Chapter 3: Father and Son part 1

Hawks walked back to the classroom. His hands in his pockets and coat was draped over his shoulder hiding the bandages wrapped around his shorten wings. He's my father. But how and why didn't he say anything to me?

Hawks was still reeling from news he received while getting his wings looked at and a required blood test done which he wasn't even aware of needing, he was told leave after receiving the life changing news. As he reached the classroom. Okay breathe Hawks, ya got this. He gave a long sigh to compose himself before walking in.

"Greeting Hawks." Professor said, he turned to face door along with others in the room. Professor stood in the front with Storm and Logan.

Hawks smiles and nods a greeting to Professor as he walked into the noticed yellow sleeping bag tucked away in a corner. Huh, must be Eraser's nap time.

"You look better," he said with smile. The X-Men and class 1-A in room nodded in agreement. "Thanks," Hawks smiles back at them. Do they know?

"Is something we can we do for you?" Professor X asked.

"Oh, uh..um," Hawks way trying to figure out what to say. Not now. How I'm drawing a blank this never happens.

"Well, interested in sticking round?"

"Ehh.. yeah, I got some time to spare."

"Do you want sit or stand?"

"I'll stand." Hawks said and made his way to the back of the classroom. After that Aizwa and Professor X picked up where they had left off.

Within five minutes Hawks watched Recovery Girl showed up asking to speak with Professor X.

He was half watching as they left the room. What could they be talking about?

. **** **** ***. **.

The two exited the classroom the two moved away from the door.

"Chiyo Shuzenji. It's good to see you again. How have you been?" Professor X asked.

"I've been well Xavier. Been working as UA's school nurse for the last decade now. How about you? It's ages since I last you. How's life in US?"

"Good, I've open my home to youngsters looking to under their quirks and grow. It's been keeping me quite busy."

"As much as I love to catch up more. I do have news to share with you. It's about your son." Recovery Girl said.

"My son?"

"Yes, I was contacted by Daisuke few days ago. He wanted my help with testing your DNA against one of our heroes' own."

"And what come of it?"

"Charles what if I told your hunch was right and your son is alive and well."

"Your serious," Professor X said thinking back to the memory. "H-he died a long time ago, well he should be dead." It was bitter memory of his. Another reason he made his school for the gifted. To help others and ones who need a parental guidance as well.

"That is incorrect."

" How ?" Professor X was taken aback. by this his wide eyes in shock. "Your, sure?" he asked folding his hands out front of him as leaning forward. How ? His thoughts went over what he was told by doctors. He died that day right?

"Yes, I'm sure," she said confidently with a smile. "Though how I am not sure how. I know Reiko, must have been watching out for him."

Professor X sighs relief washing over him. He didn't know what to think. But his main concern was.. "Does he know?" he asked her. "That's I'm his father?"

"Yes. He does." Recovery Girl clarifies. "Hawks, is in the room, still shocked by the news, and trying to process it as well."

Professor X let's the news sink in. Hawks he's my son then. Professor X still had questions many. Sighing, "Well, that makes two of us," he finally said looking at the classroom. Then back at Recovery Girl and smiles. "Thanks for telling me, Shuzenji, he said."I think we'll need to talk about it later though. It will give us both a chance to process what we found out."

"True, but you should do it soon, he will be leaving, heading back to HQ to do a solo mission. He told me about few minutes ago before I shooed his butt out of office. Honestly he is third worst patient I've ever had pleasure of helping."

Should he even go on a mission with a damaged quirk yet again go alone? "I'll do that, I am sorry about his antics" he apologizes.

"Don't be, now go on. You go make it to him you hear. He has the right to know your his father."

Professor nods, "I will," he than making his way back to the classroom. He stopped thanking her once more before entering the room.

Hawks looked over at Professor X as he entered making eye contact with who he now knew to be his father. It felt weird as he thought about it. Hawks looked away Professor X who apologized for having to step out.

Hawks tried to concentrate but, the walls felt like they were caving in. Fearful he would lose his composure with the others, Hawks got up to leave, hoping his baggy pants would hide his shaking knees.

. **** **** ***. **.

"Are sure?" Storm asked. Class had ended an hour ago and X-Men were gathered together outside the school. "I am," Professor X nodded his head. He is my kin I'm sure.

"Logan and Storm can come with me. Rest of you wait here," They looked at each other then nodded.

"Do, think he wants to talk?" Jean asked.

"Let's hope so, we have a lot to discus. I won't belong though."

"Do, think the kid stuck around here?" Logan asked looking around the school grounds.

"Maybe, if not, Recovery Girl, the healer here mentioned an agency. I'll swing by there if he's left the school grounds already." With that they split off from the others looking for Hawks.

. **** **** ***. **.

Hawks was at HQ sitting on a meeting with those who were there for the mission. He knew he could complete it faster on his own like always. Yet though he there taking discussing with everyone.

His mind was still processing the info he was given. He was hoping maybe the solo mission would help him get things in order.

