What Comes After

Where…..where am I? Mako wondered as he tried to open his eyes, his eyelids feeling like they were weighed down by tons as he forced them open. He was met with a blinding white light that made him immediately close them with a groan from the sudden brightness.

"Honey?" his mom's voice said, making his eyes blink open despite the blinding light, giving his eyes a few seconds to adjust he saw his mother sitting in a chair against the wall past the foot of his bed. His legs wrapped up in casts and hung up with straps around them hooked to pullies above him. His arms also had bracers as well laid across his stomach. His face was still bruised and cut, with patches of bandages covering the various wounds. His right eye was still swollen but not as badly as before, but the skin around it was red from the blood buildup. A brace was also around his neck, preventing him from turning his head, he opened his mouth but when he tried to speak, he could only cough.

His mother rose from her seat, "Don't try and talk, you've been out for a week." she said with care, walking over to his side, grabbing a cup off the counter with a straw. "Here, drink." she offered, mako opened his mouth and let the straw in before drinking. The cold water washing down his dried throat like water through a desert, he felt his mom lay a hand on the side of his head, he flinched from the touch, "I am so proud of you." Kali told him with love in her voice.

It was like unlocking a door, he remembered, the USJ. The Villains. His father. The truth….the fight….the deaths.

He choked the water down as fresh tears gathered in his eyes, Oh my god….. he thought in horror as he looked at his mother sadly. She gently leaned over and embraced him, making sure not to disturb his wounds.

For the next week, Mako drifted in and out of consciousness inside the small room, each time he awoke he noticed that some of his bandages where gone. By the end of the next week, his casts were removed from his arms and legs, when he finally blinked awake he saw Cecil standing by the door. Reaching his hand up he rubbed the sand out of his eyes, "Ugghh….Cecil?" he asked, unsure if he was actually asleep or not.

"That was a hell of thing you did kid." he praised, Mako sighing sadly as he leaned back into the pillow behind him.

"I….I was hoping it just a bad dream." he admitted.

Cecil crossed his arms over his chest, "Wish it were kid." he agreed, looking down at the ground before returning his gaze back to the teen in the bed. He stepped off from the doorway, "You up for a walk?" he asked. Mako nodded and pulled the covers aside, showing the plain white T-Shirt and grey sweats that had been given to him to wear. Sliding his feet off the bed, he pushed off and winced from his sore muscles but walked after Cecil regardless.

"You've been out for two weeks, in that time U.A. closed down to let it's students recover for a week but they've started classes back up." Cecil began as they walked down the hall. "What happened has been constantly on the news, all over the world." he said, making Mako's brow shoot up.

"Everyone knows?" he asked, it shouldn't be that big of a surprise considering what happened but the thought that everyone on the planet knew what happened wasn't exactly comforting.

Cecil nodded as they continued walking, "Yes but we put out a statement to clarify the situation. That you had no idea what your father was doing these past few months, or what his goal was." he explained. He turned to Mako with a sympathetic look, "Though…as I'm sure you can imagine, not everyone has been accepting of that fact." he explained. Mako looked down, "People are scared right now kid, Nolan was one of the well-known heroes on the planet, and the fact he was a villain in secret…..well it's making people second guess what we know about anything related to him." he reasoned.

The teen frowned but nodded as they approached a door that slid open, "I also had your mother watch the footage we recorded of your battle. She was upset but I didn't want you to have to explain everything to he." he explained.

"You what?!" Mako exclaimed, remembering everything his father said to him, the thought that his mom had heard all of it and how she would react making his heart ache. "How could you do that?!" he angerly asked.

Cecil turned to him, "Don't you think she deserves to know the truth?" he asked him simply.

Mako opened his mouth to retort, but soon closed it as he considered it. If he had to tell her? Then there was a chance he would sugar coat things to try and spare her some grief, "I….I suppose your right." he admitted as he looked up and noticed something. The room they were in was completely white.

Not that everything was painted white, but there was just an empty white space all around them! "Wait a second, where are we?" he asked as he looked around, not even seeing the door that they entered from.

Cecil realized what he was talking about, "Oh, sorry. Lights." he called out. Suddenly the empty space was gone and in its place was a large room with various scientists working on multiple projects around them. Mako saw blueprints for some sort of satellite on a hologram table, a couple rows of people at computers working hard on something, and other projects that he couldn't quite make out. "Alright that's enough, Lights." he commanded, the room gone now and once again replaced with the white void.

"What the-where did that all go?" Mako asked in bafflement.

Cecil smirked, "It's still here, the water that a large percentage of the world so conveniently drinks from their taps is laced with a certain chemical that inhibits the ability to see certain frequencies of light. Those frequencies are used in this room." he explained as Mako looked around in amazement.

"So it's just all invisible?" he asked.

"You, and everyone else in the world, do not have the ability to see inside this room and anywhere else the frequency is used. You'd be surprised how often we use it." he said before his tone changed. "Anyway….your father." he began, Mako's wonder being replaced with solemnity, "You father didn't change trajectory when he flew into space, so wherever he's going it's pretty damn far, there are some planets that can support life out there so he's probably heading to one of those." he explained.

Mako looked down, he didn't know if he should feel relieved, or miserable, "And with your father gone…..we need a replacement."

