"Thank goodness, All-Might is here!" Mina cheered.
"And Celestia as well!" Pinkie added.
"Imagine our surprise to see two of our students rushing into the teacher's lounge with a look of abject terror on their faces," Celestia said with a frown. "That pretty much told us that there was something terribly wrong that needed our attention."
"I must admit, even though we expected this attack, we never could have anticipated it would have such a large scope. And all for the sake of killing me? I don't know whether to feel honored or insulted." All-Might noted as he looked at the number of villains already captured or knocked out. "But it seems you went for too many numbers and not enough quality in your villains. Our students are only just starting to learn how to use their Quirks, and yet they mopped the floor with your organization."
All-Might tore off his blazer and tie, his furious scowl never wavering as Celestia's wings spread out from her back, the temperature around her rising up as she and All-Might stared down the Nomu.
"So, by process of elimination, I can only surmise that this monster is your trump card against All-Might?" Celestia questioned as her fists glowed with golden solar energy.
"Clearly it's not human. It took everything we threw at it and didn't even budge." Discord pointed out.
"It does seem to have rudimentary consciousness and at least one Quirk, however," Aizawa added.
All-Might nodded. "Right. First thing's first."
In a blur, All-Might and Celestia had taken out the remaining villains in the center area before they could even think to gang up on either of them. During the brief melee, the severed hand covering Tomura's face came loose, which he desperately tried to pick back up despite his now lack of hands.
"Father, this is all wrong! All-Might is even stronger and faster than he should be! No doubt Celestia helped him out in some way, I did hear she has major points in Healing..."
All-Might readied himself and lunged toward Tomura, his arms crossed as Celestia finished routing the remaining thugs.
"CAROLINA SMASH!"
Delivering a powerful cross chop, All-Might was shocked when the Nomu got in front of him and took the blow in Tomura's steed. The residue shockwave cut a line in the Shipwreck Zone behind it.
"Your friends did figure out one thing; Nomu's Quirk is [Shock Absorption]! Whatever kinetic force hits him will be absorbed without issue!" Tomura taunted.
"Thanks for telling me your big guy's Quirk, fiend!" All-Might said as he got behind Nomu and started to suplex him. "If this guy was your big plan to kill me, then you'll need far more than endurance!"
Tomura smirked. "Actually, he was just the distraction. Kurogiri! Do it now!"
To All-Might's surprise, the Nomu grabbed his abdomen, and he found himself sinking into a warp gate.
"ALL MIGHT!" Celestia and most of the students present cried out.
All-Might winced at the Nomu's fingers were able to pierce into his flesh on the left side, right where his scar was, drawing blood.
"A good effort, but Nomu was designed to be as strong as you are. And it looks like he found your weak spot, too." Tomura said.
"Only because even after five years that wound still stings despite Celestia's best efforts!" All-Might thought with a grimace.
"Doesn't it look like far too little blood is being shed?" Kurogiri asked. "I was certain he had taken a hard injury to that location five years ago."
"No doubt Celestia healed him. Her [Solar Angel] Quirk is the perfect blend of Offense, Defense, and Support, after all." Tomura noted. "Because of that, Nomu can't even get a good grip on him."
"Then we'll need to ask fast. I don't normally like getting blood and viscera on me, but for the Symbol of Peace, I'll make an exception." Kurogiri said as the Nomu pulled All-Might halfway through the warp gate.
"No!" Celestia cried, firing a beam of solar energy from her palm but Kurogiri formed a warp gate to redirect it into the ceiling of the USJ.
"Once you're halfway through, I'll squeeze the gate shut, cutting you in half!" Kurogiri declared to All-Might.
All-Might fought through the pain to give a grin. "That's all fine and dandy, but do you really think my fellow heroes and students will just stand by and let you kill me?"
Before Kurogiri could make a response, he was suddenly hit by a massive explosion to his metal collar, courtesy of Katsuki.
"Yee-Haw!" Applejack hollered as she dashed into the fray, pinning Kurogiri to the ground with her thighs wrapped around his collar. "Never really expected to wrangle a mist man before!"
