A few days before the Hogwarts express was due to depart the Potter, Weasleys and Grangers descended upon Diagon Alley. It was a chaotic mess with so many people but they made it work.
When the very large group arrived at Gringotts they had to split up the party temporarily. The Potters and Blacks were shown into private rooms so they could discuss investments and budgets before withdrawing gold. The grangers needed to see a teller so that they could exchange pounds to wizard currency. The Weasleys were left waiting in the foyer while Mrs Weasley went to their vault.
When the group met up the first stop had to be Madam Malkins and with so many people needing fitting the poor shopkeepers were run ragged for a little while. Sirius had tried to pay for the Weasleys' uniforms but Mrs Weasley was adamantly refusing.
Hermione, who had already picked up all the books that she needed, still refused to leave Diagon Alley without visiting the book store. Surprisingly she didn't leave with many more books she had commented about wanting to get a pet since it had recently been her birthday.
An hour later Hermione came out of the pet store with a new Cat. This unfortunately had been a very sore spot for Ron who was still upset about losing his pet Rat. Ginny receiving an owl had really upset him now Hermione had a new pet too he was feeling exceptionally sour.
Thankfully despite how he was feeling Ron did not mention his upset right then. With the shopping done the three families headed into muggle London to share a meal together. This time Mrs Weasley did not get a chance to argue payment.
The four families were enjoying a nice curry in a quiet side of London. It was a nice event and everyone was having fun, even the pompous Percy. As the group was leaving the restaurant the grangers got into a taxi. The weasleys who were too big of a party for a taxi took the night bus. Because it was dark no one noticed a lone Rat that got off the bus. Now the Potters and Blacks were left they got into their usual apparition groups.
Just as the group disappears a green jet of light sped toward them. The Rat had been too slow on the Draw but no one missed the spell and when the group landed Sirius was gone again. Marlene, fearing what her husband would do, left too after telling the children to stay put.
The event had shocked Harry quite a bit. Though he did not remember his parents death too well, that green spell was all too familiar. Rose did not remember the flash and was quite worried upon seeing Harry's reaction and went straight to hugging him. Capella hugged him too.
"That light." He said after a short minute of hugs. "That is the same light that killed our parents."
Harry who had learnt at a young age not to cry was sat shocked but Rose after hearing this started to cry missing her parents. Harry, who was getting better with hugs, pulled his sister close, Capella, knowing she would not want to let go.
Marlene came back around twenty minutes later.
"I am sorry we left like that. Whoever attacked us was gone when we went back. Sirius has gone to talk to Albus."
When Sirius came back he could tell the group was upset and he knew his wife would not be happy with how he left. He was correct and when he arrived his wife pulled him into another room, for a moment they could hear Sirius getting scolded pretty harsley before it went dead silent.
"Mom probably used a silencing charm for privacy." Capella offered as an explanation.
"I mentioned before wanting to see our parents' graves." Harry said after a while.
"I think we should ask Uncle Sirius." He finished.
"I think so too we can ask when he comes back" Rose replied. Capella looked conflicted with this. She could understand wanting to see their parents' graves but didn't know how her own dad would take it.
Rose, who was becoming quite good at reading her best friend pulled her off to the side.
"What's wrong?"
Rose could see Capella clearly thinking how to respond tooke Capella's hand in hers.
"Tell me please."
"I am just worried how daddy will react to seeing his best friend's graves." Capella replied slowly, worrying about Rose's response.
Rose, who was a smart girl, understood. She took Capella and pulled her close.
"I didn't think about that. But there is no one else to take us."
Capella didn't feel like anything else needed to be said, laid in Rose's embrace taking comfort in being close to her.
When the adults returned to the room it was clear Marlene had been crying and Sirius looked incredibly guilty. He pulled all of the children into hugs before apologising to them.
Everyone could see that this wasn't the time to ask Sirius and they all went to bed for the night, Rose dragging Capella with her.
With only one free day before the 1st september opportunities to visit the graves were scarese. So when they met for breakfast the next morning the air was a little tense. Sirius who was still feeling a little guilty believing this was his fault apologised again.
"Uncle Sirius." Harry started unsure of his uncle's response.
"What is it Harry? You look nervous."
"Me and Rose, we want to do something that may be hard for you." Sirius was confused but looked ready to listen.
"It's not dangerous is it?" Marlene asked looking up from her daily prophet.
"It's not mommy." Capella assured her.
"Then I can't see why I would say no." Sirius responded.
"We want to visit our parents' graves if they have one." Harry finally said, reassured by Rose's hand on his shoulder.
Sirius visibly tensed and Marlene dropped her paper, now looking at her husband.
