Katsuki tried another jab only for Izuku to grab him by the wrist and use a judo throw to fling him to the ground.
"How the fuck did he do that?!" The explosive blonde thought in disbelief.
Izuku was having different thoughts. "I can see Bakugou's moves before he makes them. Sense how he's going to attack. Is this what All-Might told me about during training? How [One For All] is able to carry the Quirks of its previous users?"
Katsuki managed to get up and with an angry grunt, aimed a blast-powered kick to strike Izuku, who simply blocked before wrapping up the leg in the capture tape. This gave him the leverage he needed to get out of the way as Katsuki tried punching again, blasting the wall.
"Is this another aspect of that damn Quirk your girlfriend gave you, Deku?! She really wanted your wimpy ass to be the best it could to challenge me, huh?!"
"First off, Twilight is NOT my girlfriend!" Izuku snapped back. "And secondly, this is something I don't think is safe for you to be told about!"
The rest of Class 1-A watched as Izuku and Katsuki dodged each other all over the floor, both boys trying to land a hit on the other.
"It's a game of cat and mouse at this point. But if Bakugo can't find a chance to break away, Starlight will be on her own defending the weapon." Rikidou noted.
"Go, Izu! You can do it!" Pinkie cheered, having somehow manifested a pair of pom-poms and doing a cheerleader routine.
"Where did she even get those?" Tony asked in confusion.
"It's Pinkie Pie, don't question it," Rainbow said with a shrug.
Katsuki was breathing heavily as he quickly ducked into a nearby room. He had been learning to temper his anger recently but he still had a pretty short fuse and right now, that fuse was almost burnt out. However, he then remembered his grenade gauntlets as he looked down at them.
"The explosions I create from my sweat have the same chemical composition as nitroglycerine. My new gauntlets are designed to collect that sweat, allowing for a massive explosive when I pull the pin. I only get one good shot at it though. If I don't blast Deku out of the building with it, then I'm as good as captured."
He knew this was probably the stupidest move he could make, but considering Izuku's freakish new powers, he'd have to take the risk.
"If this kills Deku, then I can guess all my hard work goodbye...but at the same time...dammit!"
Meanwhile, Twilight had turned herself invisible to sneak through the building undetected. She soon found the room where Starlight was guarding the bomb but just as she made her way inside, she kicked a pebble, which alerted Starlight to her presence.
"You can drop the invisibility, Twilight. I know you're there."
Twilight undid her spell and narrowed her eyes as she readied her staff, which she could use as a channel for her Quirk's power while Starlight simply rubbed her hands together in excitement.
"You always did have a sharp eye, Starlight."
"What can I say? All those times we studied together helped me learn how you tick."
Izuku looked around, then suddenly sensed something in the nearby hall. It was Katsuki, his gauntlets glowing.
"This is gonna be all or nothing, Deku! These gauntlets are dangerous but I'll try to hold back so I don't kill you!"
"Good, wouldn't want you to get expelled from UA on your first day, after all," Izuku said, narrowing his eyes as he got on guard.
"I figure if I condense the explosion into a blast wave, I'll simply send you flying out of the fucking building with as few burns as possible!" Katsuki said as he flipped open the pin on his right gauntlet.
"Oh man, that's not good!" Rainbow said in a worried tone.
"Izuku better get out of the way! Bakugou's packing heat!" Ghidorah noted.
"This is going to get grizzly..." All-Might thought worriedly as he turned to Celestia, who nodded. "If things go wrong, we'll be right there to stop it...but I trust Young Midoriya's judgment on this situation."
Time seemed to slow down as Katsuki pulled the pin. Izuku then turned to the nearby wall and got an idea, quickly pulling his fist back and launching a right straight. The hole he created allowed him to duck inside and dodge the blast as it blew out the exterior wall.
"YOUNG MIDORIYA! ARE YOU INTACT?!" All-Might asked in worry.
Izuku coughed a little but smiled. "Don't worry, the blast didn't even touch me. And now I have a better idea of where I am."
He then looked up, knowing that by now Twilight had likely found the weapon and was confronting Starlight as they spoke.
"Knew you managed to get out of the way in time, Deku. So I guess that's one less issue on my conscious..." Katsuki said as he made his way through the hole, having figured out Izuku was able to avoid his attack. "But this time, I'm not letting you get away, you damn nerd!"
"That's what you think!" Izuku said as he spun around and surprised Katsuki with a fist to the gut, followed by an elbow to the back of the neck, sending the explosive blonde to the ground.
