Chapter 14: The Squirrel Hill Day Market Festival
The next day, we all met in the business district of Squirrel Hill for the Day Market festival. "Hi, guys!" I greeted my friends. "Hi, Angel!" Sarah greeted back. While jamming out to NSYNC and 98 Degrees, we composed a Childhood Chat in which Samantha Mifflin discussed having a Netflix binge session at a year old in downtown Pittsburgh, Nicole Ellis discussed watching YouTube videos in 6th grade in the North Side, Victoria Spurnick discussed having a party with a Pittsburgh-proud theme in 7th grade in Oakland, and Brooke Leesaw discussed using her new night light her junior year at Pitt in the South Side. "We need to get some Pittsburgh proud foods at this festival," Carly happily stated. "Like pizza from our favorite restaurants down the block!" "Did Valerie have any favorite restaurants in our old neighborhood?" Mr. Benson asked. "None that I know of, but she was absolutely strict about diets," Spencer stated. "My favorite food to get at festivals is pierogies and halushki," Alex stated. "They are considered to be Pittsburgh-proud foods," Max agreed. "Who doesn't love pierogies and halushki?" Justin asked. "I believe that they will have many more festivals this year, and as the new senior class enters that year, another special festival should be held in their honor, as a back-to-school senior festival was honored for us at the end of band camp," Alex asked. "Since they are entering Taylor Allderdice High School, this will make it even more special!" Then, while jamming out to Kate Bush and Lizzo, we composed another Childhood Chat in which Julia Robison discussed having a Netflix binge session at 9 years old in Westmoreland County, Elizabeth Mosh discussed having a music-themed party at 14 years old in Hampton Township, Isabella Black discussed eating chocolate at 9 years old in Ross Township, Natalie Bay discussed having a pillow fight at 18 years old in McCandless, Rachel Luster discussed using her new wheelie bag at 8 years old in the western suburbs, Lauren Bennett discussed coloring at 11 years old in the northern suburbs, and Emma Wallace discussed pulling pranks at 20 years old in the southern suburbs. "Festivals are a fun thing to do in the summer," I told my friends. "I agree with you," Henri stated. "Scavenger hunts are also a great way to pass the summer, which is another fun activity that we should do one day in the coming weeks," James stated. "You and I have our own female summer traditions in our condo, Sarah," I told my best friend. "What are you talking about?" Sarah asked me. "I am talking about the hair and nail makeovers that we did as kids and watching family-friendly movies and not R-rated ones that one of your boyfriends snuck you into," I explained. "Oh, yes," Sarah happily agreed. "We could do that when we get home." Once the festival was over, it was time for all of us to go home. "Thanks for a great day, everyone!" I thanked my friends. "You're welcome, Angel," Sarah replied. "Good night, guys!" "Good night!"
