I've had the itch to do a Danny Phantom x Justice League crossover fic and so I came up with this little fun story. Essentially, Danny gets stuck in the Justice League universe and some funny stuff happens in between him getting there, stopping some bad guys, and getting home. Vlad, may or may not show up depending on how well this goes and how serious this ends up being. Look, man I just wanna write funnies. Also it's not in any 'set' DC universe and I'm not super up to date with a lot of these characters so MY BAD if I get anything wrong, I'll try my best. Just sit back, relax and read some fluff mannnnn.
This takes place 2 years after Phantom Planet but not like actual PP and more like my head canon version of it that makes it (hopefully) less stupid that I may or may not write an actual fic for it eventually. All you really need to know for the moment is that instead of sending an asteroid down, Vlad planned to hold the world hostage with a destabilizer in the Ghost Zone. No Masters Blasters, or weird portal zapping that takes away Danny's powers, Tucker doesn't become mayor (sorry big man), and the world learned about Danny and Vlad's IDs.
Danny breathed in the crisp morning air into his lungs and let it until he was forced to breathe it back out, exhaling fully through his mouth. Currently, he was happily gliding through the skies with soft twists and turns and occasional spins thousands of feet in the air. Some odd years ago he would've settled for only one thousand feet in the air but Amity Park was a growing Metropolis thanks to his residence there. Yes, Amity Park was definitely a great place to live with Earth's resident hero finally comfortable in his heroic lifestyle. It wasn't easy mind you, but comfortable all the same.
After what seemed like ages Danny opened his eyes once more to glimpse at the – at his – city, a good thing too as he almost ended up kissing the side of a building... again. He sharply dipped to the side and let out a lighthearted chuckle at what would've been another big news tabloid at his expense and continued on. He couldn't help the smirk that pulled the corner of his lips upward at how fast the gossip hungry media jumped at anything and everything he does. He'd almost prefer an attack from Kempler to media drama... almost.
It was a difficult adjustment to say the least, for Danny and his family but a few misfires from the Fenton Family Security System (a some unhappy paparazzi) eventually taught the paparazzi that it was best to avoid his home. But Danny had no time to think about the reactionary public, it was summer! Two months from now would be the start of his senior year of High School. In other words, a two month break from hell. He was offered a chance to take his high school classes with a schedule that would allow him to graduate early once the world found out the extent of his heroics, but taking the classes he was now with double the work and without the chance of graduating with his best friend and girlfriend? Yeah... not!
Speaking of girlfriends though-
'Bzz Bzz' 'Bzz Bzz'
Danny was forced back to reality by the buzzing from his phone on his belt. One of the many new additions to his suit. It was still his original hazmat suit but the design of it somehow changed to incorporate more white and green details namely on the sides and on his iconic 'DP' logo. Since Danny was growing so did his suit it seems, he finally hit his first growth spurt and with his ongoing adventures a more toned body. Still a far cry from the huge physique of his goliath of a father but then again, so is everyone else.
Apart from the cosmetic upgrade, he gained some minor abilities. Namely the ability to keep objects that he kept on his human self, like his phone, to stay on him in his ghost form if he so chose. No more pointless back and forth transformation or missed phone calls. Of course he also gained some other abilities but most were still works in progress, like his telekinesis. But back on the subject of phone calls:
The young half ghost quickly settled on top of a nearby building to take the incoming call. He couldn't help the toothy grin that appeared on his face or his cheery attitude that seeped into his tone addressing his girlfriend over the phone.
"Hey Sam!"
'Hey you, if you're up for it how's about we get some breakfast? Preferably before most of the city wakes up.'
"I'm up for it for sure, but uhhh... this is sounding a lot like a date - not that I don't want it to be! But-"
'I already tried calling Tucker and got no answer, he was probably up all night grinding levels on Doomed again. Which means... it's just you and me right now babe.'
