Chapter 10: Meeting the Others
"Wow." Hawks was in awe of the place. The halls were long and huge.
"So, where are you from Hawks?" Kurt asked as they left the living room.
"Kyushu Fukuoka, in Japan, and the name's Keigo." Hawks said. Why do they keep calling me Hawks?
Scott pointed to where everyone slept just in case Hawks ever needed any of them as they walked. "Here we are," Scott said, stopping at the door.
Hawks watches Kurt teleports in and out. "Had to unlock it," the blue-haired teen said.
"Thanks," Hawks smiles as Scott opens the room. As they walked in Hawks's eyes widen in awe of how big the room and everything was.
"This is your room while you're here," Scott said as Hawks walked around looking at everything in awe.
"This all mine?" he asked.
"Yes all of us here have our own space." Scott smiles as Hawks half jumps on his bed smirking.
"Cool.." He flopped down, spreading his wings out as he lands on his back. This all mine.
"Well, do you want to take a break and rest or would you like to have a look around?" Scott asked.
Hawks jolted up. "Explore!" he grins wildly. "I want to see more of this place." He bounced off the bed and over to the others.
"Are all the rooms this big?"
Scott chuckled. "How about we show you around more then you'll know where things are and you can get the answer yourself."
"Yeah!" Hawks nodded his head.

Hawks was enjoying the tour. He quickly noted of the rooms and their usages. A study where Professor X would hang out in, training rooms where he saw a few others training. "How often do you guys train?" he asked while he watched.
"At least once a day for a few hours sometime twice a day." Scott said. "It just depends on your skill level and control over your powers."
Hawks continued to watched. "Could I try?" He asked glancing up at Scott hopefully.
"Maybe later, when you're back to normal."
Hawks frowns. "What do you mean?" He asked.
The brown-haired teen ran a hand through his hair. "Ugh..I keep forgetting you don't recall."
Hawks looked even more puzzled then before glancing from him to Kurt, who just shrugged. "I have no clue what he's talking about either Hawks."
Hawks sighs and looks up as Scott places a hand on his shoulder.
"Come on, there's more rooms to see." Scott lead the way out with Hawks looking back over at the room once before following after him with Kurt.
"Don't feel bad, they don't tell me everything either." The blue-haired teen smiled.
After a few more minutes, Hawks seen a lot of the mansion they called home. He was now wondering about alone. Taking in the place once more. Scott and Kurt had left to deal with school work is what Scott called it.

As he entered the kitchen he looked around. He stood there taking in the huge kitchen until the voice broke into his thoughts.
"Hey, your new here aren't you," Hawk looked to see a brown skinned, blonde-haired teen walking over. A skateboard under his arm. "Are you lost I can help you locate someone or is there some where you want to go?" he asked the seven-year-old.
"N-no thanks, but I'm just exploring." Hawks said, rubbing the back of his head. "I'm Keigo," Hawks greeted him.
"I'm Evan, nice to meet you, so what's your power? Does it involve those red wings?" Evan asked, looking at the hawk-sized wings on his back.
"Yeah!" Hawks' bright red wings flared out with the pride he felt. "It called Fierce Wings, it my quirk." he smiles shyly.
"Quirk? Is that what you call your mutation?" Evan asked him, leaning on the counter.
Hawks looked up at him. "Yeah, that what me and others back home call our powers, back where I am from."
"That's so cool." Evan beamed. "But, isn't hard having er..wings for a quirk well difficult? Aren't you scared what others might think of you because of them?" He frowns looking at Hawks.
"I-." Hawks shakes his head. "I am useful so are my wings, of course not." He puffed them to make himself look bigger.
"Really? They don't seem very special," Evan sighs, leaning on his palm.
"They are!" Hawks counters. "I saved people with them, Madam President says my wings are prefect for hero work and that I can be just like Endeavor a shining light."
"Saved people, that's sounds like a tall tale. Can you back it up?"
"I- I am not sure how."
Evan scuffed. "Typical, your all talk. Look Keigo was it. It takes a lot of schooling to even make to pro license here, and each state has their own rules too."
"but I thought all place had same rules and stuff."
Evan shakes his head. "Nope, only select few of us here which are Aunty O, Logan, Scott, Jean Professor and Hank. Have some kind of license. Rest of well we do things our own way."
"Does that mean you guys are like pro heroes shown on tv fighting bad guys." Hawks' eyes widen and sparked with excitement.
Evan shakes his head. "That's complicated, we fight bad guys but we clash with authority and other heroes."
Hawks' wings dropped. "Oh."
"Reason we're here to learn to control our powers, being able kick butt is a bonus. What about you, Hawks? What brought you here, we don't get kids here that often."
Hawks looks down. "I am not too sure. I can't really go home since, I don't know if my parents are still around.. or care. Plus, I don't have many people to trust."
"Well you can trust. Come on just think about all the fun living here." Evan smiles at him.
Hawks nodded. "Guess so, really everyone so kind to me." Hawks smiles shyly. "They're so happy and friendly, even Silver Claws."
"Silver claws? Do you mean Logan?" Evan asked in amusement.
Hawks nodded.
Evan whistled. "Man, I swear he hates me, somehow I'm always on his bad side."
Hawks laughs as his wings flutter. "He's not that bad. He's a scary and kind person."
"True, true. He acts tough but really a has a heart once you get past his claws."
"Claws?" Hawks asked, in confusion.
"It's a just a way of saying he's soft hearted with tough skin." Evan cracked a smile.
"Oh, I get it, it's like a hard shell protecting something softer."
"Yep, you're going to fit right in here Hawks." The blonde boy smiled

Evan and Hawks made their way to the front of the mansion. "So, what do you plan on doing now?" He asked the boy.
"I don't know.. maybe do sone solo flying. I want to get better with my wings so I can be a useful someday," Hawks said, making his wings flutter. "I want to get stronger too."
"Well, then. I suggested sticking close to the Institute. So you don't draw attention to yourself. "
"How come?"
What does he mean, what's past the gates?
