AN: Please give Story's Shadow a round of applause for writing this excellent chapter, thanks my good friend.

-Secret Warriors' Base, The Next Day-

The team were placed onto medical beds, some of the team laid down while others sat up. S.H.I.E.L.D. had sent a group of doctors to attend to them. Riri had called for technicians to attend to the armor and tech some of the team used, but they didn't do anything with out say. She wasn't going to let anyone touch her armor in a way she didn't accept.

A doctor bandaged Dante's back.

"Your fire helped with removing any infections, you did the right thing when your fight was over."

"Still can't believe I got thrown out of the fight so earlier."

Ghost-Spider rubbed her head.

"God, this headache is killing me!"

The doctor attending to her gently placed their hands on her head, studying where the Wolf man had landed a blow on.

"You took a clean blow to your temple, it will take some time to adjust."

Doreen sat in the bed next to her, one hand over stomach. One of the doctors wrapped bandages around one of her legs.

"You gonna be ok, Gwen?"

"Yeah...that wolf dude just hit me harder than I thought."

"...Right..."

"Hey take it easy! I don't want that armor falling apart!"

Riri watched as a few technicians started to check the damaged parts of Iron heart's armor, but they were being to quick for her liking.

"You have to treat her gently. You gotta-Agh!"

Riri hissed, her face wincing, one hand going to her shoulder. The doctor shook their head.

"Don't thrash around. You're gonna hurt yourself worse."

"Than tell them to listen to me!"

Vixen was quiet, rubbing her arms up to her shoulders. The doctors had quickly bandaged her up as she was the one had the least injuries amongst the group. She looked over to the bed beside her. Vulpine was being heavily bandaged and was given shots to kill any infections that may have hit him when he fell through the debris.

She sighed, ears flattening. But they perked up as the door to the room opened. All those gathered turned, seeing Captain Marvel standing in the doorway. A small frown was on her face.

"What happened?"

Kamala grunted as the doctors cleaned the cuts on her hands and arms.

"H-Hey Carol...we uh...we..."

She sighed as her idol stared directly at her, arms crossed.

"We got our butts kicked."

"Who?"

Quake frowned, resisting wincing as a doctor checked her upper back and arms for the extent of the damage she'd been dealt.

"These three...people...two we heard about through reports...the cat girl...and a...hedgehog boy?"

Captain Marvel sighed, walking up to the Secret Warriors.

"I read the reports. They did this much damage to you? Them and one other person?"

Kamala winced as the doctor cleaned the cuts on her shoulder.

"They were like...Kung Fu masters or something! And they had these powers too!"

"Such as?"

"The cat girl can do what Dante does...the hedgehog guy had telekinesis!"

Captain Marvel remained silent, waiting for more answers.

"What about this third perp?"

Quake sighed, lowering her head.

"Some Wolf...man."

"...A werewolf?..."

"No...I think...I think they-"

"They're like me."

Everyone turned to Vixen, who had been silent. Captain Marvel's raised an eyebrow at this.

"...More survivors?..."

"Yeah...Vulpine told me there were several bloodlines from my home world. I just thought we were the only two left."

Captain Marvel sighed.

"You shouldn't have found out otherwise like this, kid."

"I...I don't understand...why did they attack us?"

"That's a good question. Squirrel Girl...they kidnapped you. Why?"

They all looked to Doreen, who rubbed the back of her neck with one hand. She sighed.

"I was following up the reports...I had a lead that took me away from the city...I just remember the pain in my wrist...I guess I blacked out next...when I woke up...I was in that room Riri found me in."

Captain Marvel rubbed her chin.

"What else? Did you hear them discuss anything?"

Doreen shook her head.

"When they were going to discuss something, they did out of earshot...they even had music playing. I'm sorry...I couldn't make anything out. The only thing I know for certain is that they told me I was bait...that's it."

Captain Marvel turned and took a couple of steps.

"A surprise attack without making a sound...keeping their plans hidden and making sure that their discussions had a veil over them...and having both the fighting skills and powers to defeat all of you?...They're professionals."

She turned around, eyes on Vulpine.

"You, fox guy."

Vulpine scoffed.

