Momo managed to reach Shouji, Kyouka, Mina, Tempest, Derpy, Elleanor, and Sunset by using a high-speed moped to trace her way through the arena. With so many examinees eliminated, getting through without getting spotted was relatively easy.
"How are things going?"
"Some of our classmates already passed the first portion. They confirmed it through our communicators." Shouji said.
"I was with Todoroki, Tsuyu, Asahi, and Flash earlier. I can safely say they have passed themselves." Momo nodded. "Has anybody else managed to score?"
"Tempest and I were able to get a point each on the way here, but that's about it," Mina replied.
"When you've got an arsenal of abilities like me, it's pretty easy," Tempest smirked. "Though I couldn't leave Ashido hanging."
"We got a problem, guys," Kyouka called out, her jacks plugged into a nearby wall. "We have four people coming up the stairs ten floors down. They're not stopping, so they're not running away from anything."
"Uh-oh, they must be targeting us somehow." Elleanor realized.
"But why with so few? Most of the other classes have grouped together in large numbers." Derpy pointed out.
"Most likely they have other members of their class stationed nearby." Sunset suggested. "What we need is to figure out what they're planning."
Momo nodded as she turned to Kyouka. "Jiro, try listening through the floor instead. We might be able to get a good read on their movement through their footsteps."
As Kyouka pulled out her jacks, Shouji placed an ear to the wall to keep track of the numbers. He narrowed his eyes when he heard something.
"Someone just turned on a music player, and rather loud, at that. If Jiro was still jacked into the wall it would have caused a major shock for her. By now the sound waves have calmed down enough, but I can't hear any footsteps."
Kyouka plugged her jacks into the floor. "They've been joined by one more. Now they're moving slowly. They probably expected me to still be listening."
"This was coordinated. They're trying to take us out with smarts." Tempest realized. "But at a high school level, it would take someone using a Quirk like Principal Nedzu's to outsmart Yaoyorozu."
Suddenly something started breaking the nearby windows. Sunset gasped as she and Shouji shielded everyone with their wings and arms respectively.
"Get to cover!"
"They're trying to block off access to our Quirks," Kyouka realized as everyone went to hide behind something. "They tried to shut down my hearing, now they're trying to keep Shouji from seeing outside."
"They're trying to surround us," Tempest said, narrowing her eyes. "But if they're trying to negate our strengths first, they can't have much in the offense department."
"That's true. They'd be fools to try attacking us head-on even now." Momo noted. "Any sort of ambush we could easily plow through. So instead they'll try something more indirect. Something that would immobilize us long enough to tag our weak spots."
Sunset suddenly felt a shiver run down her spine and it wasn't because of fear. No, the temperature was starting to drop. Quickly, she engulfed herself in flames, heating up the surrounding area as Tempest noticed the cold as well and ignited flames in both her hands.
"Thanks for keeping us warm!" Mina said in relief. "Acid and cold don't mix so my body's more susceptible to colder temperatures."
"Good thing Tsuyu's not here..." Elleanor said, her teeth chattering as her slime body slightly began solidifying from the cold, despite Sunset and Tempest warming the area up significantly.
"We can't get too hot or else we'll set off the sprinkler system," Sunset noted.
"Not to mention whoever thought this up was clearly banking on me wasting energy using my Quirk." Momo pointed out.
Indeed, the mastermind behind this scenario was an examinee from Seiai Academy named Saiko Intelli, using her Quirk [IQ] to formulate a plan to weaken the UA students, alongside her classmates.
"This is my formula for success. Since we know all about UA's Quirks, it's a simple matter for me to factor in the perfect plan to entrap them all."
[IQ] worked by Saiko drinking tea and closing her eyes, which would cause her already high intelligence to skyrocket. However, she failed to take into account one thing; Momo's resolve.
"They may know how my Quirk works. But they forget one thing..." Momo began as she created headphones for everyone while making something else from her back. "With my Quirk, I can make anything. It doesn't even need to be complex. If my opponent is somehow smarter, then I'll just hit them with something simple."
Tempest smirked as tentacles made of digital code protruded from her wrist and entered the floor, her eyes taking on a Matrix computer style as she gained access to the whole building's schematics.
"And they forget just how versatile some of us really are..."
"It should be about time. Prepare to take them, ladies." Saiko said to her classmates as she stood up. "Now then... I wonder what we'll find inside that makeshift fridge."
Just then, something loud started causing vibrations throughout the building. Saiko covered her ears and looked in shock as her classmates started keeling over.
"A... Sonic attack...? But... Jiro should have been disabled..."
Momo had created a large speaker that Kyouka was now plugged into to boost her sonic attack. It was a simple construct that didn't waste too many lipids. Sunset had even created a fire guitar to rock out along with Kyouka.
