Author's Note: Just a quick head's up. Until further notice, whenever I'm dropping a new batch of chapters, I'll include a new chapter of the Ghost, the Trickster, and Molly McGee in it. I'm hoping to get to the holiday episodes before December.

On a related note, as you know, after this, we get to Mama's Gotta Hustle. I don't really know what sort of changes I'm gonna make there, so I'm not sure if I should skip it and move on straight to Horray for Mollywood or not. What do you all think?

There are two different songs featured here. One is Kenny Star's "Ordinary Guy" song that's actually in the show, but the other one is a parody of "Truck Drivin' Girl" from Phineas and Ferb. This took a lot of outsourcing to come up with. Thank you, Lord Zeppelin.

Any and all comments are welcome.

Molly McGee had done something that surprised everybody. With the help of most Brighton citizens, she got the bandshell rebuilt. But her task still isn't done yet. She needs her first show to be played upon its stage. And so, auditions were up.

The McGee family were sitting on the front row of the empty seats listening to auditions alongside two of their new friends, Batty and Peggy. But so far, none of the auditions were impressive enough.

"Glad I don't have eardrums," Scratch said, "Because that last act would have them bleeding."

"I'd much rather have a snake drip its venom into my eyes until Ragnarok than listen to all that." Loki commented.

"Look, those acts were fine." Molly said. "But is fine really good enough for the first concert in Brighton's new and improved bandshell?"

"No." Patty said. "We need something that'll rock this town. Hey, Peggy, you still got contact with those guys from that old Captain America show?"

"All dead, I'm afraid." Peggy said.

"What about the Star Lords?" Sharon asked.

"Who?" Darryl asked.

"This super-awesome band that Sharon and I love to hear." Pete said. "Though, sadly, they're not on this side of the country."

"OOH!" Molly cheered. "I GOT IT! We get… Kenny Star!"

"I'm afraid to ask, but who's Kenny Star?" Loki asked.

"Kenny Star is Brighton's biggest celebrity." Molly said as she pulled down a sheet. There was a projection of a guy in a cowboy costume on it. "Well, technically, he was born in Tuscaloosa, but his great-great grandmother's second cousin once removed did summer school here, which means Kenny's basically a Brightonian."

"Why did you bring us all the way to your room to answer my question?" Loki asked.

"Forget that." Scratch said. "I wanna know where Molly got a projector."

With a push of a button on her clicket, Molly played a music video of Kenny Star playing his guitar while being shot out of a cannon, riding on an eagle, and reshaping Mt. Rushmore with dynamite.

Kenny Star:

I'm just a red-blooded, hard-working regular guy

Don't need no caviar. Just give me burgers and fries

I ain't ever shopped on Rodeo Drive

I'm just an ordinary guy

I'm just a sports-lovin', druck drivin', average dude

I'm just an ordinary guy

Work in a cubicle

Ordinary guy

I drive a soccer carpool

Ordinary guy

Pete started to choke up at the end of the music video. "Just like me."

"No!" Sharon shouted. "Nothing like you! Never trust a musician. They'll listen to your self-produced demo tapes, promise to make you a star, then leave you standing in the rain with an acoustic guitar and a suitcase full of broken dreams!"

"Sharon's failure past aside," Loki said, "Molly, how are you going to even get this so-called 'ordinary guy' to perform at the bandshell?"

"He's right, Moll." Scratch said. "This guy is a huge celebrity. He's never stepping foot in Brighton."

"Oh, really?" Molly asked. "Wait 'til you see what I have planned." She revealed another sheet. There was Kenny Star's picture surrounded by an assortment of images connected by red string.

"Ah! We're going to murder him." Scratch said enthusiastically.

"WHAT? NO!" Molly replied. "Right now, Kenny's tour bus is on its way to Cleveland, and we're going to intercept him. Assuming Kenny is, as his song states, and 'ordinary guy', who weighs approximately 180 pounds, and his tour bus which leaves from here at noon traveling 65 miles an hour, add in his insatiable need for a fresh cup of Colombian dark roast every 3.2 hours, factoring in a stiff…"

"MOLLY!" Loki interrupted. "Is there a rest stop between now and the point?"

