Chapter 2: 2 out of 50
"Good morning, buddy. You're up early today?" Kuu sipped his coffee amazed that his 'not-so-morning-person-son' is up before be's asked to get up. What more is that, Kuon is well prepared to leave; all dressed for school.
Taking a piece of bread and milk that his father prepared, "School starts at seven." He stated, Kuu pleased that his son has initiative to at least engage with their request.
Julie who just came down, "Or... you have someone you are excited to see?" She quipped and gave Kuon a knowing look on the other hand Kuu gave a playful look at his son.
Kuon internally groaned that his parents are in teasing mood even though it was this early, "I'll go or I will be late." Kuon made a run for it and escaped his parents before things escalated.
Kuu had a hunch why his son is so motivated to attend school, "I think he met Kyoko-chan already." Kuu thought, "Fate really knows how to play with them." Pulling his wife closer and kissed her temple.
"I just hope that this time, they be together." Julie rested her head over her husband's shoulder.
"I hope they do, I just feel sorry for Kyoko and the recent situation." Kuu sighed and his wife comforted him.
"Now that the little monster is out and we dont have any commitments for this morning, how about a little date?" The couple are always at it.
Meanwhile, Kuon arrived and he was greeted by his new friend, "You're early?" Kuon looked surprised at his four eyed friend.
"I have too, I didn't finish my homework last night, I fell asleep." His friend looked in the mix of embarrassment and panic trying to finish his assignments.
Kuon stopped on his tracks and turned to his friend, "Wait... homework?" he looked confused.
"Yes, homework for Physics, remember?" This time his friend stared at him accusingly.
"Oh no..." He groaned and slapped his forehead.
His friend chuckled and patted him, "It's fine, I can let you copy mine, but just this once. Okay?"
"You're a life saver, Yuki!" Kuon chuckled. Until some group of guys came in.
"Yukihito-san, do you have any assignments?" they asked aggressively.
"I am afraid I haven't done any of it last night, I fell asleep." He tried to lie and Kuon hid the said notebook.
"I think we should start making one right now since we still have time." Kuon suggested which would make the others believe. Kuon immediately pulled Yashiro out the room.
"Should we head to the library?" Yashiro sweated and Kuon knew that he was being bullied. Kuon being the taller and bigger teen than the others they made way for him and Yashiro.
"Thanks, I owe you." Yashiro said in gratitude.
Kuon shook his head with a smile, "Nah, you scratched my back, I'll scratched yours" Kuon grinned and pulled out the notebook and they shared laughter.
"Though, I know you're early so you can see, Mogami-san~" He teased and Kuon hid his blush.
Kuon quickly copied the answers and Yashiro taught a bit so at least he can hold his ground on the event their professor decided to give surprise quiz. Kuon admits that he's not that best when it comes to academics but he's trying.
He was glad that Yashiro taught him how to at least answer their assignment because their professor indeed surprised them with a pop quiz. Yashiro, Kyoko and her two friends easily answered and finished it while Kuon struggled, yet still managed because of Yashiro.
After their class, "Hizuri-kun?" one of the professor called for him.
Kuon stood and followed his professor by the door, "Sensei?"
"Can you see me in the faculty office shortly?" Kuon didn't like the sound of it but he knows he's in trouble. And indeed he was.
Kuon went to see his professor who does not looked pleased at all, and shortly came back to their class room, "So what happened?" Yukihito asked in concern.
Kuon gave a nonchalant shrug and sighed, "At least I answered two of the questions correctly." Yashiro's sweat dropped.
"I admire your positivity." Yashiro cringed at his friend, "Or is it your defense mechanism when it comes to failures?" He wondered.
"That's the only thing I have right now." Kuon looked down, "All I can do is act though." And gave another long sigh.
"I can help you if you want?" Yashiro suggested, "What do you say during lunch we'll go through some stuff you're having difficulties with?" and Kuon appreciated it. Taking their seats and enjoying their free period after the professor for their next subject called in sick, he and Yashiro talked about some of their hobbies.
To Kuon's surprised he was approached by his crush who is looked in a mix judgement and disappointment. "Uhm... can you not judge me with that look?" He asked jokingly and Kyoko's eyebrows furrowed.
"You got two out of fifty from our quiz, Sensei requested I tutor you." She flatly stated, Yashiro and few of the boys from his class instantly winced and made hissing sounds. Kyoko to defend Kuon whipped her head to them and glared, poor Kuon looked down and sad, Kyoko felt a little bad for the new student and hearing that he's only home tutored ever since is a little difficult situation to adjust.
Kyoko was about to say another word when he replied, "That's a little mean and thank you for the help. Sorry to bother, Miss Kyoko." Kuon gave a sad smile.
