Beauty & The Beast: A D-Rank Mission

Chapter 14

"Sasuke?"

He sighed. "Just leave me alone, Naruto."

Naruto paused, wringing his hands as he stood next to the stoic raven. He had found Sasuke sitting on a hill that looked out at a large forest and a wide horizon. His eyes didn't seem to see it though- he had a far away look, like he was deep in thought.

Naruto ignored his dismissal of him and sat down, wondering where to start.

Sasuke gritted his teeth. "I thought I told you to leave."

"I want to apologize" Naruto said quietly, feeling uncomfortable owning up to a mistake, and to Sasuke of all people. Showing any kind of weakness in front of the Uchiha was usually something he came to regret later.

"I shouldn't have.." he cleared his throat. "It was.. I should've-"

"You suck at apologizing."

Naruto's eyebrow twitched. "I'm trying, ok! I didn't mean to freak you out, and I feel bad!"

Sasuke sighed again and dropped his chin on folded hands. He turned his head to look over at Naruto past the curtain of dark hair that swept across his face.

"Do you really not see any of it?"

Naruto truly looked confused. "Any of what..?"

"Why the shit you say, everything that just happened- why it bothers me?"

Naruto looked away. "Well I'm sorry I'm such a fucking nuisance to you."

"Ughh- that's not what I mean. God, are you really this goddamn oblivious?"

"You're the one who's always so damn quiet and moody. If you have a problem with me, why don't you just come out and say it?!"

Sasuke's eyes darkened. "Because I don't think you could handle it."

"I can handle anything you give to me."

"See! That! That is what I'm talking about!"

"Just tell me, Sasuke! What-"

The Uchiha snarled, grabbed the back of Naruto's head and pulled him in. He shoved his lips against him in a rough, angry kiss. Naruto's eyes were huge- the blonde in complete shock as Sasuke deepened the kiss. Then, an instant later, he released him and turned away.

Naruto pressed his fingers to his lips. "You-you kissed me!"

"I did."

"Why.. why did you do that?"

Sasuke clenched his jaw, forcing back his frustrations, before turning to face the blonde again.

"Because I wanted to."

Naruto's eyes flickered between obsidian ones, trying to understand, to figure out if this was a joke at his expense or if Sasuke really.. meant it.

"I thought.. that you hated me" he whispered.

Sasuke smirked. "Sometimes I do."

Naruto rolled his eyes. "Ok, but-"

"You're really going to make me spell it out, aren't you."

Naruto huffed. "Maybe just give me a second to think!"

"That would take more than a second."

"Damn bastard.. why are you always like this?!"

"Dobe." He leaned towards the blonde, watching the surprise bloom in his eyes once more. "Let me help you out with this."

He leaned closer, and his eyes drifted down to gaze at his lips, still swollen from Sasuke's aggressive embrace. Then he looked back up into those beautiful blue eyes that constantly drew him in- no matter how much he had tried to fight it at first.

"Naruto, I kissed you because I like you."

He swallowed. "You do?"

"I do. And I want to do it again."

Naruto bit his lip, enticing the raven even more.

"I want to do that too." He said, eyes locked onto Naruto's tortured bottom lip.

He looked at him, his eyes filled with confusion and uncertainty.

Sasuke decided it would better to show him. He moved his face closer as he sank his hand into unruly golden locks, pulling him closer. Naruto's breath caught in his throat and he blushed an adorable shade of pink.

Sasuke couldn't be more attracted to him.

With a small smile, Sasuke kissed him. Softer this time, showing him exactly how he felt about him.

And this time, Naruto kissed him back.

By the time the two made it back to the stage, the crew had packed up for the night, and reset the stage for tomorrow's scenes. Kakashi couldn't help but notice how close they stood as they walked back into the auditorium together, their shoulders occasionally touching.

Kakashi- you beautiful genius, he thought to himself. I think it actually worked.

"I was wondering what happened to you two."

They both jumped and turned to look at him with guilty expressions. Kakashi tilted his head and grinned, his eye curved in its signature u-shape. "You both seem jumpy. Did something happen?"

Sasuke glared at his sensei. He knew exactly what the man was trying to get at.

Naruto, on the other hand, was far more naive.

And a terrible liar.

"Uhh- no! No- there wasn't.. no. Nothing- definitely not with Sasuke!"

"Well, I'm convinced."

Naruto puffed out his chest, feeling proud of his successful deceit. While he was celebrating, Kakashi walked over to Sasuke and, leaning in, whispered- "well done".

Sasuke blushed, and quickly turned his face away.

"Alright, time to go. Get home safe you two!" He glanced at Sasuke. "Don't keep him up too late, Sasuke."

"Don't worry. Sasuke's pretty quick- I'll be asleep early."

"That sounds about right."

Sasuke glared as Kakashi walked away, laughing to himself as he crossed the stage.

Naruto glanced at the Uchiha's pissed off face. "What?"

"Stop talking."

"Why are you always so bothered by everything that I say!?"

"There are just so many other things you could be doing with that mouth."

That shut him up.
