Note: 1) I can't find any place suitable for showing how and why the Phoenix from the last chapter stayed and domesticated and how Harry named it Ignis. So I will tell it with Hermione's return.

2) I am sorry I uploaded the 5th chapter along with chapter 4 by mistake last time.

Chapter-5

Harry remembered from his second year that Hermione had told him why domestication of Phoenixes is a great achievement.

"They choose to stay with the person." Hermione had said

So when the Phoenix whom Harry had taken in had decided to stay with him. He had started calling her Ignis.

Harry wrote a letter to Mrs Tonks, a week after his Gringotts meeting as soon as he woke up.

Mrs Tonks,

How are you and Teddy? I would like to visit Teddy. Is there something you need? Let me know and I will bring it with me.

Harry Potter

He and Ginny were sitting at the table for breakfast when Ignis flew back in with the reply from Andromeda Tonks. Harry read the letter with Ginny looking over his shoulder.

Dear Harry,

You are Teddy's godfather and you can visit Teddy whenever you want. There is no need to ask for permission. I will be waiting for you.

Andromeda

P.S. We have everything right now but in future if we need anything we'll tell you about it.

"When are we going?" Ginny asked curiously.

"We?" Harry asked with his one eyebrow raised.

"Yes, I'm coming too," Ginny said. This made Harry grin.

"You're welcome to be my bodyguard," Harry told her playfully.

Ginny threw her hair back and puffed her chest out. "I'm not your bodyguard Mr Potter. I just want to see that little fellow.,"

"Really? You just want to see Teddy, and not spend your day with a certain boy?" Harry said, after taking a sip of his orange juice.

"Yes, " Ginny replied curtly, not meeting his eyes.

"If you say so, " But it was clear that he didn't believe her.

"When are we going?" Ginny asked again.

"After breakfast."

Harry and Ginny arrived in Andromeda Tonks's living room via floo. Mrs Tonks welcomed them warmly rising from her rocking chair cuddling Teddy with one hand and holding his bottle in the other.

"Hello, Mrs Tonks. Hi, Teddy, " Harry said, with a bright smile.

Seeing Harry, the younger boy changed his eyes and hair colour to match his godfather's.

"Oh! He's so cute, just like Tonks," Ginny exclaimed. Realising her mistake, Ginny backtracked immediately. "Oh! Sorry, Mrs Tonks, I meant Nymphadora."

"It's ok, she never liked to be called Nymphadora." Mrs Tonks gazed up at her with a sad smile.

As soon as Teddy heard Ginny's voice the baby's eyes flickered towards her. His hair colour changed to red to match the witch.

"Now you look like a Weasley!" Ginny looked at the baby with a laugh.

"Harry, I want to thank you for setting up a separate fund for Teddy. It will help me a lot, especially when I've been so worried about money and how to raise him while working," Andromeda said with genuine relief in her voice.

"Mrs Tonks, I did what I was supposed to do. Teddy is my godson and Remus would have done the same thing for me. There's no need to thank me," Harry said politely as his eyes finally left the still red-headed child.

When Teddy finally finished his breakfast, Mrs Tonks handed him to Harry.

"Here hold him," the elder witch said.

"Yo... Are you sure about this? I haven't held a baby before and I don't know anything about them," Harry stammered. He felt more fear during this situation than he did when facing Voldemort.

"Just keep your hand behind his head to support his neck, and you will be fine," she instructed.

After Harry got comfortable holding Teddy he took him outside the house to the back garden. He introduced him to Ignis who made it a habit to follow Harry unless she'd been tasked with something. It was strange, but at the same time, her presence was comforting, like a warm blanket on a winter's eve.

Harry and Ginny were taking turns in making funny faces to entertain Teddy. They had been playing like this with Teddy for over an hour when Harry felt a strange feeling in his right hand. He didn't know how he was able to understand this feeling but he did. Something dangerous was near.

"Ginny, take Teddy and go to the Burrow. Something is wrong," he whispered to her urgently.

