"I'm really sorry you have to listen to my rambling, Mochizuki-san!"
Momo apologized with a 90-degree bow. After she finally calmed down, they started talking about the Sport Festival and their respective class while eating. Aki learned that Momo is... filthy rich, even though the lady herself doesn't even aware of it. Her Quirk, Creation, is one that people will ask 'how-is-it-not-nerfed-yet', but the same could be said for Aki's. And a fact more impressive is that she's one of the four recommendation students. In his class, there are Setsuna and Honezuki while in 1-A there are Momo and Shoko.
"I- It's fine, Yaoyorozu-san." Replied Aki, slightly taken aback by her sudden apologized, "It's getting quite dark. Is there anyone picking you up?"
"Ah, yes, my family chauffeur is waiting in that limousine down the street." She pointed at the black limousine that took too many parking spaces on the side of road, "I'm sure he wouldn't mind stopping by your house. Do you need a ride?" She asked.
"No, thanks. My house is actually quite close."
"I see." She nodded, before she stopped Aki from wandering off, "Wait, Mochizuki-san!"
"?"
"I- I'm just wondering that- would- would you mind exchanging contact with me? F- For vice-representative works! Yes, for vice representative works! Would you mind exchanging your contact with me for vice-rep works, Mochizuki-san?"
"... Sure." He handed her his phone and she did the same. After keying in their respective numbers, they handed the phone back to each other.
"Alrighty, then! Good night, Mochizuki-san!" Momo greeted with a cheerful expression as she held the phone with oner hand and waved at Aki with the other.
"Good night, Yaoyorozu-san!" Aki repeated the gesture and walked away, leaving the heiress(?) walked towards her limousine with clouds in her steps.
Upon reaching the vehicle, her chauffeur greeted her before noticing the expression on her face and asked, "You look delight, milady. Was the restaurant to your liking?"
"What? Oh yes, it was wonderful, Alfred." She replied with a smile on her face, "I even made a new friend!"
"Sparks me joy to hear it, milady." Alfred politely nodded.
"RINGGGGGGGGG!"
Aki slowly opened his eyelids at the sound of the doorbell ringing. Half-awakened, he checked the phone and saw that it was... 8 a.m.? Who the hell come at this ungodly hour? Grunting, Aki rolled himself out of the bed kneeled on floor, face still planting on his pillow. He stayed in the same position for another 5 minutes, slowly nodding off to sleep before the bell rang again.
"RRRIIIIINNNNGGGGGGGG!"
"Son of a bitch! I'm coming!" He yelled out before stomping towards the door.
Swinging the door opened, a familiar face greeted him.
"Took you long enough." Monoma said while crossing his arms. The blonde wore a button, long sleeves white polo t-shirt with the long sheeves slightly pulled up, showing his forearms that has a watch on his left, a bracelet on his right, and a pair of blue short pants that reached until his knees and a pair of white sneakers.
Looking at his friend up and down, Aki looked at Monoma with disgust in his eyes before he slammed the door and headed back inside.
"Oi, open up!" The blonde yelled out as he banged on the door. Aki clicked his tongue in annoyance before he went back and opened the door.
"What the hell are you doing here!?" Aki asked.
"We told you we'll be coming over last night!"
"Not 8 in the fucking morning! The hell you doing here this early!?"
"I got nothing to do at home so, you know, might as well."
"Might as well come here and bother me?"
"Maybe."
"It's 8 during a holiday, Monoma! I. Need. My. Fucking. Sleep!"
"Yanagi-san and Komori-san are on their way as well. About time you get ready for the day."
Groaning in displeasure, Aki stepped aside, letting Monoma in. Guiding him towards the living room, Aki headed into the kitchen and asked.
"Coffee or tea?"
"Coffee, please."
"Tea it is."
"Oi!"
After 5 short minutes, Aki walked inside with 2 cups of hot tea. Placing one down in front of Monoma and one at his side, Aki sat down on the couch opposite of Monoma, across the cofee table.