Katsuki coughed as he struggled to get up, only for Izuku to wrap the capture tape around his wrists, bounding him. With his opponent captured, Izuku began making his way upstairs.
Meanwhile, Twilight and Starlight had been startled by the explosion before quickly resuming their own battle. Twilight sent blasts of magical energy that Starlight simply transmuted into flower petals. Twilight created a wave of stone fists from the ground, Starlight merely erected a dome around her to block them. The two girls were evenly matched in every way.
"Sorry, Twilight! But unless your boyfriend shows up in the next few moments, I can just wait out the clock!"
"Okay, I'M NOT HER BOYFRIEND!"
Starlight was shocked but Twilight smiled in relief when she saw Izuku charging in. She quickly erected a wall to block his incoming punch, only to realize that's exactly what he wanted her to do as Twilight teleported right to the weapon and touched it, a smug look on her face.
"Checkmate."
"THE HERO TEAM WIIIIIIIIIINS!" All-Might announced as Starlight stared in disbelief before falling to her knees in disappointment.
"Dammit..."
"That was a truly intense battle," Kira noted. "Everyone gave it their all but Izuku and Twilight ultimately prevailed in the end."
"Man, Midoriya, Twilight, and Starlight have such overpowered Quirks," Sero said. "I mean, Midoriya could predict what Bakugou was gonna do, Twilight has all those magic spells, and Starlight could manipulate matter to keep her on the defensive."
"The fight looked like it could go either way," Trixie said. "For a moment, I was certain Bakugo and Starlight would be able to just run out the clock. Then again, Trixie knows Twilight's capabilities firsthand."
"It was difficult grading this particular match-up. For the most part, the title of MVP swung between Twilight and Starlight. Ultimately, the MVP award goes to Twilight for her creative thinking. Had she not accidentally alerted Starlight, she would have certainly captured the weapon without incident" All-Might said.
"Why not Midoriya or Bakugou?" Tenya asked. "Both of them seemed equally suited to the title. They both took their assigned roles seriously. Bakugo had a sound plan to keep Midoriya away from the weapon while making sure Starlight could defend it from Twilight. Meanwhile, Midoriya was equally capable of outmaneuvering both of them by anticipating what their plans might be."
"That's true. However, we did have to dock some points for a crucial factor. Can anyone take a guess what that was?" Celestia asked.
"I believe I know, it's because of the damage done to the testing site. Heroes should always try to minimize collateral damage during a raid, and for villains, it's impractical to do anything that might comprise their hideout, especially if they're holding a nuclear weapon." Momo said. "Comparatively both Starlight and Twilight planned their battle out much better. I noticed that Twilight deliberately aimed her attacks so that they would only target Starlight, while minimizing the risk of prematurely setting off the weapon, under the hypothetical that it could go off if struck."
"Indeed. Excellent observation, Young Yaoyorozu!" All-Might said with a nod.
"One should always start with the basics, and devote themselves wholeheartedly to learning. That's the only real way to become a top hero." Momo recited.
Tony let out a dark, guttural chuckle as he shook his head.
"That's how a spoiled sheltered little princess like you can become a hero, but you become a top hero by going beyond the basics, gaining the trust of the people, and showing victory overall even when you yourself lose. That's what the motto of this school means... Go beyond, Plus Ultra. Keep to just the basics, rec girl, and you'll only be a second-rate hero."
Momo was flabbergasted. "Spoiled? Sheltered? Second-rate!?"
"Anthony, your words are truly hurtful." Celestia scolded. "But you do have a point; The basics will certainly take you far, but if you hope to become a top hero, you must strive for far more."
The next match-up was between Team D as the Heroes and Team E as the Villains.
"I never imagined I'd have to think about things from the other end," Tenya said, tapping on the weapon. "Fake, of course. There's no way they'd let a real nuclear weapon in this school."
"Iida, I believe it is imperative we stick together for this match-up. We defend the bomb and allow our opponents to come to us." Kira suggested. "There is something about Ms. Tempest Shadow that radiates power, unlike anything I've seen."
"I saw a little of Uraraka's Quirk during the entrance exam. I'll remove anything from the room that she might use against us. That will at least take some load off our backs."
Kira nodded in approval. "A wise decision, Iida. Now, all we have to do is play the waiting game..."
With Tempest and Ochako, the former had created some kind of digital interface that revealed a map of the whole building. She then pinpointed the room where Tenya and Kira were and nodded.
