Chapter 2

Aaron Ro'Meave

Matt pulls out his phone and starts recording.

"Hey, girls," he said to the phone. "If these messages reach you, please know that I'm safe, well, as safe as I can be knowing that I'm trapped in a forest in another world and have no service as of now. I've been here for about a week, surviving off of eating any mushrooms or fruits I could find. I'm trying to get some meat, too." He pulls out a wooden spear that he made himself. "And I have just the tool for using it. There are a whole lot of deadly creatures here and I can only imagine how awesome they will taste. I miss you girls, and I hope to see you again."

Matt stops the video and sends it on his and his friends' group chat, but it fails to send, just like the other video messages he recorded each day before arriving in this world.

Aaron Ro'Meave, a thirteen year old blue frog dressed in a beige straightjacket and black shorts, was roaming the woods. He ran away from home, and now he's lost.

He didn't bring a map with him and now he has no idea how to get out.

Aaron roamed the woods for around a week and feels nothing but fear that he'll never escape. He feels a ton of regret for running away, deciding he'd prefer to live with, him, instead of living with no one at all.

Aaron still persists, telling himself, "You can't stay in one place for too long, or else some dangerous creature will find you and attack you."

As if on cue, he hears something behind him. He looks behind him and sees a Giant Praying Mantis behind him.

Matt starts wandering the forest looking for an unsuspecting creature that he could sneak behind and kill. He climbs a tree and sees a Giant Praying Mantis just roaming around. Matt recognizes it to be the same Mantis that attacked him the moment he ended up in this world.

Matt prepares his wooden spear and jumps down for the kill.

He makes it onto the Mantis' head. He stabs through it just a little. The Mantis tries to shake Matt off. Matt manages to keep himself on the Mantis by holding onto the spear as he forces it deeper and deeper into the Mantis' head. His eyes even flashed teal for a split second. After forcing the spear deep enough, the Mantis collapses and dies.

Matt was almost tired out, as he felt that almost all his energy was drained killing that monster. He still gets up and starts carving out the Mantis' insides for its meat. After he grabs the meat, he looks behind him and sees a blue frog standing there.

Matt was at first fascinated by the fact he saw a frog creature in front of him, but he kept himself from getting overexcited.

Aaron stood there, shocked about how he was saved by a creature that he does not recognize. He wanted to show gratitude, but he couldn't help but think this creature also wanted to eat him, so he ran.

Matt at first wanted to let him be, but then he thought, this frog could help him out of the forest, so he went after the frog.

Matt found the frog sitting in a small cave, and approached him.

The moment Aaron saw Matt, he stood up and stepped back.

"Stay away from me," he said. "Don't even try to eat me. I'll fight you."

"Don't worry," Matt assured. "I don't wanna hurt you. I just wanna find my way out of these woods, and I think you can help."

"If it's the way out you seek," Aaron replied. "You're out of luck. I'm just as lost as you are."

"Then we can find the way out together," Matt replied, bringing out his hand. "Truce."

"I still don't trust you," said Aaron. "But fine, a truce till then."

Matt and Aaron shook hands.

"By the way," said Matt. "My name is Matt."

"So, you have a name?" Aaron reacted. "Well mine is Aaron."

"Cool name," Matt replied.

The two let go of each other's hands and looked out into the distance, ready for what comes next.