"Enjoy."
Monoma gave Aki a dirty glare, which the black hair boy ignored, before mumbling out a 'thank you' and lifted the cup to his lips and sipped.
Aki asked, "How was it?"
"Better than I expected. What kind of tea is this?"
"Just some black tea my aunt brought back from overseas. So, what will we be doing today?"
"Let's wait for the girls first. You, go freshen up first, then we'll talk about it at breakfast."
"We're having breakfast?" Aki asked as he stood up.
"Yeah, well, I came here first thing in the morning so I haven't had breakfast..."
"Next time, eat something before you came here and ruined my sleepy time." Aki complained as he walked towards the bathroom.
"You know, Mochizuki-kun, you're grumpier at home than you are in school."
"I'm only grumpy when people interrupted my sleep schedule~" Aki's voice faded with the sound of the bathroom door closing.
"RING!"
"See, that's how people ring the other people's bell!"
Aki said as he walked towards the door. After he has freshened up and changed into a new set of clothes, Monoma and him sat down on the couch and played a co-op games while waiting for the girls. They chose a game where two players have to work together to break themselves out of prison. They worked together perfectly during the first few stages, but after the 7th one, both of them started bickering on whose plan is better. This escalated into an argument shortly after before the doorbell was rung.
"At least I didn't jump out of the window when the guard was still there." Monoma retorted while rolling his eyes in exasperation.
"Hey, that guard was not supposed to be there!" Aki yelled back as he unlocked the door and opened it.
"Good morning. I see you two have had an energetic morning." Reiko greeted with her usual blank expression. The ashen hair woman wore a grey button jacket with covered neck and a pair of long jeans along with a pair of white shoes. However, the usual black-line eyes that came with her, result from staying up late, was not visible. Reiko without her usual tiring look was... unfamiliar...
"Good morning, Mochizuki-san, Monoma-san!" Kinoko greeted them. The short brunette wore a weirdly luxurious dress. With a mushroom headband she has on her head, Kinoko wore a bright sky-blue dress with pink flounces here and there along with her usual bright, cheery smile that contains some mischievous.
"Good morning." Aki greeted back.
"Morning, ladies." Monoma greeted with his right hand raised up.
"You guys wanna come in for some tea and sit for a while, or go for breakfast now?" Aki stepped aside as he asked.
"I would prefer some refreshment, if you don't mind." Reiko said as she looked over to Kinoko, who then responded with an eager nod. The two girls then stepped inside and took off their shoes while Aki closed the door.
Upon entering, Reiko and Kinoko took a look around the house as they took off their shoes before heading inside the living room. Opening the door to the living room, greeted them was Luna laying on the sofa and purring.
"Oh my god! Who's the cutie, shroom!?" Kinoko exclaimed as she scooched over to Luna's side, petting her head.
"She wasn't there just now, right?" Monoma asked Aki, while pointing at Luna.
"Honestly, I don't know. She usually just appears out of nowhere. You'll get used to it."
They then sat down. Reiko and Kinoko sat on the long couch with Luna in the middle, the two of them started playing together with Luna, while Monoma sat on different side of the table and Aki headed inside the kitchen to make some tea. About 10 minutes later, Aki emerged from the kitchen with a tray of 4 cups of tea. He placed each in front of everyone, and then sat down on the individual couch in front of Monoma.
"So, what's the plan for today?" He asked while sipping his tea.
Kinoko then looked up, smiling ears to ears, "I was thinking we could go to the shopping mall nearby, picked out shroome spots for your date with Yui-chan and helped you choose some shroomy-clothes!"
Reiko nodded, "That sounds appropriate. Have you any objection, Monoma-san?"
Monoma shook his head, "Nope. Everything sounds good. Although I must ask, Mochizuki,"
"?"
"You said in the chat that you haven't been on any dates before. That itself is quite normal, but so far as I've seen, at least you must have been asked out once before. I know many people apart from Yui that would have asked you out."