"What?" Ginny exclaimed, but her voice trailed off as a red beam barely missed her.

"Go, Ginny! Take Teddy with you!" "I am not-!" Ginny tried to protest but was cut short by Harry.

"I know you don't want to go but Teddy needs protection and you can get help as soon as you get there." He pushed her toward the house.

Looking down at the child she was holding close she nodded her head.

"Alright."

"Go behind her and protect Teddy," he told Ignis who immediately took off after Ginny.

Harry was missing his wand very much at this point. All he could do was dodge and hold the attackers back so that he could give Ginny time to get away.

After a few minutes, Ginny came back outside and began fighting alongside Harry against the hooded figures outside the Tonk's home.

Mrs Tonks came running outside, alarmed by the noise, just in time to see Harry dodge a Curse. Unfortunately, she was unable to avoid the curse hitting her on the shoulder, throwing her back with the force hitting the wall behind her. She didn't get up after that.

"NOOO!" Harry bellowed.

Seeing her fall made Harry lose control and he began firing spells wandlessly. He was moving his hand so furiously and spell after spell hitting their targets with ferocity. Soon, members of the Order arrived and joined the fight against the hooded figures.

Harry sent two stunners simultaneously towards the hooded figures that were fighting with Mr Weasley, the hexes hit their mark.

Realising they were outmatched, the hooded figures started to flee with their fallen companions, and the fight stopped. Seeing Ginny, Harry asked tiredly.

"Is Teddy safe?"

She nodded before the deep blackness overtook him.

Harry woke up on a bed with Ron and Ginny sitting at the far end of the room asleep. Kreacher slept in a basket on the floor near the foot of his bed while Ignis sat near his head on the railing providing a soft glow in the dark room. Harry watched his surroundings: the walls were white and they were plain but oddly looked familiar. 'St Mungo's.' He remembered from his fourth year when he visited Mr Weasley.

He started thinking about the attack at Tonks' house but there was something missing that he couldn't remember. He tried to remember but before he could dwell on his thoughts more, he was brought back to reality by a strange voice.

"Ah! Mr Potter, you are awake." A young man wearing healer's robes spoke to him from the doorway. "How are you feeling?"

"A bit thirsty," Harry said in a gruff voice, for the first time focusing on his own feelings since he regained his consciousness.

As soon as the man neared Harry's bed, Ignis started attacking him, causing the healer to scream from the pain of those sharp claws. Hearing the noise both Ron and Ginny jumped with their wands out.

"I told you not to go near him!" Ron shouted.

"STOP!" Harry tried to shout but his voice was too weak and all that came out was a hoarse whisper.

Immediately Ignis stopped attacking the healer. There were two more people standing at the door, their wands out. The healer tried to run but was stopped by them. They bound him with black ropes.

"What was that?" Harry asked as his eyes darted between the stranger and Ignis.

"That was another attack on you," Ginny spat, while Ron shot off to talk to the men at the door.

"What do you mean by another? How long have I been here?" Harry responded with confusion.

"You have been here for three days," Ginny replied nonchalantly, and before he could say anything further, she gave him a small vial. "Drink this. The healer said you will need to rest. We will talk tomorrow morning." Ginny continued in a tone similar to Mrs Weasley and at that moment he didn't dare defy her.

Harry took the vial and drank the potion in one gulp and gagged. As soon as the potion touched his throat, he started feeling dizzy and within a minute he was asleep again.

When Harry woke the next day, he was feeling better than the previous night. A healer came to examine him.

"You are recovering very fast Mr Potter. Have you got a headache or pain in any part of your body?" she asked in a soft voice after she had waved her wand over him.

"No, just stiff," Harry answered honestly.

"Oh, it's nothing to worry about. It is because you haven't moved at all for the last four days but it will pass; don't worry," she said with a smile. "Your friends are waiting for you outside." After some time she helped him to shift into a half-sitting position before walking out of the room.

Ginny and Mrs Weasley came in with Teddy who was clasped in the elder woman's arms.

