Chapter 63:
Larten and Erin lay entwined together amidst twisted bedsheets, Erin's breathing slow and rhythmic. Larten was lazily playing with her hair as he waited for her to wake up. Brigid had mentioned going out for the evening since it was the new year, however, specific plans had not been made. Brigid was youthful and thus more spontaneous. Erin shifted in her sleep, eyes slowly opening.
Larten kissed her forehead.
"Good morning." He said quietly.
"Mmm," Erin sighed, snuggling her face against the crook of his neck inhaling his masculine smell.
They laid there softly caressing one another neither ready to leave the warmth and comfort of the other until there was a quick knock on the door.
Larten tensed until Erin rested her hand on his chest calming him.
"What do you want Brigid?" Erin called out.
"I'm making vampire breakfast and then we're going out so get ready!"
Erin moaned. "Fine. We're getting up."
Footsteps were heard going down the stairs.
Erin flopped back down and rolled onto Larten's chest sighing.
"I don't want to move."
Larten tucked her hair behind her ear. He was of the same persuasion. He rubbed his thumb against her cheek. Erin raised her head and went in for a kiss. Larten held her face in place as they kissed before they parted and Erin sighed once more.
"I guess we do need to get up."
Larten frowned as she rolled off his chest.
"Don't frown. Would taking a shower with me make you happy?" Erin bit her lip.
Larten tried not to show it but it was evident that showering with Erin would perk him up.
"Come on then." Erin stood and stretched, Larten's eyes taking in her thick curves.
Larten untwisted himself from the bed and followed Erin into the bathroom. Hot water was already making the mirror steam over. Larten stepped in to join Erin as she lathered herself with a sweet, smelling body wash.
"Here, turn around." She said moving him to stand under the hot water as she started washing his back.
"I can wash myself you know." He mumbled even though his eyes were closed and he could feel all the tension leaving his body as she massaged his back. She reached around to soap his chest, trailing down past his hips. Larten's eyes sputtered open as he felt her hand silkily grab his manhood.
"Erin-"
"Sssh. Relax. We won't have much time to ourselves tonight."
Larten groaned as she manipulated and stroked him. Before he knew it, he was bracing himself against the shower wall as he came. Erin turned the water off as Larten panted from his release.
"Sorry it couldn't be more." Erin said drying herself off.
Larten grabbed a towel to dry as well, trying to get his breath under control.
"It is fine." Was all he could manage.
Erin giggled at him sneaking a kiss.
"Go ahead and get dressed. I need to blow dry my hair. Oh, and grab me a cup of coffee, please."
Larten nodded, kissing her back.
He stepped out of the bathroom as Erin pulled out the hair dryer. To his vampire hearing it sounded like a tornado so he quickly dressed, black pants, black shirt, and red vest.
He ventured out of Erin's room down into the kitchen. Brigid had eggs and sausages already made. The smell made Larten's stomach rumble.
"Have as much as you want, I can always make more."
Larten quickly filled his plate and wolfed it down still standing.
"Good lord, Larten, slow down. The food isn't going anywhere."
"I am hungry." Larten said between mouthfuls.
"Yeah, I bet you are."
Larten glared at Brigid. She shrugged her shoulders in pretend innocence.
Larten sat his plate down to make a cup of coffee for Erin. The annoying hair dryer was silent now and he heard her padding softly down the stairs.
"Morning, sis. Thank you, Larten." She took the cup from his hands and took a sip.
"Okay, so, what are our plans?"
Brigid piled some more sausages onto Larten's plate which he immediately took to scarfing down. "Well, what I was thinking is that we hit up some shops, walk around, and see that movie that I've been dying to see now that it's out!"
"I don't know if going to see a movie is really Larten's….thing." Erin said.
"Well, it will have to be 'his thing' because I really want to see it. Please, pretty please." Brigid pouted.
"Pout at Larten, not me."
Brigid gave Larten her best puppy dog eyes. Larten let out a huff.
"Whatever you wish."
"Yes! You'll like it."
Larten gave her a droll look.
Brigid smiled and flipped her hair.
"Meet me upstairs, sis, we need to get ready!" Brigid said flouncing up the stairs.
Erin and Larten's eyes met and both smiled at each other. Larten couldn't help it. Brigid could be infectious at times. Erin sat her empty mug down.
"I'll clean up here." Larten offered. Erin smiled at him and proceeded to give him a quick kiss.
"Be right back." Erin smiled at him.
"What do you want to wear?" Brigid asked Erin.
Erin rifled through her clothes. "Gray sweater, plaid skirt, and my knee-high black suade boots?"
"Looks good. Can I use your eye shadow palette?"
Erin scooted it over to Brigid as she got dressed. Erin did a shimmery eye to match her highlighter and a deep burgundy for her lips. She fluffed her hair as Brigid finished putting gloss on.
"I think we're set. Ready for the movies?"
"Ready!" Brigid said tossing Erin's coat at her.
Larten was finishing the touches to his cloak when he heard the two of them walk in.
"Where are my keys?" Erin mumbled to herself digging through her purse.
"I'm so excited! We're going out and we're going to have fun! I've been waiting for this movie for forever to come out!" Brigid squealed.
Larten shook his head. The young were easily excitable. He had been the same.
"Okay, I think we're good. Larten are you ready?" Erin smiled.
"I am ready for whatever the evening may bring." He bowed.
Brigid snorted as Erin pecked his lips.
"Come on you two." She teased.
Erin and Larten gave her a look at the same time.
"What?"
"Let's go then. Brigid, you're in the back. Larten, you're up front."
The three of them climbed into Erin's car with Brigid babbling away. Erin gave Larten's hand a squeeze.
A lone figure stood watching as the car drove away into the night.