Mako's head snapped back up and looked at Cecil who was looking back at him, he blinked a few times, "Wait….you want me?" he asked in disbelief. He shook his head, "I-I-I'm still in high school! I'm not a pro hero." he rebuked.

"True. Which is why I wouldn't pull you out of school, you'd still attend your classes but when I needed you? You'd be excused and allowed to work as a GDA Agent, like how you did with our alien invader a few weeks back." he explained. Mako was taken aback, his unsureness visible on his face, Cecil sighed, "Truth is Mako….Nolan was a big player for the heroes. And if he ever comes back….I'm going to need someone who can go toe to toe with him. I know this is a lot to ask you, and I wouldn't be asking you if I didn't have any other options but….well the Guardians are a force, but a Viltrumite on our side can help a lot of people." he said.

Mako pursed his lips together in contemplation, "Can I have a few days to think it over?" he asked.

Cecil nodded, "Of course. I know this is a lot to dump on you at once, take all the time you need." he said before a shimmering doorway opened, walking through it with Cecil Mako was surprised to find himself in the lobby of his apartment building. "I have some of my security people stationed here, only a few people know that Nolan used to live here but with social media that will probably spread out. They shouldn't bother you unless they find something that could be a threat." he explained as they walked to the elevator.

"Ok, thanks Cecil…..for all of this. I apricate it." he said as the doors opened. The agency head nodded before turning back and walking through the door of light back to the agency. As the elevator doors closed, Mako wanted to collapse against the wall from how much his feet ached. Hovering a few inches off the ground of the elevator, he let out a relieved sigh, "Much better." he said as the lift carried him to the penthouse floor.

When the doors opened, he floated out and saw that his mom was not alone, "MAKO HONEY!" Inko Midoriya exclaimed before darting across the room and wrapping him up in a hug as tears poured out of her eyes. Mako winced as he felt his still sensitive ribs slowly be crushed by Inko's embrace, "Oh you had me and Izuku worried sick!" she wailed before someone walked up behind her and pried her off Mako so he could breathe.

"Jeeze Inko you're gonna put the kid back in the ICU." Mitsuki Bakugo chided her friend, Mako was surprised to see Bakugo's mom of all people in his home. She looked at him with a look of sympathy, which considering how much her son took after her was somewhat strange for him to see. "How are you doing kid?" she asked.

Mako rubbed the back of his head, "Fine I guess. I'm out floating around at least." he said, gesturing to his feet hovering off the ground. "Kind of hurts to stand." he admitted as his mom walked over to him and softly embraced him as not to aggravate his injuries. He embraced her back before pulling away, "I'm um….Is it ok if I go to my room?" he asked.

"Of course." his mom said with a small smile.

Mako nodded before floating up to the second floor and entering his bedroom, when the door closed, Kali let out a breath. Inko walked over to her side and held her hand, "Come on dear, sit down." she urged, walking with her back to the couch while Mitsuki took the chair.

"Thank you. Both of you….." she said gratefully.

"Of course." Inko replied.

"Yeah. When I turned on the news and saw…..well I didn't want you to be alone." Mitsuki said carefully. The former(?) wife of Nolan nodded in appreciation, "So how are you doing?" she asked.

Kali sighed, he head falling into her hands, "I just….I can't believe all of it…..all these years was just a lie." she mourned. She remembered first meeting Nolan, how he stopped a car from falling on her after it was thrown by some villain. She remembered falling in love with him, teaching him about humanity…..and now it was all just tainted by him. "I thought….I thought he loved me."

Fresh tears rolled down her face, "God what is wrong with me? I miss him! All these horrible things he's done and I-" she began.

"Nothing." Mitsuki interrupted, Kali looked up at the woman who had a firm look in her eyes, "Kali you did absolutely nothing wrong. You were fooled just like all of us were, you can't blame yourself for not seeing who he was." she stated. "There's nothing wrong with missing the man you loved. He just…lied about it." she said with a bitter tone. "Screw him, not you."

Kali wiped away her tears, "I just…..I don't even know what to do now." she admitted.

Inko squeezed her hand, "You look after your son Kali. He's…..he's going through this too." she said, glancing up to the bedroom where Mako went into.

Inside, Mako looked up to the ceiling of his room with a blank expression. He was glad that his mom had some people to talk to about what happened, he wasn't sure if he was ready to get into a whole conversation with her about it yet. Oh yeah, I should check and see if Izuku texted me. he thought as he reached over to his bedside table, his hand ran over and when he didn't brush over his phone he stopped and looked over.

Oh damnit my phone is at school in my locker! he realized, his other hand running down his face in frustration. He had left it there before the field trip! So he couldn't even message anyone! "Shit." he cursed. The idea of going back to school tomorrow didn't sound appealing in the slightest, "I'll ask Ms. Midoriya if she can get Izuku to snag it for me." he decided. His lack of phone also meant that he could assure people that he was ok, like Melissa…..and just waiting to text her that he was ok didn't really seem like the right thing to do. "Well I got a few days off….might as well go see her."