"It is Mogami-san, please use proper honorifics, we are not in your country." She sternly corrected him again, it sounded cold and the poor young man is now shrinking on his seat.
"Sorry Mogami-san." Kuon coughed.
"Are you alright?" Her tone got softer which surprised the boys present.
"Ye-yeah, thank you for worrying, uh-uhm... if you do not mind when are you going to help me?" He asked politely.
"Any time you want, I am currently busy with council duties but I'll do my best to at least help you." She courtly informed.
"Thank you, sorry if I'm a terrible student." He said shyly and Kyoko felt a little bad being mean to him.
"Kyoko-sama!" Few girls with a different colored ribbons run up to Kyoko handing stacks of papers. They reported to her with details.
While she was busy sorting the papers and skimming through it. "Kyoko!" a tall boy with bleach blonde hair charged, he wore his uniform improperly, he is from another school since his uniform is different, Kuon recognized it a bit after it look similar to those Japanese high school movies he watched. Some girls from the vicinity squealed seeing the outsider.
"Shotaro, you know outsiders are not allowed in our school grounds, and kindly fix yourself." She sternly said with her cold venomous tone. He was about to hit her and Kyoko who is skilled at self defense gearing up to counter, however Kuon was quick and the first to hit the bleach blonde boy straight on the face which shocked Kyoko.
"Uhm... thank you but I can handle it." She dismissed but thanked him nonetheless.
"I know, but I was raised by my parents to respect women and their boundaries." He said in all serious tone, leaving his sharp glare over the beached blonde guy, "Were you not hurt?" He checked her every inch and made sure she was fine.
"I-I'm fine. Thank you for that." She hid her blush, her aides were hiding their amusement seeing their queen of iceberg showing emotion at the said foreigner.
With a sigh of relief, satisfied that she wasn't hurt anywhere he lets her go and looked around at the surprised and amused faces by the onlookers darted to him.
"We better call His Excellency, my Queen." Suggested by her eccentric secretary. Kuon is really interested with all the monikers the students create for Kyoko and her sibling.
"I'll let him deal with Fuwa Shotaro." She sighed, "And again, I am fine and thank you. See me in the library after class." She turned to Kuon who looked satisfied that she is well.
Kuon wore a silly smile as he responds, "Sure." Yashiro looked stunned at his friend's progress. The boys were about to leave when the said 'Excellency' arrived, he is wearing similar uniform minus the suit coat. Kyoko's sibling is only sporting the Academy's waistcoat, but Kuon noticed the tie clip and gold collar buttons.
Funny how Sho flew as the boy trashes him around, delivering direct hits, the young man was silent, but his heavy blows and stabbing glare can easily be interpreted as swearing, until he reached the academy's front gate. "Who's he?" Kuon asked. Yashiro was tempted to make Kuon jealous but avoided any misunderstanding.
"That's Otsukinoji Mogami, Queen's little brother. He's in his second year of Junior High, the headmaster's favorite attack dog and the upcoming federation Council President. He's called Duke or the Executioner here." Yashiro explained and every information made Kuon amazed at the siblings, "If I were you, I'd be careful around Queen, her brother is a dangerous kid. There were stories that he executed some misfit and delinquents from another school that repeatedly trespassed and assaulted our female students, and we also heard that he buried them alive." Kuon snapping his head and staring Yashiro with a stunned look.
To their shock they were approached by the said kid. He was taller than Kuon, cold eyes and menacing stare. "Thank you." He gave a light bow. "My sister can take care of him, but you were kind enough to help. Thank you." He appreciated Kuon's help and left. The students were shocked to see the high and mighty Duke appreciated someone other than his sibling.
Kuon was excited to have all his classes over and bounce to the library, his patience were really thin and had been fidgety the whole afternoon class.
With a big smile and his notes out, he went in the library finding the said girl napping. Kuon felt bad how tired she is. Kuon allowed her to doze off, letting her be comfortable by placed a cute worn-out sheep pillow on her side and covered her with his suit coat, he couldn't help but take pictures of her napping.
He let her nap until he noticed it was already late, "Mogami-san?" He gently caressed her cheek with his knuckles. Kyoko slowly opened her eyes and cutely yawned, Kuon found it adorable and wanted to pinch her cheek or kiss her.
"Oh... what time is it?" She looked disoriented and having a little panic.
"It's fine, it's my fault for not waking you up when I arrived, you looked so tired so I'd rather guard you while you take a nap." He gently said.
"Oh... Again thank you." She gave a small smile.
"Being a council president is wearing you out, huh?" He asked and continued to talk to her.
"I guess, but this is a responsibility I signed up for." She stared at the said sheep pillow which seemed so familiar. Handing it back to Kuon, "Thank you for this. and why do you have that with you?" confused wht Kuon has a pillow in school.
