That's all well and good, but am I the one you should be apologizing to?"
"She gave Takumi her apology when we discussed this." Craniamon replied. "I also let her know that if she acts obnoxiously towards our brother again there will be consequences regardless of whether or not he approves."
"Seconded." Rapidmon Armor nodded. "Takumi convinced us to stand down last time you insulted him. But if you do that again, we won't be so lenient."
"I know." Yuuko said. "I'll extend my promise you and Rosemon. I won't forget how special Takumi's friendship is and promise to do better."
"Just so long as we're clear on what will happen should you break that promise." Rosemon Burst Mode smirked before whipping the ground. Yuuko gulped.
"Aaaaand on that cheery note, I just want to make sure you're fine with this." Keisuke asked. "I mean after what Crusadermon did to your father and your team…"
Yuuko sighed. "Keisuke…I need to confess something. Back at the hospital… when I asked you to leave Crusadermon to me…"
"Yeah?"
"The real reason why I asked was because I wanted to end her with my own hands and didn't want anyone taking that from me. I was being extremely selfish, even after how much you and Hudie suffered because of me. And I'm sorry."
"Yuuko…"
"Back then all I could think of was revenge. Even now I still feel nothing but contempt for Crusadermon. But… there is one thing that phantom back in Cyber Space told me that I will always agree with." Yuuko held her head up. "If I act only out of vengeance and don't consider what my actions or words do to others… that makes me no different than Crusadermon. So rather than thinking about revenge, I choose to consider those who need me. Takumi is my friend and right now he needs my help. So, I'm going to be there for him, just as he was for me. But I also know we can't leave Crusadermon be, or the situation will worsen. So, Keisuke… Hudiemon… I know I have no right to ask either of you for favors after what happened to Hudie because of me, but please stop Crusadermon so I can rescue Takumi without worrying about what she will do next."
Keisuke nodded. "You got it."
"You're not the only one with a bone to pick with that woman." Hudiemon replied. "We'll hunt her down."
"Be careful, both of you." Arata said.
"Yeah, I haven't got a chance to really get to know Hudiemon!" Nokia added. "I mean and human and a Digimon together, how cool is that! You gotta tell me what that's like after we wrap this up!"
Hudiemon laughed. "I'll do that."
"Alright, now that that's settled, let's do a quick review, shall we?" Sonic asked. "Both the keys needed for Chaos Emeralds and Takumi's Mental Data are in Cyber space. We access those through portals. But to power them up we need gears. Those come from larger robots."
"Keisuke and Sage were controling them before, right?" Nokia asked. "Can't we just get them to give them to us?"
"I'm afraid it won't be so simple." Mirei replied. "It seems our foe is using the Titan's access to the robots' network to take control of them. I imagine they'll attack anyone they see."
"Of course, it can't be simple." Sonic shrugged. "Oh well, then we just have to trash them."
"So, what do we do once we go into Cyber Space?" Arata asked.
"Well, I usually have to run through a small obstacle course. But from my understanding Takumi goes through a place from his past and then fights a copy of one of his enemies. Maybe it'll be the same for you three?"
"Well then, you'll definitely be needing your Digimon." Mirei smiled while typing into her laptop. "Mastemon!"
"Right!" Mirei's Digimon held her hands forward and a glowing blue gate appeared in front of her. Nokia, Arata, and Yuuko smiled in glee when they saw who came out of it.
Sonic grinned. "Your friends are coming for you Takumi."
After the flashback Sonic opened his eyes and looked below the cliff he stood on. "I need to find the Chaos Emeralds." One by one red circles appeared, and a robot dropped down from each one before they all ran forward. Sonic jumped down and landed in front of them as they approached him like a tidal wave. He charged towards the closest one. Just when it was about to thrusts its arms, he spun and bended its face with a spinning upward kick. When it exploded, he jumped back then curled into a ball. He rocketed into another robot slamming his feet into it then jumped off it and flew into another taking it out in one punch. He grinned as it blew up before running forward.