The next day, Mako flew across the ocean to I-Island. After telling his mom his plans to visit, she cautioned him to be safe before giving him a kiss on the head and sending him off. As he flew over the manmade isle, he saw the crater which him and his father had created when he drove him down and winced. Heading for the academy building, he flew around the side and took a deep breath before hovering out in front of the window to Melissa' workshop and tapping on the glass.

Barely a second later the blonde girl's surprised face was at it and pushing it open, "Hey…" he greeted emptily. Melissa moved aside as he flew in and touched down on the ground, "I just….I came by to say I was ok and-" he began before being cut off as Melissa engulfed him in a hug. Taken aback by the sudden display of affection, he silently wrapped his arms around her and hugged her back, burying his head into her shoulder. "I'm sorry….I'm so sorry-" he whispered to her.

She pulled back, tears of relief in her eye which she wiped away, "What do you have to be sorry for?" she choked out.

He looked down, "I didn't stop him."

"Mako-"

"I just…I wasn't strong enough, or-or fast enough-"

"Mako-!"

"An when I went down here I just-"

Her hands cupped the sides of his face and forced him to look at her, "Mako! Stop! Your…..your alive." she breathed out. "I…me and Papa were watching the news. I saw you save those people Mako. And then he just…he killed them. With you….and then he hit you and….." she let out a shaky breath before looking into his eyes. "I know you did everything you could. And I'm just so happy that you're alive." she said.

Mako's head tilted down, "I….I'm sorry I just popped up like this-"

"Don't be." she assured him as she let go of his face and moved to slide a chair over so they could sit down. "Are you feeling ok?" she asked with concern as he sat down.

He took a deep breath, "I….I don't know." he admitted, "I just feel….hollow. Like this is all a bad dream and any minute I'll wake up but…." he shook his head. As much as he wished he could wake up from this nightmare he knew it wasn't going to happen. Looking across to Melissa, he saw she was watching him with concern, "How about you? Was….was the damage bad here?" he asked.

She shook her head, "No….aside from those reporters, no one else was killed." she answered, she watched him visibly untense at the news.

"Thank god…when I crashed down here and realized where I was…I was scared about you….and your dad." he added when he saw the way her eyes widened. "I've….actually been thinking a lot about you lately." Melissa's face warmed up and her gaze turned away in embarrassment. "S-Sorry. I didn't-" he apologized.

She looked back to him, "No! It's fine I'm just…..touched." she admitted. Mako for the first time gave her a small smile. The blonde took a breath, "And….well…..for the past two weeks I've been….thinking about you too." she admitted. Mako swallowed at the admission, "Do you think…..that might mean something? You…..thinking about me?" she asked, he hand reaching up and brushing her hair back nervously.

"I….." he began, "….I….I think so….maybe?" he admitted, looking away. "I don't…..I mean yeah, I almost died, you'd probably be thinking of me a lot because of that." he reasoned.

Melissa nodded, "Obviously but…I thought a lot about you before then." she admitted, Mako swore he felt his chest ache again. And he was suddenly made aware of just how close they where, sitting down with their knees almost touching. Looking back up at her he also realized they where both leaning forward slightly, but neither of them moved.

"Melissa I…." he pressed his lips together, "I….I don't want you to feel you….have to….just to make me feel better." he said, trying to put into words his doubts.

The blonde support seemed taken aback but her surprise slowly faded into understanding, "It's not that Mako." she affirmed.

Mako's throat felt suddenly dry, as he opened his mouth to speak the door opened, startling both teens. David was at the door, "Mako!" He quickly made his way across his daughter's lab as he stood up, "Thank goodness you're alright!" he said, setting a hand down on the boy's shoulder in relief. "Me and Melissa saw the news, what happened?" he asked.

Mako looked over at Melissa, the blonde girl's face a little red but her eyes just as inquisitive, "Well….my dad went to space, he didn't change his course so he's probably somewhere really far away by now." he said, recalling what Cecil told him. David let out a breath of relief at the news, "I'm….I'm sorry about all of this."

The man was surprised by the apology, "Mako, you don't-"

"I know, I know…Melissa told me." he said, glancing over at her and making her smile. He let out a breath, "Honestly I still can't believe it, I mean first Villains attack my class at the USJ with a monster made to kill All Might…then I find out my dad was trying to do that already." he said sadly.

David's eyes widened at the news, "What? They had something to kill Toshi?" he asked in disbelief.

"Oh, right. Yeah with all the stuff about my dad I guess that got pushed to the side." he realized. He had seen nothing about the attack on the USJ on any of the news he saw on his phone unless he searched for it. "Some guy lead this assault on us thinking All Might was there with a couple dozen villains, and this big black monster thing with an exposed brain that was meant to kill All Might." he described, making the father and daughter cringe at the description.

"Is everyone ok?" David asked.

Mako recalled what his mother told him, "All Might was a little roughed up from my dad, but he's ok now apparently. Thirteen's suit was damaged but she's alright….my sensei got hurt badly though. He's alive but he had some fractures." he recalled; the scene of his head being slammed downplaying in his mind.

Melissa's hand covered her chest, "That's awful…."

Mako's brow creased, "That thing….I don't know what it was but no matter how hard I hit it, the damn thing just kept coming…..the guy in charge mentioned it had multiple quirks." he recalled. David's face visibly paled at the mention of that tidbit. Mako rubbed the back of his neck, "I ended up throwing it into space, it was the only way I could think of beating it." he said, causing David's expression to relax at that news.