"Yeah, what's the deal with that?" Kinoko joined in, along with Reiko.
"Indeed. I, too, am curious about the ordeal."
Aki stayed quiet for a minute, before he answered, "It's- Let's just say that back then, I'm not someone that people would take a liking to."
"Were you some kind of jerks or something? Because that's very hard to believe." Monoma said with a snort as the girls giggled at the obvious joke.
"Just... Just drop it and focus on what's more important, guys. What, am I going to do during the date?"
Even though the three still wanted to push the topic, they decided to leave it for another time as Monoma said, "We'll pick out a movie for both of you first."
Standing at the meeting spot for his date with Yui, Aki couldn't help but took a worry glanced around the station. As per Monoma's advice, he arrived 15 minutes earlier than the indicated time. Wearing a black shirt inside a dark-blue button polo, with a black pair of long jogging pants and pink sneakers (Kinoko insisted he wore them for unknown reason), Aki looked surprisingly... dashing, as Reiko said. Trying his best to look away from onlookers' quick curious glares, he searched among the people for his classmate, or date in this case.
Thankfully, the girl stood out among the crowd. Yui slowly walked over to Aki, carrying a black hand purse and her usual mono expression. Yui had on a white sweater that is tucked into her black-red-white plaid stripes skirt, a pair of black stockings and red shoes. In short, she looked dazzling. Too dazzling, that Aki, along with a few of the onlookers, could only stared eyes-widen at the raven hair girl. It took Yui to stand right in front of Aki and snap her fingers for the boy to snap out of his daydream.
"K-K-K-Kodai-san, g-g-g-good morn-" He stuttered out.
"Yui."
"Y-Yui-san, g-good morning."
Yui greeted with a nod.
"You- You look..."
Yui tilted her head to the right, expecting.
"...Beautiful. You look beautiful, Yui-san."
Nodded in confirmation with a subtle breath of relief that went unnoticed by Aki, Yui then turned around, "Mm! You too. Let's go."
Not forgetting to grab Aki's left hand with her right and walk inside the mall.
'After you compliment her, gently ask for her hand and lead her into the mall, like a gentleman.' Monoma said as Aki eagerly nodded while jotting down in his notebook.
'I guess this is... somewhat the same?' Thought Aki as he followed Yui into the mall with a blushing face.
Walking slowly, both of them took time to look around. The newly opened shopping mall was said to be popular for its decoration, both exterior and interior, and they weren't disappointed. The mini maze-garden they have was perfect for a casual stroll, as the couple slowly walked, enjoying the beautiful manmade bush-sculptures of animals and objects, while still hand-in-hand. Yui occasionally pulled out her phone to take some selfies of both of them under some sculptures, while Aki getting more and more comfortable as now, he is the one who leads Yui to different sights. Like the water fountains, where both of them each pulled out a 5-yen coin, flicked it into the fountain and made quick prayers. Or the tea shop by the pond, where they bought some mochis and enjoys it under the shade of an oversize umbrella by the Koi Fish's Pond.
The stroll was pleasant, but the burning sun became hotter by the minutes forced them to head inside the mall. Walking together sided by side in a pleasant silence, Aki and Yui enjoyed the cool air of the air-conditioner as they headed towards different shops. They walked into a clothes shop as they were greeted by a saleswoman who just nodded with a smile as they walked in. Letting go of Aki's hand, Yui excitingly(?) pointed at the sweater section before she walked over there and looked for one, with Aki quickly followed suit. She pulled out some sweater, put it in front of her to compare in front of a mirror, then put in back, and then repeated for around 5 minutes before she picked out 2 pink ones, one looks like her size and the other looks like... Aki? She then put on in front of her, one in front of him and looked at the mirror, before she nodded satisfyingly and waved for a sales assistance.
A woman quickly walked over to them with a smile on her face and asked.
"Good morning! How may I help you?"