"How are you feeling, Harry?" Ginny asked while hugging him tightly.

"I'm feeling good," Harry felt warmth spread over his body while returning the gesture.

After Ginny, Mrs Weasley gave him a one-handed hug and watched him closely to see any sign of discomfort or pain.

"So what happened that day?" Harry asked after Mrs Weasley let him go.

"Harry, don't you remember anything?" Mrs Weasley asked, surprised at his loss of memory.

"I just remember until Mrs Tonks fell," Harry said. "How is she?"

"Harry… I… I'm so sorry." Mrs Weasley told him with sadness in her voice.

"What?" Harry asked in disbelief. She couldn't be dead; she couldn't.

"It's true, Harry; she was hit by the unknown Curse that you dodged, but she died because her neck broke when she hit the wall," Ginny explained with sadness clear in her voice.

The moment the words hit him, he started feeling guilty. This is all my fault.

As tears began to fall from his eyes, Mrs Weasley placed Teddy in his arms. Looking down on the child made him smile but his guilt didn't fade away, instead, it turned into resolve. I will do everything in my power to protect this child.

"Harry, did you know that you can do wandless magic?" Ginny asked curiously, trying to change the subject.

"I can?" Harry replied in surprise.

"Yes. You were firing hexes nonverbally, too."

Harry was surprised to hear these revelations. 'Since when could I do wandless non-verbal magic?'

Hesitating only slightly, he summoned a glass of water from the bedside table nonverbally by just waving his hand, and it flew to him.

"I didn't know about this. I thought only sorcerers could do wandless magic," he said, still surprised by the discovery.

"Kingsley said the healers have found your magical power pattern to be very different from a normal witch or wizard," Mrs Weasley said puzzled; a pensive look on her face.

He let his mind dwell on this for a moment before another thought came to him.

Memories from last night slowly returned to Harry. "Ginny, last night you said Ignis stopped another attack on me. What did you mean?"

"You know you have been here for the last four days?" Ginny answered his question with a question after exhaling a deep breath.

When Harry nodded, she continued.

"While you were unconscious, there have been attempts to attack you, but Ignis somehow knew who was here to harm you and stopped them."

"When she attacked the first person, we thought that it was just some random person until Kreacher told us differently. He knew that they were here to hurt you too." Mrs Weasley added, concern evident in her voice.

"How did he know who was here to hurt me and who's not? Harry asked in confusion.

"We also asked Kreacher, the same thing and all we got in reply was 'elf magic'" Ginny replied with a shrug.

After a few more minutes, Ginny and Mrs Weasley left the room to allow the others to come in .

"Hey mate," Ron said cautiously approaching Harry. George followed behind.

Harry gave him a small smile. "Hey."

"Ginny said you performed wandless magic," George said disbelievingly . "I told her to shove it where the sun doesn't shine. I mean, you're powerful, but you're not that powerful."

Harry swallowed. "I didn't think I was either."

Ron gaped. "You mean, it's not some kind of joke? You really did wandless magic?"

"Codswallop," George grinned. "I suppose if anyone was to get involved in something like this, it would be you, Harry."

Ron and George stayed for a few more minutes joking and laughing before they had to leave too. Harry felt a bit lighter and happier

Kingsley and a short man came in last. The unknown man had broad shoulders, a long inverted egg-shaped face and short black hair that was starting to turn grey.

"Hello, Harry. You are certainly looking better than before," Kingsley said in his booming voice. "This is John Anderson, Head of the Auror Office."

"Hello, Mr Potter," the man said, shaking Harry's hand.

"Hello, Mr Anderson."

"Mr Potter, I am here to take your statement of the attack that occurred four days ago." Mr Anderson took a seat on the adjacent bed. "Do you know who they were?"

"They were wearing masks, so I can't tell you who each individual was. But from their masks, I can tell they were definitely Death Eaters."

"How many were there?" Anderson posed the next question.

"I think more than ten," Harry responded after a few moments.