"Well, at least you dealt with that threat before it could hurt All Might." he reasoned.

Mako nodded, if that thing had to fight All Might while his dad was fighting him? He couldn't imagine even All Might surviving those two together. "Well at least that thing is gone." he reasoned with a shrug.

Meanwhile. In King County Georgia.

"It's a god-dang UFO I tell you!" a local farmer said to a pair of Sheriffs as they exited their car, one of them wearing a hat with the badge in the middle of it while the other didn't. Behind the man was his barn with a noticeable hole in the roof and smoke coming from it.

The officer with the hat raised his hand up, "Calm down Tony, you called the station a dozen times. What's going on?" the sheriff asked him as he and his partner walked towards the barn with the farmer.

"Alright now listen, I was going about my chores like usual when I hear this big goddamn noise! Like thunder so loud that the ground shook!" he exclaimed as they walked up the path to the barn. "When I get back to the house I see this hole in the roof and…..well…I reckon you two better see it for yourself." he said as he approached the door which now had a padlock on it.

The sheriff held out his hand for the key, which Tony gifted him, the Sheriff looked to his partner who pulled out his gun from his holster before unlocking and opening the door, the big doors swung open, the two officer's jaws nearly dropping. "Holy…" the lead said as he ran his hand up into his hair beneath his hat in disbelief.

In the barn, sitting down was the Nomu, not moving, not responding to anything, not even blinking…..just sitting. "You see! I told you! It's an alien!" Tony said as he pointed at it as the sheriffs looked at one another before looking back at the creature.

"Rick…..do we call this in or….I mean with that Omni Man guy and all…."

"Yeah, yeah I'll…..god what do I even call this in as?" he asked.

Izuku was anxious for school to be over, when his mom returned home yesterday from Kali's, she had informed him that Mako had finally come back home and asked her if she could ask him to grab his phone and stuff from his locker at school. Which he readily accepted upon hearing it, he had half wanted to rush over and see his friend last night but thought better of it. But the next day he told Iida and Uraraka of what he learned and they had also asked to accompany him to Mako's place to check on him.

"Holy crap he lives here?!" Uraraka exclaimed when they stopped in front of the apartment building which Mako and his family lived in.

Izuku nodded beside her, but his attention was focused on the entrance of the building, which had been cordoned off with a small barrier with easily a few dozen people on either side.

"Where is he?! Where's Omni Man!?"

"His kid's got to know something!'

"My wife is dead because of that freak!"

"He could just be working with his old man!"

Izuku felt his jaw clench at some of the things he could hear from the crowd, I know that they're all hurting….but still, they shouldn't be blaming Mako for what his dad has done! he thought before Iida put a hand on his shoulder. He turned to his friend and saw that he too wasn't pleased, turning back to the building he saw a problem, "I don't think it's safe to use the front with that crowd of people there."

Iida nodded in agreement, "While I'd like to think these people wouldn't try to do anything, I wouldn't want to risk our safety over it." he reasoned.

Izuku nodded as Uraraka looked up at the building, "Is there another way in?" she asked her friend.

"Well there's the service exit that tenants use to take out the trash from…hmm, actually I might have an idea." he said.

Up in the apartment, Mako sat on his couch in the living room, flipping through TV Channels, however most of them had a broadcast of the recovery efforts going on from him and his father's battle. "While the recovery efforts are being assisted by multiple Pro Heroes, it's estimated that it will still take a month for the cleanup to finish. As for reconstruction, the hero Cementos has offered to aid in the reconstruction, along with the hero Steel Beam. While the death toll continues to rise however, many people are demanding accountability. The public safety commission has stated that, 'None where aware of Omni Man's true intentions when he came to Earth. However this devastation shows that we cannot take visitors from the stars at face value.' To that end, various Commissions from around the world have invested in Planetary Defense for Earth."

Mako hummed in thought as something tapped against the glass on his deck window, but he didn't hear it. "While this new stance on Extraterrestrial life has been met with little to no roadblocks, there have been questions raised about Omni Man's son." the reporter continued, making Mako frown. "The Global Defense Agency has gone on record stating that Omni Man's son, fought against his father for his planned actions against earth. And video evidence supports these claims, captured from other news reports as well as smart phones which captured the battle, the GDA has shown the full footage to government officials and are adamant that in this case, the apple does indeed fall far from the tree in this case."

Mako scoffed, "Yeah, away from the tree, off the cliff, and into a river." he said as something tapped against his window again. Turning his head, he saw a small rock floating away from the window up towards the sky. "What the hell?" he asked himself as he walked out to his balcony and looked over the side. Down below, he could see three figures on the ground waving up at him. A mop of green hair being one of them, Mako smiled and walked back inside to the intercom which led to the front desk where he could accept visitors.

A few minutes later, the elevator doors opened with Iida, Uraraka, and Izuku stepping out into his home. "Mako!" Izuku said, rushing over his friend, before Mako could even greet him, his friend embraced him with tears in trailing down his face.