"Catastrophe Cannon!" Golden orbs rained down in front of Sonic destroying a bunch of the robots.
Sonic stopped and looked up as a green creature with blue armor, blond hair and red claws. "Showoff."
"Ha! For the "fastest thing alive" you take a long time to crush these things! Watch and learn!" The Digimon jumped into the middle of the swarm. "Cable Crusher!" He spun in place and stretched his long limbs out smacking them around.
On his back was Arata. "Man, I missed wreaking havoc with you. Good to have you back Diaboromon."
"Heh, heh. Good to be back partner."
More robots appeared from the left and ran at them. "Cross Slicer!" Two trails of blue fire swooped in and took a bunch of them out.
Yuuko was standing on the shoulder of a masked Digimon with silver hair holding curved blades. "We must hurry. Take them out swiftly and decisively Gaiomon."
"As you wish Lady Yuuko." Her Digimon ran forward and slashed three more with his blades.
More were destroyed by blue blasts that rained down from above. "Hey, we want in on this fun too!" Nokia grinned from her capped white partner. "Right Omnimon?"
"Of course!" The Royal Knight drew his Grey Sword and swoped in slashing a horde apart.
Sonic used his Cyloop around the last three stunning them then used a Cross Slash on one of them, used his Cyclone Kick on another then he jumped up and stomped on the last one. "Oh yeah!"
Yuuko looked around. "We're clear." Gaiomon sheathed his swords.
"That was awesome!" Nokia grinned. "I'm so glad I can fight alongside you again Omnimon!"
"I too am grateful to be with you again Nokia." Omnimon replied. "Alas, I wish it were under happier circumstances." They all looked up at the two worlds in the sky.
"Don't worry, we'll fix it." Arata said. "We always do."
"But to do that we need Takumi's help." Yuuko replied.
"So, which of these odd bots do we need to smash again?" Diaboromon asked.
"You want bigger, odder-looking ones, they have the gears." Sonic replied. "Trust me, you'll know one when you see one."
"This island is massive." Omnimon said. "It would be best to split up."
"Sounds like a plan." Sonic grinned before boosting. "Let's roll!"
Ryuji, Chitose, and Yu walked into the deepest area of Under Kawloon. "Hey, I just remembered something." Yu said.
"What is it?" Chitose asked.
"Didn't Keisuke come here recently? When we got that job from Kamishiro?"
"Oh, yeah, that's right."
Ryuji put a hand on his chin. "Come to think of it… that wasn't long before he suddenly went into a coma…"
"I was thinking the same thing!" Yu said. "And ever since he got back from that job, he started acting funny! Do you think this might have something to do with it?"
"Could be. Better stay on our toes." Chitose said. Soon they came into the deepest area. "Well, this is it. See anything?"
The three looked around. "Nothing. Was this just a prank?" Yu asked.
"Looks like it. Ryuji sighed. "What a hassle. As if we don't have enough to be stressed about right now. Come on, let's get out of here."
As Ryuji and Chitose turned back Yu frowned. "I was really hoping for some kind of clue on what happened to Keisuke…" He turned around to follow them.
"You have come." A red light flashed behind them, and they looked back at the end. A red Cyber Portal opened up.
"What the heck is that?!" Chitose asked.
"I've never seen something like that in EDEN before…!" Ryuji said.
Sage slowly floated out of the portal. "I've been waiting for you."
"W-who the heck are you?!" Yu asked. "Were you the one who messaged us?"
Ryuji looked at his Digivice. "No account info comes up on her. Some kind of EDEN mascot or something?"
"No." the girl replied. "I am and A.I. from another world. My codename is Sage."
"An… A.I.?"
"Wait, "another world"?" Chitose asked. "What's that about?"
"Ryuji Mishima. Chitose Imai. Yu Nogi. There is only one more person we need to wait for."
Yu blinked. "Huh? How do you know our names? And what do you mean one more person? Is someone else is coming?"
Ryuji heard footsteps and turned around. "Who's there?"