"Now!" Tempest ordered.
The eight classmates charged through the room, taking out the Seiai students in no time flat. Derpy used a wrestling hold, Shouji used his whole body strength to overwhelm them, Elleanor managed to form her fist into a hammer to slam it into another's head, and Tempest manipulated the colder temperatures to her advantage to freeze some of the Seiai students.
However, Saiko was still active and managed to grab Momo to pull her back into the room and lock it.
"I can't believe a UA student would choose such a method," she said, ball in hand. "But because of that, you can't fight now, can you?"
"That's what you think!" Momo smirked as she created a set of cuffs to lock around Saiko's wrist.
Saiko scoffed. "You're struggling in vain!"
"Is she now?"
The door suddenly melted as Tempest broke through, surrounded by an aura of flames and backed up by Sunset as she delivered a punch to Saiko's face, breaking her monocle as well as her nose, and splattering blood all over.
"What? But why? Surely you should have thought I'd already gotten her targets." Saiko whimpered through her broken nose. "We're in the middle of the licensing exam, you should be thinking of yourselves, not your other classmates."
"It's because this is the licensing exam, you know, for heroes?" Elleanor pointed out. "If you can't think of others during an exam like this, then you shouldn't be here."
"We at UA always look out for our friends, no matter what," Shoji added. "After all, if we can't look out for our friends, then we can't be trusted to hold the lives of complete strangers in our hands."
"Your calculations only factored in how we'd act individually," Tempest said. "But while you may have the ability to increase your intelligence, you're still mired by your own flawed philosophies."
"Yeah, you big dummy!" Derpy cheered, bumping fists with Mina.
"Guess you picked the wrong school to go too, sister," Sunset smirked. "May wanna drop out, try for UA next year."
Saiko scowled but then dropped her ball and slumped, her head bowed in defeat.
"You've defeated me completely. I guess UA lives up to its hype after all..."
"Things are looking up for our class so far."
Katsuki, Eijirou, Denki, Kira, Jotaro, and Pinkie were together, currently climbing a ladder to the highway.
"We still need to push it if we hope to pass," Katsuki said. "Keep an eye out, assholes. Once we hit the road we'll be out in the open with little cover."
"Gentlemen and one lady...we have an issue."
Hearing Jotaro's words, Katsuki peeked up from behind him and cringed, seeing only large piles of flesh that looked to still be alive."
"Okay, whoever did this has one fucked up Quirk..."
Pinkie sprang up and took out a comical pair of binoculars, her eyes growing big on the other side of the lenses as she looked around, seeing one figure standing at the other end of the road. The cap made him very distinct, and the purple hair was familiar.
"Hey, it's that guy who was with Inasa!"
"Can you see how his Quirk works, Pinkie?" Eijirou asked.
"Nope!" Pinkie replied, popping the 'p'. "Let's all go together and see if we can surprise him!"
Sure enough, once they got off the ladder and started running, the young man, Seiji Shishikura, started lobbing blobs of flesh from his hands.
"Don't let them hit you!" Denki called out. "That's likely how these other blobs got made!"
Seiji scoffed. "Worthless, undignified scum. I'll trap you until the exam is over."
Eijirou noticed something. "Hey, none of their targets are visible. That means this guy used his Quirk on them without scoring any points."
"A rather poor strategy," Jotaro noted. "There's only so many spots left in the exam."
"What you see is the difference between my peers and your vulgar class," Seiji declared. "UA is a most excellent school, but your own class sullies it with your undignified ways. The way you act is a disgrace to heroes!"
Katsuki merely laughed. "Wow, listen to you and your big fancy words! If I didn't know any better, I'd say you got a hard-on for that bitch-ass Hero Killer Stain!"
"You do realize there are quite a few undignified alumni in UA." Kira calmly pointed out. "I don't think you understand your own words."
Seiji merely growled as he activated his Quirk, [Procesed Meat], which allowed him to manipulate raw flesh, including his own.
"I'll make sure none of you can pass this exam. Even at the cost of my own advancement!"
"Not very heroic of you..." Kira frowned. "It seems we need to teach you a lesson in kindness and humility."
"Hell yeah! Let's waste this extra!" Katsuki grinned as he slammed his hand into his fist, creating a small explosion.
"This is going to be quite an interesting development," Jotaro said as he made his way over to some of the blobs, deciding to test out some facets of his [Cellular Manipulation].
"CHARGE!" Pinkie shouted, dressed as a Valkyrie and carrying a sword and shield as she rushed forward.
"AP SHOT: AUTO CANNON!" Katsuki roared, firing a volley of small explosions through the cupped finger of his opposite hand, focusing the blast into a more dense and powerful attack. The blast tore through the flesh blobs Seiji was launching from his back. However, they quickly floated back to their originator and merged back into his arms.
