Legacies: Back From The Dead and Newfound Romance
Summary: When Kat escapes a prison world and finds out about what's been happening with Hope, and when she brings Klaus back, can she and Klaus work together to bring Hope back? Will something more than frenemies happen between Kat and Klaus?
Kat through Hope against an alley wall like she would have when she'd been a vampire.
"Hello, cupcake. You've been the biggest pain in the ass since my doppelganger. It's time someone taught you a lesson."
Hope got to her feet.
"Who the hell are you?"
"The girl your father devoted 500 sum years of vengeance on, and me likewise. And the girl that forgave him on her deathbed. As a vampire, I was the one that turned my doppelganger's humanity back on after her brother was killed. You know, you're just like the monster he was. You've become the worst parts of him. You want your humanity off without interference? Stop killing and torturing. I know what it's like to turn it off after finding someone you love killed. Sure, I killed a few, but I didn't know what I was doing. I was alone. Elijah was too busy with your father or being daggered to help me. Then two strangers helped me, I eventually turned it on, and they became my friends. Now, I think it's time someone taught you how to be what you are without killing. I can be your friend, or I can be your worst nightmare. The choice is yours," she answered and explained to her.
"You're here now. Where were you when I needed someone before all of this?"
"I was technically dead, surviving a prison world, but I found a way out. But not before I ended up where everyone we hold dear is," she answered her.
"You saw my father then."
"Yes. And everyone else. I'm not a vampire anymore, but I'm descended from Travelers. I have centuries of memory. I can bring people, anyone, back."
"So, my dad…," the tribrid began.
"Alive and restoring his strength. I knew if I couldn't help you, family can."
"I don't want family right now."
"You're just like Caroline. Her humanity was off once, and she forced everyone to leave her alone, but you know what? Her friends and the Salvatore brothers never gave up on her. And the only thing that brought her back was a letter her mom wrote before she died."
"I'm not her," Hope reminded her.
"And I'm not Elena Gilbert, but I know I have similarities to her. Probably because my mom was kind of the 1400's version of a doctor. I learned kindness from her. You are, however, a Mikaelson. And you've proven destructive."
"I'm a Mikaelson, remember? I'm supposed to be," she replied to the Traveler descendant.
"No, you're not. You're supposed to be better than the rest of your family. You're supposed to change what your family name means to the world. Not make it worst."
"It doesn't matter. That's in the past," she replied, dismissive. She wanted nothing to do with anything.
"You know, it took me a long time, but I realized that in the end, Elijah was always right. Family should be above everything and anything else. And some day, when you turn it on, what you did while it was off, you will regret. I've been there. So has every vampire that has ever turned it off in the past. But you know what? Whatever happens, I'm here. I will never be your mother, nor my own, but I'm here now, and I'm not planning on going anywhere," she replied and assured the youngest Mikaelson.
"You know what? I'm tired of this conversation, so if you don't mind…Actually, I don't care what you think," the tribrid replied, and began to leave. "I have things to do that don't involve you."
Klaus was suddenly at the entrance of the alleyway.
"You know, that's no way to speak to an old frenemy. Katerina knows what she's talking about," he commented.
Hope stopped in her tracks, seeing that Katherine had been telling the truth to her.
"If you're here for some father-daughter bonding, I'm not interested," she replied, and blurred off.
About ten minutes later, he caught up with her. He knew how troublesome she'd been, so he was going to set her straight. To do so, because of what she was, he knew he had to get her to turn it back on. No matter the cost. To do that, there was only one way for him to get her to come with him and Katerina.
Later, Hope woke up to find herself chained in the basement of a house, both Katherine and Klaus there. The chains seemed to be different somehow. She couldn't do magic. She also couldn't get free no matter how hard she pulled on them.
"Oh, you're not getting out of those, so try all you want," Kat informed her.
"My apologies sweetheart, but I couldn't have you running around town, and you clearly weren't going to come quietly," her father told her.
After many attempts, they finally got her humanity back on, and once Kat took off the chains, he and Hope had a real reunion. A much better one than earlier. And it took a long while, but Kat and Klaus both helped her through everything. Then, several months later, Kat and Klaus got together.
