A/N: I know some of you were disappointed with chapter 10 having no Calzona interaction, but I wanted to show not only how Callie came to realize she still wanted Arizona but start to explain how and why she and Penny broke up. There will be more on that in future chapters. Some of you also expressed your hope that Arizona would wake up in the middle of the night and be comforted by Callie. Since they didn't get to bed until really late that night/early the next morning, I decided to take it a different direction. I hope the scene with the phantom limb pain quenched your appetite a little.

This chapter continues where the last left off. I want to spend some time focusing on their first days together again as a family, then I will pick up the pace again.

Everything is Shonda's, I bow to her superiority.

Callie stood in front of the mirror looking at her reflection. Turning to her left, then her right, running her hands down her curvy body, she frowned feeling slightly uncomfortable with what she saw. In the past, she wouldn't think twice about donning the sexy black bikini with a top which lifted her breasts perfectly, and skimpy bottoms which hung low on her hips hugging her ass and showcasing her womanly curves at the same time. But today, she just didn't feel comfortable in the revealing swimwear. It wasn't that she minded wearing the suit in front of her daughter or her ex-wife. In fact, she knew this was exactly the type of thing that would make Arizona drop her jaw and drool just a little. She smirked at that thought. She almost kept it on for that reason alone. She always loved the way Arizona looked at her, how she made her feel so desired and special. Taking another look though, she realized she simply felt exposed and…like it didn't…fit. Not size wise, but it just didn't fit with how she felt about her body at that moment. Turning to her dresser, she pulled out the new suit she picked out last week at the same time she bought suits for Sofia and Arizona. It wasn't her usual taste or style, but when she saw it in the display window, something within her told her to buy it. Quickly removing the thin black fabric, she pulled the deep purple and black tankini over her head and shimmied into the black boy shorts. Taking another look at herself in the mirror, she instantly felt more comfortable, relaxed. It was still sexy, more so actually, since it only hinted at what was underneath. It fit her body perfectly but didn't blatantly display her feminine form. Hearing her daughter call out for her mothers once again, she quickly grabbed some towels and left her room.

Reaching the kitchen, she saw her daughter standing at the patio doors looking longingly at the huge swimming pool in the back yard. Hearing someone behind her, Sofia turned to see her mama and let out an exaggerated huff as she said, "Finally! Come on mama, the pool is waiting." Opening the large wooden glass panel door, Callie nearly lost her balance as her daughter rushed past her and headed straight for the water. "Ah ah ah, oh no you don't." She called out, making her daughter stop in her tracks just as she got close enough to jump into the cool water. Watching her daughter's head and shoulders fall in defeat, Callie softened her tone and explained, "We've never had a pool before Mija and Mommy and I need to go over some ground rules with you first." They hadn't talked about this, she wasn't sure Arizona even saw the pool yet, but she wanted them to be on the same page. She wanted to show Arizona her opinion and feelings mattered and it was important to set the rules together. She also needed her daughter to see they were a united front and she wasn't going to get away with playing them against each other. Realizing she would be fighting a losing battle if she even tried to argue, Sofia just nodded and asked, "Can we sit on the edge and soak our feet while we wait for mommy?" Her mama smiled down at her and nodded, holding out her hand and guiding her to the shallow end to sit down.

As the two Latinas kicked their legs in the refreshing liquid, Sofia decided to talk to her mama about something she had been worrying over, so she looked up and asked quietly, "Do you think mommy will like living in New York? Do you think she can be happy?" The question caught Callie off-guard. It was, of course, something she had been concerned about, but she didn't realize it was something her daughter would even consider. Turning her head, Callie looked into worried brown eyes so much like her own and noticed the little girl was biting her bottom lip, an action she recognized she herself did when she was trying to figure something out. "What's on your mind baby girl?" Sofia shrugged her shoulders and looked down to watch her feet as they cut through the water. "It's just, she sent you here so you could be happy, and brought me back so I could be happy. But she quit her job and left all her friends, and…everything. I just want mommy to be happy too." Callie thought about her daughter's words and tried to figure out how to explain Arizona's actions without confusing her daughter more. She decided to settle on the truth as it related to her daughter. "I think mommy will be happy anywhere as long as she knows you are happy, and…and this is where you are happy. Mommy loves you so much she was willing to give up all that so she could be with you because really, you are what makes her happy. You are what makes us both happy." Sofia scrunched her eyebrows and looked up at her mama and asked, "Why did she let me come with you in the first place if I am what makes her happy?"