"'Fox guy'? You couldn't come up with something more clever?"

Captain Marvel frowned.

"Who are these three?"

Vulpine looked to the group but his gaze fell on Vixen. Her eyes were wide, ear flattened. He sighed.

"They're names are Metatron, Cassandra, and Jacob. Jacob is of the Hedgehog line, Cassandra of the Common Cat line, and Metatron...is of the Wolf line."

"Who are they?! How are they alive?!"

Vixen practically barked her questions, though there was no anger in her voice.

"When Imperious invaded, the Emperor had his armies fighting the hordes that came to conquer our world. Most followed the Emperor's will and aided him and the great lords and ladies. For a time they held the hordes at bay...but the fighting was taking too long for some. Many great warriors and heroes died in the fighting. Some wanted to prevent it...but they were so consumed by their rage that they did, in their minds, whatever it took to stop the war. Jacob and Cassandra are both loyal to Metatron...he led them into fights that did more harm than good, not caring what they did to others so long as it meant blows to the invaders."

"What do you know about each of them?"

"Jacob is Metatron's most loyal follower, a student of his for many years."

"Student?"

"Metatron was a sensei in the ways of war, a fierce fighter and ruthless in battle. He also taught them dangerous magic that strengthened those who followed him. Jacob learned to fight without even having to touch another."

"What about the Cat Girl?"

Vulpine sighed.

"Cassandra...truth be told, I don't know much about her. I just know she became a talented student of his in both unarmed combat and pyromancy."

Dante scoffed.

"Yeah...it was fun finding out."

Doreen rubbed her arm.

"Why would they grab me? Their world...Vixen's world...is gone."

"Metatron is ruthless, I hear that the wolves of your world aren't so different."

Vixen's ear lowered as she rubbed her arm.

Captain Marvel nodded.

"What are they doing here?"

"I don't know how they found out...maybe through a spell...but they're after me."

Doreen's head cocked to the side.

"Why you?"

"I was tasked with stopping them. They were too dangerous, as much a threat to us as they were to Imperious."

Doreen nodded.

"Why didn't you tell us about them?"

"Because I didn't want Vixen to have the impression some of our people weren't standing together when we were attacked."

Vixen shed a tear, nodding.

Vulpine winced as a doctor cleaned his wounds. Captain Marvel sighed.

"We'll continue this later. We'll set up informants to keep an eye out for these three. We'll bring them in."

Vulpine nodded.

Captain Marvel walked off as most of the Secret Warriors went back to their bed, the doctors continued to help them. Vixen sat beside Vulpine, holding his hands. Vulpine smiled at her before he closed his eyes and laid his head against the pillow.

Ghost-Spider turned to Quake then started to walk off. Quake followed her. They made their way through the base. Ghost-Spider turned to Quake.

"This far enough?"

Quake nodded.

"I know that look, what're you thinking?"

"Something doesn't add up from what he's saying?"

"Still having doubts about him?"

"Now especially when he described that Wolf guy."

"What do you mean?"

"There's no question he and his students kicked our assess."

"But?"

"Meta...Metatron had me at that point when he hit my head...that would've been the perfect time to end me...but he didn't."

"You think he was holding back?"

"I don't know what to think. They beat us...but didn't end us?"

"Vulpine is bringing up that they're ruthless and did more damage to their own side. We're not their people, they don't owe us anything. Why didn't they do what he was describing?"

Quake rubbed her chin.

"...Something else is going on here..."

"We need to find those three and-"

"What?"

Ghost-Spider rubbed her head.

"My headache...it's gone...or it's not as bad as it was earlier."

"Strange."

"Yeah...anyways...we need to find those three..."

"Captain Marvel and the others seem sure about what he said."

"Yeah...but I'm telling you...something's not right...my spider-sense...it should've gone haywire if it was true what Vulpine said."

Quake nodded.

"We keep this between us for now."

"Yeah...I don't think Doreen would like it if she found out we think the ones who grabbed her aren't what Vulpine said they were."

To Be Continued...

AN: Now the fun truly begins, anyone have any ideas as to what's really going on... and I mean that in more ways than one ;)
