Padmé finds out just how popular The Hero With No Fear is on the holonet.
Padmé is alone tonight, which means her bed is uncomfortably cold and empty. At the start of the war, she would be filled with sorrow and worry for her husband, as well as the state of their galaxy. Threepio did help from time to time, but he never quite pushed that loneliness away.
Now, two years into this mess, Padmé finds other methods to fill the time. She's at least semi-confident Anakin will come back and that lets her relax from a long day at word. Her head aches from selfish politics and her throat has been getting soar from screaming into her pillows.
Tonight, Padmé goes to the holonet, a more common occurrence lately. She's never been one to mindlessly surf, not when she has much more important things to do, but she's tired of work.
All articles about the war are strictly avoided. She focuses only on the smaller stories or the educational ones, telling about new planets found and their cultures. Voices of people who have discovered medicines on their home planets and wish to spread the information.
Of course, that only lasts for so long. It takes a single holovid for Padme to lose all focus.
It's of Anakin. The vid is short, only lasting a few minutes at most, but it's a mashup of several clips, all detailing their Hero With No Fear. Most come from when he's walking out in public or near the temple entrance. Anakin has told her about fans approaching him every so often, when he's on Coruscant.
This vid turns into another three, as Padmé watches these fans make quite the entertainment. They show off his broad features and his beautiful hair. A few catch Anakin as he's holding his lightsaber; though, most of those are from further away and of lower quality.
It heats Padmé's cheeks. She can't but smile as she watches more and more, drinking in the vids of her husband in various situations. She admires his slender hips and how his Jedi robes seem to hug them so nicely. She loves his shoulders and that too-smug look he gets.
It's only as Padmé starts to read the comments on these vids that her face light sup completely.
People on the holonet are making very bold claims about her husband!
They get worse and worse, some even going as far as to detail how they think he might sound in...intimate situations. How he would act, what role he would take on. It leaves Padmé both offended and completely baffled.
But mostly, just outrageously amused.
"I bet he growls", one commenter says, adding on several explicit emoticons at the end.
"On my knees," and a kneeling emoticon.
"THOSE EYES!!"
"Bet he likes being called sir!"
"Are the 501st allowing volunteers? Asking for a friend," several side-ways glancing emoticons.
"I'll bet he breaks headboards," liquid emoticons?
"Call me a clone cause I'll be-" Padmé gasps.
There is no way!
Padmé cackles as she kicks her legs in the air. She can't take this, it's too funny. Her ribs hurt from laughing so hard and her eyes are starting to tear up. By the time she's caught her breath, Padmé has just near pissed herself.
While she would love to explore these vids more, Padmé decides to let her curiosity wonder. She searches up her own name and as expected, most of them are political. Articles both agreeing and disagreeing with her statements show first.
To her surprise, a lot of them are about her dresses too. Nubian fashion designers who explain the history of her hairstyles and others attempting to replicate them. It brings her close to home in a way she never thought it would.
Then, she gets to the good part. The same vids but of her, all showing off her outfits and clips of public footage.
The comments are similar to Anakin's, but more about her figure. She finds them flattering, but not as good. They don't compliment her the way Anakin does.
By the time she finds vids of her and fellow senators being romanticized, she's just about reached her limit.
Setting her holodevice down, Padmé sucks in a deep breath. Her cheeks slowly begin to cool and her heart rate falls back into a steady, slow beat.
Maybe that's enough holonet for one night.
