Ch. 15 - Tour-de-Konoha

Konohagakure no Sato (Village Hidden in the Leaves), enjoyed a pleasant day with a high sun and a comfortable temperature. The presence of clouds provided intermittent shade, while a gentle breeze swept through the village. It was undeniably a lovely day in Konoha.

As one of the major villages in the Elemental Nations, Konohagakure (Hidden Leaf Village) spanned a vast area and housed numerous clans and civilians. The village's infrastructure was extensive and well-developed. However, what truly sets Konoha apart, Hokage-iwa (Hokage Rock/Hokage Monument). Carved into a mountain, it featured the faces of all the past Hokages, creating a majestic sight.

Like any well-organized village, Konoha's various sections had specific purposes. At the front of the Hokage Monument stood the Konoha Todoshokoro (Konoha Archive Library), and within the monument was an evacuation shelter for civilians and lower-ranking shinobi during emergencies. Numerous undisclosed ANBU hideouts were scattered throughout the village for covert operations. Adjacent to one another were the Konoha Aviary, Konoha Academy, Jounin Station, and Hokage Tower. The Hokage Residence was conveniently located near the Hokage Tower, ensuring easy access for the village leader.

Moving on to public service buildings, the Konoha Byoin (Konoha Hospital) and Konoha Keisatsusho (Konoha Police Station) played crucial roles in maintaining the village's operations. The hospital provided medical care for both civilians and shinobi, ensuring the well-being of the entire population. The police station housed the Konoha Keimu Butai (Konoha Military Police Force), formerly operated by the Uchiha clan. Their primary responsibility was maintaining peace and enforcing the village's laws.

Speaking of the Uchiha clan, their district was situated adjacent to the police station. It held a tragic history, having suffered a massacre that nearly wiped out the entire clan. Now, only a lone surviving Uchiha remained, making the district desolate and filled with painful memories.

On a lighter note, the Hyuga Compound occupied a central location in the village. Surrounded by white walls, it safeguarded the secrets of the clan possessing the Byakugan (All Seeing White Eye). Casually passing by or trespassing into the compound was strictly prohibited, as challenging a clan with such formidable abilities would be unwise.

The Akimichi Estate, near the Nara Forest, represented power and prosperity. As one of Konoha's strongest clans in terms of physical strength, the Akimichi clan welcomed guests with their renowned hospitality, particularly those with empty stomachs.

The Nara Forest, located on the eastern side of the village, served as a vast expanse of flora and fauna. The Nara clan acted as its caretakers, contributing not only their military prowess but also valuable resources for medicine production in Konoha.

Heading to the western side of the village, one would find the Inuzuka Holdings. The Inuzuka clan, known for their keen sense of smell and wild nature, required ample space for both clan members and their Ninken (Ninja Hounds/Ninja Dogs) to coexist. Their settlement was situated in a large field where their dogs could freely roam and where clan members could train alongside their loyal companions.

Beside the Inuzuka Holdings, the Aburame clan resides. Their isolated location accommodated their reserved and silent demeanor, and the need to keep their insects contained. These insects, if left unchecked, would devour any flora they encountered.

Indeed, the Yamanaka Clan of Konoha, also known as the mind-walkers of the leaf, resides in the Yamanaka District, conveniently located beside Konoha's park. Their passion for flowers was evident, as their district was near their clan-owned shop called Yamanaka Flowers. However, their affinity for flowers should not mislead anyone, as they also made significant contributions to the Torture and Interrogation Force. Their unique techniques involving the human mind made them well-suited for this department.

While there are many more notable clans in Konoha, such as the Sarutobi Clan, Senju Clan, and Kurama Clan, we will save their discussions for another time. Let's move on to the locations where Konoha's shinobi train to enhance their abilities.

Konoha boasts over fifty training grounds spread throughout the village, catering to different types of training and varying levels of difficulty. These training grounds serve as the venues for shinobi to hone their skills and become stronger. Some grounds are more perilous, while others offer a more tranquil and relaxed environment.

Among the numerous training grounds, Daiyonjūyon Enshūjō (Forty-Fourth Training Ground), stands out the most. This particular training ground is called the "Shi no Mori (Forest of Death)". It is primarily used to test the survival and combat capabilities of Genin aspiring to become Chunin. The Forest of Death is notorious for its danger, housing a multitude of gigantic flora and fauna, often poisonous or deadly.

Another notable location in Konoha is its stadium, mainly used for the Chunin Exams. The domed structure, although mostly abandoned, occasionally serves as a practice ground for large groups of shinobi.

Konoha is also renowned for its hot springs, located in the Hot Springs District. This area branches off from the Naka no Kawa (Naka River) and comprises multiple onsen (hot springs) and specialty stores. It serves as a popular tourist attraction, offering relaxation and rejuvenation. However, visitors should remain cautious of peeping toms and perverts in the vicinity.

Beyond training grounds and hot springs, Konoha provides various avenues for entertainment and indulgence. The Red Lantern is a popular bar situated near the Jounin Station, frequented by Konoha's elite. It offers a range of experiences depending on the sobriety levels of its patrons. Shushuya is another option, a resto-bar that serves unique sake and large platter dishes, perfect for groups seeking a good time.

If you're not keen on sweets like Kakashi, then Yakiniku Q is an excellent choice. It's a sit-down restaurant where the tables have built-in grills, allowing you to cook raw food to your liking. It offers a unique dining experience where you can savor delicious grilled dishes.

For those looking to warm up their gut or enjoy a comforting meal on rainy days, Ichiraku Ramen is a must-visit. According to Naruto, our resident Jinchuriki, it's the best ramen in all of Konoha, "You're darn right it's the best, datterbayo!" Naruto commented. Despite its humble appearance, this food stand serves noodles that rival those from Udon no Kuni (Land of Noodles).

As mentioned earlier, the Yamanaka Clan owns Yamanaka Flowers, a shop that caters to all your floral needs. Whether you're looking for a gift or something to express your love, this shop has you covered for any occasion.

If flowers aren't suitable, Konoha's Shopping District is the place to go. Here, you can find a wide range of possible gifts, such as dresses, books, bags, jewelry, and more. Just remember to bring enough money, as you might end up spending more than you initially intended.

Finally, there's the Milani Forge located next to the Naka River. This establishment specializes in various weaponry and supplies some of the best equipment in the village. While there are other shops in Konoha that sell weapons, the Milani Forge is known for its quality offerings. You can explore the village and find other shops that cater to ninja weaponry if you're in need.

Now, let's move to a place with a different atmosphere – the cemetery and the Memorial Stone. Here, most of Konoha's shinobi are laid to rest and remembered for their services to the village. The Memorial Stone bears the names of those who carried the will of fire, serving as a reminder to the living. While some bodies couldn't be recovered and aren't buried here, the Memorial Stone ensures that their memories live on in the hearts and minds of the villagers.

That concludes our tour of Konoha. We've covered a wide range of places and experiences, although there are some aspects we couldn't delve into due to confidentiality. We hope you've enjoyed the tour, and we look forward to welcoming you back to Konoha in the future.

(A/N: This is a chapter for world-building if you will, so naturally it won't progress the plot. But it will paint a better picture when it comes to the world this story is set in, throughout the series we really never got to have a closer look at Konoha as a whole. Heck, I just learned recently that the Academy and Hokage Tower are essentially the same building. So yeah haha, thanks for the continuous support. I really appreciate it and I enjoy writing these and thank you for bearing with me on how inconsistent I upload (I did warn you all so yeah haha) cheers ^^)