Anderson continued to ask him various questions about the attack and Harry told him everything he knew and answered all the questions with as much honesty as he could. Everything except the sensation he had just before the attack. After Anderson left, Harry turned to Kingsley.

"Do you know why I can do wandless magic, Kingsley?" Harry asked curiously.

"No, Harry, I don't know, but I can try to find out about it," Kingsley replied with a shake of his head.

During Harry's stay at the hospital, Albert had examined Harry and finally allowed him to use his magic. Two days later, Harry was discharged. Mr and Mrs Weasley and Ginny sat waiting for him in the corridor outside Albert's office.

Seeing Ginny's smiling face made Harry do so in turn.

"What are you doing here?" Harry asked, flabbergasted. He kissed Ginny on her cheek.

"Waiting for you to be discharged," Mrs Weasley replied with a smile.

Warmth spread from Harry's heart to the tips of his toes. "You didn't have to do that."

"We wanted to," Mrs Wealsey replied. You are part of this family, family."

Harry held back the wave of emotion that threatened to overcome him.

When they arrived at the Burrow, Kreacher was working furiously in the kitchen to prepare dinner for everyone.

"I don't know who is happier to have you back, Ginny or Kreacher," Ron commented as he hugged his best friend.

"They both look happy," Harry replied with a nod, returning the hug.

"Any news from Hermione?" Harry asked to change the topic.

"Not yet. I hope she's okay," Ron looked up sadly.

"Don't worry, I'm sure she'll be fine. Have you sent an owl to her about the attack yet?"

"Blimey, with everything happening I just forgot to send her an owl. She had told me to keep her posted," Ron hit his own head with his hand.

"Don't."

"What?" Ron asked in confusion.

"Don't tell her anything about the attack. She's already worried about her parents."

"You know she will be angry if we don't tell her," Ron said seriously.

"She will be at first but she will understand" Harry nodded with a smile.

When Saturday came, Harry and the Weasley family stood in the back garden of the Tonks house, where Andromeda's casket lay. The beautiful casket sat next to the grave where she was going to be buried. The funeral was a quiet and quick event, as neither Harry nor the Weasleys or any other member of the Order knew much about Andromeda. It was sad to think about it but the reality was that they didn't really get a chance to know the woman at all. Those old friends of hers that attended were grateful to have the chance to say their final goodbyes.

During the reception Dedalus Diggle met Harry.

"Hello, Mr Potter. How are you?" Dedalus asked excitedly.

"I am fine, Dedalus. How are you, and how are my uncle and aunt?" Harry asked, not knowing why he cared about them, but he couldn't change the fact that he did.

"They are fine, Mr Potter, and we have safely escorted them back to their house."

"Did they bother you much?" Harry asked, knowing his uncle and aunt didn't approve of magic near them.

"No, not at all, though they thought that we were after their house. After the attack they understood that we were there to protect them," Dedalus told him.

"Everyone alright?"

"Yes, everything is fine. Your cousin and aunt were worried about you, however."

"Really?! My aunt?"

"Yes, she wants to meet you at least for one last time," Dedalus told Harry.

"Alright I will visit her next Sunday."

Harry sent Ignis to Mrs Figg's on Saturday. A letter kindly asked the elderly women to notify the Dursley's of the magicals upcoming arrival. By Sunday, Harry, Ron and Ginny were ready to face the Dursleys. They apparated into the playground by Privet Drive. The distance between them and number four was quickly closed. Harry rang the doorbell with some trepidation.

Petunia's muffled voice could be heard through the door.

Harry heard heavy footsteps approaching and a moment later the door opened.

"Hello Harry," Dudley greeted him with a smile after he opened the door.

He was not fat anymore; though he could hardly be categorised as thin, he was thinner than before, his body looked muscular and broad as well as a bit taller than the last time Harry had seen him.

"Hello, Dudley. How are you?" Harry shook hands with him.

"I'm fine. Come inside," Dudley said.

Harry, Ron and Ginny followed Dudley to the living room.

"Hello, Harry. How are you?" Petunia asked with genuine concern.

