Chapter 5 Flee
"So my hunch was right." Said a burly dark haired and skin man. He had throns of different sizes coming from his arms and legs. "Hawks resemble Reiko way too much."
"Indeed. I just can't believe it didn't notices earlier. And a heads up would have been helpful though Daisuke. About the DNA test you wanted to run."
Professor X and Daisuke Hoshiko sat in café in across the street from the hotel. The two sat in the back away from view of windows and everyone else in the small slightly busy café they were at .The man wore black and white suit professional look to him, black glasses pushed up on top of his head.
"Oh I could have given heads up, but that would draw unwanted attention. Plus getting DNA from Hawks is tricky he works with HPSC and they like to keep hush." Daisuke said.
Professor x sighs, "so you rope Recovery Girl to help you out."
The burly man nods. "Yes, I did. How things go when you two meet? By sound of things, both you and Hawks have talked.
"Well…"

Hawks woke up in an empty bed with a start. Scanning the room for the Professor or the scary-looking man.
Seeing no one, he clung tightly to his doll. "They always leave me, I guess it's really just you and me."
"Easy there kid."
Hawks turns to see the scary-looking man from before sitting in a chair reading a newspaper. "No one's left you, Professor X is next door with others."
Hawks' body tensed, hearing his voice. As both fear and relief rushed through him. Dropping his Endeavor doll, he ran to the comfort of the scary man crying.
Startled as the boy latched onto his leg. Logan grunts as he runs a hand through his hair, sighing. I didn't sign up for this.
"Hey, kid. Calm down, will ya. How about we go see the others?" He said putting the paper down and looked to meet Hawks' tear-filled eyes. The boy sniffs and rubs his eyes.

As the X-Men, Professor X and kid Hawks entered the classroom. All the students were in small groups here and there. A few of students of class 1A noticed the X-Men and kid Hawks race over to them and greeted them.
"Who's the kid?"
"Awe he looks so cute."
"He looks just like a mini Hawks."
"Look at those wings so small and fluffy."
Hawks stiffens as they try crowd him. Yet watched as glasses wearing teen pushes all back. He nearly relax until a green haired teen knelt down in front of him.
"Hi I'm Izuku Miydoria. Your name?" He asked Hawks.
Hawks looks down hugs his doll quite voice replies. "Keigo.."
Izuku looks Hawks over, small triangles and eyes. It couldn't be. He than smiles, "Keigo, do you like Endeavor?" He could the boy was spooked he was acting little like Eri.
Hawks nods smile lightly. "Yeah, he saved me. I want be a hero like him."
Izuku open mouth speak again was cut off.
"What's all the racket about shouldn't you all be in your seats?" Aizawa asked appearing at the door. They scramble to their seats as a few wave to Scott and Jean. The older teens walked over.
Professor X, Hank, Logan and Storm were in their own conversation near front with Hawks standing quietly by.
Hawks could catch bits and pieces. What do they mean? Hawks looked up at them, then away. He was even more confused as it was about him. Is something wrong with me?
"Hawks are you listening?" Storm asked him, crouching down to his level. "Class is going to be starting soon, if you want to take part. Aizawa said it okay."
Hawks blinks and looks up at her. "What do you mean?" he asked her curiously. "What's a class?"
"Well, class is a group of people gathered to learn something new together." Strom gestures to the students. "In this class they are learning to be pro heroes."
Hawks' eyes widen as he looked at the students in awe. They're gonna be heroes? "Are they going to be beating up the bad guys?"
"No, Hawks, being a hero isn't just about beating up the bad guys." Storm said earning a confused look from the boy.
"It's not?" he asked, looking up at her.
"No, you see, a hero's job is to protect those around them, even if they don't like us for what we are, what we can do. It's an immense responsibility a very few can do."
"But, doesn't everyone love heroes? They are the good guy's right?"
"Hawks listen what I mean is-"
"What Storm is trying to say is hero work is very dangerous," Logan cut in. "People will try to cause you trouble and you can get hurt. On top of that, you have lives depending on if you fail or succeed."
"Wait, so you're saying people need our help but don't always want our help? I don't understand. I don't under—" overwhelmed by his thoughts, Hawks' mind went blank as he started to run.
"Kid wait!"
. **** **** ***.
Hawks ran until he couldn't and pressed his back to the door he had just locked behind him. Curling up, he held his Endeavor doll tightly against his chest.
"Hawks, can we talk?" Hawks' body stiffened at the muffled voice of Storm. The five-year-old remained quiet as her shadow passed under the door.
"Hawks, I know you're confused and scared right now — everyone is right now. We just want to help you."
Hawks remained still, hugging his doll endearingly. I am scared. I want to understand what's going on? I am going be in trouble for running away from them?
"Keigo, you can trust us. Will you let us help? You don't have to do this alone."
"I-I've always been alone, no one around but me and my Endeavor doll. I have no one." Hawks finally said in a quiet and somber voice.
"But you're not right now. You have us and Professor X. Maybe you've grown up alone, but your not alone now."
Why does she care? No one ever does.
Hawks looked around the room for somewhere to hide. The room wasn't big, but he spotted a cupboard and carefully crawled into it.
As he closed the door, he heard the door to the room unlock. Looking in the darkness of the cupboard, he curled into a ball.
Just in time.
"Hawks, please come out." He heard another voice calling for him. Softer and younger than the other one. Jean ? Was that her name? He shakes his head and hugs his doll tightly. Why are they even bothering with me? I am not worth their time.
He could hear the two walking into the room and looking through the cupboards.
After a while he felt his eyes droop, why am I sleepy? he thought as he closes his eyes. Drifting off to sleep, he didn't hear them as they approached his hiding place.
Jean and Storm had split as they looked for Hawks. Jean didn't blame the kid for getting spooked.
Why did he have to hide from us, we just want to help him? She opens cupboard next to her and sighs, seeing he wasn't there. Closing the door, she scans the room. There weren't many places for a five-year-old to hide.
Her green eyes widened as she spotted something that seemed off. Slowly, she walked over. Kneeling down, she carefully pushed open the door. Leaning against the back of cupboard was —
"Storm, I found him," she called over to Storm softly, careful not to wake the boy.
Jean opened the cupboard more as Storm kneeled down next to her.
Revealing the boy leaning against the back of the cupboard, in his arms lossy holding his doll in his lap and head titled slightly to his right.
"I feel bad we have to move him," Jean said carefully lifting the boy up into her arms.
Storm smiles as she closed the door and looks over. "Poor kid looks exhausted," the older woman said.
As Hawks shifted, curling up closer to Jean. I would be too, if I got this stressed out.
"Here, let me take him," Storm said as they left the room. Storm closed the door behind them.
