Chapter 7: Comfort in the storm
Two days have passed ever since Jax got zapped into a baby by the grimoire.
Right now it was night time in Imp City and almost everyone were all asleep.
*CRASH!, BOOM!, Splatter!, Pitter-Patter!*
Tonight was different though. It was currently raining in the Pride Ring. And it was all coming down on Imp City. However it was not raining softly and quietly like it did in the Lust Ring, it was full on thunderstorm raining with heavy raindrops falling like bullets.
*RUMBLE!, BOOM!*
Loud booming thunder roared as bright flashing lightning constantly went off every few seconds in the crimson night sky over the whole city. Guess you could say it was...Hellish weather.
As the heavy rain poured down and the thunder roared, we cut to Blitzo's apartment. Loona was sleeping in her bed like so while Jax was sleeping in his box crib out in the living room. Despite the loud thunder going off, Loona was sleeping soundly with no trouble. How is Loona sleeping okay you ask? Well it's because she was currently having a dream. A fun and thrilling dream that is.
"Mmmm...woah yeah...mmm" Loona mumbled in her sleep
In Loona's dream
"WOOHOOOO! HAHAHA! YEAAAAAAAH!" Loona screamed out of joyful thrill as she rode the wave
Loona was dreaming herself riding on a long sufboard on a large tunnel wave at a random sunlit ocean beach somewhere in the living world (earth). Loona was wearing nothing but a red one piece swimsuit and her surfboard was grey colored with fiery flames and pentagram designs decaled all over it.
Loona rode her surfboard down the rolling wave with ease as it crashed behind her. During the ride down the wave Loona did various tricks on her board from hanging ten to aerial spinning like a pro. Soon the blue wave died down bringing Loona to a stop. Immediately Loona laid belly down on her board and begin paddling out away from the beach to catch another ride. After getting out far enough, Loona sat up on her board and readied herself.
"Alright come on! Bring it on!" Loona called out in determination like the ocean was listening
Right away another wave started coming up. This time it was bigger and monster size much to Loona's excitement.
"Oh Fuck Yeah! Let's get it!" Loona said with a fearless smile as she turned her board back around and started paddling
Like so Loona flawlessly catches the wave and stands up on her board to surf it. This wave was so large that Loona was going at a ridiculous speed this time causing her hair to fly.
"WOOOOOOOOOH!" Loona cheered as she was having the time of her life
As Loona was keeping her board steady and under control, the wave begin barreling down over enclosing her in a perfect tunnel much to her delight.
"Woah shit! This is fucking AWESOME!" Loona shouted victoriously spreading her arms out like she was flying as she raced down the wave like a rocket
Suddenly...
"WAAAAAAAAH! WAAAAAAAHAAAAAAAA! WAAAAAH!"
A high pitched baby cry from out of nowhere gets Loona's attention causing her to lose focus. And worse, lose control of her board.
"Huh wha? Woah! WOAH! OH NO!" Loona freaked out as the board started rapidly moving left and ride like it was trying to shake her off
Loona tried to get her board back under control but it was no use. She loses her footing on the board and flies right off into the water.
"WAH OH SHI-*SPLASH*"
Back to reality
"WAH! HUH!?" Loona blurted as she jolted awake in her bed messing up her sheets in the process
Loona took a few seconds to look around her bedroom after getting snapped out of her dream from the wipeout. Now that Loona was awake, she didn't feel thrilled and hyped anymore, she now felt so tired and groggy with her eyes half closed.
*BA-BOOM!, CRASH!* Another loud thunder went off outside as heavy rainfall continued to come down on the apartment
"WAAAAAAAAH! WAAAHAAAAA! WAAAAAH!"
There was the distressful crying again. Only this time Loona recognized it as Jax's crying coming from the living room loud enough to wake her. Loona looked over at the digital alarm clock on her night stand.
It read 1:39 AM
"Ugh! Are you serious right now!?" Loona groaned out of stress from having her slumber disrupted
"WAAAAAAH! WAAAAAAH!" Jax's crying continued
Even though Loona wasn't happy to be awake at the moment, she had to go see what was going on with Jax. Something bad had to be bothering him. So Loona gathers up the willpower to fight her tired brain and get out of bed.
"WAAAAAH! WAAAAAAH!"
"Hold on Jax *Yaaawn* I'm coming." Loona said in a groggy tone as she made her way out of her bedroom while being careful not to stub her paw on something
Once out In the living room, Loona walks over to the small table by the front door to switch on the lamp before going over to the large cardboard box in front of the couch to check on Jax. When Loona knelt down on the floor and looked into the box, the poor little hellhound with teary eyes looked back up at her. Loona could see a mix of relief and fear deep in Jax's teary eyes indicating he was relieved to see her but was also scared of something.
"Jax...*sigh* kiddo it's one in the morning. What's the matter?" Loona whispered softly in a bothered yet concerned tone
*BOOM!, RUMBLE!*
Once again another loud thunder went off followed by a bright flash of lightning flickering through the window blinds behind the TV set. The second after the thunder went off, Jax tearfully whimpered in sheer distress as he held his hands out wanting for Loona to pick him up.
"*sniff* M-Mama! *sniff* Mama uppy!" Jax cried out
Loona right away reaches into the box and lifts her baby up with both hands before bringing him in for a warm caring embrace.
