Chapter IV

Naruto was walking the streets of Konoha, the team had the day off and Naruto had plans. You see, today was July twenty-third, Sasuke's Birthday. And Naruto being Naruto wanted to celebrate his best friend's birthday despite what Sasuke wanted.

You see, Sasuke hated her birthday. It reminded her that she was alone betrayed by the man she once idolized, her older brother Itachi. But Naruto would have none of that. Today was a special day and Naruto would be damned if he let Sasuke sulk and brood over her brother's betrayal.

Naruto entered the residential district of Konoha far away from the red light district he lived in. Naruto had a bouquet of yellow roses, a flower that symbolizes friendship, perfect for saying I'm here for you. Naruto also had a bag of groceries as he planned to cook a home cooked meal for Sasuke, ramen wasn't good enough for a proper meal to celebrate, and Yakiniku Q while good Naruto wanted to make the day truly special.

Naruto walked up the stairs to the entrance of Sasuke's Apartment and rang the doorbell.

"Go away." came Sasuke's voice from the other side of the door.

Naruto had expected this as he knew Sasuke hated visitors on her birthday but he didn't care he was determined to make today special for the raven haired beauty called Uchiha Sasuke daughter of Uchiha Fukaku and descendant of Uchiha Madara.

Naruto put down his bag of groceries and the bouquet and pulled out his trusty lock picks and began to work. After three minutes Naruto had unlocked the front door of Sasuke's apartment. Picking up the bouquet and bag once more Naruto opened the door and walked in.

As Naruto entered the entry room he was greeted with a barrage of Kunai. Naruto had also anticipated this and used the Kawarimi and Shunshin to appear behind Sasuke and wrap his arms around her stopping her assault.

"What do you want, Naruto you know…" Sasuke began before the scent of flowers hit her nose. "Are those yellow roses?"

Sasuke knew yellow roses symbolized friendship and she was surprised Naruto would get them for her.

"Yep." Naruto said.

"Naruto what are you doing here you know I hate my birthday." Sasuke asked.

"Sasuke I have hated my birthday for fourteen years and I never had anyone come try and make it better. I'll be damned before I let you spend today loathing and brooding." Naruto said.

Naruto reached into his grocery bag and pulled out a small bamboo basket full of Garden Peach Tomatoes and offered them to Sasuke.

"Are those Garden Peach Tomatoes?" Sasuke asked.

"You betcha." Naruto said.

Sasuke snatched the basket from Naruto's hand and took one and bit into it.

"What else is in the bag?" Sasuke asked.

"Dinner." Naruto said as he made his way to the kitchen.

Sasuke followed Naruto into the kitchen and jumped up onto the counter and sat there to watch him. Naruto pulled out a couple of steaks with some greens and baby potatoes. Naruto pulled out a cast iron skillet and put it on the stove and turned on the burner. As Naruto began to cook Sasuke sat there on the counter watching, eating her tomato.

Naruto cut the potatoes into quarters and put them in the skillet along with the greens and began to sweat them making the kitchen fill with a sweet aroma. Once the potatoes had some color and were getting soft Naruto added the steaks and began to pan fry them. Once the steaks were there Naruto wanted them he put some wine, not sake but actual wine, into the pan and set it on fire.

Sasuke put her hands over her eyes shielding them from the sudden burst of flames but once the flames died down she uncovered her eyes. Naruto laughed at Sasuke which earned him a glare but he ignored the death glare and plated the steaks and potatoes.

Sasuke hopped off the counter and walked over to her dining table where Naruto put her plate down and he sat beside her. Sasuke was surprised she didn't know Naruto knew how to cook. She honestly thought he ate out all the time. Sasuke took a bite of potato which had absorbed some of the wine's flavor and she instantly had a mouthgasm.

The potato was perfectly cooked soft and succulent on the inside yet crisp and tanned on the exterior, colored slightly from the wine it absorbed. Sasuke then tested the steak which when cut was a perfect medium well. Charred from the flame but still held a soft pink rose colored core. To her delight the greens and wine Naruto used made the steak taste irresistible.

After dinner Naruto and Sasuke were in Sasuke's living room relaxing on the sofa before the fireplace.

"Thank you Naruto. I often forget that we're the same, neither of us have a family and I forget you never had one. I mean I know you're an orphan but I forget how you often feel." Sasuke said.

"Sasuke I would follow you into the deepest parts of hell if it meant I could save you from the pain of loneliness." Naruto said. "I know you have damned your brother because of what he did to your family and clan but remember you're not alone i'm here for you no matter what."

Sasuke looked into the flames of the fire in her fireplace as a tear escaped her left eye.

"Naruto, do you want to move in with me? I don't want to be alone anymore." Sasuke asked.

Sasuke had a spare bedroom that she had set up for guests but no one ever visited her and she didn't like that Naruto was forced to live on the outer edges of Konoha just because he was supposedly a demon.

"Sasuke, if I moved in your place would be vandalized." Naruto said trying to gently deny her offer.

"I don't care. If they attack me or my place because of you they would be breaking the law of the Sandaime." Sasuke said.

"Alright Sasuke I'll move in but I'm not sleeping in your bed I will use the guest room." Naruto said firmly.

Naruto knew how it would look if people thought Naruto was dating Sasuke. Sasuke would get hurt and Naruto refused to let Sasuke get hurt because of him.

"Thank you Naruto. For everything." Sasuke said as she kissed Naruto's cheek.

A/N: Hey friends Azrael here. I hope you enjoyed this chapter a little shorter than normal but I wanted to build a bit of fluff between Naruto and Sasuke. Naruto doesn't see it yet but Sasuke is trying to get him to agree to date her but we all know Naruto is oblivious to love so he doesn't see that yet.