The Viltrumite was taken aback for a second but chuckled hen he heard his friend whine, he returned the embrace, patting him on the back, "Hey man." he greeted as Izuku pulled away, "Oh god you really are your mother's son." he joked when he saw the number of tears spilling from his friend's face. Izuku quickly reached up and wiped them away as Uraraka came over and smiled at him. He gave her a small one back, "Hey guys…." he said, turning to Iida as well as he approached.

"S-Sorry, I know you asked me to pick up your stuff but….I didn't think you'd want to be alone." Izuku apologized.

He shook his head, "You guys are fine. So uh…welcome." he said to Iida and Uraraka, waving his arm out as Izuku handed him his bag. "And thank you."

The group walked into the living room, the trio taking seats on the couch while Mako sat in the chair, "I also got the schoolwork you've missed. We can help you with anything that's not really clear, but it's not too much." Iida added dutifully. Mako nodded his head but didn't seem interested, "Everyone else wishes you well, we wanted to send cards but they didn't tell us where you were recovering at." he added.

Mako looked at him gratefully, "Thanks I…..I apricate it." he said before looking down at his bag. "There's…there's something I want your guys' opinion on." he said.

"Of course Mako, what is it?" Uraraka asked readily.

The teen sighed, "Cecil, the head of the GDA told me that with my dad….gone. That he needs a replacement…..and he asked me to do it." he explained, causing the trio's eyes to widen at him. "He said I could still attend school, but when he needs me I'd go and do something for him…but…I don't know if I'm remotely ready for that." he admitted.

His friends' shock melted away into understanding, "Mako…what do you think?" Izuku asked him.

The Viltrumite rubbed the back of his scalp, "I…..I think that if my dad comes back, I'm going to have to go up against him…..and if I just stay in school? I don't think I'll be ready for when that happens." he admitted. "But after this?" he asked, pointing at the TV where another report about the destruction of him and his father's fight played, "I don't know if I should."

"But none of that is your fault!" Uraraka exclaimed.

Iida nodded, "She's correct Mako, your father was the one responsible for the destruction and lives lost." he reasoned.

"But I could have saved them…." Mako pointed out.

Izuku's lips pursed together, "Mako….you're still learning. We all are, I mean we were going to learn about rescue heroics the day this all happened…..it's not your fault." he reasoned, Mako's head bowed.

"You don't understand, if I got any chance of standing up against my dad? I have to be just as good as he was…..if I don't live up to that? How the hell do I beat him?" he asked. Ever since he was a kid, his father had been his idol, he wanted to be just as good as his dad and make him proud one day…..but now those feeling were twisted, warped after the revelations his father showed him.

Izuku was taken aback by his best friend's reasoning, "Mako…..you don't need to be the best version of your dad…..be the best version of you." he said, Mako lifting his head up to see his friend give him a small smile. "I mean, you beat him once already." he reminded. Uraraka and Iida both nodding in agreement.

"But what if my best me isn't enough?" he asked.

Izuku gave him a weird look, "Mako….you've been my best friend since I was five. How could the best you not be enough?" he asked.

Mako, for the first time since his fight with his father, genuinely smiled at his friend's words. "Midoriya is right, you've already proven that your ideals are stronger than your father's. At least to us." Iida added.

"Yeah, and besides even if you need help with school? We'll be here to help. We're your friends." Uraraka added supportively.

Mako felt like a weight had been lifted off his shoulders, before he could thank his friends for their support however, a shimmering doorway opened up in front of the coffee table, causing the four of the to yell out in shock, "GAH! Jesus Cecil!" he exclaimed as the director walked through, Mako held onto his chest where his heart was racing, "You're gonna find out if you can give Viltrumites heart attacks if you do that again." he said, the others standing at the ready before seeing who it was.

"Look sorry to barge in, and I know you said you needed time but we have a problem." he said hurriedly, sobering Mako up. "Our deep space satellites picked up something approaching Earth. We don't know what it is but…." he trailed off, Mako swallowed at the implication.

But he stood nonetheless, "I'm on it." he said, flying up to his room and through his open door, he snagged his spare costume from his closet before flying out his window and taking off up into the sky as fast as he could! Slipping his mask down over his head as he reached the atmosphere, he took a deep breath before all noise around him faded away into the void.

It was at this point he realized he didn't know what exact direction the object was coming from. Shit…..I just kind of assumed it was up. he admitted to himself as he looked around. Alight, no big deal, just orbit around Earth, keep your eyes peeled. he thought before flying off around the big blue planet. Within minutes he could see the moon on the dark side of the planet, passing a satellite he noticed something off in the distance, getting closer towards him. Alright…..here it goes. he thought as he stopped himself, clenching his fists and raising them as the shape got closer.

Mako's hands began to shake, Stop! You can't be scared. You- he began to think before the figure began to slow down and Mako finally saw who it was, "ALLEN!?" he exclaimed upon seeing the alien cyclops, whose wide eye seemed just as surprised to see him.

"MAKO! Thank heavens! I'm not too late." the alien thought to him in relief as the teen lowered his hands. "I'm here to warn you." he explained.

Dread began to fill Mako, "Warn me? About what?" he asked.

The alien raised his hands, "Ok so when I returned to the Coalition of Planets and told them that I had becoming to Earth instead of Urath for all these years? They lost their minds." he began.

