Yeah so I am just writing at the moment and posting, who knows how many chapters will be up and when. Lifes slow so this is really the only pass time I have at the moment. I will go back and edit/add on later so this more a draft than anything.

Oh yeah I don't own SAO or anything.

"Names Shiori Hayato, I'm from a small village. Nice to meet you all." Bowing as he finished his sentence, should he have said more? He felt that he shouldn't so he left it there.

The room was so quiet, it felt like the lack of volume was actually blaring in his ears. Externally he showed no emotion, yet on the inside he felt pain like never before. The stares and weird looks just threw him off, scanning the room one more time he sees the girl from earlier, blanking on her name completely he gave up on hoping to make friends here.

"Alright Shiori, thank you, take the open seat next to Kirigaya and Hosaka." Nodding he slowly walked down the narrow row of desks and chairs, hanging his head low to avoid any kind of contact with his classmates. As he got to his desk at the back of the class, he was in between the girl from this morning which he just relearned her name, and the newly identified Kirigaya, a shorter effeminate looking boy, his hair was what most would consider medium length for a boy, and his nearly black eyes somehow gave him a friendly look.

"Names Kirigaya Kazuto, nice to meet you Shiori." Hayato just slightly bows to him, turning backl towards the front of glass, before turning to the girl next to him due to the quiet giggle he heard.

"Must be fate huh emo boy." The nickname made him a bit irritated, he decided to ignore her forever and just turned to the teacher, slowly falling asleep throughout the class consistently getting awoken by Kirigaya when it was necessary which, Hayato would not admit, but he was grateful for. This is going to be a long day.

A few hours went by then the bell for lunch went off, Kirigaya went and sat with the annoying girl. While Hayato didn't move, instead he laid his head down and decided to nap for the period of lunch. Slowly the world became dark as he escaped into the world of dreams. After about 10 minutes he heard a loud voice that woke him up, it was that girl and the pretty boy. He sighed knowing he wouldn't fall back asleep. As he just sat there he overheard a discussion between the two about the beta test for the first full dive VR game that was coming out soon, Sword Art Online. Normally he wouldn't be interested but the idea of becoming someone in another world was appealing to Hayato. Sitting up, he didn't quite know how to proceed or even ask Kirigaya the question he had been intending on asking.

"Hey, uh." He started, realizing it was too quiet for anyone to hear him, "Hey uh, what's that game you are talking about?" Kirigaya turned towards him with a weird smirk, and something that sent absolute geek vibes to Hayato.

"Sword art Online," He started. "The beta sign ups are closing at the end of the week, it's the firsty full dive game and it is going to be an MMO. Honestly, I do not know too much myself, but being able to go into another world is going to revolutionize the gaming market and MMO titles as a whole." He could've went on and on about how cool it is and the idea but Hayato interrupted him.

"How do I sign up?" Kirigaya was about to reply, but Hosaka spoke up before he could say anything at all.

"If you answer some of my questions we will give it to you." Adding a small wink, she thought it would be successful, no, she knew it would. Hayato sighed, heavily, there was no way she just did that.

"Fine," his brain was fighting with the decision hard, but he knew he would have ended up talking to her one way or another considering they took the same bus.

"I only have one question, I know you'll just go away if I ask more." Oh so she did learn he thought. He nodded signaling her to continue. "Are you not actually Japanese? You seem pretty different from everyone else." He had not expected this question, he was raised her by his mothers family so he did not think he acted that different from everyone else.

"I am not full Japanese, my mom is full Japanese, but my dad was European, thought I have no idea where from." His voice seemed to go down a bit towards the end. Anger, annoyance? No one could tell.

"Makes sense," Hosaka nodded, and closed her eyes, she rubbed her chin thinking of how she could get more out of him, she knew she said one question but her thirst for knowing everything she could about people was driving her mad. Very rarely was she this interested in someone, but Hayato is so weird, and different from others, that she couldn't help but get very curious. "Give me your contact info and I will send it to ya." This made Hayato flinch, he had one person in his contacts, and it was his grandpa. He wasn't one for constant contact really.