"Right." Molly said. "Glad you said that, Loki. Because he'll be making a rest stop near Brighton in exactly thirty minutes."

"Did you stay up all night half-baking that plan?" Scratch asked.

"Yes, because Brighton deserves the greatest concert ever. And when it comes to people we care about, McGee's go the extra mile."

"Well, me and Loki are not McGee's," Scratch said.

"And unless there's an extra mile shorter between me and ruling the Nine Realms, I'm not interested." Loki said.

"If you say so." Molly said.

"Oh, Scratch! Loki!" Molly cried out as she left the house.

Suddenly, Scratch was pulled from the door and Loki appeared in front of Molly in a puff of smoke.

Loki growled. "You little pest! I hate when you do that! How would you feel if I did that to you?"

"How would I feel about one of my best friends using magic to bring me by their side?" Molly replied with a smile. "I'd welcome it."

Loki opened his mouth, but no words came out. He then sighed. "That one's on me."

"Now, let's go get Kenny Star!" Molly declared loudly.

Molly didn't know it, but her declaration was overheard by her neighbor, who spread the word of Kenny Star to all her friends and their friends and so on. Rumors spread like wildfire.

About a half-hour later, the McGee family made it to the truck stop where Kenny Star would meet. Scratch floated around with a smug look on his face.

"Well, well, well. Would you look at that? He's not here. Humph."

Suddenly, Scratch was caught off guard by Kenny Star's bus hitting him. Loki chuckled at that. The bus doors opened up and the only man inside stepped out.

"Somebody get me a Colombian dark roast."

"Mr. Star," Molly said, "You may not know this, but there's a whole town full of extraordinarily ordinary people, just like you, who are counting on you to make their wildest dreams come true. I'm talking about Brighton, home of the bravest Wilder Scouts, awesomest junior softball team, and the most efficient elderly construction crew you've ever seen. Please, Mr. Star, embrace your Brightonian roots and come play our newly rebuilt bandshell tonight. Make your great-great grandma's second cousin once removed proud."

"I don't know who you are, little lady, but that was the most beautiful speech I've ever heard.

Just one problem… I'm not Kenny Star." He removed his hat and wig. "I'm his stunt double."

The revelation left the most surprised look on Molly's face yet. "Then… Where's Kenny?"

"Thirty thousand feet in the air on his private jet."

"Private jet?" Loki asked. "I thought he was just an 'ordinary guy'."

"Well, if you ask him, he'll say that he puts his rhinestone britches on one leg at a time like everyone else, or something like that." The stunt double answered. "Look, I'm sorry, but there's nothing I can do. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to use the restroom."

The stunt double left for a restroom from his cannon leaving Molly with a disappointed look of sadness on her face. "How could this happen? I planned for everything."

Loki sighed. "That's exactly like what I said every few weeks back before I died."

"Listen," Scratch said, "Let's go grab some ice cream sandwiches and some beef jerky while we're here."

Molly lowered her head and returned to her van. "Let's go."

Loki and Scratch both shot their heads up looking at Molly. "Wait, you're giving up?" Scratch asked. "Aren't you gonna, you know, be all positive and optimistic and annoying?"

"No, Scratch, I tried my best." Molly said. "It didn't work. I let everyone down."

"What happened to the whole 'McGee's go the extra mile' talk?" Loki asked.

"There's nowhere left to travel. Sorry, guys."

Molly and her family drove off leaving both Loki and Scratch in the parking lot. The two of them exchanged looks.

"So… that's it?" Loki asked. "This whole bandshell story arc is over abruptly? This is Molly's first ever failure?"

"I don't know about you, Loki, but I don't like it." Scratch sighed. "And though it really pains me to do this for her…" He suddenly shot himself into the sky.

Loki stood there in the quiet parking lot. "Well, there go both my rides."

All of a sudden, Scratch returned fast as he left crashing to the ground. He shook himself straight. "Well, that failed?"

"What failed?" Loki asked. "What did you try to do?"

"I tried to catch Kenny Star's plane and fly it over to Brighton," Scratch said, "But that guy really has a fast jet."

"What? Why would you try to do that?"

"I guess Molly was right about one thing. When it comes to the people we care about, McGee's go the extra mile."