Mako tilted his head, "Ok? Yeah I sort of get why they would."

Allan shook his head, "No not like that! Earth off limits for any planet in the Coalition! There's a Viltrumite living on your planet!" he exclaimed dramatically.

Mako could do nothing but stare at the alien, "….Oh….Um…"

"I know! It's shocking, wait, you might not know about them-" Allan began before Mako raised his hands.

"No I…..ok well this is kind of awkward and long." he began as he flew towards the moon, a confused Allan following behind him to the surface of the orbiting body. Mako picked up a large rock and set it down across from another on the ground. "Ok this is gonna take a while to explain." he began.

One recap of the previous chapter later:

"YOU'RE A VILTRUMITE?!" Allan thought, his eye wide in disbelief. Mako nodded as the alien ran a hand up his head, "But…you don't work for them? And you and your dad fought because he was going to conquer your world?" he asked, making sure that he understood what his friend had told him.

"Nope, never even been off Earth before." he confirmed.

Allan still seemed shocked by the whole ordeal, "I can't believe this! I've never even met a Viltrumite who just….sat down and talked." he admitted before shaking his head and cupping his chin in thought. "What's really bizarre is that your father just left his post. Viltrumites, well the reports that we have of them have never indicated that they would abandon their post, it just doesn't happen!" he exclaimed.

Mako leaned forward in interest, "My dad left a week ago, and he can hold his breath for about that long. Is it possible that he already reached Viltrum?" he asked with concern.

Allen shook his head, much to the teen's relief, "No, Earth is way out of the Viltrumite's sphere of influence. I mean one of the reasons I came out this way was because to help prepare planets for when they eventually send a scout out here like your father." he explained. Mako visibly relaxed at the news, his biggest fear was that his father could have already reached his home planet and could return with reinforcements. Allen however looked remorseful, "The Viltumites invaded my planet hundreds of years ago, we resisted and they destroyed our world rather than lose it."

Mako's face crunched up in sorrow, "Oh god, Allan, I'm so sorry." he apologized.

The alien gave him a small smile, "Hey it's not your fault. Happened way before you were born. I mean sure my people are now nomads and need breeding camps to survive but that's not on you." he dismissed easily. Mako taken aback by that little tidbit of information, "But the Coalition of Planets will want to hear about this, there's a power struggle forming in the far reaches of deep space." he explained, reigniting Mako's interest.

"What kind of power struggle?" he asked.

"The Coalition is trying to unite enough planets to stop the Viltrumite empire. Alone? Viltrumites can be defeated, but with others? They can be unstoppable. And they have hundreds of worlds under their command to do their fighting for them where they see fit." he explained.

Mako frowned, "My dad mentioned something like that. He wanted to do the same with Earth." he recalled.

Allan cupped his chin, "Well from what you told me about how humans are able to develop a wide range of powers? That could change the tide of power easily, humans could be an invasion force that could greatly increase the rate of their world take overs." he reasoned, making Mako's heart sink at the thought of countless people being conscripted against their will to serve the empire or die. "Your father leaving though….this could be the advantage that we're looking for." he thought.

Mako considered the situation, he wasn't alone, there were other people willing to stand up against the Viltrumites. "Let me know if I can do anything to help. I'm not going to sit by while Viltrum tries to claim Earth to be part of their empire." he decided.

Allan smiled at him, "Sure thing. But what about you? With your father gone, what's the plan now?" he asked.

Mako looked up at the Earth, "Finish High School I guess."

After bidding Allen farewell, Mako flew back home where Cecil and his friends were still waiting for him, where he informed them of what transpired. "This is great!" Izuku exclaimed.

Cecil nodded, "Yeah this is great work Mako, this information will put a lot of people at ease while we develop plans of our own." he said, equally impressed. He turned to the three students, "I hope I don't need to say that what we just discussed doesn't leave this room." he said sternly to the trio. Mako's friends all nodding obediently, "Alright then." he said as he opened another doorway.

"Cecil. Wait." Mako said, lifting up a hand and making the director stop, "About that offer? I'll take it." he decided, "I can't just sit on the sidelines while people are in trouble. And I need the experience if and when the Viltrumites get here." he reasoned. Out the corner of is eye, he saw Izuku beam at his friend's decision.

Cecil nodded with a small smirk, "Alright kid." he said, reaching into his pocket and tossing him something small which he caught, looking in his gloved palm, he saw it was an earpiece, "Put that in tomorrow morning. When I get something I need you to do? I'll call you." he said, the teen nodding in understanding before Cecil stepped through the portal to the GDA.

Iida looked down at the watch on his wrist, "Apologies Mako, but I should be leaving as well, the next train leaves soon and I should return home." he said with a bow of his head.

Uraraka winced, "Same, I got to get home and get my dinner started." she realized.

Their friend waved them off, "It's fine, you guys go. I'll see you in school." he said with understandinb. As the two friends bid farewell and entered the elevator, Mako and Izuku sat down on the couch of the living room.

Mako pulled his mask off and set it down across his lap, "I can fly you home, just let me rest for a minute." he said, leaning back against the couch cushions. While he and Allen didn't fight obviously, he was still recovering from his fight with his dad. His body was still a little sore from the battle, so flying was little tiring.