That right there was the million dollar question she didn't realize the answer to until it was far too late. "I didn't understand that either for a long time, but then I realized your mommy sent you here with me because she knew it would make me happy. Sometimes, when you love someone, you aren't able to tell them so you show them instead. Mommy and I weren't together anymore and she didn't feel like she could tell me she loved me, so she showed me by giving me the one thing that was most important to both of us. No matter how much it hurt her." Sofia looked up; confusion written all over her face. "Did you not love mama? Is that why you took me away from her?" Callie's heart broke hearing those words and seeing the concerned look on her face. She tried to explain, "I did…I do, I just…forgot for a little while and got caught up in what I wanted." Seeing her daughter still struggling to understand, Callie tried a different route. "Have you ever heard the phrase, 'actions speak louder than words?'" The little girl nodded, so she continued, "Mommy's actions spoke louder than her words, just like your actions, that helped mommy decide to move to New York spoke louder than your words." Seeing her mama's raised eyebrow and knowing look, she realized she was none too happy about her behavior in Seattle. Sofia lowered her head and said, "I really missed it here and couldn't tell mommy. I love her and I didn't want to hurt her feelings. But when I am here and mommy is there, I miss her too." Callie put her finger under the little chin and turned her daughter's head so she could look her in the eye. "Exactly, and your actions spoke louder than your words, but mommy figured out what was happening and she decided you needed both mothers in the same place again more than she needed to stay in Seattle for her job and her friends." Seemingly happy with that explanation, Sofia smiled then asked, "So she will be okay? She will start her new job and be happy living here?" Callie couldn't believe her daughter's big heart; she was very much like her blonde mother. Maybe that's why Arizona was able to understand what she needed so quickly. Putting her arm around her daughter, the brunette pulled her closer and said, "It may take some getting used to, but you and I…we will do everything we can to make sure mommy is happy. How does that sound?" Sofia looked up then and the way her eyes sparkled in the sun and her dimples popped around her toothy grin, Callie knew it wasn't genetically possible, but she couldn't help but see her ex-wife in that tiny face.

Arizona had just reached the patio doors when she heard her ex-wife explaining to their daughter how actions speak louder than words. Realizing this was a private conversation she wasn't supposed to hear, Arizona stepped back into the house and took in her surroundings. The kitchen was huge and contained the island stovetop Callie always dreamed of along with her preferred stainless steel appliances. There was ample counter space done in an emerald, green marble along with a built in butcher block and the cabinets were all a charcoal grey. Spice racks and various utensils were lined up against one wall, while the other walls were decorated with cute sayings and framed artwork that matched the rest of the décor. It was decidedly both very much like and oddly different than the badass ortho goddess's normal taste. Looking beyond the open kitchen plan, she saw a large dining room that was painted the same seafoam green with emerald, green accents. One wall held a beautiful black lacquer China cabinet which matched the large family dining table and chairs cushioned with a pattern off-white, seafoam, and emerald green fabric. The wall that extended from the kitchen was mostly glass with beautiful black stained wood and glass panel double doors that led to the backyard. The kitchen/dining area were adjacent to the massive living room which housed black leather furniture, a large screen tv, a coffee table and two end tables the same color as the China cabinet and dining room furniture, ornate chrome lamps on the end tables and the off-white walls held numerous picture frames and abstract art pieces. With all the black furniture and wood work, it should look dark and uninviting, but the natural lighting from the large windows and doors as well as the light colored walls and accent pillows gave it a classy, homey feeling.