"Seems like they're expecting us to come to them. Uraraka, make for the nearest window and head for the weapon."
Ochako nodded and made her way outside, sneaking around before realizing that Tenya and Kira might check the windows in case she tried floating through. Deciding to throw them for a loop, she floated herself into the window below them and began sneaking through the room normally while Tempest blended into the shadows, her eyes being the only thing illuminating through the darkness.
Soon, both girls were able to find the weapon. Ochako was right behind Tenya while Tempest was in front of Kira.
"Well, well, looks like I found you..." The scarred girl smirked as electricity began flowing off her prosthetic arm.
"I should advise you, Tempest Shadow, my Quirk [Shepard's Protection], might be a purely defensive Quirk, but it is more than capable of causing harm to others," Kira warned.
"Oh really?" Tempest said skeptically before sending a bolt of lightning at Kira, who took the hit...only for Tempest to convulse as she felt the sensation of being electrocuted herself.
"I tried to warn you; my Quirk allows me to reflect the damage done to me back on the attacker. Of course, the drawback is that I still feel the pain...and that's not the only application of my Quirk!"
"Nice try..." Tempest said as she began getting back up to her feet. "But I've felt pain before...and it was way worse than any of this!"
"And she's not alone!" Ochako said, coming out from behind the pillar.
"Shoot, she must have come up from the stairs!" Tenya cursed before shaking his head. "No matter, I made sure there's nothing in this room for her to use her Quirk on."
"That's what you think!" Ochako said, taking off her helmet. "The second I set foot in this room, there was still one thing I was able to grab hold of to use against you!"
Tempest smirked as both Tenya and Kira were left shocked when Ochako threw her helmet affected by her Quirk, forcing the boys to dodge around as Ochako played pinball with her helmet as the ball and herself as the flipper.
"Might as well give her the chance to shine..." Tempest said before her fist became coated in a type of light blue nuclear energy, which she used to punch the ground, creating a shockwave that caused one of the pillars to topple.
Ochako saw what Tempest did and smiled as she took her chance, making one final kick before leaping over to the pillar and picking it up, removing its weight with her Quirk so she could easily carry it.
"You were clever in trying to limit my Quirk, Iida, but you forgot that I'm not working alone!" With that, she swung the pillar like a baseball bat. "HOME RUN COMET!"
The force of the swing sent debris flying at Tenya and Kira, who put up their arms for defense, but that only let Tempest leap past him and grab the weapon.
"And that's game." The scarred girl smirked.
"NOOOOOO, THE WEAPON!" Tenya exclaimed.
"Well played..." Kira sighed, admitting defeat.
For the next fight, Shoto and Terumi on Team B were the Heroes while Tooru and Ghidorah on Team Q were the Villains.
"Alright Ghidorah, I'm gonna totally disappear!" Tooru said as she used her Quirk, [Invisibility], to completely vanish as Ghidorah nodded, only to sniff the air.
"I sense Todoroki's about to pull something if the chill in the air is any indication..."
"I saw both Hagakure and Ghidorah earlier. My Quirk, [Personal Radar] allows me to lock on to anybody who's seen my face. They're both on the fourth floor." Terumi advised as he and Shoto prepared to enter the building.
"You might want to step outside," Shoto said cooly as he walked past Terumi. "Things are about to get cold."
"Track down Hagakure and capture her. I'll take care of Ghidorah and secure the weapon." Shoto said as he touched the wall and started icing over the entire inside of the building. Ghidorah found himself trapped by the icing, pinning his feet to the floor.
Terumi climbed the side of the building, his claws allowing him to scale the wall before heading inside. He frowned when he realized that Tooru's Quirk seemed to counter his own but he still had his other senses to detect her.
"You can't hide, Hagakure. Besides, you're frozen and can't move."
"I can still move around a little! I'd only lose the soles on my costume, and right now you can't see me."
Terumi grinned. "You may be able to turn invisible to my radar, but I still have a keen sense of smell, hearing, and sight...I'll find you."
"Will you now?"
Terumi's eyes widened in shock as he turned to see Ghidorah, having melted through the ice by coating his legs in magma. The giant boy then plowed his fist into Terumi's stomach, making the monstrous-looking boy keel over before Ghidorah sent out a trail of blood from his wrist, which wrapped around Terumi's face and blinded him as he fell to the floor in a heap.
"Thanks for that, Ghidorah..." Tooru said in relief as Ghidorah melted her free before noticing Shoto walking in just in time to see Terumi get defeated.