A sudden sheet of ice hit the Nomu, freezing two of its limbs and forcing it to let go of All-Might before it was pierced by bone spears in several other places.
"We came here as part of rescue training," Shoto noted as he approached along with Rainbow Dash, Tooru, and Ghidorah. "I guess helping to rescue the #1 Hero makes for a good start. One of your poorly-trained thugs told us the whole plan."
"Hold on, big man!" Rainbow Dash said as she flew down and helped All-Might break free of the Nomu's grip, allowing him to land and check for any damage to his person.
"Are you alright?" Celestia asked worriedly as All-Might sighed in relief.
"Yes, I'm fine. The pain is only transient. The way that thing was squeezing me I was almost afraid I'd lose my spleen."
"Dammit, I can't even break out that speech I had planned about the nature of how heroes operate versus how villains operate," Tomura growled. "Complete bullshit of course, and we can all admit to that, but part of the plan for killing you off was demoralizing you. After all, you can't just kill off the Symbol of Peace and expect the world to destabilize. Killing a man's easy. Killing an icon? Now that's the real trick. Cuz when you kill one Symbol of Peace, another one eventually rises up to take their place."
Tomura's words slowed down as a look of realization glowed in his eyes. If he still had his hands, he'd be scratching his temple in contemplation.
"Wait...I think I get it now...what the others were trying to tell me. I'll admit Sensei's plan had some holes in it, but now that I'm voicing them out loud, it's starting to make sense..."
"So you are not working alone," Celestia said, her eyes narrowing. "Who put you up to this? Who are your allies?"
Tomura sneered. "I've given all the hints I'm willing to divulge, TROLL-estia."
"Man, that Kurogiri guy stinks of the dead," Junko noted as she and Eijirou joined Katsuki and Applejack in keeping an eye on Kurogiri. "It's like he's some kind of living corpse or something...that, or he could just be a demonic fart cloud."
"I take offense to that..." Kurogiri grumbled.
Tomura resisted the urge to laugh. "UA certainly lives up to its reputation. You were not only able to escape uninjured, but you also captured my two strongest players."
"You spent all that time checking our school's schedule," Aizawa noted. "Why didn't you grab any student files? You might have been able to win like that."
"Yes, normally the bad guys should be more prepared. But then again, this isn't one of those fanfictions." Discord said, waving his hand casually.
"Believe me, I actually thought of snagging some files for bonus prep points but Sensei insisted that first-year high school students were no threat and that the villains we enlisted were already proven killers," Tomura admitted while shaking his head. "As much as I like the idea of killing the #1 Hero, I get the feeling Sensei is a bit too obsessed with pulling it off."
"It did seem quite odd..." Kurogiri added. "But we haven't lost yet!"
Tomura smirked. "You got that right, Kurogiri. NOMU!"
Much to everyone's shock, Nomu began pulling himself out of the warp gate, his limbs breaking off from the ice.
"Does this thing even feel pain?!" Shoto asked in disbelief.
"No, wait...look!" Tony pointed out.
Sure enough, Nomu quickly started regrowing muscle tissue, bone, and skin. Minoru looked ready to puke on the spot, Twilight looked visibly green, and even Katsuki grimaced in disgust.
"So glad I'm blind and unable to see that crap..." Junko muttered.
"Did you really think we'd make a monster like Nomu and not have contingencies in case something like this happened? This is [Super Regeneration]! Not exactly the best Healing Factor-type Quirk around, but it helps for replacing lost limbs and the like." Tomura said. "Along with [Shock Absorption], this makes the Nomu strong enough to even take on All-Might at 100% of his power. Think of him as a highly efficient punching bag... That can punch right back."
"That explains why my spear had no effect on that beast when I cut it..." Flash Magnus realized.
"Nomu, free Kurogiri!" Tomura ordered as the beast complied, charging at Katsuki, Applejack, Junko, and Eijirou like a freight train.
"GUYS!" Eijirou called, getting in front of the others and hardening his body as best he could to shield them.
"NO!" All-Might shouted as he got the children out of the way and tanked the Nomu's attack himself. The force of it blew him backward and tore apart his undershirt, but he stayed on his feet, a testament to his strength.