"Fine," he sighed, this wasn't going to end well.

"Take mine too, I don't like playing MMOs in large groups, but you might be fun to grind with."

"If I get in," Hayato added, handing them his phone. This is going to suck; were is final thoughts before the bell rang telling everyone lunch was over.

The next few weeks were hard for Hayato, Hosaka constantly bugging him, and the popularity of Kirigaya was getting to him. They tended to drag him around with them, though he was warming up to them and felt comfortable calling them friends, he couldn't help but think about the rumors around school. People constantly warning Kirigaya that he will lose popularity especially with the girls if he hangs around him too much more, however Kirigaya didn't seem to care much as he only hung out with Hosaka before Hayato. Yet, they were kind of getting to Hayato, it annoyed him that people would form opinions without knowing who or what they are talking about.

After school one day, Kirigaya made Hosaka and Hayato follow him to a small cafe. He had a killer grin on his face. "I got in." He said, confusing both of the other people a bit.

"Got in?" Hayato asked, he thought it might be about SAO, but Kirigaya was talking about taking game dev classes at a little college that let younger students take classes in their free time.

"To SAO," yup, Hayato smiled slightly, of course it was that.

"Congrats." Both Hayato and Hosaka said, giving a high five.

"You guys?"

"Let me check." Hosaka had said pulling out her phone checking her emails. Her face scrunched up a bit, looking through her emails. She scrolled through hundreds before seeing it. "Yup!" She had a mad grin that said every emotion she was feeling.

"Haya, you in?" Hayato frowned at the nick name but didn't care much, he got used to it. He went through his pockets, only to remember he forgot his phone today.

"I don't know. I don't have my phone on me today." He leaned back, he didn't really care anymore, the excitement for SAO lasted a week before he just forgot about it entirely. Standing up, he left some money on the table, "I am going home, I want to sleep."

"Of course you do Haya." Hosaka said sending him a playful glare.

"Shut up rat." He walked away, with a small smile; maybe friends aren't that bad.

Hayato took his time walking home, truth be told he did not want to go home yet. He just wanted to soak in his thoughts for a bit and wonder around Tokyo. He has lived here for 4 weeks and still never went around much. The concrete jungle was mildly intimidating to him, though he knew he would get used to it. He stood at a crosswalk, watching all the cars go by, quietly counting the amount of white cars, to pass the time. The crosswalk made a loud beep and signaled for people to walk across. Before he could step off onto the crosswalk he heard a shout. Looking around, he say no one that seemed to have shouted but was surprised by the lack of attention everyone was paying.

He started to walk across when he heard it again, running back to the sidewalk he looked for where the voice came from. That's when it turned into a quiet but loud enough for him to hear scream. Running he looked everywhere for where it came from, disturbed by the fact no one seemed to care. After a miniute he finally found the source, a girl with short brown hair, and bangs that framed her face with square glasses was on the ground while a group of four boys stood around her.

"Hey," Hayato shouted, his brain was telling him to leave that this was much more trouble than it was worth. "What are you doing to her?"

The four boys looked at him, obvious delinquents, blonde dyed hair, piercings, and barely allowed school uniforms that were modified. That is when he noticed that they were wearing his school uniform, he cursed at himself, this was going to get nasty for him.

"If it isn't Hayato, come to join the party huh?" The biggest of the boys said. The girl seemed even more scared with Hayato's presence. Hayato sighed, of course they would think he was going to join them. "You know Hayato, we would take you into our group, but you got to help us first." another one of the boys said.

"Never," Hayato said, slowly walking towards them he tied his hair back, showing off his piercings, and his exhausted looking eyes. The boys flinched every so slightly, he looked kind of intimidating. "Now back away before i make you." he had said without thinking, god this is so out of character for me he thought.

"Fine truce for today, we were about to leave anyway." He spit towards Hayato, "This isn't over emo." They walked away, leaving the trembling girl behind, she was crying a bit, trying to hide it as best she could. She refused to open her eyes, and see what had happened. Hayato leaned down and pat her head which made her flinch.