"Sorry Todoroki, but I'm a beast on a whole other level than you can fathom." Ghidorah grinned.
Shoto narrowed his eyes and sent a wave of fresh ice at Ghidorah...only for him to burst into flames and plow through the ice, melting it on contact as he delivered a fiery punch to the half-and-half boy's face, sending him sprawling.
"I know about your Quirks full power, Todoroki...and I must say, I'm disappointed."
Izuku seemed to notice as well. "Why didn't Todoroki use his heat side more? He seemed to rely purely on ice."
Shoto's Quirk was [Half-Cold, Half-Hot]. He could generate cold from the right side of his body, and heat from the left side. Balancing the two insured he wouldn't freeze up or overheat.
"I think I recognize Todoroki. He's the son of the #2 Hero, Endeavor." Twilight noted. "Surely he has to have fire as well, right?"
Celestia sighed as she shook her head. She knew about Endeavor, she had worked with him more than a few times and to say the man was stubborn, aggressive, and rude would all be a massive understatement. Still, she knew that deep down, he wasn't a truly bad person...it's just that he made some very poor decisions.
"My faithful student, you don't understand how much pain the Todoroki Family have all gone through, not just Shoto, but his father as well."
And so the matches continued throughout the day. Sero and Rarity on Team J were the Villains against Fumikage and Trixie on Team H.
"I must say, darling, your Quirk is quite simple but so functional as well!" Rarity noted.
Sero's Quirk, [Tape], which manifested from his elbows, set up a defense perimeter with Rarity setting up crystals everywhere for added defense.
"Really? I always thought it was pretty boring but...if a pretty lady like you can appreciate it, so can I!" Sero said, blushing bashfully.
Meanwhile, the darkness allowed Fumikage full access to his Quirk, [Dark Shadow], a sentient Quirk that acted almost like a second body and could grow stronger in dark places. Trixie smirked as she used her Quirk, [Spatial Illusion], to hide inside his cape.
"This will be the Great & Powerful Trixie's greatest trick yet!"
"Hmm, just don't occupy Dark Shadow's space," Fumikage advised.
After that was Team C, Momo and Marco, as the Villains. Momo started making use of her [Creation] Quirk, which allowed her to make various objects from her body by transmuting her lipids, to create a barricade on the door.
"If you need any extra help, just ask!" Marco said, giving a thumbs-up as Click chirped.
Down below, Kyouka and Derpy were the Heroes. Kyouka's Quirk was [Earphone Jack], her specially shaped earlobes. They could be safely inserted into solid objects to let her hear things long-distance and could generate canceling sound waves.
"Think your super luck can get us through?" Kyouka asked.
"I hope so!" Derpy beamed, not caring if she won or lost.
Next was Team H as the Heroes and Team P as the Villains. Flash gulped as he turned his arms into plasma cannons while Denki used his Quirk, [Electrification], to charge up electricity through his body like a human Tesla Coil.
"You've got my back?"
"You got it, man!"
Nearby, Tony smirked as he simply snuck through the halls. His body adapted to the darkness to make him blend in like a chameleon while also turning his eyes into a mixture of infrared and night vision, allowing him to keep a watchful eye on Denki and Flash before he prepared to pounce.
After that was Team F as the Heroes and Team J as the Villains. Fluttershy set up a defensive perimeter consisting of vines and branches while Eijirou used his Quirk, [Hardening] to ready a defensive position of his own.
Shouji used his Quirk, [Dupli-Arms], to form extra ears and take a listen through the halls. It wasn't just extra arms, his tentacles could form different exterior body parts, especially sensory organs. It was also how he normally talked, his tentacles forming additional mouths.
"They're both on the fourth floor. Fluttershy has covered the entire area in vines and branches if what I'm hearing is correct."
"Then we'll just have to cut a path," Jotaro said. "My [Cellular Manipulation] can do more than just heal, after all..."
Next was Team K as the Heroes and Team G as the Villains. Yuuga was more than a little annoyed while Pinkie ended up using his cape as a makeshift cloak to act like Batman for a brief bit as she rambled in excitement.
Meanwhile, Applejack was giving Minoru the hardest stare imaginable, warning the dwarfish boy not to look at her behind. Minoru, to his credit, wisely decided to avoid staring.