"I should have done this sooner." Sirius said slowly looking into his lap. "I'm sorry I didn't. I didn't want to see them like that. You know."
Marlene was suddenly by Sirius' side she was whispering into his ear though what was being said they could not hear.
"We can go after breakfast." Sirius told the group after an agonising few minutes. Harry let out the breath he had been holding and Rose went to hug Sirius.
"I know this is going to be really hard Uncle Siri, I'm sorry we have to make you see it too."
Sirius, hearing what Rose was saying, pulled her into his lap and smiled at her.
"It's a parent's job to do the hard things as well as the easy things. I know I am not your dad but I still care for you like one."
"You know we both see you as our parental figure. You have done good for us Uncle Siri."
Sirius gave Rose another hug before pushing her out of his lap gently.
"Go finish your breakfast."
With breakfast finished Sirius was looking uncommonly nervous. Marlene kissing him gently gave him some courage he would need for the trip ahead. Rose, seeing Marlene and Sirius, moved closer to Capella.
"I think I am going to need you close today, stay by my side?"Capella without responding pulled Rose close to her side as they went over to Sirius.
"I've been wondering why we always appear in these pairs."Harry asked.
"It is hard to apparate with multiple people side apparating with you. It takes a great deal of magical strength to pull two people. Girls being lighter than males makes the stain on Sirius' magic a little less. I am not strong enough to pull two even if they were both girls. Sirius could probably do you and a girl If you wanted to swap."
As Marlene said this Harry shook his head and moved toward Marlene.
"I have no problem with it, I just wanted to know why it was that way, apparating is interesting."
With that out of the way the group left the castle and reappeared in a small English village. The weather was cold and It felt like the weather was reflecting the mood of the group gathered. Without delay the group followed Sirius toward the church viable in the distance.
It was a short walk and with each step closer to the church it felt harder to walk. Rose was feeling incredibly nervous and was pulled closer to Capella. The gate to the graveyard creaked open eerily, the vast scene of gravestones laying ahead left the group with feelings of sadness.
Sirius seemed to know exactly where to look because he was walking in a straight line not looking at the graves he was passing, it seemed like he wanted to get there as fast as possible. All of a sudden he stopped walking and wiped a tear from his eye and looking down it was clear why he was tearing up.
A bench sat close to the grave and Rose unable to look at the grave stone yet sat upon it tears falling from her eyes. Harry was struggling to but he knelt down and started talking to their parents. Rose watched as he powered through even though it looked hard, she couldn't help but be in awe of his strength in that moment.
Once Harry stood up Sirius took him in his arms and for the first time Rose saw him openly crying. It was a hard scene to watch but Rose was happy that Sirius was trying to calm him. Rose, seeing that she couldn't put it off any longer, sat by the grave and was not sure how to start looking at Capella.
"Hey mom, Hey dad. This is Capella, she is Sirius' daughter and my best friend, maybe more." She spoke to the gravestone.
"I don't know what to say, really I wish I could have met you. I was sorted into Slytherin you're not mad are you? The hat wants me to try to fix the divide between the houses but I don't know how and haven't really done good so far."
At this Capella looked at her surprised. Knowing now was not the time to ask, she just smiled at Rose and kissed her cheek.
"I don't know if you are watching but me and Harry are finally living together. I am supposed to be his advisor but I don't really understand what that entails. But I will try to do my best to help him. Uncle Sirius has been looking after us well so please send him strength if you can."
At this point she looked over to see Sirius and Harry watching her.
"I don't really know what else to say so I am going to let Uncle Sirius talk to you."
With this Rose stood up and went to hug Harry, he seemed to be happy for the hug, returning it and holding Rose close. Capella who was close by went to hug her dad.
"You should talk to them. If you don't you're gonna regret it daddy."
Sirius looked at his daughter for a long moment. Before hugging her and pushing her toward Rose. Marlene took Capella's place and led him toward the grave.
"When did you get so smart." Sirius said as he left.
Rose, who had seen Capella be pushed into her, held Capella close. The girls were pleasantly surprised when Harry joined in the hug. Suddenly Harry had his wand out and pointed a little ways off. Rose and Capella, not knowing what he had seen or heard, copied Harry.
"Who is there?" Harry shouted into the open drawing the attention of Sirius and Marlene who were by the childrens sides instantly.
From out of the shadows of a tall grave a man, scared and grey eyed, showed himself.
"You have some amazing senses Harry." The man said.
Sirius looked like he had seen a ghost.
"Why now? I have been trying to contact you all summer."
"Daddy, who is this?" Capella asked.