"Hello, Aunt Petunia. I'm fine. How are you?" Harry said, trying to hide his astonishment.

"We're fine."

Vernon still loathed his nephew and was glaring as if he was going to murder him right there. Ignis, who sat on Harry's shoulder the whole time, returned Vernon's glare as if asking him to dare touch Harry.

"This is my friend Ron and Ginny. Ginny is Ron's sister and my girlfriend. Ron, Ginny, this is my Uncle Vernon, Aunt Petunia and cousin Dudley." Harry introduced Ron again, although they had already met him, four years ago, before the Quidditch World Cup.

"Hello, Ron, Ginny." Petunia nodded her head to each of them while Dudley gave them a smile.

"Hello Mrs Dursley, Dudley." Ron shook hands with Dudley.

"Hello Mrs Dursley, Dudley," Ginny said while curiously looking in every direction to see various Muggle devices.

"Why don't you sit and talk while I get you some tea?" Petunia told them and moved to the kitchen.

"So what are you all doing now?" Dudley asked.

"We're going to complete our last year of school and then Harry and me are going to apply to be Auror's," Ron exclaimed.

Seeing his cousin's confusion, Harry explained. "Aurors are just like the police and the military, but within a magical society. You could say I will be a policeman of the magical world."

"There is no college or university after school?" Dudley asked, amazed at the information.

"We're trained on the job," Ginny answered as a matter of fact.

"Well, coincidently I also want to go into the police. Maybe I will be able to help some people, " Dudley puffed up his chest.

"Really? That's nice of you, Big D." Harry was baffled and did not expect this. His cousin, who used to bully others, was now wanting to go out and protect them.

Petunia returned with a tray of tea and snacks, putting an end to their conversation. Harry picked a cookie from the tray.

"Aunt Petunia, these cookies are really good. I have never tasted anything like this," Harry said. His eyes closed as he savoured the taste of the cookies.

"You're sounding like you never ate them when you lived here," Ginny said with a laugh.

Harry tried to ignore Ginny's comment, but Petunia replied for him.

"I never allowed him to have any cookies," she responded, lowering her head in shame.

Harry was determined to change the subject; this was far from how he'd planned this visit.

"Aunt Petunia, do you remember Severus Snape?" Harry asked quickly.

"Yes, I remember him. He went to your school with Lily," Petunia replied, a faraway look in her eyes.

"He was our professor," Ginny tried to get over the awkwardness of her previous comment.

Petunia's keen mind quickly picked up on her particular phrasing of that sentence. "Was? What do you mean by that?"

"He's dead. Killed by Voldemort," Ron said, blandly.

"You loved my mum very much, but you were jealous that she could do magic and you couldn't. You also wanted to go to our school," Harry continued, looking directly in her eyes.

He'd been wanting to talk about this for quite some time now, and for some reason, it seemed like now was the right time.

"How can you say that? I never wanted to," Petunia defended herself, but she looked worried, her eyes darting to her husband.

"Please, aunt Petunia, don't lie. I have seen Professor Snape's memory. You hated my mum out of jealousy, but you always loved her. Please accept it. She loved you too you know"

If there was one thing he was certain of after all he'd been through it was that, despite everything, Petunia loved her sister dearly.

"Yes, I loved her!" Petunia started to cry at the memory of her fallen sister.

"That's why you took me in," Harry said, holding her hand. This was the first time he had ever seen his aunt cry for her sister.

She nodded in agreement with him, remembering the morning she had found him on the doorstep. Harry hugged her as she cried on his shoulder. After half an hour Harry, with his friends, walked out of number four Privet Drive, feeling a new bond with his aunt and cousin.

On Monday morning, Harry and Ron were finishing their breakfast when an owl arrived. Jumping out of the chair, Ron raced to the window and ripped open the letter happily.

"It's from Hermione." His eyes flew over the page.

"What does it say?" Harry asked curiously.

"She's found her parents and will be here by Tuesday." Ron put down her letter so Harry could read it too.

He sounded so relieved that it made Harry smile.