The Professor, Storm and Logan had looked around school normally and telepathically. No but sign of Hawks. "So, any idea where this agency is?" Logan asked Professor. "Hmm.. we could ask. I am sure someone knows it."

"He's downtown close to a forest area. Look for tall building," said a blonde lady looking over at them. Mt. Lady had over heard them and figured she would give them a hand.

"Thank you."

"Your welcome. Just head straight that way," she points in the direction. "You can't miss it."

. **** **** ***. **.

The group made their way towards the building she told them about. "What do you plan on tell him?" Logan asked. "Not sure, right now. I think he's just confused like me," Professor X said. "Let's just take this a step at time and focus on getting to the agency first."

As they got closer. Hawks could sense them approaching the agency. Hawks lets out sigh. Looks like it time . He began to fidget about not sure what to fully expect from them.

"So this the place?" Logan asked. "Yes." "You sure you want to us to wait here?" Professor X nods. "Yes, I won't be long," He said leaving them as he enters the building.

Professor X reached the door to the room knocks.

Hawks gets up and walks over to the door and opens it. The bandages hanging off the back of the handle. Due fact he taken it off and his wings earlier. They were slightly bleeding still but, It wan't like they wouldn't heal. Opening the door he was greeted by the Professor X.

"Greeting Hawks, may I come in?"

Hawks moves aside to lets Professor X in."Make yourself comfortable." He says as he rolls up the bandages and went to wash them.

"Wings healing okay?" He asked noticing the bandages in his hands, and his wing were unwrapped and with a slight trace of blood on them.

"They are slowly...but they will be fine in a day or two."

Professor nods as bit of his worry edging away. "Actually I am here to talk with you. Do you have time?"

"E- yeah, I have some time to spare," Hawks placed the bandages down near sink to wash them.

"Earlier you looked nervous, I take it Recover Girl if I recalled correct told you something."

"Yeah she did," Hawks recalling the moment Recovery Girl told him who his real father was it hit like bird against a window. "She said that you're my real father," he said, sending a wary glance over at the Professor X.

Professor nods. "That correct, I am your father. She told me earlier was well. I must say I was shocked. Because what I was told you died," he kept his voice even as he talked. Maybe still coming to terms this was real.

"Who told you that?" Hawks scoffed. He was curious though. Who would lie to him and why?

"Doctors and some of the people looking into the accident Involving you and your mother. I tried to do my own investigating but, they kept on telling me you were dead, and drop what I was doing."

"Well obviously they were wrong," He half laughed. "I may have been on my own, practically my whole life, but whoa.. whoa hold up does that mean I have a death certificate and tomb?" Hawks' eyes widen in fear . Am I legally dead?

"Settle down, I don't think so, even if you do, it's more then likely all faked."

Hawks let's out a sigh he didn't know he was holding. "Man, that's a relief, I don't want to see my name in stone just yet," he smirk but then frown. "Speaking of names. Is my legal name really my name? Because if not I would like to know."

"Your legal name?"

"Yeah Takami Keigo. Eh, Keigo Takami, if your speaking in your county." Hawks said rubbing the back of his neck. Am I really Japanese then or part?

"Well, then yes. Keigo is your actual name. Your first name for sure your mother thought it would be appropriate to give you a Japanese name since you were born here in Japan, and because her great-grandparents were Japanese."

"That makes one things that wasn't a lied." he said. "Though I mostly go by Hawks these days. If you catch my drift, I haven't told anyone my legal name since I became a hero."

"Well then, I'm glad to meet you again and that you have turned out to be a fine hero."

Hawks gave a cheeky smiled and chuckled. "More of a stubborn one that takes too many risks."

Professor X laughs. "Everyone takes risk but, you are a fast learner and from the skills I've seen. Prove you've came along way," He said. "Though not sure where the stubbornness comes from."

"Heh, stubbornness, huh I've been on my own for so long I guess it just showed up."

"Well, I've dealt with my fair share of stubbornness," Professor X said. "Most of my students are hard headed and a colleague of mine too."

Hawks chuckles hearing this, then he composed himself as he asked. "What have you been doing and why now of all times show up?"

Professor sighs. "Well, I've been running this institution for those who are gifted," Professor began.

"Over the years I would look for those who's powers awaken and bring them to the mansion. A few of my students couldn't came due to school. The other two got permission. As why show up now? Well this was a trip for me and my students both, while the others were to learn more about their gifts I was to catch up with an old friend, and check up rumor about well you, which I didn't expect to be true, that you my son were alive."

"You were coming here to looking for me, why didn't tell me right a way, you said you were shocked!"

"Calm down, you have the right to be upset but I am, in shock just like you, after all I didn't meet up with my friend, but found out by same person as you, hearing you were alive, and that I was talking with you earlier, even now. I am relived and happy. This whole trip has turned out very different from what I expected and in a good way."