Yuugo walked up to them. "…Looks like I'm in the right place."
Sage nodded. "Yuugo Kamishiro. Thank you for coming."
"Yuugo Kamishiro… You're Saturo's son." Ryuji noted.
"I am. Were you the ones who called me? This better be important. My father doesn't know I'm here and I'm confident I'm going to be yelled at if he finds out I logged in when he specifically told me not to without Yuuko supervising me after I just got released from the hospital."
"Don't look at us kid, we were called too." Chitose replied. "By this cute/creepy floating little A.I. girl here."
Yuugo looked at the floating girl. "Who… who are you?"
"She calls herself Sage." Ryuji said. "Claims she's a A.I. from "another world" or some nonsense."
"An A.I.?" Yuugo's eyes widened. "Wait… another world"…? Could it be…?" He looked at Sage. "Did you come from the Digital World?"
"No. But I have data on it due to Takumi Aiba and Keisuke Amasawa."
"How do you know Takumi?!"
"You know Keisuke too?" Ryuji asked.
"Takumi Aiba…" Yu said. "I've seen that guy at school before. But I don't think he and Keisuke know each other much. What do those two have to do with each other?"
"Both Takumi and Keisuke are linked to a past that has been undone." Sage replied. "A past involving the Digital World. As for how I know them, I came to EDEN looking for a skilled hacker. That is when I met Keisuke here. Takumi, I meet when the scheme of a Digimon sent him to my world."
"That strange signal we sent him to investigate…" Ryuji noted. "That was you?"
"I do not have time to explain everything." Sage moved aside showing them the portal. "You must come with me to my world. Keisuke, Yuuko, and many others need you."
"You know what happened to Keisuke?!" Yu asked.
Yuugo gasped. "Yuuko…You know where she went?!"
"I brought Keisuke to my world after we formed a deal." Sage replied. "Crusadermon of the Royal Knights sent Yuuko, Takumi, Arata and Nokia there as well."
"Crusadermon?! She's still alive?! And what happened with the EDEN Engine… that was her doing?"
"Our worlds are on the verge of colliding, and we need your help to stop it."
"Is that what's going on outside?" Yuugo murmured.
"What is going on here kid?" Ryuji asked looking at Sage oddly.
"As I said, I do not have time to explain. But once you find your friends you will know. There is one thing." Sage looked at Ryuji, Chitose and Yu. "To further understand the situation, you three must recover your original memories."
"What? Our memories?" Chitose asked.
"I have prepared a simulation for each of you based off of Keisuke's memories. I calculate an 81.12% chance of your memories being fully awakened through these simulations. Warning: The truth will likely bring you three emotional pain. Are you prepared for that?"
"Uh, huh. How do we know this isn't a trick or some hacker's scam?" Chitose asked.
"You do not know it isn't any more then you know it is." Sage replied. "Additionally, none of you know anything about Keisuke's current situation, EDEN Syndrome. What other option do you have if you want to help your friend?"
Yuugo looked at Ryuji and his friends. "EDEN Syndrome? He must be the one father mentioned…" He then turned to Sage. "My sister and my friends… they truly are there, right?"
"Correct."
"All I needed to hear." Yuugo started walking towards the gate.
"Hey! What are you doing?!" Chitose asked.
Yuugo looked at them. "I was once in your friend's position. An EDEN Syndrome victim. I spent eight lonely years separated from the world and everyone. Then… Yuuko, Takumi, Arata, Nokia, all of them came for me. Even when I tried to warn them off for their safety. It's time I returned the favor. This time I'm coming to help them." He walked into the portal and vanished.
"Hey!" Chitose watched him go. "…Okay, so before we jump into the weird creepy glowing thing, you wanna tell us where it will take us?"
"I told you." Sage replied. "To my simulation. After that it will take you to the Cyber Space of the Ancients. As for what will happen from there…" Sage looked down. "I do not know."
The three remaining boys cringed. "That's comforting."