The following match was between Team R as the Heroes and Team N as the Villains. Tsuyu scaled the interior of the building while Junko sniffed out Rikidou and Elleanor's location with her Quirk, [Predator], which compensated for her blindness by not only supercharging her other senses but also allowed her to technically see via 'Radar Sense' and also gave her the ability to mimic other people's voices after hearing them once and breath out a mist that temporarily erased parts of a target's memory.
Finally Kouji and Rainbow on Team F for the Villains and Mina and Sunset on Team E for the Heroes. Sunset illuminated the way through the halls with a small ball of light in her hands while Mina skated ahead on her acid.
"Careful, Ashido!" Sunset warned. "They could be trying to jump us!"
"Sorry!"
Rainbow smirked as Rikidou let out a pumped-up yell and clapped his cheeks before striking a pose as the two of them waited for their opponents to arrive, ready to surprise them as soon as they stepped into the room.
"Aww yeah, this is gonna be awesome!"
"And that's a wrap!" All-Might said when the final debriefing concluded. "Super work today. And we didn't have any major injuries. That's what all heroes should strive for. You should be proud of your work today."
"It's nice to hear encouraging words after Aizawa-Sensei. He was kind of a buzzkill." Tsuyu noted.
"Preaching to the choir on that one!" Junko laughed.
"I understand you all have your issues with Shota, but he comes from a place of caring," Celestia said. "It's just that he has his own issues to deal with that he stubbornly refuses to allow those who care for him to help with."
"Still, Celestia and I are happy to bring such staggering positivity to my alma mater!" All-Might smiled. "Remember, this is only the beginning. The trials will only be getting harder from here on out, and even I can't pull any punches when it comes to your training as heroes. Just keep a positive attitude, and remember to smile in the face of danger!"
"YEAH!" Rainbow said, pumping her fist in the air along with Elleanor, Mina, Denki, Sero, Pinkie, Starlight, Junko, Marco, and Ghidorah.
"So, I hear All-Might and Celestia went all out with the initial hero training, huh?"
Aizawa was talking with the Pillars, a team of six Pro Heroes who were also teachers at UA. Their leader, Hoshi Uzuhi AKA Starswirl the Bearded, was stirring a cup of tea.
"We all have different ways of teaching our students but even a great goof like Toshi realizes that they need to be pushed to their limits. It was the same with his teacher, Nimbus."
"She was a truly good woman..." Sighed Moya Utsukushi AKA Mistmane. Despite her aged appearance, she still held an elegant and beautiful grace. "It broke all our hearts the day she died..."
"And we know exactly what happened to her..." Muttered Ishi Hidzume AKA Rockhoof.
"I won't pry into what happened since I can tell it's a touchy subject," Aizawa said as he sipped his coffee. "But you all seemed pretty close to her."
"Mistmane and I were her old allies along with Gran Torino," Starswirl said. "She lost her life to a terrible villain so dangerous, so evil, that the world would rather forget all about him."
"And something tells me that he's still out there, even after All-Might took him down..." Yukan Magunamu AKA Flash Magnus whispered, just quiet enough so Aizawa didn't hear.
Meanwhile in a dimly lit bar, a young man with dry pale skin, light blue hair, and preserved hands all over his body set down a newspaper.
"Can you believe this shit? It says he's a teacher now." He looked up to a figure that seemed to be made of purple smoke, though still with a humanoid shape. "Hey, here's a question. What do you think would happen when the mighty Symbol of Peace... Is permanently kicked off the server?"
"Nothing would please us more than to see that grinning oaf eliminated..." A beautiful woman's voice said as a pair of light green eyes with slit pupils appeared in the darkness, followed by darker green eyes with purple wisps emitting from them, and finally a pair of hollow black eyes with glowing red irises.
"Unfortunately, we must also look through all the outcomes of this plan of yours, boy." The owner of the dark green eyes said. "When the Symbol of Peace is killed... Another rises to take his place."
"Good will never stop fighting, otherwise evil would have already won." Chuckled the owner of the black eyes with red irises.
"Your precious Sensei may be our brother and comrade..." The owner of the dark green eyes continued. "...But he is too foolish to realize this simple fact; For us to revel in our Chaos...Order must continue to exist and vice-versa!"
The young man looked at the trio of villains in the shadows and hummed in deep thought as he swirled a glass of bourbon in his hand, keeping his pinky raised as he did so.
"You may have a point...but something tells me things are gonna be fun either way..."
It seems Tomura Shigaraki is not alone and the League of Villains has a much greater group of mighty villains working together. What will come out of all this? Find out in the coming chapters!