"Shhh shhh It's okay, It's okay hushhhhhhhh shhhhhh calm down, I'm right here kiddo shhhhhhhh, There There hushhhhhhhhh." Loona tenderly whispered as she warmly held Jax close to her chest with her right hand holding his diaper and her left hand softly rubbing his back
After helping Jax calm down a little, Loona gets up from the floor and takes a seat on Blitzo's couch behind her and gently sits Jax on her lap facing her.
"Alright kiddo. Did you have another nightmare or something?" Loona asked her pup
Jax shakes his head 'No' as he fidgeted with Loona's tail
"No? Did you see something scary around here like a ghost?"
Jax shook his head 'No' again
"No? Well then what made you cry so much at this time of night?" Loona asked puzzled
*BOOM!, RUMBLE!*
"WAH!" Jax yelped out of fright as he hugged Loona's tail
"...Wait a minute." Loona said as she was putting the pieces together
*BAM!, BOOM!*
"EEK!" Jax yelped again as he threw Loona's tail aside and quickly went for her belly waist hugging her tightly while fearfully shaking
That's when Loona realized.
"...Ohhh is it the thunder? Are you scared of the thunder Jax?" Loona asked
Jax looked up at Loona and tearfully nodded 'Yes' while keeping his arms tight around her waist
"Ah I see now." Loona smiled
Loona had forgotten that when you're a baby, it's very easy to be scared of things, especially loud booming noises like thunder at night. And when Jax heard the thunder, his regressed little baby mind was telling him that the city was exploding outside and made him cry out of fear.
*BO-BOOM!* Another thunder went off as rain kept pelting down
*whimper, whimper* poor Jax whimpered against Loona's belly as he fearfully looked back at the window behind the TV set.
"Awwww there there kiddo. A little rough weather aint gonna hurt you." Loona warmly assured as she grabbed a nearby tissue to wipe her pup's teary face
"*sniff* Big boom scawy!" Jax said in his distressed baby tone
"Hey I know how you feel kiddo. That's why I'm here for you." Loona smiled as she wrapped her tail around him while softly petting his head with her hand
"*sniff* Mama go bye bye?" Jax asked worringly
"No no no I'm not going anywhere kiddo. I'm staying right here with you." Loona promised
With that Jax snuggled into Loona's waist and tried his best to relax as rain continued on falling outside. Loona continued to caringly pet and soothe him until she suddenly got an idea to help him feel better.
"Psst hey Jax look at me." Loona whispered
Jax did so and looked up at Loona wondering what she had for him. That's when she put on a kawaii doggy face for him with her eyes happily closed and her tongue sticking out cutely. To add to it, she twitched her ears and made cute whimpering sounds.
This caused Jax to smile and giggle under his breath satisfying Loona.
"There we go. You're a brave little hellhound Jax. Don't ever forget that." Loona praised
Suddenly Jax stopped giggling and started to look like he was getting tired with his eyes closing halfway. He was ready to go back to sleep after the whole fiasco of being scared of the storm.
"Say you're looking tired. Ready to go back to bed?" Loona asked
Jax tiredly shook his head 'No'.
"No? Why what's up?"
"*Yawn* I wants snoozy with mama." Jax tiredly requested
"Oh you wanna sleep with me? Hehe Well of course you can kiddo. I said I was staying here with you after all. It would be selfish of me to leave you alone in this storm for the rest of the night." Loona smiled as she picked up Jax and held him over her shoulder again
Loona slowly swayed back and forth gently rocking her pup back to sleep on her shoulder. As Loona was swaying, she looks up at a nearby clock on a wall and it read 2:00 AM.
"*Sigh* Damn. Being a mom can be hard sometimes." Loona whispered to herself
Suddenly she felt a little tongue licking her slowly and softly on the cheek.
*Lick, Lick, Lick, Lick, Lick*
While halfway falling asleep, Jax was giving Loona sweet kiss licks on her cheek like a normal puppy. It was his way of thanking her for coming out to comfort him and protect him from the storm. This made Loona feel touched as she smiled.
"Well being a mom is hard but it does have its rewards." Loona whispered to herself as she kept on rocking her baby
Eventually Jax stopped licking and fell back into deep sleep snuggling against Loona's neck.
"Hushhhhhhhhhh shhhhhhhhhhh shhhhhhhhhh" Loona softly and tenderly sushed to help Jax feel more relaxed in his sleep
With her motherly comforting duty now accomplished, Loona slowly and gently laid down on the couch on her side with her back against the backrest and Jax snuggled in her chest. Thankfully Blitzo's couch was large enough for them to sleep comfortably together.
"Sleep tight kiddo." Loona whispered before giving Jax a soft peck on his forehead as she held him close with her head nuzzling above his
*BOOM!-BAM!*
Another loud thunder went off but this time Jax didn't wince or freak out and kept on sleeping peacefully. Mostly because he felt super safe, cozy, and secure in Loona's hold. Like she was shielding him from all the dangers like a real mother should.
Feeling glad that Jax is sleeping okay, Loona closed her eyes and proceeded to fall into her slumber with her pup. Together baby Jax and his protective adoptive mom snoozed away through the storm for the rest of the night.