Walking further down the hall at the end of the house she hadn't yet explored, she noticed the same wide doors as well as the wood flooring throughout, there were no steps and no obstacles. None of the entryways in the house were of normal size. They would all easily accommodate crutches or a wheelchair. Arizona knew her ex-wife didn't just happen upon a house that was completely accessible to her. Taking in all the doors and fixtures, she could tell everything was newly installed. This discovery along with the design of the bathroom in the guest suite only served to puzzle her more. Circling back, she found herself drawn to the pictures in the living room. There were several pictures of Sofia from school, Callie and Sofia, and a couple of the three of them which she found a little odd. Her attention was then drawn to a large frame that held a collage of pictures. Arizona scanned the frame that looked to hold about 40 pictures. It held pictures of Sofia, their friends from Seattle, Mark, Callie, and? Is that? Looking closer, Arizona noticed interspersed among the pictures were pictures of her and Sophia, her, Callie and Sofia, pictures of just her and Callie, a few pictures of just her and then, her heart stopped for at least 5 seconds. Why is this in here? There, right in the middle of the entire frame, center stage, two women, a gorgeous brunette, shimmering brown eyes, smile brighter than the sun staring into the eyes of a younger version of herself. Both wearing wedding dresses dancing together seeing no one but each other. Why does Callie have our wedding picture hung up in her house? Was this for Sofia? It must be. But our wedding picture? There were other pictures of them together and pictures of her alone which was weird right? Taking everything in, including her own bedroom and bathroom as well as Callie's behavior towards her and…well just everything…Arizona recalled what she overheard Callie say to their daughter. Actions speak louder than words. Callie hasn't spoken about her feelings nor her desire to get back together, but this…

"Arizona, are you…holy mother of…" Callie froze in the middle of the doorway as she took in the vision standing in her living room. When she picked that bathing suit for her ex-wife, she did her best to only focus on the size and color and not how it would look on the blonde's body. She had done her best to try not to focus on those particular thoughts because she knew it would lead her down a very dangerous and sexually frustrating rabbit hole. But right now, with Arizona standing in front of her in a red bikini, all of that soft creamy skin, her breasts deliciously displayed showing off the small freckle on the inside swell of her right breast that she loved to nibble and suck on, every bit of moisture in her body went straight to her throbbing clit. Arizona turned when she heard her name being called. She would swear even her prosthetic knee went weak as she took in the goddess before her. Callie's caramel color skin was glistening with a light sheen of sweat, her short hair accentuated her strong jaw and delectable, kissable, neck, her beautifully toned arms extended from the dark purple and black swim top that showed just enough cleavage to entice, and her long, sexy, muscular legs extended from the tight material of the black boy shorts. Her thoughts the first time she ever laid eyes on this woman 10 years ago still rang true today, Calliope Torres was hot, dirty hot, sex on a stick hot. Arizona was almost certain even the pool water couldn't make her as wet as she was right at that moment. Opening her mouth to say something, all that came out was, "Holy shit!" Snapping from her lust induced haze, Callie stuttered, "Coming…uh you…are you…umm…damn." Shaking her head and trying again, she asked, "Are you coming?" Still staring, without thinking about what she was saying, Arizona muttered, "Just about." Hearing the low moan from her ex-wife, Arizona realized she said that out loud. Rather than be embarrassed by it, she sauntered past the Latina and asked over her shoulder, "Are you coming Calliope?" She laughed out loud when she heard, "pretty sure I just did" from behind her.