Yui pointed at the two pink sweaters, and then continued to point them at herself and Aki, much to the saleswoman confusion.
"I apologize, miss, but I do not think... I get what you mean?"
"We were just wondering if we could try these sweaters on. We want to have a more... objective view before we purchase these?" Aki explained with much question of his own answer.
"Oh, sure! Please do! The changing room is right over there." The saleswoman smiled as she pointed over behind the counter. Aki nodded gratefully before he grabbed Yui's hand and led her to the changing room.
As they arrived at the changing room, Yui looked at Aki intently for a few seconds before she shrugged and went inside the changing room. However, she did not forget to peak her head out of the curtain and teased with her blank expression.
"No peaky."
She then retracted her head in amusement and changed, while Aki just turned around with a blushing face.
After a minute or two, she exited the changing room, her white sweater now was pink, but she still looks as dazzling as she was. She then used her head to tell Aki to change, which the boy obliged. As he stepped into the room and closed the curtain, he heard Yui said in an almost inaudible volume.
"Don't worry, I won't peak." Aki then blush up a storm as he proceeded to take off his shirts.
Aki then stepped out of the changing room, wearing the matching sweater with Yui as she waved him over to the large mirror. Anyone who looks at them have got to admit, the two black hair teens look really cute wearing matching pink sweater. Yui also thought the same as she took a picture of them, and asked.
"Do you want to buy it together?"
"Wha- I- I don't mind, but-"
"Done."
She jogged back inside the changing room and quickly changed out; Aki followed right after. Yui took the pink sweater from Aki and walked over to the counter, paid for the two sweaters and left.
"Yui-san, how much was the sw-"
"No."
"But-"
"It's a gift." Yui declared as she shoved one bag into Aki's chest, grabbed his hand and dragged him towards the cinema.
Arrived at the cinema, they looked at the list of movies shown on the screen. Apparently, there was this really popular romance movie being screened. Even Monoma opted for them to choose it but honestly, Aki watched the trailer and thought it was too... cringe. Like, the actors and actresses were really pretty, but their acting is... meh.
"I don't know, it doesn't look too good..." Aki commented, after the four of them had watched the trailer.
"It's not about the movie. It's about the mood it sets. Imagine, a couple, holding hands, leaning into each other shoulder while watching." Monoma said.
"Honestly, it shrooms good, but I would go for the action-comedy one." Kinoko voiced her opinion.
"Anything is better than Reiko's suggestion, I guess..." Aki mumbled as they all glanced over to the ghost girl.
"You lots have no taste in the real beauty of motion pictures..." Said girl grumbled with a small pout on her face, before she shot back, "I do not see any of you jumped on Aki's suggestion of viewing the new Ultraman Movie."
"What?" Aki shrugged, "It's a classic."
Anyway, back to the date. Aki left out a disappointed sigh, looking at the 'Sold Out' tape on the movie he intended to go with. The next showing time is in another 2 hours, and he really didn't want to go with Reiko's suggestion, so he asked Yui.
"Anything you'd like to see?"
Weirdly, Aki noticed Yui hesitantly about to say something before she just shook her head.
Hold up.
Aki brought back the image of Yui's Hero costume. It reminded him of something. Something very... familiar. His eyes then caught the image of the Ultraman's poster in the corner, and a light bulb lit in his head.
"Wait here." Aki said before he dashed off to the ticket counter, leaving a confused Yui watching his back for 5 minutes before she saw Aki ran back with 2 tickets in his hand and a rolled-up poster.
"Here you go." He handed her a ticket and the poster.
Yui looked at the title: 'Ultraman X the Movie: Here Comes! Our Ultraman'
She snapped her head along with her widen eyes at Aki, who just showed her an awkward laugh.
"I figured you would enjoy it. Oh, check the poster!"
She did what he said and rolled out the poster, revealing Ultraseven posing in the middle, and a few others Ultraman behind.
The only reason Yui didn't tackle Aki down there was because she didn't want to ruin the popcorn and poster.