"That is Capella? She looks just like you, Sirius. The other girl must be Rose? She looks like her dad too." Sirius was clearly unsure what he should be thinking and did not respond right away.
"That man Is Remus Lupin." Marlene stated seeing Sirius was currently not able to answer.
"Moony?" Capella asked, surprised.
The man named Remus looked a little surprised at being called Moony again. He was looking at Sirius and Rose was sure that he looked ashamed.
"Why did you not answer my letter Mr Lupin? Timbur never fails to deliver a letter so I know you got it."
Remus looked at Rose and so did Harry and Capella.
"I did not reply for a few reasons. At first I did not reply because I was a broken man. I had lost all the friends I held dear. I believed that one had murdered another and was the reason two more were dead. I fell into a deep depression, one I couldn't climb out of. When I found out Sirius was innocent I was too busy feeling guilty that I had believed the lies. I didn't have the bravery to face him again. I didn't feel like I was worth knowing and so I made sure you wouldn't know me."
Sirius moved toward the grey eyed man and hugged him. It was an emotional reunion and It felt sort of like they were intruding by watching it. Rose had never heard of such sadness and was finding it hard to comprehend.
"Why are you here Mr Lupin?" Harry asked once Sirius released the man.
"Well I am sure you will find out soon but I am going to be teaching DaDa this year and so I came to say goodbye to James and Lily." Sirius was suddenly really happy and hugged his friend again.
"You would make a great teacher moony. How about we get you some new clothes first, these ones are bad." Sirius told him. Not mincing his words.
"Sirius. I." Sirius did not give him time to respond.
"Remus, we have already lost so much time. Don't let us waste anymore by putting misplaced blame on yourself. We hid the truth about the secret keeper and I was the one who acted rash. The only guilt I put on you is not coming by sooner."
Remus' eyes misted over and the two old friends hugged once more. Once Sirius let go of Lupin, Marlene hugged him. Lupin was looking at the children and he couldn't help but feel sad for the time he missed.
Sirius seemed to realise that it was getting a little awkward for the group who didn't know this man. "How about we take the kids home and I come back and we get you clothed properly."
Remus, who knew Sirius would not let this go, nodded his head and went over to the grave saying his goodbyes to the group.
Sirius and Marlene took the children back to the castle once there they started packing. Sirius had bought the children fancy multi compartment trunks and Rose was eager to see just how much she could fill it.
That night the elves prepared a lavish meal. The elves were sad to see the young master and mistress' leave and wanted to give them the best meal possible. Remus had joined them for the meal but left suspiciously early. Sirius had said they would find out eventually and not to ask until they knew him better.
As the meal was ending and people were preparing for bed, Sirius pulled Rose and Capella aside.
"You two still haven't moved those capsules, if you're not going to use them we should get rid of them."
"Oh don't worry about those they are in my trunk now." Capella said laughing.
"Didn't think we were going to use them here right? You would have seen right through it."
Sirius started laughing too and complained half heartedly.
"I am still very curious about what you have planned for them."
"I am sure you will hear about it if we get caught." Rose added, taking Capella's hand.
"We're going to bed Daddy Goodnight." Capella said, kissing her Dad's cheek.
"Separate beds right?" Sirius asked, watching them leave.
"Probably not Uncle Siri."
With this proclamation the two girls walked away unaware that Sirius was watching them and trying to decide what to do about the two girls' ever growing closeness. He was happy the two were close but nervous as they got older about them being alone in bed. Sighing he went to speak to his wife who he knew was thinking the same thing.
The next morning Sirius and Marlene decided they had to have a sit down with Rose and Capella. Harry was a little confused why he wasn't included but went to breakfast alone while the others talked.
"Rose, Capella we have noticed how close you girls are and we have no intention of interfering in that but we felt it was time we had a chat." Sirius and Marlene sat down on the bed that Rose and Capella were laying in as they spoke this.
"What do you mean Dad?" Capella asked, sitting against the headboard and rubbing sleep from her eyes, Rose mimicking her action.
"Well as people grow up and fall in love they tend to want to do certain actions." Sirius attempted tenderly.
Rose, who had seen enough tv growing up, groaned a little, making Capella look at her confused. This caused Sirius to laugh involuntarily.
"We know you spend a lot of nights together and want you to promise us that you won't engage in sexual activities until you're older." Marlene added wanting this to be as quick as possible.
Rose turned beet red and Capella looked a little confused.
"How do two girls, you know, anyway?"
Sirius, who had not been expecting that choked on the air he had just sucked in. Marlene nearly fell off the bed laughing and Rose hit Capella on the arm lightly.