After going over their rules for the pool and convincing their daughter to wear her life jacket, at least until they felt comfortable with her swimming skills, the two women sat on the edge of the pool watching their daughter as she slowly became more comfortable in the water. "You'd think we rehearsed that." Callie said as she leaned back on her arms enjoying the feel of the hot sun on her skin. Arizona leaned forward and cupped some water in her hands to wet her arms and legs. She chuckled and added, "yeah we did pretty well. We make a good team." Callie hummed in agreement mystified by her ex-wife's actions, seeing that her pale shoulders were already getting pink, the brunette rolled over and lifted the lid of the nearby footstool and pulled out a blue and white tube. Looking over at the movement, Arizona's breath hitched as she saw that sumptuous ass in all its glory right in front of her. Gripping the side of the pool so she didn't reach out and touch it, or swat it, or hell, bite it, she looked up to see what her ex-wife was doing. Sitting up once again, Callie saw that Arizona was looking at her intently, she swallowed the lump in her throat and lifted the tube and said, "You're starting to burn already." Nodding slightly, in agreement, approval, she wasn't sure what, Arizona just gripped the side of the pool tighter. This was going to be torture. She watched as her ex-wife opened the lid, squirted the creamy white substance into her palm and rubbed her hands together. She closed her eyes when she felt those strong hands begin to massage the cool lotion into her heated shoulders. Lowering her head, she allowed herself to enjoy the feel of those hands as they caressed her arms, shoulders, and back making sure the lotion was absorbed into her skin. She couldn't hold back the moan as those talented hands reached her lower back just above her ass. Suddenly feeling cool air on her back, Arizona looked up just in time to see long tan legs pass over her head as Callie dove straight into the deep end. She was only confused about the abrupt action for a moment until her ex-wife surfaced once again and she caught a glimpse of those gorgeous eyes nearly black with desire.

Deciding she could use some relief as well, Arizona scooted forward and carefully lowered herself into the pool. Except for physical therapy, she hadn't done any sort of swimming in nearly seven years so she was slightly nervous. Once she got her foot on the ground and got used to the lack of resistance from her residual limb, she felt much more confident. She didn't really have a need for it in Seattle, but now that she was here and Callie had a pool, she should probably look into an aquatic prosthetic. She didn't mind not having her shortened limb covered around her family, not anymore anyway, but she wasn't sure she would be comfortable if anyone else came around. She was sure Callie could lead her in the direction of a good prosthetist. Making her way around the side of the pool, she started to get braver and ventured away from the edge. Callie stood on the opposite side of the pool and watched as her ex-wife slowly slid in and started to get more comfortable. She made herself keep her distance and not hover. She felt confident that after this morning her assistance would be accepted, but she knew this was something Arizona needed to try on her own first. She smiled as their daughter approached her and together they dunked their heads, bobbed up and down and moved around the shallow end holding hands. She remembered Arizona's words from the parking lot about how Sofia is helping her come out of her shell and feel more comfortable. She could see that now, how her daughter never treated her differently, how she just accepted her for who she was. Sofia was too young to even remember her mommy with two legs, so this is all she's known. With that thought, something she couldn't quite place rested on the outskirts of her mind, but she didn't have time to think about it as she watched Arizona take a deep breath and dive under the water. She held her breath and followed the figure as it moved gracefully beneath the surface. It wasn't until Arizona popped up right in front of her and she felt two hands grip her shoulders tightly that she released that breath. "I did it! Callie! I can swim!" "You did it mommy!" Sofia called out and clapped her hands. Callie laughed out loud and wrapped one arm around her slender waist holding onto the ledge with the other. Pulling the blonde closer, she could feel the smile splitting her face as she cheered with her. "Oh my god Arizona! I'm so proud of you." Seeing that dimpled smile aimed directly at her, those eyes twinkling with pride, Callie felt that flip in her heart for the second time today.