"But we're not McGee's." Loki said. "And we don't care about anyone but ourselves."

"I thought so," Scratch said, "But you gotta admit, all these weeks having to put up with Molly, it somehow feels bad when she feels bad, doesn't it? What do they call it? Empathy?"

Loki lowered his head. "Well, I guess it does look different after that gift she made me over at the softball game. But what can we do? Brighton's expecting Kenny Star to put on a show at the bandshell, and all we got was a double."

All of a sudden, both Loki and Scratch shot their heads up. They looked at each other and realized they had the same idea.

"I mean, it's not like…" Loki started to say.

"Would you…" Scratch returned.

"That would be…"

"But that would mean…"

"Is that even…"

"Fine." Both said simultaneously. "Let's do it."

The sad McGee family drove up to the bandshell to find it surrounded by the citizens of Brighton. They were all cheering for Kenny Star to show up, which only made them very, very nervous.

Molly walked past the crowd and up to the stage where the microphone was. "Hey, everyone. So, there are good news and bad news. The good news is, we're all here, you know, together, and I am so happy to see all your many, many smiling faces."

"Less talking, more rocking!" Patty shouted.

"Yes. So… The bad news…" Molly was interrupted by a sudden shove from behind. She landed on her feet and saw that her pusher was none other than Scratch. "Scratch, what the heck, dude?"

"Trust me. It's all gonna work out." Scratch said.

All of a sudden, two authentic cowboy boots walked onto the bandshell stage. Everyone cheered at the performer on it, but the McGee family dropped their jaws at who they were seeing.

"KENNY STAR! KENNY STAR! KENNY STAR!"

"That's right, folks. It's me." Kenny said readying his guitar. "And this ordinary guy's got a fresh song for y'all." He began playing his guitar filling everyone's ears with country music.

Kenny Star:

Now, I'm gonna talk 'bout a town that's extraordinary

It's so full of surprises, it's honestly scary

Despite it's countless flaws, there's hidden potential

I think a little excitement would be very beneficial

It's a diamond in the rough, this town called Brighton

It's extraordinary

Very extraordinary

"I… I don't believe it." Molly smiled widely. "How did you guys pull this off? Is that the stunt double?"

"Not the stunt double, Moll." Scratch said.

"Then who… Wait a minute." Molly looked around every general direction. "Where's Loki?"

Scratch didn't remove his eyes from the performance. Molly looked over to the musician and saw a brief glimpse of green light in his eyes. She gasped finally seeing who it really was playing for Brighton.

"Kenny Star":

Well, from what I can see, far as I can tell

This remarkable hamlet is turning out well

Which is why I'm glad to be performing a show

It's extraordinary

Very extraordinary

IT'S INCREDIBLY, UNBELIEVABLE, BIZARRELY, INSANELY, ABSOLUTELY, POSITIVELY, ASSUREDLY, MOST CERTAINLY, EXTRAORDINARY

The song ended leaving the audience booming with cheers and applause. "Kenny Star" took one last bow before heading backstage. That's when he dropped his disguise and took a breath.

"All in all, that was actually pretty good."

"Couldn't have said it better myself, Loki!" Molly agreed as she suddenly appeared to Loki along with Scratch and the rest of the family.

"Loki, did you pretend to be Kenny Star to play a country song at the bandshell?" Sharon asked. "That's… Wow."

Loki sighed. "This was a one-time thing. Let's never talk about it again.

"No promises!" Molly cheered. "You and Scratch saved the day! You went the extra mile because you're real McGee's now!"

"Well, maybe, we're like, you know, McGee-adjacent." Scratch said.

"I'm just glad this whole bandshell thing is over already." Loki said. "I'll just…"

"Bring it in, honorary McGee's!" Molly cheered. Suddenly, she and the rest of her family latched onto Loki and Scratch with a big group hug.

Loki groaned before seeing Pete's wallet sticking out of his back pocket. He carefully pulled it out without his knowledge, but then paused. He then decided to put it back and hug right back.

Whether he liked it or not, Loki Laufeyson was a part of the family.

Author's Note: Hope you all enjoyed that. But don't think I'm done here yet. Next chapter will feature a certain surprise inspired from an old comment which I can't seem to find. Enjoy.