"Sorry I suck at this." He said, she looked up at him. Looking into his near dead eyes, taking in his face. The piercings and eyes created a deadly combo of fear inducing and concern.

"Thanks," She got up and ran away as quickly as possible. She didn't want to bother with him anymore than she had to, she knew he would hate her like everyone else. Also, he looked incredibly upset to her; the receiving end is not what she wanted.

"I will just leave the girls to Kirigaya." He mumbled, "So weird."

The next day at school was tough for Hayato, the boys he ran into yesterday started a new rumor that he was apart of a gang. "I moved to Tokyo to make life easier." He grumbled.

"Say something Haya." Hosaka came and sat on his desk with a smirk.

"Nothing, just thinking how troublesome this all is." He leaned back face aiming the roof.

"Of course you'd say that. It actually does bother you don't it?"

"I mean yeah but nothing i can do." Hosaka flicks his nose making him sit up and glare at her ever so slightly. "What was that for?"

"For being dumb." She said as she got up and started to walk away. "You ever going to get food or do you just not eat?"

"I eat at home." He responded laying his head down. "Too much work to make food to bring and I am too broke to buy any."

"Whatever you say." She shrugged walking out. Sitting up he looked around for a minute hoping that seeing something would give him something to do. Finally his eyes landed on the girl from yesterday. He had no idea she was in his class. Walking up to her, she seems to be asleep. "Troublesome." He mutters.

"Hey," he says making her shoot up, and turn her head towards him faster than he can blink.

"What do you want?" She seemingly shrunk down under his gaze. He shrugged, he had no idea to be completely honest, he just saw her and got curious.

"Just wanted to make sure you were okay or something like that." He rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly. Knowing he should've thought this through a bit more.

"I'm fine, now will you please not bother me anymore." She was mad at him. This absolutley confused Hayato, why him? He helped her.

"Sure, but you should talk to Kirigaya or Hosaka, they'll take a new friend, and to be honest I suck at being a friend." She looked at him with a confused look. He smiled, very small, but he smiled. "That's all." He walked back to his desk and fell asleep.

Over the next week, he forced Hosaka to go talk to the girl, he learned that her name was Asada Shino and that she didn't really care for men that much. Hence why she seemed to hate him. Her and Hosaka got close, but surprisgnly she got closer to Kirigaya. However, she would never talk to Hayato, he assumed that it was probably due to the way he acted so closed off and was probably intimidating.

Yawning at his desk, the lunch bell had just rung and he was ready for his daily nap. Before he could lay his head down, Hosaka came and sat on his desk like always. He grunted he really didn't want to do this today.

"Hey you rat move,"

"Why? So you can sleep away the day?"

"Exactly." She sighed, she knew him well enough by now that she didn't expect anything less.

"You know," she began, but left a big enough pause to make Hayato guess what she was going to say, "Shino said she saw your whole face before."

"So?" He was uncomfortable with where this was going, "Out of everyone I know you'll be the last to see my face." She let out a loud huff.

"You're that ugly huh?" He fought back a grunt, he couldn't show her any weakness.

"We will go with that sure."

"The beta test starts next month ya know?" He looked at her confused for half a second before realizing what it was, summer was soon which meant the test for SAO was as well. He had got into the beta but constantly forgot to tell her and Kirigaya.

"And?"

"Aaaaaaand, I will be unavailable and so will Ki-boy. Just heads up."

"And I care why?" He smirked, he knew this would work her up, she hated when he did this but he found it hilarious to watch her face shift emotions so constantly.

"Maybe I will never leave that world until I die then." She said making him glare slightly. Sure, he liked being alone, and yes he would never admit he like being around her but he didn't want her to know.

"You do that."

"Get a room you two," Kirigaya said as he walked in with Shino, "I swear it's like you two love each other so much you hate it." Shino giggled slightly at that, Kirigaya had a small circle outside of us which consisted of a few girls he would never talk to them about. However, the whole situation helped Shino warm up to them.

"Says the guy with a harem." Both Hosaka and Hayato had said. Kirigaya rubbed the back his neck, and Shino sent them an unseen glare.