"Afraid of what will happen? I'm surprised. Keisuke wasn't so hesitant. When he finally found a way to the one he loved, to make his family whole…he went straight through. I though those who cared for him like a brother would do the same."
"Don't speak like you know us." Ryuji glared.
"Wait… the one he loves?" Yu asked. "Since when did he have a love interest?!"
"Oh, that dog!" Chitose grinned. "Why didn't he tell us, I gotta find out that guy's secret!"
"I may not know you, but I've spent enough time to get to know Keisuke." Sage said. "And he cares for all of you. You are his family to him. Just as SHE is. That is why he went through with this. Don't you think it's time to return the favor?"
Ryuji and Chitose looked at each other when Yu stepped past them. "Yu? What are you doing?!" Chitose asked.
"What I need to do." Yu stood in front of the portal. "Keisuke's had my back since we were kids, now it's my turn to lend him a hand."
"Yu, you're being far too naive." Ryuji said. "How do we know this thing's telling the truth?"
Yu sighed. "Maybe I don't… But I also know not doing anything won't help Keisuke either! And this A.I. is right about one thing: Keisuke wouldn't hesitate for a moment if it meant helping a friend! So, I won't either!"
Ryuji sighed. "Always so childishly stubborn." He thought for a moment then faintly grinned. "So be it. I guess somebody's going to have to drag you back when this gets out of hand."
Yu smiled. "Ryuji!"
"Keisuke's part of my team and my responsibility. If he needs my help I gotta take the chance to give it to him."
Chitose walked over to them. "Hey, I want in on this party! Hudie's in this together!"
Sage smiled. "Because you are more than just a team. You are a family made with something more powerful than genetics."
"Yeah, she gets it! I guess she does know us after all!"
Ryuji looked into the portal. "Alright. Let's go my brothers! We're getting our man back!"
"Right!" The three stepped inside the gate.
Sonic was running across the Island when he spotted a series of floating blue pads and a familiar sign. "Another puzzle huh? I think I got a good guess on how this one works." He jumped onto the platforms one by one, and they ceased glowing. Once they were all down a blue wave went across the land. Sonic heard a beep and pulled up the Miles Electric. He looked at the map. "Guess Cyber Space linked up with this thing too. Thanks for leaving it with me buddy." He noticed other spots on the map. "Looks like Arata and the others have been clearing puzzles as well… Better get moving. Can't fall behind them."
He continued ahead before he noticed a pack of what looked like some kind of robot wolves ahead of him. When he was spotted, they teleported around him making him stop. They started running in circles around him creating a purple ring. Sonic looked around and readied his guard. One came at him, and he knocked it over with a parry. Then he knocked over another. And another. After the sixth one the ring faded. He Homing Attacked them one by one until they were all destroyed. He heard a boom and looked ahead. Nokia and Omnimon were fighting an upgraded version of the Tower named Red Pillar. It shot red rocks that exploded in pillars of flame making the Royal Knight back up. "Supreme Cannon!" He shot energy blast, but the Red Pillar jumped over it.
"Look out!" Nokia warned.
The Red Pillar descended with its pointed tip at Omnimon but he blocked it with his sword and pushed it back. When the Red Pillar landed it unleashed a wave of spikes, Omnimon had to jump over. "Transcendent Sword!" He swung a wave of fire at it, but it lowered the spinning ring around its body blocking the attack then shot a red laser that Omnimon rolled away from.
It then fired more of its points as Sonic ran over and drew a Cyloop around it taking off a piece and making it stop attacking. "Need a hand?"
"Sonic! About time!" Nokia said.
The Red Pillar jumped up then stomped raising another wave of spikes. Sonic jumped over it then started comboing at the body until the ring around it pushed him away. He ran around evading exploding shots then Omnimon jumped at it again. He stabbed his sword into the head, and it fell apart. "It's over."
"Phew, they're really bringing out the big guns." Sonic searched through the rubble. "Ah! Here we are!" He held up the prize.
"So that's the gear, huh?" Nokia asked. "Uh… what do we do with it again?"
