AN: Special Thanks goes to Story's Shadow for writing this intro between Vixen and Vulpine. Originally there was supposed to be a fight in this chapter, but I decided to instead have a rather long villain scene. Rest assured there will be a fight coming soon (I won't say when, or whom will be fighting) but it should happen within a few chapters, or even next chapter, I don't know honestly. Unto the show my good friends.
-Secret Warriors' Base, The Next Day-
Vulpine read through a book, scratching his chin, eyes glued to the pages.
Vixen walked in, plates of food in hand. Vulpine looked up at this and smiled.
"Thanks."
"What are you reading?"
"A 'Japanese' collection of lore. I guess it goes without saying my favorite is on the Kitsune."
Vixen laughed at this.
Vulpine took one plate, both full of prepared insects. He grinned at this.
"The humans eat insects? From what I've seen in my short time here, they are revolted to touch them."
"Some are open to it."
"How did you know Foxes liked this?"
"I don't know...my Father shared some different foods with me one day, I wasn't too fond of some of the foods in his home-world. One of those was these, grasshoppers. They were delicious."
Vulpine chuckled as they dug in.
"Mmm! So good. I almost forgot what they tasted like. I've enjoyed the 'steaks' you've given me too. But insects, some of my favorites."
Vixen grinned.
"So how are you enjoying Earth?"
"It has its charm. It does remind me of home...in a way."
The two chuckled.
Vixen took a bite. She closed her eyes and smiled.
"Mmm! So good! I wish Father's world had more stuff like this."
The two laughed.
Vulpine smiled at her. She smiled back.
"You must feel more at home here then there...since this world and ours is more similar."
Vixen smile slowly disappeared, rubbing her chin.
"It feels different, that's for sure...though there are similarities between this world and Father's...lots of rules, powerful people making big decisions...kinda restrictive in manner."
Vulpine chuckled.
"Our world had that sometimes too."
Vixen took another bite, eyes on him.
"Were you unhappy there?"
Vulpine's smile slowly disappeared.
"Sometimes...I wanted...something else...something different."
"I felt the same where I was raised...I didn't know why...maybe...maybe I have an idea now."
Vulpine slowly smiled, Vixen returning it.
-Meanwhile: Imperious' Throne Room-
Watching Vixen and Vulpine through an apparition created by his magic, Imperious and Stalker currently had different thoughts and feelings as they watched their ally talk with their yellow eyed teenage enemy.
"I must admit master, while Vulpine is seemingly doing a good job to earn Vixen's trust, I fear he might be getting to close to her." Stalker said in a careful tone, as to not invoke his masters rare disapproval.
"We've been over this, Stalker." Imperious said as he dissolved the apparition with a single thought. "I have faith that Vulpine will complete his mission–"
"But what if he can't complete the mission this time?" Stalker asked swiftly. "He completed the last quest through treachery and deceit. And while I'll admit he might slowly be gaining Vixen's trust, he does not seem to be gaining the trust of all of the Secret Warriors. Daisy and Gwen in particular do not seem to trust him. There's no doubt that they are looking for the slightest hints of treachery–" Stalker was silenced by Imperious clearing his throat.
"I agree with... most of what you have just said Stalker. It is true that several of the Secret Warriors: Daisy, and Gwen in particular are looking for, as you put it: 'the slightest hints of treachery.'" Imperious said as he paused to take a breath before continuing. "However some of the Secret Warriors: Dante, Kamala, and Riri seem unsure of what to think. Doreen seems to be behind Vulpine, while America has yet to be really introduced to Vulpine as she is off with Captain Marvel on a mission. One by one Vulpine will gain their trust, and that is when we strike. I have foreseen that they'll never catch whiff to what's really going on, until it's far to late." Imperious said in a dark, yet satisfied tone. Stalker stood there in silence for a few seconds, contemplating what his master had just told him.
"Wise words... my master." Stalker said with a small bow to his lord.
"Rest easy my apprentice. I have also foreseen that old hatreds will be revived, and that could work to our advantage." Imperious said smoothly, which earned a confused look from Stalker.
'"Old Hatreds?'" Stalker asked in a confused tone. In response Imperious waved his hand and summoned an apparition that showed three familiar beings currently traversing that endless blank landscape that was the void. Upon seeing them, Stalker couldn't help but let out a small gasp of surprise. "They still live?" Stalker asked quickly.
"Yes." Imperious answered simply. "While Wraith managed to trap the Wolf, Metatron Arch, in the void for over 15 years, his allies, the Cat Cassandra, and the Hedgehog Jacob managed to escape. In recent weeks they have found and rescued their mentor from his prison, and are just now beginning their quest to hunt down and kill Vulpine." Imperious informed the alien samurai.
"Should I hunt them down and prevent them from completing their quest?" Stalker asked as his right hand rested on this hilt of his blade.
"No." Imperious answered simply. "I have foreseen that they shall arrive on Earth in three days time. They will then proceed to gather information, and begin planning their hit on Vulpine. This presents us with a unique... opportunity..." Imperious said in an enticing tone. "They where among the fiercest rebels during our invasion of their world. Vulpine has most certainly not forgotten them. Vulpine will be in several fights for his life, which will force Vixen and the Secret Warriors to fight alongside him–"
"Sorry to interrupt master, but wouldn't Daisy as well as Vixen be surprise to see more warriors of Vixen's planet?" Stalker asked quickly.
"I'll answer your question with a question: what is the most dangerous lie?" Imperious asked his apprentice.
"A lie that has the truth sewn into it. Well bits of the truth anyway." Stalker answered without any hesitation.
"Precisely." Imperious said smoothly. "Vulpine can use his words, and some parts of the truth to twist these three noble warriors into villains, thus making Vixen and her allies fight alongside him in order to defeat them." Imperious said wisely.
"I can tell you have foreseen the future, but out of curiosity, what will be say to gain their trust?" Stalker asked in a curious tone.
"You will see in time, Stalker." Imperious said as he stood up from his throne, without answering his apprentice's main question. "Return to your quarters Stalker and get some rest. I have much to plan with our... new lead general..." Imperious let that hang, which earned a silent head nod and a bow from Stalker, who proceeded to leave the dimly lit throne room and start heading back to his chambers, leaving Imperious alone in the throne room.
To Be Continued...
AN: please tell me what you think of this chapter, of Imperious' plan, and the different thinking between Imperious and his apprentice, who's side are you on between the two of them?