"Oh, that's because I'm really attached to this and carry it all around." He said embarrassed, "This is from my best friend when I was little, I cant remember her anymore but I guess I feel comforted with this." He expressed.
"That's adorable, you're like a baby with your blanket." She cutely giggled which made Kuon chuckle. "You remind me of my brother, he has that old blanket he carries around at home too. Is that a boy thing?"
"I don't think so, maybe we're just clingy." He teased, she grew comfortable with him.
"Are you like this sweet to all your girlfriends?" She asked.
"To set things clear, I never had any one I fancy or any intimate relationships with girls." He insisted, "To busy with career, I even forgot to go to school and remained home schooled." Their talk got deeper until they noticed how late it was.
"I'll drop you off." He said and she wanted to decline but his eyes were pleading her like a huge puppy. With a sigh she allowed him.
"You know, you're more tolerable than those mutts that keeps on bothering me." He took it as a complement.
"I'll do my best not to be a bother." He chuckled again.
"Great, though you ended up being a help to me actually. Thank you earlier."
"No worries, I was just raised different."
"I thank your parents then?" She mused.
"They'd be happy they didn't fail for once." And they shared laughter.
"By the way uhm... can I at least get your contact so I can ask you if I have some issues with the lessons? I'll try to self study tonight." He said and she was more than happy that he has the initiative.
Kyoko shared her contacts, Kuon never knew that walking with someone you like is therapeutic. He hated how quick their time was and he was currently dropping her off their gate.
"Well, this is my stop." She said and he gave a bitter smile and wave." His walk back to his own house was sad.
But remembering he had progress, it lit up his mood, especially he has her number. "Hey kiddo, you look brighter than usual, what's up?" Kuu noticed his son's happy mood.
"Nothing." Kuon internally smiled and acted his way through his parents, escaping their teasing questions. Once Kuon was safely hiding in his room, his parents laughed knowing a little why his mood is really good, Julie and Kuu are quite pleased that their son is finally acting his age.
As evening goes by, Kuu and Julie cooking dinner; watching some Japanese talk show where their current topic was Kuon.
However Kuon played deaf to the said TV show and continued to glue his attention over his phone wearing a silly smile.
Kuon continued to tap on his phone when his mother noticed his bright mood, "What's with the big smile?" Julie peeked and Kuon with his reflex hid his screen.
"Nothing, just contacting a friend." His parents looked at each other and they new something was good.
Julie wanted to press more after her son quickly hid his phone. Julie pouted, "I bet it's not just a friend when you're reacting like that!" She complained.
Kuu tried to pry his wife from snooping and pressing their son announced, "By the way, we're visiting a family friend on the weekend." Kuon wasn't interested and just nodded walking to the living room with his attention still on his friend.

Extra:
"I thought you're just going to message me if you need any help with homework?" Kyoko responded quickly when she received a message from the boy earlier.
"True, but can't a friend just say hello?" Seconds later her phone pinged and received a reply from him, Kyoko rolled her eyes and left her mother to finish up their dinner.
"Friend?" Was her short response to him which the other sent a shocked emoji.
"I thought we were friends? If not can we be friends?" He asked with a puppy eyes emoji, Kyoko giggled at his messages.
"Fine." Again with her short reply.
"Have you had dinner?" He asked.
"Not yet, How about you?"
"My parents are still preparing it. I suck at house work especially cooking, so I'm just in the kitchen waiting and watching them." And he added another, "Though I don't feel like eating."
Kyoko gasped, "No! You should eat! Food is important to your body and it supplies nutrients!" She demanded and felt embarrassed after that demand.
"Okay, okay!" he chuckled and later that evening Kyoko received his picture eating to assure her that he followed. However with the hot topic on social media with Kuon's stolen pictures from students and paparazzi she got interested and tried to check his Wikipedia page and was surprised that he was the star of her favorite foreign adventure series, she never paid attention to the actors but just the story itself. Of course she too is modeling here and there but she never paid attention to it and just focused on her academics as she wanted to follow on her mother's footsteps.
Kyoko downloaded one picture of her new friend which was his candid one online, he looked dashing at his ravished suit and boyish look, never in her own she would realized she's attracted to those kind of things. Blushing she tried to deny it.
"Good night." She received another picture from him, he was in bed already and saying good night, she blushed and deleted what she downloaded and kept that one instead.
A/N: Thank you so much for reading! I tried to edit this one, though I might have some stuff missed but I'll fix it again. Also I realized my OC's just going to be a garbage disposal guy (If you know what I mean? *Winks*) You'll notice who are the characters that I would hate since they would be disposed lol.