"We find a gate and but this baby in. Then we can jump to Cyber Space."
"Okay, cool! So, where's the gate?"
Sonic looked at the Miles Electric. "Looks like there's one close by. Come on." Nokia climbed onto Omnimon who followed Sonic to a pillar on the edge of a cliff. Sonic put the gear inside and red light flowed into it. "Once we go into Cyber Space we'll probably end up getting separated." Sonic turned around to Nokia and Omnimon. "So…good luck. I never really asked Takumi what it's like for him, but I doubt it'll be easy."
"Doesn't matter to me." Nokia replied. "My buddy is stuck in pieces over there and I'm gonna make sure he's put back together! Whatever's waiting for me over there… I'll make it work out! Me and Omnimon!"
The Royal Knight nodded. "I will protect Nokia to the end. Do not worry about us Sonic. You just focus on collecting the keys you need to access the Chaos Emeralds. We'll need them to stop Crusadermon's scheme. As powerful as she is, I doubt Alphamon can keep this up forever."
"You got it." Sonic turned back to the gate and put his hand on it. "See you guys on the other side." He turned into a red light and flowed into it.
"Alright… here we go!" Nokia put her hand on the gear symbol.
"Stay close Nokia." Omnimon said before the two were transported into Cyber Space.
Nokia and Omnimon appeared in the middle of a circular platform in what looked like space. A black diamond was floating in the middle. "Wait… I know this place…" Nokia said.
"Under Zero?!" Omnimon said. "Is this what Sonic was talking about? Cyber Space creating places from our past?"
Nokia walked up to the center. "This place… I'll never forget what happened here… because of what Crusadermon did… I can still hear the screams…"
Omnimon looked at her sadly. "Nokia…"
"Oh please, don't feel sorry for this idiot."
Nokia gasped and looked around as a voice echoed. "W-w-what was that?!"
"After all… it's her fault." A red light came down. And it morphed into the shape and form of… Nokia.
Omnimon did a take seeing his partner's duplicate. "N-Nokia?!"
"Wh-what's happening?!" Nokia gulped.
The copy glared at her. "What Crusadermon did"? Typical. Always harassing and blaming others for your stupidity."
"Huh?!"
"Did Arata not warn you against coming here to Under Zero? He warned you how dangerous it was? Did you listen? No! You spouted some self-righteous nonsense and ran off without thinking AGAIN!"
"What do you mean self-righteous nonsense?! I wanted to make EDEN a place where hackers never misused Digimon ever again!"
The copy folded her arms. "Right. And how exactly were you going to do that? Do you even know what Under Zero is?"
Nokia paused. "Huh? Well…uh…it's the core of EDEN…? Or something special like that…? I mean Yuugo-I mean Yuuko said she could use it to rule all of EDEN so I figured-
"You FIGURED?!" The copy laughed before gesturing to the core. "You didn't even fully comprehend what this thing is, and you thought you could use it to make all your lofty dreams come true?! You didn't even know what you were going to DO when you reached this thing, did you, you moron?!"
Nokia shuddered. "I…I…Well the Rebels I brought with me would surely have-
"Oh, so that's all those dedicated followers of yours were to you? Just guys to do all the complicated stuff for you? Hey, you know what, why not? You sure used Takumi a lot." The clone started pacing. "I mean you hid behind him when you first went to Kawloon, you hid behind him during your search for Agumon and Gabumon, you used him as a personal trainer for your "team" because you couldn't train them yourself, you used him to fulfill Omnimon's request to recruit the Royal Knights! You just used people left right and sideways, especially him!" the fake Nokia snarled. "And do you know why you used them like that Nokia? Because you are too useless to do anything yourself!"
"W-what?!"
Omnimon stepped forward. "Don't listen to her Nokia! This is likely something our enemies set up to harm you!"
"Omnimon!"
The copy groaned. "All that love and loyalty for a stupid brat like that. What a waste."