So focused on what she just did, Arizona missed the glint of mischief in dark brown eyes and didn't realize that not one but two arms were wrapped around her waist until it was too late and she was submerged under water with her ex-wife. Before panic could set in, the two were breaking the surface once again. While she sputtered for breath, Callie was laughing at her expression. She squealed out, "Calliope Iphigenia Torres! You are dead!" Holding those muscular shoulders tight, she pulled herself out of the water and rested all her weight on the other woman taking satisfaction in the shocked expression as black hair was submerged under water once again. Quickly letting go, she scrambled to the other side of the pool where she thought she was safe. "Oh no you don't, you can't get away that quickly." Callie yelled and in much the same way as Arizona did, she dove under the water and popped up right in front of her. Both women were laughing now and as blue eyes met brown, a silent message was passed between them. This, right here, celebrating Arizona gaining back another small piece of her life is how it should have been. They didn't celebrate her first steps, first day back at work, first surgery. It was all taboo. But time has passed, wounds have healed and just maybe, everything won't be about the leg anymore. Smiling sweetly, Arizona offered her hand, "Truce?" Looking down, Callie couldn't help but think that word had double meaning in this instance and carefully took the offered hand. She was shocked when she was pulled forward to receive a smacking kiss on the lips.

Another hour or two passed as the little family continued laughing and splashing in the pool and the two women took multiple opportunities to touch and brush up against each other. After changing their clothes, they shared a light lunch, took a more in-depth tour of the house and yard, and just spent time as a family. Sofia and Arizona both acted like kids in a candy store and Callie was excited that all her hard work paid off in making her family happy. Over a dinner of chicken that Callie cooked on the grill, Arizona's special baked macaroni and cheese, and a salad meticulously put together by Sofia, the three sat on the patio sharing the high-points of what was happening in each of their lives. They agreed to enroll Sofia in summer camp which started next week and decided to spend the next few days taking Arizona on a tour of the surrounding area as well as make a trip to the city to show her all the places they knew she would love. After dinner, Sofia wanted to play with her toys and Callie insisted she clean up the kitchen while Arizona tried to track down her belongings that should be arriving later that evening or in the morning.

Finally getting a moment alone, Callie tried to gather her thoughts. She has spent so much time and effort in healing and finding out who she was again and like she was sure she would, she realized at the end of her journey she still loved Arizona and needed her in her life. Jesus, she renovated her whole house with that idea in mind and spent the last several months stewing over how to get what she wanted and chickening out at the last minute. But Arizona was here now and surely she has picked up on the fact that Callie didn't buy this house just for herself. She knew she had to talk to Arizona, tell her everything that was on her mind, but she was scared to death. Over the last month of texts and conversations and not even spending a whole day together, she understood she was quickly falling in love with her ex-wife again. She knew her ex-wife loved her, knew the attraction was there, but could she fall in love with her again after everything? Would she allow herself to fall in love with Callie again? Or would she run from her feelings like she often did? Callie knew the only way she could be certain was to talk to the blonde. But first, she needed a little liquid courage. Deciding to make them a special treat to help wash down the conversation, Callie pulled out her blender and set to work while trying to form the words she wanted to say. Little did she know, her ex-wife was having the same internal musings on the other side of the house.

Arizona was pacing the guest room that contained everything she ever dreamed of in a bedroom. As she reached the door, she glanced into the en-suite that was surely built for her and shook her head in disbelief. This house, the plane, the touching, shy looks, blatant staring, and those oh so sexy kisses had her in a tail-spin. What the hell does this mean? She knows what she wants it to mean. She knows what it looks like, but Callie hasn't said a damn word. She invited her to stay here, but she didn't say how long. Other than saying she missed kissing her, she hasn't even hinted at how she was feeling or what she was thinking. Every day that passed with the flirting and touching and family time, she knew she was going to fall deeper and deeper in love with Callie. Oh god! She was falling in love with Callie Torres all over again. Stopping to take a deep breath, she plopped on the bed and threw herself backward. What if Callie didn't feel the same way? What if she was just excited to have them here and was showing her gratitude for Arizona bringing her daughter back? What if…damn…what if she DID feel the same way? What if after all this time Callie realized she still loved her, or was starting to fall in love with her again? Could they do this again? Would she…would either one of them be able to survive if it fell apart? Would Sofia? She had no idea, but what she did know was she couldn't stew about it any longer. Hopping off the bed, she rushed to the door and swung it open almost running smack into her ex-wife.

"We need to talk." They both said at the same time.