"Your fine." Izuku assured, turning his head to look at him, "So….feel any better?" he asked.

Mako looked down at his mask, "A little bit…..it's nice to know I'm not alone." he said, looking over and giving his friend a grateful smile. Izuku nodded, Mako letting out a sigh, "I just…..I keep thinking back on everything my dad told me…..shifting through what was a flat out lie, and what maybe had some truth to it….." he explained.

Izuku pursed his lips together, he couldn't imagine having to question everything that someone like All Might ever said to him. All Might….. the ninth inheritor glanced at his friend out the corner of his eye. I….I wanted to tell him about One for All. I thought that maybe he could help but…he's got so much going on right now. I can't burden him more with my secret. he thought.

Mako suddenly chuckled, making Izuku look at him, "A few months ago, we were playing ball in the sky above the house. This was right before we attended U.A. and I was feeling…..well, I felt like I didn't earn it." he explained.

The greenete frowned, "Mako, you shouldn't-"

"No, I don't feel like that anymore, I just…..he told me that people are age think we're invincible, and that it holds us back, makes us careless. But I was different…..and now? I don't think I was. I was cocky, I was so sure of myself because of my powers and I thought I was." he admitted. He remembered how he acted to Bakugo when he first got his powers, he might have deserved some of what he did but it didn't excuse how he acted. "And I think….I think that's not what it means to be that, I mean I'm not learning to be a hero for that reason, I'm not being a hero because I think I'm better then everyone else….I want to protect people. And if I want to do that? That's what I need to be…..Invincible."

Epilogue

"First time I've ever said this, but thank god we were in jail while all of that went down." one of the Muller Twins said as they watched the TV play the news from their cells in the GDA. Both of them wore the standard orange prison uniform, however one of them had undone the top so their white undershirt was exposed. The cells they were kept in where right next to one another. However instead of the standard bars, there was a gigantic lockd metal door with two small slides that allowed food to be pushed inside. Between them was a light blue force field which kept them separated, with a TV for each of them on either side with a basic remote for each. "And thank god we didn't set up our lab on I-Island like you preposed clone." the one in the full jumpsuit said to his brother.

The one in the white rolled his eyes, "If there wasn't a force field between us, I'd remind you that YOU are the clone." he said with irritation.

The twin in the jumpsuit groaned, "Again with this? We already decided that I was superior version of us. Thus, you are the clone." he reasoned.

"A single game of chess doesn't make you superior! You know what? Rematch." the other abruptly decided. The other looked at him with a roll of his eyes, "Best two out of three! If you win one more? Fine then I'll admit that you're able to exploit my mistakes. But if I can win against you twice in a row? Then what else but a clone could fail so badly?" he reasoned.

The one in the jumpsuit cupped his chin, "An interesting proposal…..fine. Where's the board?" he asked.

Before the two twins could search, the force field between them suddenly flickered as a green portal opened down the middle of the room and dispersed the energy field. "What the hell?!" They both exclaimed, they both readied for whatever exited the green portal, however both where shocked by what came out.

A man. A normal man with jeans, a button up shirt, and a pair of shoes, he had dark skin short black hair that was curled around is head with a matching goatee, "Hey, you guys the Muller Twins?" he asked. The two shocked villains slowly nodded, making the man perk up, "Ok! Great, I'm Angstrom Levy, and I'm your ticket out of here. Come on." he said, waving the two twins to follow him.

The two shared a look before nodding and following the man through the portal, when they walked out the other side, they were taken aback by the sight around them. They were in Japan, the buildings around them were toppled over with debris scattered all around. "My god….we heard about the battle between Omni Man and his son but we didn't think the damage was this bad." the one in the T shirt said in disbelief as his brother looked off in the distance, the destruction went for miles. They were currently on the decimated floor of a building, it's upper portion toppled over a few floors down from them.

Angstrom looked at them with confusion, "What? Oh, this.. this isn't from the battle between Invincible and his father. This is from a Nuclear War that happened shortly after the technology for nuclear weapons was discovered. The radiation levels are far below the dangerous levels, this isn't teleporting, this is a different Dimension." he explained to the pair.

They both blinked, "That's an….incredibly powerful quirk." one of the Mullers said as the man walked towards what remained of the stairs to walk down to the lower floors….or what remained of them rather.

"Quirk? Is that the name you use for meta abilities in your dimension?" Angstrom asked with amusement, "I like that, that's cute." he laughed as they followed him down through the remains of the building. "But yes, it's my ability. However a downside to it is that I can only shift through dimensions, I remain in the same space where I shift." he explained as the twins followed him out to the street. Both looked both ways for any sign of life, but found none.

"I see, so you can open a portal here, where this city was constructed, but in our dimension it's where a GDA holding facility was build." the one in the jumpsuit reasoned.

Angstrom snapped his fingers, "Bingo. I tried another dimension but there was a lake there, ended up dousing myself with water." he explained. "Another setback is that I only have limited knowledge of the other dimensions I could travel to. Otherwise I would have made a portal to a dimension close to a train station." he explained as they continued down the road, Angstrom stopping at a corner, "Now it was….yes, this way." he said, turning right down an alley filled with rubble from the buildings above, "However I believe that latter problem is something that I think you could both help me with." he explained.