"I have no interest in the opinions of a faker like you! Begone!" Omnimon fired his Garuru Cannon making and explosion. When smoke started to settle, he saw something in front of the fake Nokia. "What?!"
Nokia gasped. A black Omnimon blocked the attack with ease. "That's… Omnimon Zwart! But… Takumi and Sonic…!"
The clone Nokia laughed. "In this Cyber Space anything is possible. It was made by a race with an intellect far beyond yours… then again, that's not saying a whole lot, is it?"
Omnimon Zwart roared before rushing at Omnimon. "Nokia, here it comes!"
"Be careful Omnimon!" Nokia shouted.
Omnimon and Zwart drew their Grey Swords and steel collided making an echoing clang. After it was clear neither would budge, they both jumped back and fired cannon shots that collided and exploded. Nokia yelped as the force of the blast nearly blew her away. Omnimon looked up to see his doppelganger gone. "Where is he?!"
Nokia gasped. "Above you!"
Omnimon looked up and saw Zwart descend towards him with his blade. "Ultimate Uppercutt!" He leapt up and batted the dark copy's sword away with his own before shooting it repeatedly with his cannon.
Zwart backflipped and then landed on his feet. "Garuru Cannon!" He fired at Omnimon then dashed towards him. Omnimon batted the shot aside before he noticed his copy was coming at him. Their swords clashed repeatedly sending sparks flying. Omnimon got knocked back by a surprise Cannon Shot. Zwart then aimed his cannon behind him and his sword forward. "Blaster Blade!" His cannon propelled him forward.
Omnimon acted fast and blocked the sword with the shield on his shoulder. "Transcendent Sword!" He swiped upward getting a good blow on Zwart's chest. As he was knocked back Zwart fired at Omnimon hitting him square in the chest and both Omnimon landed on their backs.
"Omnimon!" Nokia ran up to her Digimon as he sat up. "That guy's got you evenly matched!"
Omnimon grunted as he looked at his foe who got back to his feet. "So, it would seem… I need to end this fast. I cannot let this drag out!"
"Got it! Let's finish it off with this next blow!"
"Right!" Omnimon got to his feet as Zwart rushed at him. "Double Shot!" He punched the ground with his Garurumon head making a trail of ice then froze Zwart then with his Greymon head making a trail of fire that launched it upwards. Omnimon then flew straight at Zwart with his sword glowing. "Sword of Ruin!" He swung the blade and a golden explosion engulfed Zwart.
"Yeah!" Nokia cheered. "We did it!"
Her copy snarled as Zwart hit the ground. "We"? Please. I didn't see you do any fighting."
"She didn't need to." Omnimon replied panting. "Nokia's faith in me gives me strength."
"Oh really? The other Royal Knights didn't need her to reach your level. I think that was just your strength Omnimon. Can you deny that even without humans Digimon are stronger than them? That's why Takumi, Arata and Yuuko support their Digimon through their tactics, hacking and clever thinking. Things this blockhead lacks. All she can do is cheer for you on the sidelines just like she did whenever she had Takumi or the Rebels deal with her problems for her."
"Yeah right!" Nokia glared. "If that's the case how come my Omnimon's still standing while yours is taking a dirt nap?!"
"The battle isn't over yet." The fake Nokia's eyes turned red. She held her palm towards Omnimon Zwart and it started glowing before ingulfing the knight in red. It roared as it got up and exploded in crimson light.
"What?!" Omnimon shielded himself from the shockwave. Nokia screamed as she nearly fell over.
Red mist faded and Zwart had transformed. His shoulders grew with spiked pads. The two heads on his hands were different. He had red horns. The fake Nokia laughed. "Omnimon Alter-B… Destroy them!"
The new Omnimon roared before rushing at Omnimon. When the Royal Knight saw his opponent rush at him with his Greymon held out, Omnimon drew his Grey Sword ready to block Alter-Bs. But the black knight stopped right in front of Omnimon and the Greymon hand brought out the cannon instead of the sword. "W-what?!"
"Transcendent Cannon!" A laser was fired from the cannon blowing Omnimon down.