"Straight-up force won't work on that monster," Celestia noted. "You say it's as strong as All-Might at 100%? Perhaps you should have taken me into account as well!"
Celestia's eyes then shined a brilliant gold as she held her hands together, conjuring a small ball of flames before expanding it slowly. Tomura realized what was going on and internally cursed as he turned to Kurogiri.
"Kurogiri! Warp us out of here now! I've seen enough of Seven Deadly Sins to know where this is going!"
Kurogiri nodded as he quickly warped himself and Tomura away. Izuku and Twilight noticed this and rushed to try and stop them but they were too slow. Just before Tomura disappeared, he and Izuku's eyes met.
"I'll need more XP to destroy All-Might and Celestia...but perhaps my real nemesis should get some XP of his own."
"Huh?" Izuku said, the words directed straight at him before Tomura and Kurogiri completely vanished.
"CRUEL SUN!"
Celestia, having finished expanding her fireball into a miniature sun, threw it down on the Nomu, who tried to hold it back only to get its flesh seared in the process. The beast howled in agony as it struggled against the encroaching star before it was completely consumed, the immense heat burning away every cell in its body before Celestia let out a fierce cry, igniting the fireball into a massive pillar of solar flames.
Everyone quickly shielded their eyes from the blinding flash of light and fire. When everything cleared, they saw that absolutely nothing remained of the Nomu, not even ashes.
Celestia sighed as she floated down to the ground and fell to her knees, having exerted herself greatly in that attack. Twilight quickly ran to her mentor's side to check up on her as All-Might walked over to his friend and supported her.
"That's the spirit of our alma mater, 'Tia." Toshinori chuckled. "Go Beyond, Plus Ultra."
Celestia smiled and giggled as the rest of the students quickly ran over from the zones they were warped too, regrouping with each other and excitedly talking about their experiences.
While it wasn't the lesson the students had been looking forward to, the incident had been a real eye-opener. Class 1-A learned first-hand just how dangerous villains could be, and just what heroes have to go through to keep people safe.
Despite it all, the teachers were proud of one thing; The students were able to hold their own and even took out quite a number of villains in the process. Izuku and Twilight were even congratulated for disabling Tomura, almost insuring there would be no casualties.
"I don't know though..." Twilight frowned as she sat with Celestia. "I-It was all happening so fast. Tony pushed Izuku out of the way to save both of us from Shigaraki...and I thought he was going to die and I...I..."
Celestia wrapped her arms around her student comfortingly. "It's alright, Twilight. You did it in defense of your friends and yourself. There is no shame in that."
"A shame the Great & Powerful Trixie could not be there to help apprehend that fiend," Trixie said as she walked by. "The battle would have been over before it even began!"
Twilight just rolled her eyes as Celestia giggled in amusement.
"All the teachers are here, so the villains only attacked the USJ. They didn't even target the school." Jotaro noted as he looked around, Tenya and Fluttershy having arrived with the rest of the UA Staff just after Tomura and Kurogiri escaped.
"They didn't know that All Might would be there," Starswirl said as he approached. "For now we need everyone to return to the entrance and check in with Recovery Girl in case of injury. We've already called the police, and they'll be here shortly to round up the villains."
"Wait, the leader had some kind of Disintegration Quirk? And he touched you?!" Elleanor gasped in concern for her brother as Tony shook his head.
"It was more like accelerated decay than disintegration, sis. Luckily my skull was resistant to it. If he had managed to get through to my brain, that would have been it for me."
"Well, thank god for that." Terumi sighed. "I don't think the rest of us would have been so lucky."
Tomura was being given new black crystal prosthetic hands courtesy of Kessho Kage, also known as King Sombra, who used his Quirk [Black Heart] to provide the crystals needed.
"Well, that could have gone worse," Sombra noted.
"I don't see how. I lost my hands and am now effectively Quirkless. We lost all of our underlings. The students were far stronger than Sensei expected. And worse, All-Might wasn't weak in the slightest. And to top it off, Celestia wasn't taken into account and she destroyed our Nomu. We failed." Tomura scowled.
"Only in your Sensei's goals," Sombra pointed out. "But you did succeed in impressing us."
