However after Lee was rendered unconscious Naruto didn't stop. The young blonde raised his clawed hand to deliver a fatal blow to Lee when suddenly Kakashi was holding Naruto's wrist and a chakra suppression seal on Naruto's forehead.
"Hayate, declare Lee the winner of this fight." Kakashi said as the Kyubi's chakra was suppressed and Naruto fell unconscious.
"Winner by default Rock Lee." Hayate said.
Kakashi took Naruto to the medical bay in the arena while Sasuke was left in the viewing area with a frown on her lips. Sasuke rushed after Kakashi to join him in the med bay and check on her best friend.

As Lee was taken off the field by the medical staff Gai was up in the viewing area gravely concerned. Had Kakashi not intervened Naruto would have killed Lee in his state of rage. Gai recognized the sinister chakra that emanated from Naruto towards the end of the match; it was the Kyubi's the same vile chakra that he felt fourteen years ago on the night the Yondaime sacrificed himself to save Konoha. Kakashi brought the unconscious Naruto to the viewing area and laid him down.
"Kakashi, a word if you please." Gai said, walking away from the remaining genin.
Kakashi followed Gai. He had an idea of what Gai wanted to talk about and honestly Kakashi wasn't sure if he was ready for this talk.
"Kakashi the Chakra Naruto used against Lee. It was the Kyubi no doubt about that. My question is does Naruto use this chakra willingly?" Gai asked.
"This is the second time it's happened and from what I've seen it only happens when Naruto is overcome with emotion. The stronger the emotion the more susceptible Naruto is to the Kyubi's influence." Kakashi explained.
"Does Naruto know about the Kyubi?" Gai asked bluntly.
"Not that I know of." Kakashi replied plainly.
"What are you going to do about the Kyubi?" Gai asked.
"Jiraiya will train Naruto with the Kyubi, not me until then I can only work with Naruto on his emotions." Kakashi replied.
"For Naruto's sake I hope Jiraiya can help Naruto get the Kyubi under control otherwise the council will use this as an excuse to get rid of Naruto." Gai said knowing that the elder and civilian councils had always shown their disdain for Naruto.

Back in the arena stood a teen with red hair and the kanji for Love branded into his forehead. This teen was Gaara no Sabaku, youngest of the Kazekage's children and the Jinchuriki of the Ichibi Shukaku. Across from him was Choji, a heavy set boy from the famed Akimichi clan.
"I don't like the looks of this." Shikamaru said.
"Why is that Shikamaru?" asked Asuma.
"You can feel the hatred coming off that Gaara kid." Shikamaru said.
"We'll have to trust Choji to know when to call it if he can't find a path to victory." Asuma said.
"Are both parties ready?" Hayate asked.
"Hai." Said Choji.
Gaara simply uncorked his large gourd and stood there.
"Begin." Hayate said.
Choji was the first to act; he made a single hand seal and immediately grew into a giant round ball via the Baika no Jutsu. Gaara seemingly did nothing.
As Choji began to build up speed he shot forward rolling into Gaara who protected himself with a wall of sand stopping Choji in his tracks. Hitting the wall of sand stopped Choji's advance causing him to revert back to his normal size. Choji stood up feeling slightly dizzy, an offset of rolling at high speed but focused his attention back on Gaara.
Suddenly sand clumped around Choji with Gaara holding his hand out in front of him hold the sand around Choji.
"Surrender or die." Gaara said.
Choji looked like he was afraid but only for a moment. When suddenly the sand exploded with Choji now towering above Gaara and the arena.
"I choose neither." Choji said as he punched Gaara into the wall of the arena.
Gaara looked very unhappy as he spit out some blood. While his sand protected him from most of the actual damage he still felt the impact of Choji's fist and him hitting the wall.
"I will make you pay for that." Gaara said.
Gaara formed a spear around his right arm made entirely of sand and rushed Choji. Choji who had reverted back to normal size after Gaara into the wall knew if that spear hit him he was done for. Choji once again grew into a giant ball and rolled into Gaara. However unlike last time Gaara was ready and used the spear on his right arm to spear Choji.
Choji reverted to normal size, stuck on the spear. "Ok, I forfeit the match."
"Winner by forfeit Gaara no Sabaku." Hayate declared.

The screen lit up once again and the names cycled through the remaining participants before stopping on two names.
Nara Shikamaru vs Uzumaki Karin
Kiba saw the name of Shikamaru's opponent and was genuinely confused.
"Uzumaki? I thought the Uzumaki were extinct except for Naruto." Kiba asked.
Naruto had woken up by this time and was curious as well because Hiruzne had told him he was the last Uzumaki many times.
"It is logical to assume that not all the Uzumaki died when Uzushio was destroyed or alternatively cloned from a single source." Shino surmised.
Shikamaru didn't care which all he knew was he was fighting a girl, he hated fighting women even if they were kunoichi.
"Are both parties ready?" asked Hayate.
"Hai." Shikamaru said lazily.
"Hai." Karin said getting into a ready stance.
Karin was a short girl with red hair and violet eyes wearing red rimmed glasses.
Shikamaru was standing with his hands in his pockets yawning lazily.
"Begin!" Hayate shouted.
Karin rushed Shikamaru only to stop dead in her tracks, unable to move.
"Why? Why can't I move?" Karin asked.
"Kagemane success." Shikmaru said in a lazy voice.
"Kagemane?" Karin asked.
Shikamaru bent his head looking down, making Karin's head move to look down as well.
"The Kagemane no Jutsu is a jutsu specific to the Nara Clan. We use our shadows to possess anyone whose shadow we connect ours to, in this case I stole control of your body by connecting my shadow to yours." Shikamaru raised his hand forcing Karin to do the same. "I forfeit the match."
"Wait, what but you didn't even do anything." Karin protested.
"You're an unknown plus if you really are an Uzumaki you have larger than average chakra reserves, insane life force, and if the rumors are true special chains that you can manifest from your chakra. In short I can't defeat you without hurting myself in the process so I forfeit." Shikamaru explained.
"Winner by forfeit Uzumaki Karin." Hayate declared.
"But?" Karin staggered.
"Just accept your win." Shikamaru said walking back up to the viewing area.
Temari was watching the fight and Shikamaru in particular. 'He forfeited the match but he still showed a great analytical mind he saw a variable and instead of risking himself in a possibly hopeless situation he retreated. He could be a threat to father's plans.'
The screen lit back up and began to cycle through the names once more before stopping on two names.
Hyuga Neji vs Inuzuka Kiba
A/N: Hey all Azrael here I hope you all enjoyed this chapter as the prelems continue we got to see Gaara be Gaara cold hearted and not caring about injuring Choji and we got to see Shikamaru be a lazy badass and explain why he didn't want to fight Karin. And lastly a hint about the Kazekage planning something. But what is he planning?