A blush overtook his face instantly and he wasted no time on deciding the details of their date. Being in a relationship with a famous celebrity was tough. Tougher still when said famous celebrity is the 'savior of Earth' and still being a part of a three person friend group. You don't want to end up neglecting your 'third musketeer' as Tucker so lovingly referred to himself. There seems to be a million things to juggle every second of everyday but-
"Awesome, I'll fly by in a few to pick you up. See you soon!"
'Bye, love ya.'
-he wouldn't have it annyyy other way.
The Justice League, an organization of the universe's mightiest heroes dedicated to the protection and preservation of humanity, is too great for any of them to face alone. At the moment, its members were gathered to discuss a rising problem among their more notable villains.
"Okay what's with this new energy source? We've seen variations of these energy weapons before but these ones are somehow able to hit Martian Manhunter while density shifting?"
One of the members of the League, spoke up to help put the others on track. A good portion of the discussion has been about who's been in possession of it and how it possibly could've ended up in their hands not so much on what it is. Images and videos of weapons using some sort of glowing green essence were projected from the middle of their table for all the members to see.
"I ran the substance through the League's database but whatever it is, it is completely unknown to our database."
Heads turned to the source of the gruff voice. Even though his voice was as characteristically flat as ever, anyone could tell that the Dark Knight was bothered by this revelation. Still he wasn't done.
"But from what I can tell, they don't even know the full extent of what they have."
"Waiiittt, wait, wait, what the hell is that supposed to mean?!"
"Yeah, I'm with Hal on this one Bats, why would they be using weapons they don't even know how to use yet?", the Flash agreed with the ill-tempered Green Lantern. But seemingly unbothered by the interruption on the surface, the Batman pressed on.
"I've noticed as time goes on, their variations of the same weapons change and evolve.", he clicked on the screen at his respective station for a moment before a number of photos appeared at the center of the table for the gathered heroes to see. "At first they were almost indistinguishable from other energy weapons they've used, hence why it's taken us until now to notice their true potency."
"So we're the test dummies now?", a winged woman added on with her arms crossed and clearly irritated by the notion even behind her helmet. Hawkwoman, a force to be reckoned with even without her trusty mace.
"The people behind making the weapons get to see how they work in action and get to make a profit off them, all the while developing better versions of them.", Batman clarified matter-a-factly to his superpowered colleagues.
"Then we find out who makes them and stop its production before this weaponry turns deadly.' , the Green Lantern named Jon Stewart spoke up this time, his temperament as serious as it always is, even with news this troubling.
"I might have a bit of a lead.", the magician Zatanna spoke from her place, still staring at the projected images. "When Batman asked if I could tell what the substance was, I did sense some supernatural qualities but... it's strange."
"Well, that's helpful. Magic and strange, how are we supposed to fight an enemy when he's hitting us with something we don't fully understand?", Green Arrow grumbled annoyed at the amount of unknowns hitting their face. "There's too many wild cards at play, I say that if we want any results: ignore this energy stuff for the time being and focus on stopping the flow of it."
"I do not believe any of us are saying not to continue in our efforts to find the source of this... material.", the Martian Manhunter spoke gently. "Merely, that this is a dangerous and foreign substance to us, best we become familiar with it now before they learn to fully utilize it.", he finished.
"I agree with J'onn and propose we have a team of people focus on learning more about what it really is we are going up against here.", Wonder Woman added resolutely. No other member could find an issue with her proposal and her words were met with silence until it was broken.
"Hnnn, then it's decided."
Batman's curt tone once again rang out across the League members. His haunting figure rose from his chair and called for everyone's attention without needing to ask for it. "Zatanna and the other magic wielding League members will be in charge of investigating the energy source. The rest of us will have to continue with the old fashion way until then."
However, there was one last thing that needed to be said. "The production of weapons from a new energy source... that takes resources – money.", attention turned to the big man himself - Superman. His arms crossed over his iconic 'S' logo and face contorted in a mix of suspension and annoyance. Although he didn't call the source of his demeanor by name it was rather clear to his brightly-colored peers.
Batman nodded in acknowledgement, "I'll look into that, but focusing on suspects too soon may only help the real criminal stay out of sight. Until then, it's business as usual."