"Indeed. You adapted under pressure and when you realized you were outmatched, you made the wise decision to retreat." Tirek added. "You really underestimated your old foe...Brother."
A nearby TV was turned on, with the display reading "Sound Only". A dark malevolent voice began speaking from it.
"Indeed, clearly, I was working with outdated information. I had assumed the injury I dealt All-Might five years ago would weaken him to the point where he could be worn down. But he was as strong as when we fought."
"I told you we should have destroyed Celestia when we had the chance!" Snarled a furious voice as everyone turned to see a woman with moonlight-pale skin clad in dark blue armor with hair that flowed like water and was colored like the night sky. "Her powers are too great to ignore and you paid the price for your arrogance!"
"And whose arrogance allowed Celestia to outsmart us in the first place, hmmm?" Chrysalis teasingly pointed out as the armored woman snarled at her. "Honestly, Nightmare Moon, you're just as bad as Mugen is!"
"Either way, the next Nomu the doctor makes will need to have both All-Might and Celestia in mind...as well as those students, their powers are potent indeed." Tirek said.'
"I only have so much material to work with. And Sensei only has so many Quirks to go around." An old man's voice came from the TV.
"And we've been with him for as long as Quirks themselves have existed," Tirek said. "But age has not brought wisdom, it seems."
"Cute, Tirek. But how did you all find Tomura?"
"He has potential, my dear," Chrysalis said with a smirk. "But not while he continues to learn under you and you alone. After all, you're hardly the most qualified to teach."
"What?! You mean to steal my student from me?!"
"Chill out, Big Boss!" Cozy Glow sneered. "But yeah, even a kid like me could tell that Big Bro would have easily come away with greater success if he hadn't followed your instructions exclusively."
"Do not fret..." Sombra chuckled. "The boy's health and safety is our primary concern, old friend."
"Speaking of which..." Tomura began, getting everyone's attention. "There was a green-haired boy among the students. I think his name was Midoriya. He seemed to have the same power as All-Might."
"Really? Tell us more..." Tirek said with interest.
"I didn't get to see much of him in action, but I felt a spark between us...I was aiming for his girlfriend when he pushed her out of the way. His friend got in front of him and took the blow himself but he healed from it...then that bitch cut off my hands."
"Celestia has taken on another pupil?" Nightmare Moon scowled. "Foolish, she will only let her down..."
"And if you're referring to Izuku Midoriya, he was registered Quirkless..."
"He was fast, faster than any normal NPC had any right to be. He had to have some kind of power, Sensei." Tomura said.
"Interesting...So the torch is passed once more..."
"If you truly believe this boy is to be your nemesis...study him," Tirek said. "Always keep your friends close but your enemies...CLOSER."
Tomura smirked. "I have a feeling you guys have a lot to teach me...and I'm actually pretty eager to learn."
"You certainly got lucky with this one," Recovery Girl said as she finished patching up Toshinori. "If not for Celestia healing the damage from five years ago, this could have been a whole lot worse."
"I'm just glad my strength is still up to par and that no one got seriously injured. Only Young Panelle had any real damage, and that was healed almost immediately." Toshinori said.
The door suddenly opened as Celestia smiled, turning to see a familiar face.
"Ah, Naomasa, it's been a while."
"Hey, 'Tia, Toshi," Detective Naomasa Tsukauchi said as he came in. "Glad to see you back in shape."
Toshinori nodded. "Yeah. It's a good thing Celestia and I were together to take on that Nomu. Glad to know it won't be harming anyone else."
"Regardless, your class is truly amazing. Midoriya, Bakugo, Twilight Sparkle, heck the entire class. They risked their lives making sure those villains wouldn't cause harm. Not like Aizawa's last class, who were a bunch of suck-ups who thought they could coast by on strong Quirks alone."
"It's not the lesson we were expecting to teach them," Toshinori noted. "But those villains may have inadvertently galvanized the students' resolve. They now know what it means to be a hero, and they'll be working harder than ever to achieve that goal."
"A good thing as well..." Celestia frowned as she looked out the window at the evening sun. "Because I feel like this is only the beginning..."
The USJ is finally done! On to the Sports Festival!