"Sorry I snapped at you so, uh." Hawks rubs the back of his neck. "What do I call you now? Your my dad and seams weird saying father and dad out loud, he-he, I guess I never really had a proper father around besides the pro hero Endeavor who I look up to. So, finally getting to meet you, my real father it's sorta a punch in the gut if you know what I mean. Knocks the wind right out of ya."

"Keigo, you can call me whatever makes you feel comfortable. It is very overwhelming finding someone who never knew exist or thought was long gone. Just give yourself time and call me whatever you desire whether it's dad, father or Professor I don't mind."

Hawks froze looking at him. Lowering his hand he nodded his head. First time in long time since I heard some address me like that, it's shocking and weird.

He looked out the window and at the clock too. He wanted to keep talking with his dad but...

"Something the matter?" Professor X asked noticing he was distracted.

"Well... uh, actually would you like to come with me on an investigation mission? I mean you don't have to, just give us more time to.."

Professor X looks over at Hawks. He looked serious as he spoke. "I don't see why not," he finally agrees with the pro hero.

Hawks smiles.

"Through I need to let the others know, what is going on."

"Fine with me," Hawks said shrugged. He was just glad to have his father tagalong with him. It be good for both of them after all.

. **** **** ***. **.

An alarm cry from a crow rang out through the nearly silent woods. As Hawks and Professor X made their way through the woods near the abandon part of the town.

"So, where are going?" Professor X asked.

"To this abandon building not far from here, there rumors about it being a hot spot from the Legue and their science experimental creatures."

"I see, what have you figured of then? I can tell you have theories." Professor said glancing over at Hawks.

"Yeah, a lot and many of them have yet to be proven right. Let's just say, these creature sighting might all but be some people scaring each other trying to create fear. Though yet again, the Legue been active and until today there hasn't been any sight of creatures, now the stakes are even higher. Which means times like these are critical and everyone needs to be on high alert." Hawks stopped and looked up at the sky.

"Thinking of flying?" Professor X asked.

"Heh, you can tell, " he said.

"If wish to scout ahead, be my guest." Professor offered him.

Hawks watched a bird flew off its cry rang out as it vanished into the trees ahead."Can't really, but I still wish."

"Well, then lets keep moving. it second-best option then."

As they went deeper, Hawks occasionally help Professor whenever his wheelchair got stuck.

Hawks crouched running his hands over something on the ground. "What did you find?" Professor X asked.

"Claw marks," Hawks said moving his hand back to show the long gashes in the ground. Where something was torn away leaving the wounds to the forest floor.

"Those look fresh, do you think whatever causes them is still here?" Professor X asked him.

"It very well might be, though they don't look the brightest they are strong and aren't easy to foes to take down." Hawks looked around as he spoke. Trying to see if he could find it still. If there a Nonu here could spell trouble for us. Especially since I can't fly us away right now.

'Let's keep going we'll just to be cautious," Hawks said standing back up.

Professor X nodded his head in agreement. They began to make their way cautiously through the woods. Unware of eyes watching them from the shadows.

. **** **** ***. **.

"So, these things do they have a name?" Professor X asked referring to the creature that attacked them earlier that day. "From what I can tell it wasn't human anymore."

"They are called Nomu,"

"Nomu, strange name, after all it means no brain, though the one attacked clearly had one. Begs the question why give them that name?"

"That true why call them that though from we have gathered. It seams they were experiments of someone from Legue of villains. We were able to find one of the labs which confirmed what we had thought, and that it had more then just one of them in it but, dozen or so," Hawks said.

"When did they start showing up?"

Hawks frown. "Pretty recently they been seen a bit more often especially after Kamino Incident, which was also was All Might's last fight before he retired," he said. "Since all us heroes have been busy trying to keep the peace while figuring out where the Legue is hiding and clues to where more of these Nomu are being kept."

"So, they took up the opportunity to strike. While the one who could stop them was no longer around to aid the city. Sounds like they know what they're doing."

Hawks nodded in agreement. He was about speak when he heard something snap ahead. Curious he began to walk forwards slowly with Professor following.

"Eh, looks like I took us the wrong way," Hawks chuckled as they came to a rocky cave opening. I must have followed those marks subconsciously. But still something feels off.

"Sorry, but are you up for quick detour Pro- er, dad?" He asked looking over at Professor X. Man this going be hard to get use to.

"That's quiet alright," Professor said. "By that look you have something peaked your interest."

. **** **** ***. **.

Hawks lead the way into the cave. It wasn't big yet after awhile the two split off heading different directions seeing where it would lead.

Hawks walked down the path way his hand traces a new set of claw marks on the ground. They looked just as fresh as the last ones. This could be bad. I don't have any way to fight well in here . "The tracks look to be heading out not in maybe we're in luck this time and- AGH!"

Hawks yelped as a sharp bullet like pain hit him. Staggering he then fell to his to his knees as a blinding light engulfed him causing him to raise a hand to shield his eyes.