"I want an update every hour on the hour, Danny.", the woman in teal stated firmly.
Said young teen in question rolled his eyes in slight amusement at his mother's concern. It was well past noon in his dimension and more importantly, time to visit some of his friends across the Ghost Zone. His list of allies has greatly increased in more recent years after having his identity outed and since then he thought it best to follow up on his allies whenever he can. Ergo, he found himself in the basement of his home, sandwiched between his parents and their personal Fenton Ghost Portal in his human form.
Similarly to his ghost form, his human style has also had some minor changes. His usual white t-shirt with the single red center oval evolved into a plain white shirt accompanied by a light red blazer, although his usual jeans and sneakers remained untouched. As for his parents... well, after almost twenty years of wearing nothing but hazmat suits, what's two years going to change?
"C'mon, mom, we do this every week! I think we'll manage visiting some friends."
"Danny-o has a point you know, Mads.", Jack interjected in his usual booming voice while wrapping a comforting arm around his wife, "Besides, the kids are Fentons! And there's nothing in or outside this world capable of bringing one of us down. Haha!"
His cheerful boasting managed to bring out an amused smile from Maddie but before anything could become of it, a panicked shout came from upstairs.
"I'm here, I'm here! Don't leave without me~!"
A red and blue blur flew from the flight of stairs, rose above the two adults, and stood next to Danny to reveal a fourteen year old young girl. She had her usual casual attire on, a red t-shirt, jeans, sneakers and a white and white cap that had her ponytail spring out from the back. Danny only snorted in response to her sudden appearance. Danielle, or Ellie for short, his fifteen year old clone and adopted younger sister that was lovingly accepted into the family once their parents learned of her existence. She fit right in and was especially welcomed to fill in the sister role after Jazz left to attend university. Fortunately she was currently wrapping up some things in her courses and would be coming back home to visit for the summer months soon.
"About time you got here, squirt.", the older teen quipped while lovingly ruffling her once neat hair.
"Hey! Hands off the merchandise, and stop calling me squirt!", Ellie scowled before attempting restoring her hair back to normal.
"And what happens if I don't, huh? Squirt-!"
Danny's cheeky response was quickly cut off by a pained 'oof' as Ellie promptly tackled him into the ground using her full weight. While unexpected, three years of ghost fighting had toughened up his body and sharpened his reaction time. So, with little "Oh, so it's like that, huh?", he tucked his knees up into his stomach and pushed them outwards to flip Ellie onto her back above him on the floor. Refusing to be outshined, both siblings got to their feet and started an all-out brawl.
"Wha - oh please - you two enough, before you knock over something dangerous!"
"Or expensive!"
"What's there to knock over? We can literally pass through objects- GOTCHA!", Danny yelled to his parents in between the struggle he finally got a headlock on Ellie and stopped her in her tracks. In a desperate attempt to escape, she finally conceded defeat.
"Ok, ok, ok! Fine, you win! Can we go to the Zone now?"
Satisfied with her admission of defeat he released her and chuckled back before finally transforming once again into his ghost form. "Been waiting on you this whole time, sis. Let's get this show on the road already, hurry up."
Following his lead, Ellie also transformed. Her own ghost form had stayed relatively the same aside from the new hoodie, but otherwise there was no change. As the pair entered the portal and were swallowed by the swirling green depths they heard one last call behind them from their parents.
"Stay together you too, and be back by dinner!"
"We're having meatloaf!"
Finally got this first chapter done after, god knows how long. Taking a break from college to work should hopefully give me the motivation I need / want to get this story out of the drafts and posted. Let me know what you all think of this first chapter, or tell me where I messed up because I know I made some mistakes no matter how many times I proofread this stuff (I'm not salty I swear). The Justice League portion was a lil serious but that's bc the silly Dan man ain't there yet. If there's any character interactions you guys would like to see that'd be cool to know too, I'm open to ideas. Pray I can keep this story going at a reasonable rate annndd good night, I have work in the morning.