"Jeez, this guy may be harder to put down than Tony!" Eijirou said.
"That's mostly because Tony can heal and adapt to anything," Kira noted. "I doubt our friend here has the same courtesy."
"You caught me off guard, but now I'll be sure to break you, to teach a lesson in dignity and how a hero truly behaves!"
"Feh, I hate your self-righteous kind." Katsuki scowled before grinning. "Looks like we'll just have to beat that mentality out of you! Hit it, Pikachu!"
"You got it!" Denki called out, firing off several discs from his new gauntlets. Seiji was easily able to dodge the discs as they embedded themselves into the sides of the highway.
"Idiot. Next time aim a little better. Meanwhile, you've left yourself wide open."
Sure enough, he had managed to grab both Eijirou and Katsuki with his Quirk, turning them into small flesh blobs.
"Pathetic. You must be remade from scratch" Seiji scoffed as he turned to the others. "With All-Might withdrawing from hero work, it should make sense to just flood the streets with heroes, right? So why cut down on the number of people who can pass? Obviously, they intend to filter out the riffraff, those that are unfit to be heroes. That is why I choose to act to cut out those who are unworthy, who lack the dignity that this job requires."
"You really think the proctors can't hear us through these targets?" Kira pointed out with a glare. "I think I can understand you now, Shishikura; you're not flexible. You cannot judge every hero based on how you view the likes of All-Might."
"Man, this must be what Midoriya, Iida, Todoroki, Twilight, Tony, and Tempest went through having to listen to Stain's bullcrap." Denki groaned, scratching the back of his head.
"It is true that this whole combat scenario is obviously not the real point of the exam, but let's say you are right, and dignity is important to be a hero," Jotaro said. "Then that actually rules you out just from your actions here alone!
"Yeah! People always see me as the fun-loving silly party girl but there's more to me than just that!" Pinkie said with a determined expression. "What people need are heroes working together to help others!"
"Yeah, even someone as dumb as me can figure that out," Denki said, his gloves sparking up. "Yet you're striking out on your own, with no regard for even your classmates. Someone like you would get overwhelmed by all the villains coming in to fill the void left after the Kamino incident."
Seiji snarled. "You bastards! I'll mold you into the ideal I strive for!"
He dashed forward, only to get caught in an explosion, causing him to stumble.
"Ain't I a stinker?" Pinkie innocently said as she had dropped one of Katsuki's hand grenades that he could fill up with his nitroglycerin sweat for long-range attacks.
"One more thing, Shishikura...you shouldn't have watched Kaminari's mouth," Kira added with a smirk. "You should have watched the hands."
"Did you really think I was aiming for you? Especially with a piece of gear seemingly unrelated to my Quirk?" Denki smirked as he pointed his finger forward. "THUNDER SNIPER!"
He launched a powerful electric bolt that passed through Seiji and hit the metal disc in the wall, completing a circuit that completely electrified him.
"Ooooh! Crispy!" Pinkie giggled, putting on a pair of shades.
"You must have seen how weak Bakugou's earlier move was, correct?" Kira spoke up as Seiji fell to his knees, smoking and breathing heavily. "That's because he intentionally lowered his power output to keep us safe. Not just us, but all the other examinees you turned into meat globs."
"Unlike you, Bakugou has come to learn to think about others when using his Quirk. That right there is a hero's true dignity. And Bakugo is a lot smarter than you give him credit for." Jotaro added.
"And Kirishima always steps in to defend people no matter what!" Pinkie said with a smile. "He's as loyal as Rainbow Dash!"
"You only know bits and pieces of who we are. You rely too much on the information given by TV and the internet. A dangerous mistake." Kira finished, glaring at Seiji as Katsuki and Eijirou slowly started to break free.
"You filthy degenerate... I'll teach you to know your place!" Seiji shouted as he started to rush forward, only for Pinkie to turn into a matador and hold out a red cape before swiping it back, causing Seiji to run face-first into an anvil that had materialized out of nowhere.
"Classic!" Eijirou laughed, having completely turned back to normal as he struck Seiji in the solar plexus with a hardened fist. "RED GAUNTLET!"
"Suck on it, Squinty Eyes!" Katsuki smirked as he got behind Seiji and delivered an explosive backdrop.
"Gentlemen and one lady, I had used my Quirk to free some of those Seiji trapped," Jotaro said, revealing his weak points were glowing, signifying he had passed. "I Stayed in order to make sure Shishikura here understood he bit off more than he can chew."
"And look, more of his victims are breaking free too!" Eijirou pointed out as everyone turned to see more of the people caught by Seiji were starting to return to normal.
"Looks like the more damage he takes, the more people get released. Explains why he only focused on long-range attacks." Kira noted.