The breezy wind of the night flew through the air, followed by two teenagers who were walking side-by-side, hand-in-hand. After Yui has finished admiring the poster, the two entered one of the cinema halls and enjoyed the movie. It wasn't too good, but pretty decent for a pre-quirk era superhero movie. Yui left the cinema with sparkling eyes, even though her expression didn't change much, but you could feel the happiness aura radiating around her. After they had wandered around the street for a while, Aki led Yui to a restaurant Monoma has recommended for dinner but unfortunately, there were no seats available. So, he decided to do something different.
"Want to drop by the convenience store and find what can we salvage?"
Seeing Yui nodded in confirmation, Aki took her to a convenience store next to the park by the coast in the area. They began looking around for some food for dinner. Yui picked a pack of tomato sauce spaghetti, while Aki wanted to choose ramen, but opted for katsudon because Ochako warned that shit is going down if she finds out he ate ramen. Again. Instead of any other food. They chose a bottle of sweet drink and ice-cream for dessert. After Aki paid for the food, they picked an empty quiet spot that has the ocean view, settled down, and started eating.
Aki was half-eating his Katsudon when he felt a tugged on his shirt, turned over to see Yui, who tugged it with her left hand while her right hand holding a fork of spaghetti.
"Ahhh." Was all Yui said, with no emotion in her tone.
"Y-Y-Y-Y-Yui-san! Wha-" Aki squeaked.
"Ahhhhhhh." She repeated. Aki then chose to take the fork from her, but she slapped his hand away and insisted, this time with more determination in her tone.
"Ahhhhhhhhh!"
Seeing that there was no way out, Aki shyly took a bite. He didn't know if the spaghetti was good, all he knew was that getting fed by a girl could feel so good, yet so embarrass at the same time.
Satisfy that Aki was co-operative, this turn, Yui put the fork down, leaned into Aki as she tugged the left side of her hair behind her ear, pointed at the Katsudon and continued.
"Ahhhh~"
This time, knowing too well that there's no backing out, Aki scooped up a spoon of his food, gently blowing it so that it won't hurt Yui, and then slowly fed it to her. The expressionless girl wore her usual blank face as she chewed the food but if Aki had looked closer, he could see slight redness on Yui's cheeks. The two embarrassed teenagers then proceeded to finish their humbled dinner while making small talk with each other... well, Aki did the most of talking, shockingly.
After they had finished cleaning up and threw the trash, they sat on a bench nearby, next to each other in quiet before Yui broke off the silence with a question.
"How is it so far?"
"How is what?"
"The date."
"I like it a lot. But this is my first date so honestly, I was kind of worry that I was going to mess it up." Aki chuckled a bit.
Yui leaned on his shoulder. "Me too."
Aki was surprised by the sudden closeness, but he didn't want to push her away, mostly because he himself enjoyed it. They stayed in the silence for another while, before Aki timidly asked.
"So-So, does this make us..."
"A couple? Only if you want to."
"B-But do you really want to date someone like m-?"
She put a finger on his lips. "No self-depreciation here. I asked you out because I want to date you, didn't I?"
"... You still haven't told me why."
"Why?" She repeated. "Because I just do. Do I really need a reason to like you for who you are?"
Yui's answer shut all of Aki's negative thought down and replaced them with his desire. Who the hell is lying to? Himself? He likes her. Yui made him felt safe, comfortable, like he knew that she cared for him unconditionally. He couldn't explain how, he just knew.
Fuck it. If he could stare at deaths and walk away, why couldn't he do this.
Aki stood up abruptly, took in a deep breath, turned over to a surprise Yui and looked at her with determination in his eyes.
"Yui-san, I like you. Would you go out with me?"
Time stopped for a minute. Yui stared at Aki with her mouth slightly hang opened, before she did the most incredible thing he has ever witnessed.
She smiled.
A genuinely, happy smile.
"Yes."