Omnimon got up and looked at his Greymon hand. The attack destroyed his Grey Sword. "That's… impossible…!"
"Omnimon, look out!" Nokia screamed.
Omnimon gasped as his enemy came towards him. He shot his cannon at it but the target was too fast and whirled around each and every shot before he closed in. "Supreme Sword!" Alter-B closed in on Omnimon in a flash and slashed his cannon off before spinning and kicking him in the chest knocking him back. Alter-B zoomed after him and slashed him repeatedly. He then held his cannon right at Omnimon's chest. "Transcendent Cannon." Omnimon was blasted a good distance and face first on the ground.
"No… Omnimon!" Nokia ran over to him. "Omnimon, get up!"
"Agh…"
"Yet ANOTHER innocent… you made suffer in this place."
Nokia looked at her clone. "What?"
"Don't tell me you already forgot?" The red-eyed Nokia looked around. "When you came storming in to interfere with Yuuko, you sent many of your Rebels and their Digimon to their doom at the hands of Eaters. So much for protecting all Digimon."
"That's…" Nokia shivered. "I… we didn't know that…"
"Arata warned you Under Zero was dangerous, didn't he? And did you listen to him? No, you arrogantly charged in recklessly. Kinda like what happened with Examon, when Yuuko suggested we needed a plan. And what was the brilliant plan our leader of the Rebles had in mind? Ah yes, the "Whatever Feels Right at the Moment Strategy". Even though Omnimon and Kyoko made it clear that Examon was the strongest of the knights. Maybe if you used your head a little… Omnimon wouldn't have lost his buddy Gallantmon back then."
That struck Nokia in the heart. "I…I…!"
"And if you listened to the opinions of others instead of acting on stubborn self-righteousness…" The copy raised her hand. "Maybe THIS wouldn't have happened either!" She snapped her fingers.
In a flash of white holograms of people Nokia knew were seen surrounded by Eaters. She gasped as one by one they were consumed by the horde. "No… no…!"
"G-get away from me!"
"Somebody, help!"
"NOOOOOOO!"
It wasn't just hackers. Digimon with them also fell to the monsters. "Stop…!" Nokia squeezed her eyes shut. "STOP SHOWING ME THIS!"
"Ryuji!" Nokia gasped and looked behind her as Chitose shoved his friend out of the way before an Eater got him. She watched in horror as her friend was devoured.
"Chitose…!" The holograms faded as Nokia dropped to her knees. "No… what have I…?!"
"Are you just now realizing how many people suffered because of your idiocy? Reality seems to have finally gotten through that thick skull of yours." The fake Nokia started walking towards her. "Takumi is a good detective. Yuuko and Arata are skilled hackers. And what do you bring to the table? Stupidity and suffering. Nothing more. You're just a hindrance! A nuisance to everyone!"
Nokia started to cry. "Am I…really just a burden to everyone…?"
The fake Nokia grabbed the real one by the hair and lifted her up making the girl yelp in pain. "Don't feel sad." The copy's other hand morphed into a blade like what the Ninja-type Guardians have for arms. "I'll relieve all of your friends of the idiotic burden named Nokia once and for all."
"N-Nokia!" Omnimon shouted struggling to get up.
Nokia squeezed her eyes shut. "I…I really am useless… I'm… sorry…everyone…" Her copy reeled her blade back ready to finish her.
"HAAAAAAAAAAAAA!" Something fast hit the copy right in the face. It dropped Nokia before it went flying and rolled across the floor.
The copy growled from her knees. "Who- She looked up and gasped. "YOU!"
"Nokia, get up!"
Nokia looked up from her knees. In front of her was a familiar pink girl dressed in red holding her red and gold Piko Piko Hammer. "…A…Amy…?"
I don't plan on making all of the Cyber Space fights two partners, this one just ended up that way. And on that note, it ain't just Takumi's friends who are fighting for their hero. Next chapter we'll see whose time has come and gone and who will be the ones to carry on.