"Nice save, you guys. Though you should have honestly just crushed the bastard then and there." Katsuki said.
Denki rolled his eyes. "Yeah, yeah, so what now?"
Katsuki looked at the examinees waking up, all completely drowsy.
"Well, I take it you all have perfect reign to join me in the passing circle." Jotaro joked, smirking underneath his mask as Katsuki licked his lips like a hungry predator.
"Might as well, right?"
Mera had finished his nap and felt a bit fresher as a result.
"So how are things going? I heard murmuring that UA's students are all still on the board. That's a bit of a twist."
"Pretty much half of them have gotten their points already," Sitch said. "Most years UA students aren't able to make it through the initial crushing until they've already graduated. But this class pushed through and managed to turn the tables."
"That's impressive. Even considering the class rep is the chosen successor to All-Might himself." Mera noted. "And his Vice-Rep is the successor of Celestia."
Meanwhile, Tenya, Yuuga, Rainbow, and Rarity had managed to meet up. The four were surrounded and Yuuga was about ready to make a serious gambit.
"Aoyama, what are you doing?!" Rainbow asked as the blonde French-Japanese boy turned in a crab walk and thrust his midsection upward.
"SHINING BEACON!"
Yuuga fired his laser, creating a wide signal. While most of the examinees saw it, so did the remaining members of Class 1-A.
"Aoyama, don't go sacrificing yourself! We can still pass together!" Tenya cried.
Luckily, Kouji unleashed a swarm of birds, distracting all of the examinees and leaving them open to be taken down by Minoru's hairballs as Ghidorah slammed his fists into the ground and created a perimeter of bone spears to trap the examinees.
"You guys are in for it now!"
"So sorry!" Fluttershy apologized as she sent out her balls carried by hands made of vines and roses. Tooru went invisible and aimed her body against the sun.
"WARP REFRACTION!"
The blinding light hit the examinees who hadn't yet been trapped. Before they knew it, they were being tagged out one by one.
"You thought you were going to crush UA in this exam!" Tenya called out as he raced through the field, "But now those who sought to crush... Will instead be humbled by their supposed prey!"
"You will find that our glamorous silk hides the hardest steel!" Rarity said, creating a large crystal ball that she held above Yuuga's laser, which separated into multiple lasers via refracting off the ball and striking down many examinees, allowing the others to tag them.
"Awww yeah!" Rainbow cheered. "Now that's the spirit of loyalty! Never leave your friends hanging!"
"Yeah, Dash was right!" Minoru smiled. "With everyone scattered, we couldn't tell who was friend or foe out there. But your laser was just what we needed to rally."
Yuuga smiled, tears of relief forming in his eyes as Fluttershy and Rarity helped him up. In that single moment, he felt like a true hero.
"It's over!" Mera shouted. "In an unprecedented turnaround never seen before, all of UA High's students actually made it through right at the last minute! Talk about a first for this exam."
Sitch smiled. "That certainly got you excited, old friend."
"Those damn kids, did they really have to keep me on the edge of my seat until the last minute?" Aizawa smirked. "Still, they made me proud. But the real challenge is still to come."
Inside the anteroom, Inasa met with a rather hairy member of his class, Nagamasa Mora.
"So Shishikura was taken out then."
"It's because he went off on his own," Mora explained. "Went on that worthless crusade of his."
Camie came in, having managed to pass herself.
"Sorry for going dark, fam. I thought I could pull off some super spy stuff and maybe score a point on my own. I'm lucky I didn't get taken out when I encountered that Midoriya bae."
"I don't blame you for how rude your classmate was," Kira said as he approached the Shiketsu students. "He kept talking about how a hero should have dignity. But could he have said the same about you, his own classmates? Would he have been so eager to keep them out of the running?"
"Yeah, Shishikura is mid-woke at best." Camie shrugged. "Don't know why he hasn't been expelled yet."
"Considering his un-heroic actions in this exam, I'd dare say that may be the case now," Mora noted.
"Yeah, I've seen his eyes several times." Inasa frowned. "There's nothing truly heroic in them."
"Attention, remaining examinees. The next phase of the exam is about to begin. Please turn your attention to the screen."
The test arena was shown, as massive explosions went off across the arena.
"When taking the entrance exams for your various hero schools, you likely had an invisible factor to test your willingness to help others altruistically. Well now that you've proven you have the willingness... It's time to test your competency in rescuing people. The goal is simple. You must save the bystanders trapped in these disaster zones. Your performance will determine whether or not you pass, based on a number of factors."
"This is gonna be interesting for sure!" Marco noted, Click chirping in agreement.
Izuku nodded, clenching his fist. "A rescue mission... This is why I wanted to become a hero..."
Yeah, Seiji just got a super dose of reality smashed on top of him. I have plans for the squinty-eyed little shit, don't worry.