The Twins stopped, both of them giving a suspicious look, "Yeah? What's in it for us?" one asked. "Do you really expect us to work for you with no incentive?" the other asked.

Levy stopped and turned to them, giving them a tired look, "I assumed your freedom would be enough. But I can always threaten to leave you here in this dimension for the rest of your lives if you need more incentive." he answered.

The twins both looked around and swallowed, "Point taken."

"Or services are yours." the other added.

Angstrom turned around, "Good, now then if I remember right…" he trailed off as he looked down across the rubble until he saw one stone with a large red 'X' drawn in marker. "Ha! Perfect. Here we go." he said, lifting his hand up creating another green portal to walk through. Stepping through the other side, the three entered an alleyway where a van was awaiting them with the engine already running. "Sorry if it's cramped in the back, this was the biggest Van I could get to fit back here." he explained.

"It should be fine. I know we're larger than average but there should be enough room." the one in the T shirt said as Angstrom walked around to the passenger seat.

And Angstrom opened the back door…..where two other Angstrom Levys where sitting. "Uhhh…..huh." one of the Mullers said as the other blinked in shock.

One of the other Angstroms in the back gestured them to enter, "Climb in, we'll explain the main one's plan along the way." he said, the twins climbing into the back of the Van and shutting the doors just as police cars flew down the street in response to a pair of missing prisoners at the holding facility.

AN: Honestly I was really hoping that season 1 of the show would have ended with a green portal opening in the Muller's Cells, but it's coming up and I can't wait to see Angstrom debut next season.

And I'm honestly really proud of Mako's last monologue this chapter, as much as I love how Mark gets his name in the show from his dad, re-reading the first issue? I really like how he gets his name there. So I tried to combine the two here and I think it came out in a way that makes sense.

Also for those of you who may not have noticed, first time he refers to himself as-{TITELCARD }!

Also just curious, anyone else not getting emails from fanfiction? I've seen a lot of you review over the past few days so I think it might just be me hopefully.

Now then, onto reviews!

Srsvsil: Well he's kind of a cocky bastard, I mean honestly after all the shit that he's been able to do in the Manga? He legit doesn't have much of a reason to be afraid.

awesomerebel55: I really want Class 1A to meet Allan too! And they will! Eventually, just not here.

Devil Dragon Stand Knight: Ok it's actually in the comic, granted he doesn't do the fingers on the side of the head but he does say "Think Mark Think!" and I laughed when I went back and re-read that.

And Monoma actually kind of is an asshole on purpose, because it makes people want to hit him so he can use his quirk on them. Which I admit is a really smart way to go about it.

KingBanana: Oh thank god, I mean I've heard good things about the series but I just didn't really want to watch it since I read the comic. Once it got to it's 'X-men' parody, I was done.

For'Sleepy: Nolan is one of the most interesting characters in all of Invincible, and honestly I think AfO doesn't have much of anything to fear from viltrumites, considering he can steal quirks.

And no, quirkless people aren't enslaved, they're at a natural disadvantage in this society. It's more that quirks are part of your identity, like Shinso has brainwashing, because of this people kind of assume the worst of him due to what it could do for evil. Same with Toga, she's evil because society pushed her to be an outcast.

Maelstrom Ressurected: It's like a week or, Viltrumites have a pretty good healing factor, it's not crazy like Wolverine or anything but it's pretty good. Also while that sounds like a badass idea, I have to point out that Nomus are basically Reanimen without robotics. Still that'd be cool!

AtomicGod666: Thanks!

Saint-Leiker: Just something he's got to work at.

D3lph0xL0v3r: Oh he'll definitely get character development! I mean I think they changed a few things so he doesn't come off AS big an asshole in the series, I mean he doesn't even say he loves Debbie in the comic. And I'd imagine the UA system in place at the moment is good enough.

Reven228: Keep in mind that all the Class saw was him get punched out of the USJ too. And maybe footage from I-Island.

AnimeKing6: Ok I love Stain as a villain but…..that sword isn't gonna do much against a viltrumite XD.

Pittacos Lore: Oh Thragg, definitely Thragg, I love All Might but he's got years o our boi. As for the other guardians, not the old ones that we first meet. There will be others we meet pretty soon though.

Sarcasm Sage 626: Shiagraki came here to kill All Might, not get into any more family drama XD. Oh you think this….OH! Oh no, no sweet child, Mako's got worse days ahead of him. As for the class, only Shoto, Kirishima, Deku, and Bakugo got the whole speech, and it was actually really interesting to apply how a viltrumite would view this version of earth considering the people having powers like this. And yeah Kaminari doesn't think Mako is a bad guy, but that question has to be asked by someone.

Guest2: Yeah I figured that since Viltrumite DNA is so potent that it can make Mark almost full blooded? There wouldn't be a quirk. Also I was wrong, Mako is 16. Not 17. He was five when he moved to Japan, had 10 years here to the start of the series, THEN the 10 months while Izuku trained.

Pervy Sage: What? Who said that? I didn't say that….I don't think. But I'm proud of that scene being able to show a different perspective to the fight. I didn't do the train scene because I felt like I couldn't top the show.