"I really don't want to discuss that with Uncle Sirius, Capella. When we are older we can experiment." While this answer satisfied Capella, Marlene and Sirius shared a look.
"That is the kind of behaviour that we want to discourage until you're older." Marlene added, looking at the two girls.
"Aunt Marlene, neither of us are ready for that. We are taking it slow and haven't even said we are dating yet." Rose said, leaning forward to hug Marlene.
"We won't rush anything, promise." Capella added now feeling more embarrassed than ever before. Sirius and Marlene seemed to think the girls understood and decided to leave the room and let the girls dress.
When the girls came downstairs a few minutes later both were still really embarrassed and couldn't look at Marlene or Sirius'.
When it was time for everyone to leave the elves brought the luggage down and with tears in their eyes said their goodbyes. With goodbyes said they disappeared from the castle appearing on the station. Despite it being a full half hour early the station was already full of families hoping to snag the spaces on the train they wanted.
Being on the station Rose said goodbye to her brother. Despite wanting to sit with him there was just not enough room for everyone. The Greengrasses were the first to join the group and Astoria and Daphne joined Rose in her compartment.
With just five minutes to spare the weasleys arrived. Ginny joined Rose and her friends. With these people now gathered Rose locked the compartment not wanting anyone else to join them.
As soon as Ginny had packed her things in storage she pulled Rose and Capella into a tight hug.
"An Owl is too much for a gift." She scolded but still not letting them go.
"You are our friend, we wanted you to have a pet."
With the train starting to leave Rose and Capella pulled Ginny next to them on the bench.
Once sat down Ginny turned to the other two girls in the compartment.
"Sorry I was too excited. It's good to see you both again."
The two girls just laughed and returned the hellos. At that moment a knocking on the door drew their attention. Once they saw Malfoy at the window they chose to ignore him and talk to each other.
Astoria who was excited to finally go to Hogwarts was eagerly telling the girls to change into their robes, she was so eager she already had her casual half way off, embarrassing the other girls in the compartment.
Despite being embarrassed the girls decided to follow the lead of Astoria and change. Rose was happily watching Capella change when she was elbowed by Daphne who was smirking. Blushing at being caught, Rose quickly changed.
Once changed Ginny happily showed off her wand holster showing how useful it is. Daphne was looking at it seemingly interested and Astoria was complaining that they couldn't just hold it all the time, she was eager to do magic again.
Sitting close to the front of the train meant that the food cart came by fairly early. Astoria like Rose and Capella were eager to buy lots of snacks and share them. The space on the seat by Astoria was now filled with snacks.
The train ride was a nice relaxing time and Rose couldn't help but be lulled to sleep by the sound of the train on the tracks. Rose didn't wake before the train arrived in hogsmeade. Being woken up by a kiss from Capella was a way Rose was certainly liking getting used to.
Now they were at the train station Astoria was unusually quiet. It was clear to all the girls that she was nervous. Rose pulled her into a short hug surprising the younger girl who only really hugged Daphne or her parents.
After a second Astoria hugged Rose back. The hug itself was short and Astoria felt a little better after it. Daphne, who wanted to see her sister on a boat, requested that Rose and Capella save a carriage up to the school, with Ginny following them.
"It sucks that my two best friends are not in my house." Ginny said once the three girls had sat down.
The comment, while seemingly innocent, hit hard with Rose as she remembered Ginny's first year. Standing up Rose pushed Ginny into Capella and hugged her close while Capella held her on the other side.
"We are here for you anytime no matter the house Ginny." Rose told her.
"Yeah you are our best friend too. I will get Daddy to make you a mirror. I can't believe I didn;t think to ask him sooner." Capella added.
"A mirror?" Ginny asked.
"Uncle Sirius can charm mirrors to communicate with each other." Rose told Ginny as Daphne entered the carriage.
"Where is my mirror?" She asked with humour in her voice.
"We can definitely get you one too." Capella said, smiling at Daphne.
"I was joking." Daphne said laughing.
"It's not like it is hard to do." Capella responded.
With that said the group enjoyed the short ride up to the school. Once at the entrance to the great hall Rose and Capella hugged Ginny goodbye. Once seated at their table they couldn't help but notice Blaize watching them.
Still upset at Blaize, the girls didn't acknowledge him. Instead they waited for the sorting. Looking up at the staff table Rose gave a small wave to Lupin who nodded his head showing he had seen. Sirius had indeed dressed him up and the professor was looking smart and ready to work.
When the new students were brought in Rose, Capella and Daphne waved to Astoria hoping to fill her with comfort.
The hat did not seem to struggle when deciding where to place Astoria. Just moments after the hat touched her head it shouted "Slytherin!"
